Langblr Secret Santa
Hi @lmaolanguagesamiright​ ,I’m your @langblrsecretsanta​ this year! As your target language is Japanese, and your hobbies include baking and cooking, I’ve decided to translate and make a little glossary of a recipe I’d honestly like to try someday - Ichigo Daifuku!

What is a daifuku? Well, let’s resort to Wikipedia to find out the answer. 
Daifukumochi (大福餅), or Daifuku (大福) (literally "great luck"), is a Japanese confection consisting of a small round mochi (glutinous rice cake) stuffed with sweet filling, most commonly anko, sweetened red bean paste made from azuki beans. 
Daifuku was originally called Habutai mochi (腹太餅) (belly thick rice cake) because of its filling's nature. Later, the name was changed to Daifuku mochi (大腹餅) (big belly rice cake). Since the pronunciations of Fuku (腹) (belly) and Fuku (福) (luck) are the same in Japanese, the name was further changed to Daifuku mochi (大福餅) (great luck rice cake), a bringer of good luck. They were often used for gifts in ceremonial occasions.
(TLDR) So it’s a confectionary said to bring good luck!
材料(ざいりょう / zairyou / ingredients):
白玉粉(しらたまこ / shiratamako/ rice flour)-  230g
上白糖(じょうはくとう / jouhakutou / caster sugar) - 大さじ 4,5 (おおさじ / oosaji / tablespoon)
水(みず / mizu / water)  -  270ml
片栗粉(かたくりこ / katakuriko / potato starch)-  適量(てきりょう / tekiryou / proper quantity)
苺(いちご / ichigo / strawberries)  -  14個(じゅうよんこ / juuyonko / 14 strawberries, small things) 
Instead of strawberries you can also use other fruits or even green tea paste!
漉し餡(こしあん / koshian / strained bean paste/anko)-  300g

作り方(つくりかた / tsukurikata / how to make, instructions)
1. バットに片栗粉を敷いておく。苺は洗いヘタを取り苺の周りにあんこを付けてる。
2. ボールに白玉粉・ 砂糖を入れ、水を少しずつ加えながら良く混ぜ合わせる。ラップをし600Wの電子レンジで4分30秒間加熱する。
3. 混ぜ合わせ再び電子レンジで1分間加熱する。バットに流し入れ、全体に片栗粉を軽く振るい14等分する。
4. 薄く伸ばしあんこ・苺を包む。

加熱する(かねつする / kanetsu suru) - to heat up

流し入れる(ながしいれる / nagashiireru) - to pour into sth
全体(ぜんたい / zentai) - whole, whole body, entirety 
軽く(かるく / karuku) - lightly
振るう(ふるう / furuu) - to sprinkle
等分する(とうぶんする / toubun suru) - to divide into equal parts
薄い(うすい / usui) - thin, pale
伸ばす(のばす / nobasu) - to extend, to stretch 
包む(つつむ / tsutsumu) - to wrap up, to cover

英訳(えいやく / eiyaku / English translation): 
1. Spread potato starch on the tray. Wash and hull the strawberries and then cover them with anko (red bean) paste. 
2. Pour the flour and sugar into a bowl and mix while gradually adding water. Wrap and heat it in a microwave (600W) for 4,5 minutes. 
3. Stir the contents of the bowl once again and heat it in the microwave for another minute. Pour the contents of the bowl into the tray and let it be covered lightly in the potato starch, before dividing it into 14 equal parts.  
4. Stretch the mochi (the dough) and cover the strawberry with it.

Nochevieja (New Year’s Eve) y Año Nuevo (New Year)

It’s the last night of the year! Families gather to have dinner and then turn on their TVs because the countdown is beginning. But… do you have your grapes ready?
The tradition says that you have to eat twelve grapes, one for each stroke, for good luck. People who doesn’t like grapes eat chocolate, M&Ms, raisins or olives.

All the television channels broadcast the Campanadas from Puerta del Sol in Madrid. And every year they remind us to not confused the cuartos (four strokes that ring before the actual strokes) with the strokes. And every year people are very confused about this!

It’s New Year now and after a long night out celebrating we go home, but first… breakfast!
Chocolate con churros is the traditional New Year breakfast. You can find a lot of churrerías and bars open really early in the morning serving this delicious food. Of course, you can have it any other day of the year, as a breakfast or as a snack in the evening (merienda).

All the cities have their own very famous churrerías, but maybe one of the most iconic ones is San Ginés in Madrid. You can see people waiting in a line outside for a table and for a cup of hot chocolate and some churros!
