Review Of The 2023 Land Rover Range Rover
Review Of The 2023 Land Rover Range Rover
At first, I thought the 2023 Range Rover’s aesthetics were a little too close to its predecessor but up close and personal has changed my tune. The new model looks stunning in person. There is not a single overwrought design element on the exterior; The body panels are smooth as glass and devoid of squeaky features The way the range’s signature vertical taillights now integrate seamlessly with…

Saying Goodbye to Sugar Spikes: My Experience with Sugar Defender Supplements
Tumblr media
For years, I struggled with maintaining healthy blood sugar levels. Afternoon crashes, constant cravings, and a nagging feeling that something wasn't quite right plagued me. I tried various methods to manage it - portion control, increased exercise, even some low-carb fads - but nothing seemed to offer lasting results. Then, I discovered Sugar Defender Supplements, and let me tell you, it's been a game-changer.
Improved Blood Sugar Control
The first thing that drew me to Sugar Defender was its focus on natural ingredients. Packed with herbs like hawthorn berry, along with beneficial vitamins and minerals, the formula promised a holistic approach to blood sugar regulation. I was wary of synthetic medications and their potential side effects, so this natural composition was a big plus.
Tumblr media
Improved Blood Sugar Control
Within a few weeks of taking Sugar Defender, I noticed a significant difference. The afternoon crashes became a thing of the past, replaced by sustained energy levels throughout the day. More importantly, my blood sugar readings, which I diligently monitored, started to stabilise. The constant spikes and dips I used to experience lessened considerably. This newfound control over my blood sugar levels was a welcome relief.
Reduced Cravings and Healthier Choices
Another remarkable benefit I experienced was a reduction in sugar cravings. Before Sugar Defender, sugary treats seemed to call my name all the time. Now, those cravings have significantly diminished. This has made it much easier to make healthier food choices – I no longer feel like I'm constantly battling my own body's desires. As a result, I've noticed a positive change in my overall diet, opting for more nutritious options that fuel my body the right way.
Tumblr media
Enhanced Energy and Overall Well-being
Beyond blood sugar control, Sugar Defender has also impacted my energy levels. Gone are the days of feeling sluggish and drained. Now, I have a steady flow of energy that lasts throughout the day. This has translated into a more active lifestyle – I find myself wanting to get up and move more, which further contributes to my overall well-being.
A Word of Caution (and Disclaimer)
While Sugar Defender has been a fantastic addition to my health routine, it's important to remember that it's not a magic bullet. I still prioritize a healthy diet and regular exercise, and I would always recommend consulting your doctor before starting any new supplement. However, when combined with these healthy habits, Sugar Defender has made a significant positive impact on my life.
Tumblr media
In conclusion, I highly recommend Sugar Defender Supplements to anyone looking for a natural way to manage their blood sugar levels. It has helped me achieve greater control over my health and feel more energized and in control of my body. If you're struggling with similar issues, I urge you to give Sugar Defender a try. You might be surprised at the positive results!

NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter Team Says Goodbye … for Now
April 16, 2024
The final downlink shift by the Ingenuity team was a time to reflect on a highly successful mission — and to prepare the first aircraft on another world for its new role.
Engineers working on NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter assembled for one last time in a control room at the agency’s Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Southern California on Tuesday, April 16, to monitor a transmission from the history-making helicopter. While the mission ended Jan. 25, the rotorcraft has remained in communication with the agency’s Perseverance Mars rover, which serves as a base station for Ingenuity. This transmission, received through the antennas of NASA’s Deep Space Network, marked the final time the mission team would be working together on Ingenuity operations.
Now the helicopter is ready for its final act: to serve as a stationary testbed, collecting data that could benefit future explorers of the Red Planet.
“With apologies to Dylan Thomas, Ingenuity will not be going gently into that good Martian night,” said Josh Anderson, Ingenuity team lead at JPL. “It is almost unbelievable that after over 1,000 Martian days on the surface, 72 flights, and one rough landing, she still has something to give. And thanks to the dedication of this amazing team, not only did Ingenuity overachieve beyond our wildest dreams, but also it may teach us new lessons in the years to come.”
Originally designed as a short-lived technology demonstration mission that would perform up to five experimental test flights over 30 days, the first aircraft on another world operated from the Martian surface for almost three years, flew more than 14 times farther than the distance expected, and logged more than two hours of total flight time.
Ingenuity’s mission ended after the helicopter experienced a hard landing on its last flight, significantly damaging its rotor blades. Unable to fly, the rotorcraft will remain at “Valinor Hills” while the Perseverance rover drives out of communications range as it continues to explore the western limb of Jezero Crater.
Bytes and Cake
The team enjoyed some “Final Comms” chocolate cake while reviewing the latest data from over 189 million miles (304 million kilometers) away. The telemetry confirmed that a software update previously beamed up to Ingenuity was operating as expected. The new software contains commands that direct the helicopter to continue collecting data well after communications with the rover have ceased.
With the software patch in place, Ingenuity will now wake up daily, activate its flight computers, and test the performance of its solar panel, batteries, and electronic equipment. In addition, the helicopter will take a picture of the surface with its color camera and collect temperature data from sensors placed throughout the rotorcraft. Ingenuity’s engineers and Mars scientists believe such long-term data collection could not only benefit future designers of aircraft and other vehicles for the Red Planet, but also provide a long-term perspective on Martian weather patterns and dust movement.
During this final gathering, the team received a farewell message from Ingenuity featuring the names of people who worked on the mission. Mission controllers at JPL sent the message to Perseverance the day before, which handed it off to Ingenuity so that it could transmit the farewell back to Earth.
Decades of Room
If a critical electrical component on Ingenuity were to fail in the future, causing data collection to stop, or if the helicopter eventually loses power because of dust accumulation on its solar panel, whatever information Ingenuity has collected will remain stored on board. The team has calculated Ingenuity’s memory could potentially hold about 20 years’ worth of daily data.
“Whenever humanity revisits Valinor Hills — either with a rover, a new aircraft, or future astronauts — Ingenuity will be waiting with her last gift of data, a final testament to the reason we dare mighty things,” said Ingenuity’s project manager, Teddy Tzanetos of JPL. “Thank you, Ingenuity, for inspiring a small group of people to overcome seemingly insurmountable odds at the frontiers of space.”
IMAGE....NASA’s Ingenuity Mars Helicopter, right, stands near the apex of a sand ripple in an image taken by Perseverance on Feb. 24, about five weeks after the rotorcraft’s final flight. Part of one of Ingenuity’s rotor blades lies on the surface about 49 feet (15 meters) west of helicopter (left of center in the image).

I've always hc'd korea to be a celebrity in korea. Argue with me all you want with that "but they're treated as just some guy in hetalia canon(like the first france episode in the beautiful world), but you're looking at a country that made and sold lightsticks and photocards of the previous president
Tumblr media
This is exactly why I'm making hcs about korea's celebrity side so buckle your seatbelts and subscribe to im yong soo/im soo jin on weverse
Ofc korea has photocards. Naturally there's different tiers, some being rarer than others. Some will be limited edition halloween photocards, or birthday photocards
I don't know if korea would have a lightstick. Lightsticks are for concerts, but korea is a different brand of celebrity and doesnt perform onstage. The only time i see the lightsticks being used are for airport landings or something.
Korea has plushie merch though. Think like the stray kids mascots. Heck, korea probably has a flagship store in gangnam for the merch(is it truly considered successful if you don't have a flagship store in gangnam at some point).
America has all the merch. He has a large collection of photocards safely tucked in his photocard album, he has the plushies, and a lightstick if korea has one. He also keeps up to date on korea's social media and web show.
He probably also comments "first" on a lot of korea's posts
Even though korea isnt a kpop singer, they regularly have interviews with kpop stars like eric nam does, and also joins them for dance challenges(my fantasy is yong soo dancing to rover by kai).
Korea has many social media accounts and posts the dancing videos there. You know korea probably has like about 20m followers minimum just putting that out there. They post themselves with other nations as well, mostly the east asian tiger trio, ASEAN, and the north america trio(america, canada, mexico) in that order.
Korea has their own YT channel where they upload and make vlogs daily, featuring the other countries Korea's close to
IU has her own show called IU's Palette. Similarly, i can see korea doing the same. The show covers korea interviewing and hanging out with fellow nations, celebrities, and also highlighting different korean villages, giving the regional ajummas a chance to shine and further uniting the country.
For the koreans out there, korea will use The 맛집 Review Voice jokingly when reviewing local food
The whole nation protects korea as their collective little blorbo bleebus. Like how IU has the "Nation's Little Sister" status.
Korea makes cameos in kdramas, and when people recognize they go crazy. Korea tries to get the subtlest of cameo appearances every time to test the audience
Korea is allowed to date whoever! As long as it isnt an enemy of the state or something
Korea's airport fashion goes viral every time. There's multiple images of Korea's fashion on pinterest that a lot of people save.
I'm going with the hc that korea's that famous and that cute that they win the heart of the international audience. Yay for soft power!!!!

Our heroes: Are all over SoCal today - the office, Pendleton, Anaheim.
What important things did we learn about: Callen:  Still looking for Hetty. Sam:   Jogging against the Santa Ana winds. Kensi:  Taking classes at Quantico. Deeks:  Trying to balance home life and work. Fatima:   Miranda. Rountree:  Tackling Marines with ease. Kilbride:  Doesn’t envy Deeks’s balancing act.
What not so important things did we learn about: Callen:  Pet sitting nephew Jake’s snakes.   Sam:   Not afraid of snakes, just doesn’t like snakes. Kensi:   On the East Coast but the house is still a mess. Deeks:   Maker of healthy breakfasts. Fatima:   Really is a fed. Rountree:  Has snack bars in the Land Rover’s glovebox. Kilbride:  Doing retirement wrong.
Where in the world is Henrietta Lange?  Callen is looking for her in Syria.
Who's down with OTP:  Kensi is in DC so Deeks is Mr. Mom.
Who's down with BrOTP:  Very bantering Callen and Sam episode.
Fashion review:   Callen is wearing a medium blue button-down shirt.  Sam has on a long-sleeve black tee while Deeks has on a short sleeve one.  A lovely purple turtleneck for Fatima.  Rountree looks like he raided Deeks’s closet for is pale blue long-sleeve tee.  The Admiral is doing the Admiral – dark blue three-piece suit, dark blue tie, pale blue dress shirt.
Music:  Nothing today.
Any notable cut scene:  After two straight episodes with an extra scene, none for today.
Quote:  Kilbride:  “Agent Namazi spoke up on your behalf.” Deeks:  “Yeah, well, she didn't...she didn't have to do that.” Kilbride:  “No. And to be clear, this is not an apology for what I said this morning.  Regardless of personal circumstances, I have to hold this office to the highest of standards.” Deeks:  “Right. Yeah, no, it definitely won't happen again, sir.” Kilbride:  “Isn't easy.” Deeks:  “S-Sorry, what?” Kilbride:  “It isn't easy balancing the work that you do here with the equally important work that you do at home.  Speaking for myself, I was never able to find that balance and it is my life's regret.  I have every confidence that you will.” Deeks:  “Thank you, sir.” Kilbride:  “I do not envy you.”
Anything else:  Deeks is making a healthy breakfast for Rosa – eggs and bacon made into a smiley face, fresh fruit – when Bertie shows up with vegan doughnuts. Since Rosa isn’t vegan and Deeks would prefer she have a healthy breakfast, mother and son debate doughnuts, Bertie living 84-seconds away and Deeks’s preference that she not just show up unannounced. Bertie tells Deeks she texted Kensi about dropping by but since Kensi in Quantico (“you’d never know it with all the mess,” Bertie notes), Deeks didn’t know she was coming. The doughnut conversation devolves into it being odd that former police officer Deeks doesn’t like doughnuts.
As Deeks yells for Rosa to hurry up and get dressed so she can have his healthy breakfast. Rosa arrives in the dining room wearing her pajamas. She tells Deeks she isn’t feeling well. Within a second, she’s running to the bathroom and vomiting.
In the boat shed, Sam arrives after a long run against the Santa Ana Winds. Callen is on his laptop, looking at satellite footage from Syria. He’s looking for Hetty. Sam assures Callen they’ll find Hetty – “we always do.” There is a hissing noise across the boat shed. Lifting a blanket off an object on the coffee table, Sam sees a large tank with a large snake inside. He is not pleased. Callen is babysitting the snakes – they’re Jake’s. As he says he’s bringing them home with him at the end of the day. Callen remember that Sam is afraid of snakes. Sam disagrees – not afraid, just not a fan. Years and years of evolution put that feeling into everyone. Callen’s phone rings – they have a case.
Deeks gets the same call as Rosa is resting on the couch. The flu is going around the school, Rosa probably got it. Deeks asks if she wants anything. Rosa mentions a soup her Mom use to make when she was ill - caldo de res - and how her Mom would run her hand through Rosa’s hair until she fell asleep. Deeks looks like he was slapped. Rosa apologizes but Deeks tells her there is no reason to apologize. He’s sorry her mother isn’t there, sorry he never met her. Rosa thinks her mother would have liked Deeks – except his hair. She would have combed it until it was neat. Rosa laughs – she thinks Deeks would look terrible with neat hair.
Deeks’s phone rings again – it is Rountree. Deeks updates him on what’s going on and he’s just waiting for Bertie to return. Bertie returns with movies to watch and a new shortcut – now just 43-second to the house if she uses the neighbor’s backyard. Deeks thinks that goes on the list of things to discuss. Deeks tells Rosa he loves her and looking at his mother, he tells Rosa “I’m so sorry.”
In Ops, Fatima has video of the Gladiator’s fight – a corps videographer was recording it for a promotional film. Sam recognizes the pugil stick training – he did it with the SEALs. Fatima thinks it looks like fun. Sam assures her it isn’t. Hanson, the Marine who had the seizure, was rushed to the Marine hospital about two minutes away. He fell into a coma and is now suffering massive organ failure. This is the first seizure for Hanson.
Callen wonders if he was exposed to a nerve agent. None of that showed up in Hanson’s blood work – just a cold virus but the cold virus had a specific enzyme – CRISPR-Cas9 – that is used for gene editing. The Admiral arrives saying that a specific flu was introduced to a member “our armed forces”. The SecNav and Joint Chiefs are all aware of this case – it is their highest priority since this could be the first attack by a genetic weapon.
Deeks arrives, worried that the virus that Hanson was exposed to could be contagious. Fatima and Rountree assure him it is not. The virus itself is rather harmless. What it did was deliver the CRISPR “payload”. They are not sure what genes were targeted but the doctors see that Hanson’s immune system is failing. Russia and Iran have interest in gene warfare while the Chinese used CRISR to alter human embryos.
What worries Rountree is that CRISPR technology can be ordered on the internet legally. A person would need to know a lot about genetic medicine to make anything work. Which makes it odd that if someone is smart enough to create this virus, why test it on Private First Class Hanson and not a general or an admiral. Kilbride arrives for the last word, unnerving Rountree, who says the Admiral is different – he’s retired. If he’s retired, Kilbride thinks he’s doing it wrong.
With Callen and Sam arriving at Camp Pendleton to investigate, the Admiral wants Rountree to speak to Hanson’s mom – she’s just arrived from Indiana to be with her son. Fatima is going to go through the last week of Hanson’s life to see how he could be exposed to the virus. As for Deeks, the Admiral gives him a good dressing down for being late. Then he’s assigned to work with Rountree. Rountree tries to explain that the Admiral has been busy with the Pentagon all day – probably didn’t hear about Rosa being sick. Deeks isn’t interested, they just need to work.
In Camp Pendleton, Callen and Sam speak with Hanson’s Staff Sergeant. Hanson has been struggling to keep up and the Staff Sergeant feels that maybe the seizure was his fault – pushed Hanson too hard. Callen assures the Staff Sergeant that the seizure had nothing to do with the exercise. With the entire squad having to go through a blood test, the Staff Sergeant is worried about his wife and their new baby. Sam tells the Staff Sergeant that there isn’t an immediate threat to anyone but Hanson.
Callen asks for info on Hanson’s prior week. The Staff Sergeant can hand over all of Hanson’s assignments and training but his free time was spent with his roommate, PFC Jimmie Williams – they’re best friends. Hanson was one of the few guys on base with a car – a Camaro and a loud one – so everyone knew when he was leaving the base. Williams always travelled with Hanson. The night before Hanson’s seizure, Hanson and Williams left base. The Staff Sergeant doesn’t ask where his men go if they leave the base – just as long as they’re safe and reasonably sober when they return, it is all good. As Callen and Sam check out Hanson’s bunk, the Staff Sergeant goes looking for Williams to meet with Callen and Sam.
Deeks and Rountree meet Mrs. Hanson outside the Marine hospital. She’s upset – it is difficult to see her son in such a state. She’s surprised NCIS is there to see her – “Eddie” had a seizure. Rountree explains they are investigating why her son had a seizure. Sitting with her, Mrs. Hanson tells Deeks and Rountree that her son was a good boy, called every Saturday at 9AM. She was so proud when he joined the Marines, just like his father. Eddie’s father died in combat. The weekly conversations were about general things including crypto. Mrs. Hanson is into crypto but Eddie wasn’t until recently. She helped him set up an account.
In Hanson’s bunk, there are a lots of bottles of supplements, car magazines and photos with pretty young woman. Sam notices there isn’t a phone and Hanson’s car keys are gone. The Staff Sergeant arrives – Jimmie Williams is AWOL. Security footage has the Camaro leaving the base about an hour ago. Deeks called with the info about the crypto accounts for Hanson and Williams – Callen wonders if the two men were paid in crypto to bring the virus onto the base, thinking Williams may have gotten greedy and is looking for the money for himself. Security video shows Williams going north to LA.
The Admiral is furious on the phone – he wants a helicopter over the freeway between San Diego and Los Angeles looking for Williams. Fatima arrives – Williams was last seen exiting the freeway in Anaheim. Looking at Hanson’s crypto account, he was paying $2,000 in coins to a Xander Yost who lives in Anaheim.
Deeks and Rountree go to Yost’s home but the door is unlocked. There is blood on the handle. Rountree sees Williams in the backyard as he tries to flee the scene. Williams tells Rountree “I didn’t kill him” after Rountree slams him to the ground. Rountree agrees – Hanson isn’t dead. In the house, Deeks finds Xander Yost with his throat cut in a deep freezer. He’s definitely dead.
As Yost’s body is being removed from his house, Deeks is on the phone with Rosa, who is still quite sick. Bertie takes over the call – Deeks’s DVD player isn’t working. This is news to Deeks since they don’t have a DVD player. “Then what have I been shoving my DVDs into,” she asks and Deeks is done. Rountree arrives. The time of death is about two-hours ago, just when PFC Williams was leaving the base. He’s not the killer. Castor is picking up Williams to take him to the boat shed while Deeks and Rountree stay at the crime scene.
Fatima said it was hard to find info on Xander Yost. He dropped out of med school He opened his dark web business, XY Apothecary, where he makes home-made gene therapies, including one to build muscles for $2,000 – what Hanson paid Yost. With Hanson and Williams struggling to keep up, they were likely using the gene therapy to improve their strength and stamina. This isn’t terrorism, they’re trying to enhance themselves. But that doesn’t explain who killed Yost and made Hanson sick.
In interrogation, Williams explains he and Hanson were trying to be better Marines. They found XY and did some shots. They were getting results until Hanson got sick. When the Marines ordered blood tests for the squad, Williams had a panic attack. Thinking he might die, Williams took Hanson’s car to Yost’s home. Sam notes that Williams also took Hanson’s phone. Without facial recognition, Williams couldn’t open Hanson’s phone but if it was in the car, it automatically gave access. Explaining he wasn’t stealing either the car or the phone, he was going to Yost for an antidote but Yost was already dead. Williams ran because he thought Rountree was the killer.
There was nothing in the house connecting Yost to a gene therapy business. Williams suggests talking to Yost’s assistant. Williams didn’t know his name, but he was a young man about Williams’s age. The assistant gave both Hanson and Williams a Fitbit-style monitor to wear after their gene therapy treatment.
In Ops, Fatima and the Admiral review the monitor. If either Williams or Hanson were suffering, the monitor would report it. Checking into the monitors, they were bought in bulk by a company called Open Source Bio, a community lab in downtown Los Angeles. The Admiral knows about these type of labs – bio-hackers/amateurs using chemical and biological tools unchecked. Fatima thinks their goals are noble – making access to medicine easier. While some of the people involved may have noble goals, Hanson is in the hospital for a reason. Kilbride wants Fatima and Rountree to infiltrate the lab. Deeks will be running things from Ops.
Rountree is happy to be back in the Range Rover – he always has snacks in the glovebox. Well, not today, Fatima has the snacks. Neither of them had time for lunch. Fatima has a hard time accessing the building until she sells herself as Miranda – British accent and all – trying to start her own kombucha business. One of the lab partners, Lisa, lets Fatima in – the woman has an RFID chip implanted into her right hand and magnets in her left.
Fatima asks about the lab’s security – Lisa explains they have a lot of chemicals and interesting projects that need to be protected. They also do community projects like making vegan cheese and insulin. The lab is even FDA approved. Many of the members of the lab, including Lisa, are diabetic. They are taking the power away from Big Pharma. Fatima is introduced to the group, including Herman, a human cyborg. Using cybernetic implants, he is attune to radio waves and accuses Fatima of wearing a wire, of being a Fed. Rountree runs from the Range Rover to the lab’s door.
Herman is sure Fatima is a fed even as the others look at both Fatima and Herman oddly. Herman’s previous lab was shut down by the Feds after they though he was making anthrax and sarin. He orders Fatima to take off her hijab. Lisa calls him out – totally out of line. Fatima admits she is wearing an earpiece – it is her earwig. As Miranda, Fatima claims she suffers from hyperacusis, noise sensitivity but would turn off the earpiece if it upsets Herman. Herman likes the idea, Lisa does not – they wouldn’t make Herman remove his antenna.
Lisa has to ready a shipment of insulin. Fatima can walk around the lab and talk to anyone about her project, except maybe Herman. Taking a quick photo of Herman, Fatima sends it to Rountree, who forwards it to Callen and Sam. Maybe Williams will recognize Herman as Yost’s assistant.
As Callen feeds Jake’s snakes, Williams is shown Herman’s photo but he doesn’t recognize Herman. Sam tries to jog Williams’s memory – did the assistant have tattoos, anything that would identify him. Williams remembers a Copperhead motorcycle – Hanson thought it was cool. Callen and Sam call to Deeks in Ops, who admits he’s a fish out of water there. Deeks finds the motorcycle’s owner Nicholas Embry whose license goes back to a closed homeless shelter. Embry also owns a van that was ticketed in a public parking structure.
Fatima asks Herman about his heart monitor – her friend “Nick” was using one just like Herman’s. Herman knows Nicholas Embry, who left Open Source Bio after they did not let him use CRISPR technology. Embry stole a lot of stuff before leaving, including the heart monitors. Herman still thinks Fatima is a fed.
Callen and Sam pull up along Embry’s van. The van locked but the motorcycle is missing. Deeks provides a warrant so Callen and Sam break in. Embry is living the van and has literature about using a bio-weapon to get rid of anyone he deems genetically inferior. Using Yost’s business, Embry experimented on the “weak” PFC Hanson. When it worked, Yost figured it out so Embry killed him. Deeks sends Embry’s work to Fatima – they need someone to review it. She wakes up a napping Herman and admits in her normal voice, she is a federal agent. “I hate being right all the time,” Herman tells her.
Reviewing Embry’s work, Herman figures out that CRISPR didn’t introduce any new virus, it just took the simple flu virus and changed it to make it lethal. Embry is diabetic. Paying for insulin has been difficult in his life to the point that he almost killed himself by rationing his medication. He was suicidal after that. With Lisa out making deliveries, the concern is that the lethal flu is in the insulin.
Callen and Sam find the Open Source Bio van. Embry is holding Lisa hostage. Sam fires a bullet over their heads, causing Embry to drop his knife. With the magnets in her hand, Lisa is able to take it. Sam puts Embry in handcuffs.
In the office, Deeks is packing up his gear. The Admiral comes up behind Deeks. He asks about Rosa, saying that Fatima spoke up on Deeks’s behalf. Deeks didn’t think Fatima needed to do that. The Admiral tells Deeks he isn’t apologizing, just wants Deeks to know he has to hold the OSP to the highest of standards. The Admiral talks about balancing work done in the office with the important work done at home, admitting he never found that balance. “It is my life’s regret.” But the Admiral has every confidence that Deeks will, though he does not envy Deeks doing it.
In the boatshed, Callen and Sam are sharing a beer. PFC Hanson has stabilized. Callen notices the snake - Houdini - is gone. Sam leaves – Callen is on his own looking for Houdini.
Deeks arrives home. Rosa’s fever has broken but she’s exhausted. Deeks is too – he felt so torn all day. He wanted to stay with Rosa because she’s lost so much in life but he has a job and that job included getting yelled at for being late and being punished by working in Ops, “which I’m not built for.” He tried to Google the soup Rosa’s mother made but couldn’t even spell it. Deeks is grateful for Bertie living 43-seconds away so she could watch Rosa and take care of her. They hug. Bertie notices he’s hot and starts taking care of him too.
What head canon can be formed from here: The case of the week was interesting and well done. I thought Deeks’s reaction to the Admiral’s dressing down was interesting. He wasn’t there to defend himself or get sympathy from his Fatima and Rountree. Instead, he did his job. There is the generation divide between Kilbride, who didn’t have paternity leave or bring your kids to work day, and Deeks who probably was glad his father didn’t have either paternity leave or bring your kids to work day.
Deeks wanting to Google caldo de res and not being able to spell it shows where he was with taking care of Rosa. Here’s a recipe Deeks:
Ops Deeks knew Callen and Sam’s next question about Yost's assistant Embry because he would have asked them to Eric/Nell/Fatima.
Bertie dresses up any episode. Again, whoever cast Pamela Reed as Deeks’s mom is very good at their job.
Solid episode that outside of the Rosa storyline, could have run during any season.
Episode number: Season 14, episode seven. Episode 309 overall.

Mapping Water Distribution on the Moon’s South Pole NASA Using data collected by the now-retired Stratospheric Observatory for Infrared Astronomy (SOFIA), researchers shared the first detailed, wide-area map of water distribution on the Moon. Understanding how much water lies beneath the lunar surface, and how it’s distributed, will help guide future missions like VIPER, as well as prospective sites for human habitats. Colliding Moons May Have Formed Saturn’s Rings NASA New research suggests Saturn’s icy moons and rings were formed by a collision a few hundred million years ago, creating debris that gathered into the planet’s dusty, icy rings or clumped together to form moons. NASA and Airlines Partner to Save Fuel and Reduce Delays NASA/James Blair This year, NASA partnered with five major U.S. airlines on an air traffic decision-making tool that saved more than 24,000 pounds of jet fuel in 2022 for flights departing from Dallas-Fort Worth International Airport and Dallas Love Field Airport. Partners include American Airlines, Delta Air Lines, JetBlue Airways, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines. NASA Leaders View Climate Science, Wildfire Innovations at Ames NASA/Dominic Hart NASA’s top leadership, industry experts, and legislative officials visited Ames in April to learn about about the center’s climate science efforts and innovations in aeronautics that will help scientists and engineers better understand climate change and mitigate natural disasters like wildland fires. Starling Takes Flight Blue Canyon Technologies/NASA In July NASA’s Starling mission, managed at Ames, launched four CubeSats into low-Earth orbit to test robotic swarm technologies for space. You can track mission milestones via the Small Satellite Missions blog, and follow the mission live in NASA’s Eyes on the Solar System 3D visualization. NASA’s First Robotic Moon Rover NASA/Robert Markowitz This year engineers began assembling NASA’s first robotic Moon rover, VIPER — short for the Volatiles Investigating Polar Exploration Rover — and the agency is giving the public a front row seat to watch along as the rover takes shape. While individual components, such as the rover’s science instruments, lights, and wheels, were assembled and tested, the VIPER team also completed software development, mission planning, and tricky tests of the rover’s ability to drive off the Astrobotic Griffin lunar lander and onto the lunar surface. Bringing Home Ancient Space Rocks NASA/Keegan Barber NASA’s OSIRIS-REx mission – short for the Origins, Spectral Interpretation, Resource Identification, and Security-Regolith Explorer – returned to Earth in Sept. 2023, bringing with it extraterrestrial rocks and dust that it scooped up from an asteroid estimated to be 4.5 billion years old. Ames contributed to the spacecraft’s heat shield, anti-contamination systems, post-landing sample curation, and more. Preparing to Send Yeast to the Moon’s Surface for Astronaut Health NASA/Dominic Hart NASA’s plans to explore the Moon and eventually go to Mars will bring humans deeper into space for longer duration missions than ever before. These extended missions beyond low Earth orbit pose certain health risks to astronauts. The Lunar Explorer Instrument for Space Biology Applications team is preparing an experiment to study yeast’s biological response to the lunar environment to help understand and mitigate health risks for astronauts. X-59 Team Moves Toward First Flight in 2024 Lockheed Martin/Gary Tice This year, NASA’s X-59 team installed the finishing touches to the aircraft’s tail structure and moved it from its assembly facility to the flight line to perform structural testing. The X-59 quiet supersonic aircraft will take its first flight in 2024. Celebrating a Stellar Year for Webb Telescope Science NASA, ESA, CSA, STScI, and S. Crowe (University of Virginia) The James Webb Space Telescope’s Near-Infrared Camera instrument produced a feast for the eyes with a view into a star-forming region, named Sagittarius C, in the heart of the Milky Way. The image reveals a portion of the dense center of our galaxy in unprecedented detail, including never-before-seen features astronomers have yet to explain. Supercomputer Simulations Lead to Air and Space Innovations NASA Simulations and models developed using technology at the NASA Advanced Supercomputing Facility (NAS) help researchers and engineers develop innovations in air and space. Modeling turbofan engines could lead to designs that reduce engine noise and improve efficiency by understanding where noise is generated inside the machine. S-MODE Sails the Seas and Soars through the Sky NASA/Avery Snyder The Sub-Mesoscale Ocean Dynamics Experiment (S-MODE) logged its final field expedition, and they took a team from the TODAY Show along for the ride. S-MODE combined airborne instruments, research ships, and autonomous ocean gliders to get an unprecedented look at how gas and heat exchange at the ocean’s surface impacts Earth’s climate. From Intern to Astronaut, and Back to Ames NASA/Dominic Hart NASA astronaut Jessica Watkins, who was once an intern at Ames, returned to the Bay Area in Feb. 2023 to visit with local elementary schools and speak with Ames employees. Watkins started her career with NASA at Ames, where she conducted research on Mars soil simulant supporting the Phoenix Mars Lander mission. Second Gentleman Joins East Bay Kids for STEM Activities NASA/Dominic Hart Nearly 100 East Bay kids and their families got to experience the thrill of “launching a rocket” and “making clouds” at a fun-filled STEM event hosted in honor of Women’s History Month at the East Oakland Youth Development Center in Oakland, California, in March 2023. Second Gentleman Douglas Emhoff, NASA Ames Research Center Director Dr. Eugene Tu, and NASA astronaut Dr. Yvonne Cagle joined kids at the Manzanita Community School for hands-on activities and to distribute approximately 500 STEM Artemis Learning Lunchboxes aimed to inspire the Artemis generation to learn about NASA’s Artemis Program. Top Leaders in Our Midst Hailed from the White House and Australia NASA/Dominic Hart In January, U.S. President Joe Biden landed at Moffett Federal Airfield, at Ames, on his way to visit storm-damaged regions in the state. Research conducted at our Silicon Valley center could help predict extreme climate-related weather events. Later in the spring, Vice President Kamala Harris arrived at Moffett before delivering remarks at a local company, and leaders of the Australian Space Agency visited Ames to learn about the center’s missions supporting NASA’s Artemis program, including the VIPER Moon rover, which will launch to the lunar South Pole in late 2024.

Swipe through to view the most complete, fully loaded Land Rover Mega City 1, City Cab from the 1995 Sylvester Stallone iteration of Judge Dredd directed by British film maker Danny Canon, previously known for the Jude Law/Sadi Frost sleeper-hit, Shopping. Whilst the film was released to mixed reviews, the City Cab based on a Series III Forward Control Land Rover has become quite an iconic head-turner. I've already written a post about the Dredd 101's, if you've copious spare time to sift through my IG wall. If you're on Facebook it's a lot easier to find... On a personal note; at the time the film was in post production my father was a journalist. I remember Dad penning a piece on the vehicle due to my fathers extensive background with vehicles - effectively the North Wales branch of the Trinity group had no problem allocating him as automotive correspondent, among many other areas of journalistic interest. I believe he was impressed with the FC-Dredd transformation. Would you prefer a stock or Dredd Forward Control? #landrover #Judgedredd #FC101 #101Forwardcontrol #Series3 #Serieslandrover #landroverphotoalbum #inkyenston #Oldrovers #SylvesterStallone #MegaCity #MegaCity1 #CityCab (at British Motor Museum) https://www.instagram.com/p/CexoezLNvgY/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

2023 Space and Astronomy News: What to Expect

2023 Space and Astronomy News: What to Expect
Tumblr media
As years in space and astronomy go, 2022 is going to be a tough act to follow.
NASA wowed us with cosmic scenes captured by the James Webb Space Telescope. The DART mission slammed an asteroid into a new orbit. Artemis I set humanity on a course back to the moon. China finished building a new space station in orbit. SpaceX launched 61 rockets in 12 months. And the invasion of Ukraine imperiled Russia’s status as a space power.
It’s a lot to measure up to, but 2023 is bound to have some excitement on the launchpad, the lunar surface and in the sky. Once again, you can get updates on your personal digital calendar by signing up for The New York Times’s Space and Astronomy Calendar. Here are some of the major events you can expect. Not all of them have certain dates yet, but Times journalists will provide additional information as it emerges. Learn more at nytimes.com/spacecalendar
New Rockets
NASA got its giant Space Launch System off the ground for the first time in 2022, lighting up the night in Florida with an incredible stream of flame as it carried the Artemis I mission toward the moon. That shifted attention to SpaceX, which is building a next generation rocket, Starship, that is also central to NASA’s crewed Artemis III moon landing attempt.
SpaceX cleared a key environmental review that would allow it to launch an uncrewed orbital test flight from South Texas if it met certain conditions. But the rocket wasn’t ready for flight in 2022. The company has not announced a date for a test this year, but regular ground tests of Starship equipment indicate it is working toward one.
The pathfinder first stage of the Vulcan Centaur, a new rocket by United Launch Alliance that will eventually replace that company’s Atlas V.United Launch Alliance
Numerous other rockets may take flight for the first time in 2023. The most important, Vulcan Centaur by United Launch Alliance, will eventually replace that company’s Atlas V, a vehicle that has been central to American spaceflight for two decades. The Vulcan relies on the BE-4 engine built by Blue Origin, the rocket company founded by Jeff Bezos. The same engine will in turn be used in Blue Origin’s New Glenn rocket, which may have a test flight late this year.
A number of American private companies are expected to test new rockets in 2023, including Relativity and ABL. They could be joined by foreign rocket makers, including Mitsubishi Heavy Industries which could test Japan’s H3 rocket in February, and Arianespace, which is working toward a test flight of Europe’s Ariane 6 rocket.
New Lunar Landings
We’re guaranteed at least one lunar landing attempt in 2023. A Japanese company, Ispace, launched its M1 mission on a SpaceX rocket in December. It’s taking a slow, fuel-efficient route to the moon and is set to arrive in April, when it will try to deploy a rover built by the United Arab Emirates, a robot built by Japan’s space agency, JAXA, as well as other payloads.
There could be as many as five more lunar landing attempts this year.
NASA has hired a pair of private companies to carry payloads to the lunar surface. Both of them, Intuitive Machines of Houston and Astrobotic Technology of Pittsburgh, faced delays in 2022, but may make the trip in the coming months.
They could be joined by three government space programs’ lunar missions. India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission was delayed last year but could be ready in 2023. A Japanese mission, Smart Lander for Investigating Moon, or SLIM, aims to test the country’s lunar landing technologies. Finally, Russia’s Luna-25 mission was postponed from last September, but Roscosmos, the Russian space agency, may try this year.
New Space Telescopes
Scientists in 2019 at work with the European Space Agency’s Euclid spacecraft, which will study energy and dark matter. Its 2022 launch was postponed by the Russian invasion of Ukraine.S. Corvaja/European Space Agency
The Webb telescope wowed space enthusiasts and scientists with its views of the cosmos, but we may get new vantages from a variety of orbital observatories.
The most significant may be Xuntian, a Chinese mission setting off later in the year that will be like a more sophisticated version of the Hubble Space Telescope. The spacecraft will survey the universe at optical and ultraviolet wavelengths in an orbit around Earth close to the country’s Tiangong space station.
A Japanese-led mission, XRISM, pronounced chrism, could launch earlier in the year as well. The mission will use X-ray spectroscopy to study clouds of plasma, which could help to explain the universe’s composition. A European space telescope, Euclid, may also launch on a SpaceX rocket after the Russian invasion of Ukraine resulted in the spacecraft losing its seat on a Russian Soyuz rocket. It will study the universe’s dark energy and dark matter.
New Planetary Missions
A new spacecraft will head toward Jupiter this year, aiming to become the first to ever orbit another planet’s moon. The European Space Agency’s Jupiter Icy Moon Explorer, or JUICE, will launch from an Ariane 5 rocket as early as April 5 to set off to the Jovian system, arriving in 2031. Once it reaches the gas giant, it will move to conduct 35 flybys of three of the giant world’s moons: Callisto, Europa and Ganymede, all of which are believed to have subsurface oceans. In 2034, JUICE will begin orbiting Ganymede, the largest moon in the solar system.
Heading closer to the sun will be Rocket Lab, a small launch company that was founded in New Zealand. It aims to use its Electron rocket to send a mission to Venus. The company’s Photon satellite will try to deploy a small probe, built with Massachusetts Institute of Technology researchers, that will briefly study the planet’s toxic atmosphere. The mission was planned for May, but it is expected to face delays while the company prioritizes missions for its other customers.
A Total Eclipse and a Not-So-Total One
There will be two solar eclipses in 2023.
A total eclipse on April 20 will be more of a Southern Hemisphere event, and the moon will only blot out the sun in remote parts of Australia and Indonesia. (Perhaps not a bad time to be on a boat in parts of the Indian and Pacific Oceans, too.)
But Americans may get a good show on Oct. 14, when North America will be visited by an annular eclipse. Eclipses of this type are sometimes called “ring of fire” eclipses because the moon is too far from Earth to fully block the sun but creates a ring-like effect when it reaches totality. The eclipse’s path runs through parts of Oregon, California, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas before dipping into Central and South America. Where the weather cooperates, it should be a great solar show and a nice lead up for the April 8, 2024 total eclipse that will cross the United States from southwest to northeast.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~ She would smile softly at me every so often as she messed with a strand of my hair that landed on her pillow. It was too early to get up and we had too much energy to fall back asleep. We were facing each other in bed as our boredom prolonged and time seemed to have stood still. I became hyper-aware of her in my half-state. The vermillion cotton chemise she wore to bed, how her hair tangles into a few scattered uzumaki since she's let it grow out, the faint aroma of the perfume I got her for a death day long passed, the dull hue of her ruby red lipstick stuck on her sweet lips, her entire being filled my senses. I stare lovingly at my wife- I truly cannot help myself either- she knows how she sways all of my past known human emotions when she looks away and pretends not to notice that I crave her and her attention.
 When she does look towards my eyes, I can feel the warmth of her smile and the heat in her cheeks. She would mumble something about staring at her as weird, but both of us know that she loves the attention but refuses to acknowledge it. How could I not stare at her? When today of all days was the day she was reborn? The day she became the woman she was meant to be?
Her verdant eyes glow as I rest my palm on the chiselled cheek that rests not on her pillow. “My love, why wouldn’t I be gazing at you and drinking you in as you radiate pure joy and bliss? It is the day you have been reborn all those years ago as the woman I know and love today! I cannot think about not enjoying every dying moment without you as I rise for the morning, work with you during the day, and rest with you in the evening!” With a brilliant flash of my sweet smile as I rejoice with the toothy grin she flares my way.
“My Deadly Dearest, you know just what to say to make a woman sentimental even in the early waking hours of the dawn! Do you have anything planned for your lovely wife’s birthday?” She purrs.
I nod a little, “I have a whole day planned out for the both of us… It can wait for a little longer though, I quite enjoy spending a spare restless moment with you, my ruby reaper.”
“Is it all a secret, dear, or can your heart-holder be let in on the plans?” She inquires, the faint purse of her lips appearing as I gazed at her to think. I start humming the faint orchestra of the new ballet we visited, I faintly remember the flower ballad, a waltz if memory served. I would have picked up the rest of the song had I been listening but I was mesmerised by how her phosphorescent eyes cavorted across the stage with the dancers. “Well, once our day starts officially, I was thinking of making you breakfast in bed," I pause for a moment and wrap my arms around her waist, "then I managed to score a private tour of the Oxford gardens. After the gardens, we can get a luncheon at a place of your choosing. I'll be sure to pay for us, " I send her a wink, "And then laissez le bon temps rouler".
She rolled her eyes at my Cajun French, our last anniversary trip, her suggestion being New Orleans, had ended with the both of us celebrating with new undead friends and lots of spirits that would make the living roll. "Reminding me of those nights in the French Quarter? I remember the last time I mentioned it to you at work, the blush on your face was cherry red and you mumbled for me to hush up for fear of who could hear". She looks at me quizzically before she lets out a light yawn, her sharp teeth almost making her resemble a cat yawning after being woken up from their noonly nap. " We still have a few more hours until we should start getting ready, my darling, I'm going to rest some more so we can be out as late as our bodies will let us”.
I nod some and pull her closer, our bodies already so tangled it would be hard to tell limb from limb in the morning, "I'm not stopping you from getting your beloved beauty rest, please, close your eyes and let your mind take you to its dream states.” I gaze at her lovingly for a moment before she shifts her head to rest on my chest, “je t'aime mon coeur.” I mumble to her.
She sighs happily as I speak to her in one of her mother tongues and orientates herself so her voice wouldn’t be obscured from being buried into my clavicle, “You dare speak to me in such a way before I must go to bed? You know I love it when you speak to me in French, mon amour… keep that up and I will have you speaking to me in only muffled breaths and heady wails,” A faint crimson swells within my vessels, “I may not be as good as I was when we visited the French Quarter, but I’m sure with enough petting we can compromise,” She pauses dramatically, “ Alas, we must wait until later, you still have a day planned and I’m sure you would love to be able to stand.” I can almost feel the cheeky grin that creeps onto her pale face.
I look down at her and shake my head at her slightly, “I sometimes wonder how I ended up marrying you, darling. But yes, with what I have for us tomorrow I believe it would be mutually beneficial if we were able to stand for long periods of time. Now get some more rest, you nympho-bastard”, I play at her as she pucks her lips up at me, I rest a kiss on her awaiting lips and mumble a small ‘I love you’ before she shuts her eyes.
To help guide her to rest I go back to humming the waltz I hardly remembered. She is one to fall asleep quickly when she hasn’t slept well, and today is a perfect example. Our supervisor has been working her to no end while I rest uneasily at the office when she doesn't return for our usual luncheon. She deserves these next few days off and the plans I have made for her, if not for her birthday, then for her sanity. Mr Spears be damned if he tries to call us in when she has so diligently changed her ways and became the respectable -yet flirty-  reaper I knew she could be, “I am so glad I married you, my beautiful wife, my ruby red reaper, the holder of my heart, my everything. Later will be filled with nothing but love and celebration of you. Just like those nights in the french quarter. Those nights we spent together I was worshipping you as you drank yourself to the floor and as I dragged you to bed to rest and recover for the next day of debauchery. I remember how the emeralds we have that are our eyes glimmered as you gazed at me from the bed while I tended to you, the soft mumble of ‘je t'aime’, ‘Mon amour, tu te soucies beaucoup de moi’ and with your arms out wide for me, ‘Viens me câliner, ma belle’”, I let out a light laugh that turns to a light yawn, “Your french is beautiful my darling, and I can only hope to reach your grace one day. We are guaranteed eternity so learning it and speaking it with you is only a matter of time”. I nestle closer to her and yawn once more, “Pour l'instant, laissez-nous dormir. Je t'aime, Grelle” I shut my eyes and sleep finds me almost instantly.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Some rough translations ~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Cajun French "laissez le bon temps rouler" "Let the good times roll"
French “je t'aime mon coeur” "I love you sweetheart" "mon amour" "my love" "je t'aime" "I love you" "Mon amour, tu te soucies beaucoup de moi" "My love, you care a lot for me" or "My love, you care a lot about me" "Viens me câliner, ma belle" "Come give me a hug, beautiful" “Pour l'instant, laissez-nous dormir. Je t'aime, Grelle” "For now, let us sleep. I love you, Grelle."

NASA experiment sheds light on highly charged moon dust
Researchers are studying data from a recent suborbital flight test to better understand lunar regolith, or moon dust, and its potentially damaging effects as NASA prepares to send astronauts back to the lunar surface under the Artemis campaign. The experiment, developed jointly by NASA and the University of Central Florida, sheds light on how these abrasive dust grains interact with astronauts, their spacesuits, and other equipment on the moon.
The Electrostatic Regolith Interaction Experiment (ERIE) was one of 14 NASA-supported payloads launched on Dec. 19 aboard Blue Origin's New Shepard uncrewed rocket from Launch Site One in West Texas. During the flight test, ERIE collected data to help researchers at the agency's Kennedy Space Center in Florida study tribocharging, or friction-induced charges, in microgravity.
The moon is highly charged by phenomena such as solar wind and ultraviolet light from the sun. Under those conditions, regolith grains are attracted to lunar explorers and their equipment—think of it as similar to the static created by rubbing a balloon on a person's head. Enough regolith can cause instruments to overheat or not function as intended.
"For example, if you get dust on an astronaut suit and bring it back into the habitat, that dust could unstick and fly around the cabin," said Krystal Acosta, a researcher for NASA's triboelectric sensor board component inside the ERIE payload. "One of the major problems is that there's no way to electrically ground anything on the moon. So even a lander, rover, or really any object on the moon will have polarity to it. There's no good solution to the dust charging problem right now."
A Kennedy team designed and built the triboelectric sensor board inside the ERIE payload, which reached an altitude of 351,248 feet aboard New Shepard. In the microgravity phase of this flight, dust grains simulating regolith particles brushed up against eight insulators within ERIE, creating a tribocharge. The electrometer measured the negative and positive charge of the simulated regolith as it traveled through an electric field applied during microgravity.
"We want to know what causes the dust to charge, how it moves around, and where it ultimately settles. The dust has rough edges that can scratch surfaces and block thermal radiators," said Jay Phillips, lead of Electrostatics Environments and Spacecraft Charging at NASA Kennedy.
The ERIE payload spent approximately three minutes in microgravity during the New Shepard capsule's suborbital flight, which lasted about 10 minutes before landing safely back on Earth in the Texas desert. A camera recorded the interactions, and Philips and his team are reviewing the data.
The results will inform applications for future missions destined for the lunar surface. For example, by using triboelectric sensors on a rover's wheels, astronauts can measure the positive and negative charges between the vehicle and regolith on the lunar surface. The end goal is to develop technologies that will help keep it from sticking to and damaging astronaut suits and electronics during missions.
The flight was supported by the Flight Opportunities program, part of NASA's Space Technology Mission Directorate, which rapidly demonstrates space technologies with industry flight providers.
