It's December 10th, 🧨 Nobel Prize Day. These prizes honor Alfred Bernhard Nobel, a Swedish engineer, chemist, entrepreneur, and philanthropist. They recognize outstanding achievements in various fields in the arts and sciences. Nobel Prize Day is a tribute to the man who conceived of and instituted the prizes. 

As a young man, Nobel invented dynamite as a superior and more stable version of nitroglycerin. He later invented an even better alternative to dynamite – gelignite. This became a staple in mining operations and, along with advanced military weaponry which he also invented, made him rich. 

One story has it that toward the end of his life, when a French newspaper carried a premature obituary of Nobel criticizing him for his role in warfare, he re-evaluated his life and decided to use his wealth to set up prizes to recognize the best in humanity. The Nobel Prizes are considered by most to be the world's most prestigious awards. 

On this day in 1901, the Nobel Foundation awarded its first Nobel Prizes – in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, and Peace. In 1969, the foundation added the Nobel Prize in Economics. At least one prize has been awarded every year since 1901 except for 1940-1942 when World War II intervened. Today, on the anniversary of Nobel’s death in 1896, the 2022 Nobel Prizes will be handed out for achievements in Physics, Chemistry, Physiology or Medicine, Literature, Economics, and ☮️ Peace… Jamiese of Pixoplanet
