OC kiss week: ellinor x la’ara

“There’s not much to it,” La’ara says, flitting about the kitchen, gathering mixing bowls and a whisk and a spoon and a scale. 

Ellinor nods, unashamed to admit—at least to herself—that she’s far more interested in the beautiful elf working in front of her than she is in cake. She doesn’t have a sweet tooth. She never has.

“You just start with the dry ingredients,” they say, and Ellinor hoists herself up to the table, swinging her legs slowly in front of her. It’s all she can do not to put her chin in her hands watching them. “Now I know you’re not much of a cook, Ellinor, but this recipe is so simple even you could…” 

Ellinor tunes them out, instead focusing on the way they tuck a stand of blonde hair behind their ear with delicate, slender fingers. Lovely fingers. Lovely La’ara.

“...and then whisk until all your dry ingredients are combined.”

With one arm masterfully whisking the mix and the other holding the bowl to them as you would a lover during a dance, they bring the mixture over to Ellinor so she can see, as though it’s the contents and not the chef that has her interest.

“Lovely,” Ellinor says, more to La’ara than to the cake itself, though she’s doubtful that they notice.

“And then you just want to fold in your wet ingredients slowly…”

Ellinor tunes out again, giving up altogether to lean her chin upon one of her fists, eyeing La’ara’s movements as they finally pour the batter into a pan and push it into the oven.

It’s when they take their apron off that Ellinor straightens, perks up.

“You can lick the spoon, if you like,” La’ara offers, and she shrugs.

“You go ahead.”

They hum, a little smile flickering at the corners of their lips, and taste the batter.

“Is it good? Ellinor asks.

“Mhm.”

When they turn around again, their face is flushed, and Ellinor gestures, come here. “You got a little on your face, La.”

“Oh?”

“Yes. Let me get it.”

They stop in front of her, tilting their cheek up to look at her, and Ellinor cups their jaw in her hand.

“Just…” she says slowly, leaning in until she can feel the warmth radiating from their lips, hear the breath leaving their lungs, “here.” Quickly, she licks the corner of their mouth, enough to elicit a small squeak from them, and she grins. “Got it.”

“Ellinor,” La’ara admonishes, and Ellinor smirks, leaning in to kiss them properly now. “If all you wanted was to—to—well, you could have just said so.”

“I could have,” Ellinor admits. “But that was much more fun.”

Finally finished both of La'ara's tarot cards! The Page of Wands is her companion card/pre-Inquisition card, while the Queen of Wands is their Inquisitor card. Both signify a curious spirit, with negative sides of uncertainty.
