what do u think the oou characters look like?

This is such a good question agggh!!!!

Addy: During oouin I imagined her to have a grown out purple bob that barely touched her shoulders. i've thought of her as being really pale - bordering ghostly.

Bronwyn: I've always imagined Bronwyn with long wavy brown hair - and obviously her grey eyes. I also feel like she would be quite tall (around 5'6 or 5'7).

Cooper: In my mind Cooper has a blonde crew cut in oouil - then quite long floppy hair in oouin. He is also a short king and you cannot convince me otherwise.

Nate: He's always been quite hard for me to picture tbh. If I had to describe him, he has dark brown hair that is not floppy but also isn't short?? Maybe a 5 0'clock shadow???

Maeve: Chestnut brown shoulder length hair with blonde and auburn highlights (this is so specific, but Maeve is such a vivid character for me to picture, I just can't help it). She also has a smattering of freckles on her nose and quite a soft, heart shaped face.

Luis: The tallest of the group by a MILE. He has black hair that is short on the sides but long on the top. I've also imagined him with 2 moles on the right side of his face for some reason? Ooh, he also has a strong nose that is a little bit bent from being broken so many times.

Phoebe: Copper red hair that reaches the middle of her back, with a bit of a wave to it. Her whole body is covered in freckles in true redhead fashion. I also think she would have quite prominent eyebrows.

Knox: Blonde crew cut style hair - almost a buzz cut. Long, lanky limbs. a scrawny white boy, if you will.

Kris: Short fluffy, light brown hair. an oval type face with ridiculously long lashes. I also feel like he would around the same height as Luis.

Izzie’s One of Us is Back Celebration (Day 15)

headcanons: kris, maeve, cooper, & luis’s friendship

maeve doesn’t really hang out with all three of them until a few months into her relationship with luis

it’s not that she doesn’t like them it’s just that they’re never all in the same place at the same time

the first time they do something together they go for a walk in the bayview arboretum

it’s still luis’s happy place, even though some of it was ruined by the bomb

maeve spends the entire time talking to kris about books that they’ve both read while cooper and luis toss a ball between them

“how do they walk and play catch at the same time?” maeve asks kris

kris just grins “i do not pretend to know their ways, maeve”

they always find themselves outside

maeve isn’t a big fan, but it’s hard to toss a ball around inside and cooper has decided that kris doesn’t spend enough time in the sun

“you’re basically a ghost, kris” he’s always saying whenever kris complains

luis, cooper, and maeve have a text chain to keep each other up to date on how kris is doing

it’s equal parts sweet and chaotic

“did kris eat something today”

“i saw him eat a granola bar on tuesday”

“that was three days ago luis!!!”

so many long drives that usually end at the beach

maeve taught cooper how to make a daisy chain once and every time they’re in a field he makes everyone crowns

it’s the cutest thing ever

maeve has way less energy than the boys, so every once in a while they have a day when they stay in and just hang out

kris studies, maeve reads, luis tries out new recipes, and cooper curls up against kris’s side and reads out ingredients and instructions to luis

they always show up to each other’s events

the boys go to maeve’s high school graduation

maeve, luis, and kris always make sure to go to cooper’s games

kris, maeve, and cooper are always cheering luis on at his pickup football games 

(even though none of them understand the sport and therefore sometimes cheer at the wrong times)

luis, maeve, and cooper go to kris’s graduation too

they also always drop him off and pick him up at the airport when he takes trips home to germany

maeve’s parents adore cooper, kris, and luis

and kris’s family has meet the other three briefly via facetime and they love that kris has great friends

oh boy they’ve adopted cooper, kris, and maeve

maeve, cooper, luis, and kris will talk about anything and they’re the closest out of the bayview crew

they throw maeve a little party when she commits to a college

and they all ask her to teach them spanish when she decides to become a spanish teacher

even luis which maeve finds silly since he speaks spanish better than she does

they make dinner together once a week, and every week one person picks the dish

luis always chooses things he wants to put on contigo’s menu

cooper usually goes for the southern food he grew up eating

kris introduces them to food he ate when he was in germany

maeve chooses whatever she’s feeling at the moment, but it’s usually ajiaco

they end up living near each other when they’re older

maeve goes to college in new england and the separation was the worst thing that happened to all of them

she went to grad school in california because she couldn’t stand being away from her friends for so long

cooper, kris, and luis think it’s hilarious that maeve ends up teaching at bayview high

luis helps cooper propose to kris

and maeve helps kris propose to cooper

and since luis and maeve basically share a brain they separately tell both boys to basically do the same thing at the same time

it’s the most chaotic, hilarious proposal ever and yet somehow incredibly perfect

maeve and luis just wake up one day after luis’s restaurant is stable and decide to get married

cooper and kris are so irritated about that because they wanted to help plan the wedding

but like they’re not that irritated because it’s very in character for maeve and luis

maeve, kris, and cooper are the first people to eat at luis’s restaurant

also kris and cooper were told beforehand that the restaurant would be named after maeve and her reaction when she finds out is so cute they all end up crying for nearly half an hour

neither couple has biological kids (maeve and luis foster and eventually adopt, and kris and cooper adopt and eventually foster) but the rest of the bayview crew turn to them for help when babysitting

they’re truly just best friends who adore each other so much and make each other’s lives so much better

oou handwriting headcanons ♡

bronwyn: bron went to catholic elementary school, therefore she was forced to write cursive from second grade and onward. that bitch has the handwriting of a founding father sorry

addy: she’s got that classic popular girl handwriting and she only writes in pink or purple pens

phoebe: phoebe has that super cute handwriting with all of the hearts and stuff. her handwriting feels like a hug, if that makes any sense

cooper: this man canonically can’t write. he usually writes with his nondominant hand, meaning he has the handwriting of a drunk third grader. (that was an awful metaphor but the point is he can’t write, with either hand. chicken scratch.)

kris: his brain moves faster than his hand, so his handwriting is really slanted, close together, and smudged. he also starts his letters in different places than the bayview four & co because he learned to write in a different way. this instance has caused a few debates (no that totally isn’t based of my mom aunts and cousin vs me n brother)

knox: he’s got like,,, old man handwriting??? only capital letters

nate: his handwriting is huge. and very pointy.

maeve: she writes in times new roman

luis: hes got. really cool handwriting. idk its just interesting to look at. he writes all of the chalkboards at café contigo

Bronwyn: Diana

Both grew up with very high expectations from their respective families (plus they're both, like, rich) and care deeply about their friends. I guess you could also say Anne because of how quick both are to take action but overall Diana's a better fit.

Maeve: Ka'kwet

Both curious, intelligent, extremely determined and strong individuals, despite the struggles each has faced. They are both remarkably strong-willed and find solutions in impossible situations.

Cooper: Matthew

Kinda unconventional pick because of the obvious differences, but both are sorta shy, dad-figures, sooooo full of unconventional love and just generally adorable.

Kris: Gilbert

Medical kings + just so loving and kind and smart and lovely? Both of these characters own my heart and are the best boyfriends to their respective partners.

Knox: Moody

The definition of 'sweet but no brain.' Both characters are pushed to the side a little on account of the strong personalities by which they are surrounded but are well-liked due to their easygoing personality as well as their humour. They are both brave when they need to be and eager to help their friends on their missions.

Addy: Anne

Oh, Addy and Anne. Are there any characters as sweet and messy as these two? They both mean so well but occasionally fuck up trying to save themselves or their loved ones and value family and friends alongside their lives, not to mention that they both underestimate themselves from time-to-time.

Luis: Sebastian

They just have the same vibes. Flirty, kinda dumb but also really clever and obsessed with their girlfriends.

Nate: Cole

An out of pocket pick for Bayview's fave criminal, but the similarities between Cole and Nate are more than you'd initially think: they're both outcasts of sorts who are lonely and quiet, but brilliant in their own rights (even if they do underestimate themselves). They don't have the best family lives but they treasure time spent with friends; their school lives aren't the best either, being misunderstood by the students and teachers at their schools, and are susceptible to fits of rage. And also the Addy/Nate and Anne/Cole relationship parallels????? Perfection.

Phoebe: Mary

She's smart, sassy, soft-hearted and strong. Am I talking about Mary Lacroix or Phoebe Lawton? Who knows. They're both just amazing characters who loved people so much and deserved so much better.

if you could assign love languages to the oou characters that aren't the main ones what would they be? like something that you think a character does to express their love for people that is kind of unique to them?

ooo i love this question so much! i feel like my answers fall under the 5 love languages but i like the specificity of these ones

bronwyn: writing notes

she never fell out of the habit of writing notes for people that she developed in middle school before she was allowed to have a phone, so when she wants to tell someone something quickly, she writes it on the corner of a paper in her notebook and tears it off to hand to someone. after some time, it becomes something she does for people she loves: slipping love notes into the pockets of nate’s hoodies, writing words of encouragement and affirmation for addy and cooper, and even just writing “i love you” on a napkin she hands to her sister. every single notebook bronwyn owns is filled with torn up pages and scraggly ends but she wouldn’t have it any other way. 

nate: showing up

nate’s not very loud when it comes to loving people — he doesn’t really tell people how much they mean to him. so instead he just makes sure to be in the stands when cooper’s got a game, or in the audience when bronwyn’s playing piano at a concert. he even starts going to knox’s musicals. and when maeve has a bad day, he’s there at the entrance to bayview high with his motorcycle and an extra helmet so that they can get far enough away for Maeve’s problems to disappear. 

cooper: “i’m here if you want to talk” texts

a big thing for cooper is making sure that his loved ones know they’re got someone in their corner no matter what because for a long time cooper didn’t feel like he’d be supported because he didn’t fit the southern jock mould. so now, whenever he thinks someone’s upset he’ll text them and say “hey i noticed you were a little off today, it’s okay if you don’t but i’m here if you want to talk” and to this day he still doesn’t know how much people value those texts. he really is just the sweetheart of the group. 

addy: “this made me think of you” gifts

this girl knows people inside and out. she’ll walk past a stationery store and instantly go inside to find a new notebook for bronwyn, a set of highlighters for knox, and pens for kris. every time she goes to a grocery store she picks up red vines for cooper and chocolate for phoebe. she loves going into jewelry shops to find new earrings for maeve, and she loves gift shops because they always have fun potholders or cooking spoons that she can give luis. 

kris: saying “text me when you get home”

every time, without a fail, when kris and his friends part ways to go home kris will remind them to text him when they’ve safely returned. it doesn’t matter if it’s the middle of the night or midmorning, he has to make sure that his loved ones know that he cares that they’re safe. and he will call after an hour if someone forgets to text, and everyone thinks that his friends would be annoyed by the constant reminder, but they actually love knowing that someone is out there worrying about them and their safety. 

luis: making coffee

never once has anyone payed for coffee when luis makes it. it’s his way of telling people that he cares about them. making food has always been easy to luis, and a show of affection. over time he learns that knox prefers vanilla lattes over caramel ones, but maeve is the opposite. or that phoebe always gets decaf because caffeine gives her a headache. and he knows exactly how much sugar kris takes in his coffee, and how pale addy’s coffee always is. he knows coop prefers light roast and nate takes dark, and that bronwyn hardly ever drinks coffee so instead he’ll give her tea. 

maeve: giving rides

in both books maeve has given many people rides, and it’s just her way of being there for people. like nate, she’s not openly affectionate, but she is more than willing to drive someone somewhere. when addy had a concussion and a broken ankle, it was maeve who drove her to school every day. after emma stopped going to school, maeve was the one who picked up phoebe so she wouldn’t have to walk over a mile. when nate’s arm was in a sling, maeve took him to doctor’s appointments. 

knox: accompanying someone when they’re nervous

knox understands what it’s like to feel anxious about things, and he doesn’t want people to have to go through that too. so if someone has a drs appointment (see: maeve and her blood tests) he’ll go with them and sit in the waiting room, or if someone doesn’t know how to get somewhere he’ll go with them. he’s good with public transportation so he’s always willing to take the bus with a friend.

phoebe: waiting

she's always so willing to sit with someone in the waiting room at a doctor's appointment, or in line to make a purchase, or after an event that's run long so that the person she's with doesn't have to go home in the dark alone. she just makes sure that people know that they've got someone who will stay with them when they otherwise would be left to their own devices.

rating the driving abilities of the oou characters ♡

i do not have my license.

cooper: he’s an amazing driver. it just comes naturally to him. though, to be fair, his uncle started teaching him how to drive when he was 10. 12/10

kris: i mean. he drives really, really fast. he’s a very safe driver, he just sort of views speed limits as suggestions. the rest of the crew refuses to drive his car because he has so many decorations on the rear view mirror/dashboard. he’s a good driver, just slightly chaotic. 8/10

addy: she cannot drive. nobody ever bothered to teach her and she didn’t care enough to ask. that is, until her and cooper got close and he tried teaching her. he drove them to an empty parking, and then swapped seats with addy. it did not go well. she slammed the brakes 17 times, almost crashed into a light post 9 times, and knocked over a stray shopping cart. she was only in the drivers seat for fifteen minutes. -10/10 

nate: he knows how to drive a car, he just never does. he lives in socal so, as soon as he got a motorcycle license, he just started riding that year round. he’s not good at driving cars. 5/10

bronwyn: she’s a decent driver. however, she can only drive her car because she’s accustomed to the really nice cars, and everything else feels too unfamiliar and weird. would be ten out of ten but points off for being an obnoxious rich girl. 9/10

luis: his main car is that worn out van? yeah, he can drive. 10/10

phoebe: well. she has her license. she knows what she’s doing, and she very well could be a good driver, she just panics on the road and isn’t super confident in her abilities. she can easily raise her score with practice but for now. 4/10

knox: i like to think that he failed his driver’s test the first two times, and then decided to wait until college to try again. 0/10

maeve: similar abilities to bronwyn, but maeve’s not so out of touch. she has also driven luis’ van, which is a feat unto itself. good for her. 10/10
