The Knesset approved on Monday evening the so-called Al Jazeera law, giving the government temporary powers to prevent foreign news networks from operating in Israel if they are deemed by the security services to be harming national security.

The law passed 71 to 10 in its second and third readings in the Knesset plenum.

Communications Minister Shlomo Karhi, who spearheaded the effort to pass the law, vowed immediately after the final vote that the Qatari-funded Al Jazeera news channel would be closed down “in the coming days,” saying “there won’t be freedom of expression for Hamas mouthpieces in Israel.”

Karhi, a member of the hardline flank of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s Likud party, continued: “We have brought to fruition an effective and swift tool against those who use freedom of the press to harm Israel’s security and IDF soldiers, and who incite to terrorism during a time of war.”

The US expressed concern over the legislation, with White House Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre saying: “We believe in the freedom of the press. It is critically important. The United States supports the critically important work journalists around the world do, and that includes those who are reporting on the conflict in Gaza. If those reports are true, it is concerning to us.”

In an earlier statement, Netanyahu’s Likud party said that the prime minister would “act immediately to close Al Jazeera” in accordance with the terms of the new law.

Can we all please just admit that Israel is an apartheid state now? There can be no denying it now that a man who celebrated the assassination of Yitzhak Rabin for merely attempting peace with Palestinians is now in power. Someone who’s used the most unabashedly genocidal language in regards to Palestinians. If you live in the US or anywhere else that gives money or aid to Israel, we need to contact our officials in any way we can and demand that the billions of tax dollars coming out of our pockets to prop up Israel’s violent regime be stopped, or else they can’t count on our votes. En 42 ans le Hezbollah a perpétré une vingtaine d'attentats dont la majorité l'a été à l'encontre de Juifs, ou d'Israéliens. 1987 Création du 'Hamas par les Frères musulmans. Entre avril 1993 et 2005, le Hamas organise plusieurs dizaines d'attentats-suicide visant des civils. En avril 2006 il cesse les attentats terroristes, il s'oriente vers le tir de roquettes Qassam et de missile Grad vers les villes du sud d'Israël: Ashdod, Ashkelon, Beer-Sheva, Sdérot. Entre 1987 et 2024 Israël a mené 7 guerres contre le 'Hamas toujours à l'initiative de celui-ci, dont l'actuelle démarrée le 7 Octobre. Le Hezbollah classé organisation terroriste - Le Hezbollah est classé par de nombreux pays (Argentine, Australie, Colombie, États-Unis, Malaisie, Royaume-Uni) comme une organisation terroriste. - Le 22 juillet 2013, suite à l'attentat de Bourgas, la Bulgarie demande le classement du Hezbollah comme une organisation terroriste, à la demande de la France, l'Union européenne classe la branche militaire du Hezbollah sur sa liste des organisations terroristes alors que le parti politique Hezbollah en est dispensé. Malgré les alertes de Benyamin Netanyahou, au Congrès lors d'un discours prémonitoire, un accord munichois a été signé, qui n'a jamais été respecté par l'Iran. Ce dernier est en phase terminale pour l'obtention de la bombe. L'invasion du 7 Octobre était destinée à gagner un peu de répit pour y arriver. Les sanctions à l'encontre de l'Iran ne l'ont pas freiné dans sa course à la bombe ni dans sa propagation du terrorisme dans le monde. Les sanctions à l'encontre de la Russie ne l'ont pas empêché d'entrer en guerre contre l'Ukraine depuis 2 ans et demi. L'agression directe massive du 14 avril aurait pu générer de nombreux morts si elle n'avait été stoppée à 99%. Cette agression ne peut rester sans suite. Ne pas répondre, pour Israël, ce serait faire preuve de couardise. Face à un pays musulman, Israël ne peut raisonner à l'occidentale. L'Islam ne reconnaît que la force, si Israël ne répond pas, les accords d'Abraham qui sont des accords de défense passeront à la trappe. Les pays arabe scrutent les moindres réactions, et ne laisseront pas passer l'attentisme. "Iran, la riposte, où, quand, comment. La seule question qui ne se pose pas est doit-on y aller?" Israël doit donc répondre, c'est le rôle du Gouvernement de prendre cette décision. Où, quand, comment? C'est le rôle de l'armée de présenter des plans qui seront validés par le Gouvernement.
