walt ‘motion sick’ world
Okay as part of a fic/art trade, I’m writing a little something something for @lickstynine‘s OCs Kit and Ellery based off the first choice on this post
Warning: Emeto
Warning: I’m nervous af to write for someone else’s OCs, but I’ve been reading up on Kit and Ellery and adore both, so here goes nothing!
“Walt Disney World,” Kit mutters, lips curling up into a soft smile as studied eyes scan the massive sign hanging before the two. “Where Dreams Come True.” He adds, arching a brow as he drags his gaze toward Ellery. “Do you suppose we’ll have our dreams come true?”
Dreams; Ellery considers the word. Just standing here is a dream within itself, he thinks, still utterly shocked at Kit’s easy decision to drop a load of money for the two to fly to Florida for their first date. And while the flight had been rough, with multiple trips to the bathroom to empty the little contents of his stomach, his previous discomfort has been abruptly forgotten as he becomes borderline mesmerized by the popping colors of the sign and the faint music fading out from the theme park
“It’ll be a dream if you don’t fry under this sun,” Ellery answers, voice holding an edge of worry as his gaze flicks away from the sign to Kit’s porcelain skin.
“I won’t,” Kit says, tone cool, reassuring, so much that it pulls Ellery in like metal to a magnet.
“Okay,” Ellery breathes out, placing his confidence in Kit’s relaxed shoulders as the two walk hand-in-hand into the park.
It takes twenty minutes to fully reach the heart of the park for Ellery stops to gawk at every little thing: the benches with Disney characters seated, actors sporting flowing, glittery outfits and wide smiles, clusters of flowers framing the walkways, and people- masses and masses of people all exhibiting varying degrees of excitement that smooths over Ellery’s heart like a warm contagion. There’s so much to take in that he gets lost within the wonder of the park, but he’s ripped from his daze when Kit points toward a massive, wooden roller coaster in the near distance.
“Let’s go on that one first.”
“Starting big, yeah?” Ellery mutters along a nervous laugh while he eyes the cracking, trembling wood as the two approach the ride.
“Why not?” Kit says with a shrug, and Ellery can do nothing but follow Kit toward the wavy line of guests waiting to board the ride.
The wait has Ellery trembling slightly as his stomach twists from the mere sight of the ride, but he keeps his expression as cool as Kit’s demeanor despite his heart fluttering uncomfortably against his chest. And, he maintains this facade, even as the two slip into their seats when their turn arrives, yet his hands find the metal bar in front of the two, and he grips the bar tight enough to have his dark  knuckles fading to white as the ride rumbles to life.
While Kit and the others on the ride scream excitedly, Ellery keeps his lips pressed firmly closed and his eyes squeezed tightly shut as their carts whip around sharp turns and jolt down big drops. He sucks in quick breaths through his nose while mentally counting in his head to distract himself, and before he knows it, the cart is coming to a stuttering stop.
The two exit with the crowd, and it isn’t until they’re completely away from the ride that Kit turns to Ellery with a raised brow.
“Alright?”
Ellery’s legs are shaking, and his stomach is twisting into an uncomfortable knot that pulses into a painful cramp, but he nods along a shaky sigh and forces his lips up into a careful smile.
“First ride jitters,” he lies, and Kit studies him for what feels like an endless moment before accepting the answer with a quick nod as he extends his hand.
“Ready to go uncover more dreams?”
Ellery’s clammy hand finds Kit’s, and their fingers intertwine. Ellery focuses Kit, falling head first into the grounded charm that is the young man walking beside him.
*****
Ellery had found himself building a wall as the two bounced from ride to ride; he’s been nothing but determined to hide the nausea running rampant inside his stomach, but his wall’s crumbling fast, and the moment the fifth ride the two have gone on stops, his wall collapses under the weight of his heavy, churning stomach.
He scrambles down the steps leading off the ride, legs buckling with each step, and the second he’s back on the ground, he quickly scans the surrounding area until he’s bolting toward a bright pink waste bin with Minnie Mouse’s face plastered across the side.
He can faintly hear Kit calling out to him despite his heart thundering in his ears, but he pushes forward until he’s gripping the edges of the waste bin just as his stomach lurches violently, bringing with it an acidic mix of watery bile that burns against his throat.
A hand falls against his back while a second smooths his hair from his clammy face.
“Are you alright?” Kit asks, tone thick with sudden concern as Ellery trembles under his hand.
Ellery lifts his head to meet Kit’s eyes, but a belch clips the words right from his tongue, and he turns his face back to the bin as his stomach lurches for a second time, bringing burning waves of bile that he heaves into the bin.
Kit’s silent as Ellery vomits; he only keeps a steady hand to Ellery’s shaking back, completely ignoring the varying looks of other guests as he pulls his entire focus to Ellery.
It’s five minutes until Ellery’s stomach settles, leaving him panting over the waste bin as sweat drips from his temples. Slowly, he straightens his back and turns an embarrassed gaze toward Kit.
“I apologize,” he starts, voice but a painful rasp that only has him wincing when he tries to clear his throat. “My stomach simply did not agree with that last roller coaster, but I’m alright now.”
Kit’s brows pull together as he takes in Ellery’s pale, damp face. “You’re alright now?”
“Yes,” Ellery says, forcing his voice to sound confident, easy. “We can go on.”
“You want to continue after that?” Kit questions slowly with a small gesture toward the waste bin. “You’re able to continue?”
“Yes,” Ellery presses, prepared to argue that he’s a nurse and knows what he’s talking about, but Kit tilts his head slightly, hair slipping over his shoulder as he trains a studied gaze on Ellery’s poor pallor.
“I’m not entirely sure about that,” Kit counters, but before Ellery can press further along his facade that’s cracking once more with each tremble of his limbs, Kit’s holding a hand up as he drags his gaze toward the relentless sun.
“How about a rest? Somewhere cool and shady. My skin is beginning to feel rather warm.”
Ellery’s attention moves from the dull nausea still twisting in his stomach to Kit’s faintly pink cheeks. “You’re right,” he starts. “We wouldn’t want you to burn.”
Kit holds out a hand once more, and Ellery is quick to take it, palm trembling against Kit’s warm, steady one.
“We’ll get some water and cool off out of the sun- see how we’re both feeling after that, alright?”
Kit’s tone is so calm and easy that Ellery can’t help but nod, already swayed by the simple plan as the two start toward the closest restaurant.
