Little baby Astarion from that pic was too cute for me to handle.

But fun fact: Callum’s appearance is based off of the male protagonist from a novel I wrote like ten years ago. And THAT GUY was based off Teddy Lupin from that one famous book series that has a piece of shit author (you know the one.) And then my Tav (Robyn) is lowkey based off the female protagonist from the same novel.

forgive me if this sounds dismissive, but im curious how kid-starion is still... astarion. Like yeah its his name but everything about his childhood and life was kinda erased when he became a spawn. Is there something tragic in kid-starions future that turns him into a facimile of the character, or is he speculative of what astarions life might have been if he was never turned?

I think you have put more thought into this ask than i have into the au haha. I think the only thing making kidstarion astarion is the viewer having a connection to his character. Its nice to draw him getting comfort and love without having all the boundaries and trauma to work through, and a baby is a very easy way to do that. It's more of an au for people that want comfort content than it is for plot.

Was talking abt this with weatheredlaw and love the idea that Gale sticks around Reithwin to teach the kids with budding magic how to control their outbursts, which are especially bad considering their situation...

Really though he's just dad 2.0 and he's there because I like him and Halsin together.

Halsin with all the orphans in the epilogue would not get out of my head. What if Astarion was one of them, orphaned after the events of act 3. I think he'd be an upper city baby, mostly cared for by his nanny (and cat).
