Idiots misunderstanding words

You know what gets my goat when it comes to various KHR fanfics? The many people who don’t seem to understand something when referring to the main character Tsuna. Specifically his title of “Dame-Tsuna”. Many times now I’ve seen authors refer to Tsuna as being “a dame”, but the thing with that is that it Doesn’t Make Sense grammatically if you’re referring to him properly or with the proper translation. Some people don’t seem to understand that the Japanese word “dame” - pronounced daw-may, not like the english slang word “daym” to which means “a girl or woman” - translates to “useless” or “no-good”. So to read a story that have sentences like “He’s a dame” or “Yes, a complete dame” makes me mad and annoyed because the author seems to be stupidly writing “He’s a no-good/useless” or “Yes, a complete no-good/useless” which makes no sense to those of us who translate that stuff as we read! He is “Dame/No-Good”, not a “Dame/No-Good” (to which one can also argue that it implies/makes it seem that he’s just one of many who’re “Dame/No-Good”) and to write otherwise is frustrating to read because my brain is telling me the author is an idiot who doesn’t know how to write proper sentence structure.

TL;DR Whenever referring to Tsuna’s title or the use of the Japanese word of “dame” in KHR fanfic, please remember that it means “No-good/Useless” and structure your sentences accordingly. You look like an idiot to anyone who knows that you don’t understand the concept of Tsuna’s Protagonist-Vice/Flaw or how to correctly show its usage in your story.

BnHA Chapter 003: Superhero Academy Entrance Exam

Chapter 3 of my not-actually-live liveblog of Boku no Hero Academia! And I have to say, this one is my favorite chapter so far. We’ve got new characters, we’ve got weird video game point challenges, and we’ve got a new crowning moment of awesome for our protagonist! All this, and a guy with the power of jeans. What more could I ask for in life.

Notes: As of posting this I’ve read up through chapter 6 of the manga and watched episodes 1-5 of the anime. My comments (aside from ETAs), however, are from my initial readthrough of the chapter and are unedited. And despite residing here on tumblr where BnHA is a trending tag like every week, I somehow continue to remain almost totally unspoiled (boy that feels like I’m jinxing it).

For the One Piece x KHR crossover, maybe the box animals are Kotatsu (lynx, Ace/Hide's), Sunny and Merry (goat and lion, Yoshi/Luffy's), dragon (Sabo/Iesada), (Laboon (whale, Brook), tiger (Zoro), crane (Robin), cat (Nami), swan (Sanji), Arabian Oryx (Vivi) etc.

Oh! These are really close, actually! Although I was thinking of giving Robin a sea turtle, and Vivi gets a flock of ducks. As for Merry, she was going to be Usopp’s box animal. Franky’s is going to be a Seahorse, and of course Jimbei gets a whale shark.

Your khr/mha xover posts reminded me about one thing which i find kinda puzzling and frustrating. So, I love both khr and mha and tried to read khrxmha fics with Tsuna (because he is my favorite). And almost in every fic Tsuna flinchs when someone touchs him or even just tries to talk with him and generally acts as if he is afraid of being hurt. I can't really grasp why people write him like this. Tsuna doesn't seem to be like this in canon. Or am I missing something?

god thats SUCH a funny leftover from KHR that has gotten my goat for ages. tsuna has never been physically abused and frequently exhibits frustration with the fact that he’s now getting assaulted (where he wasn’t before) because of the weird bullshit his friends do. He’s a victim of emotional abuse, that’s why he has...symptoms of emotional abuse trauma..........lol?

tsuna’s coping mechanism is and always has been “haha! i sure am useless! that’s right! im scum! i don’t deserve to live! great joke guys” which is heart-breaking the longer he does it but worlds away from izuku’s Baggage
