i didnt read the Whole proship/anti info post but it + your reply (well thought out and written nicely!) made me realize like ah. thats why "proship" ppl act like that. they think its exclusively about like, weird fandom shit and not like "hey this is extremely uncomfortable you probably shouldnt be posting this publicly" if that makes sense. its the lack of self awareness
YEAH LITERALLY while i can't say No Anti Ever cares , i doubt the majority of antis care that someone ships like . a weird crossover ship or characters who don't really interact or characters with a more complex/nuanced relationship or even if someone has weird kinks . proshippers seem to think we go after Every Single Thing with even a hint of " problematic " aspects and proceed to like . monster's inc style isolate and try to destroy it in a panic JHDGSFHKJSF when in reality most of us don't give a shit and only really care when it comes to condoning that behavior
and honestly , i think a lot of proshippers ( even ones who are aware antis specifically take issue with romanticization ) when saying things like " fiction doesn't impact reality " ... don't actually understand the concept of fiction impacting reality ? because these are often the same people praising representation in media or criticizing bigoted jokes/tropes , which ... is fiction impacting reality . if fiction doesn't impact reality , representation doesn't matter , because it's Just Fiction

can i please ask why you dislike/hate the new ghost song?

ALRIGHT SO first off yall should prob know i have a little thing valled histrionic personality disorder, or hpd. the symptoms include craving attention, being theatrical, changing yourself/acting out to get attention, and mood swings. candle queen takes a lot of these symptoms and demonizes them.
even the first verse does this; “ever since she was a child, she always knew how to get her way; just act a little bit wild and someone will surely come to play”. This shows that the candle queen has been exibiting symptoms of the early stages of hpd since she was young.
i cant speak for everyone, but for me, my hpd resulted from abuse. plus, acting out is a sign of child abuse, whether it be acting out in a sexual manner (a sign of csa) or acting out in “temper tantrums”. i experienced the second trait often, and its sad to see it demonized. it’s not good, but it’s a sign of something worse.
the next verse implies she stays like this as she gets older, aka hpd fully develops. this also happened with me.
a line that rlly bothers me is “toddler’s cries that grow louder and louder” because it takes the aforementioned trait of acting out and turns it into candle queen being childish and dramatic.
the entire song implies candle queen changes herself to be paid attention to, which, yes, is morally wrong, but is a coping mechansim for hpd used all the time by histrionics. seeing it shwon as just pure “uwu shes evil” is… sad.
the song even has a throw-off line- “addicted to adrenaline”- which represents a symptom of hpd i personally experience a lot due to conflicts with my adhd: craving stimulation and new experiences.
the song has one aside verse about how she’s also manipulative, which isn’t excusable in the slightest (being manipulative is 1000% abusive), but it goes right back to “UWU SHES GWEEDY FOR ATTENTION” in the chrous and next verse
one of the final verses says she just needs to “chill”, which pisses me the fuck OFF, because 1: “histrionic” LITERALLY means theatrical, 2: a symptom of hpd is extreme emotions and moodswings, and 3: IT’S NOT THAT FUCKING EASY TO RECOVER FROM HPD BELIEVE ME IF IT WAS I WOULDNT FUCKING HAVE HPD IN THE FIRST PLACE BECAUSE I WOULDVE GONE “oh yeah i need to chill out!!!!” AND THEN CURED MYSELF speaking for myself i KINOW i need to chill out bu7t i CANT im doing my best to recover but surprise surprise im GONNA SHOW SYMPTOMS SOMETIMES???
I UNDERSTAND IF THEYRE TOXIC SYMPTOMS THEN THATS WHEN YOU GO “HEY MAYBE DONT??” BUT IF ITS USING COPING MECHANISMS FOR YOUR DISORDER AND BEING DEMONIZED FOR THE DISORDER ITSELF THATS REALLY FUCKING HURTFUL

ANYWAYS it ends with the histrionic-implied character being abandoned by her friends because of her disorder. fun.
tl;dr i hate this ableist awful shitty song with my entire being and wish it didnt exist
edit: i’d like to say i don’t blame either creator for the ableism in this song. i emailed ghost, and they said they recognized it but didn’t know how to pull it up with lauren/silver chord, who wrote the lyrics. lauren stated she wrote the song based off a toxic person she knew who was intentionally bad.
i don’t blame either of them, once more, and the tune/lyric composition/art/etc for the song is actually great! i just hate the underlying ableism of the whole thing, intentional or not
