You would look wonderful in a dress, Kdin. Also they are really comfortable.

So backstory to the “I’d like to, but…” on me wearing dresses/skirts.

The year I planned to come out (2016) I spent the entire year posting my Mii (from Miitomo) in dresses. I collected EVERY SINGLE DRESS (and skirt) in the game.

I posted them weekly on social media, and it was a ton of fun.

Some folks close to me were very “😒” about it, but it was small bits of self validation I needed to build up courage to come out as trans.

November 2016 happened (bluh) and I came out by kicking the door open and screaming it from the metaphorical rooftops, suddenly the 3ish people who knew I was trans turned into 300,000+ people in a matter of moments, and grew into the millions after that.

I decided “okay, time to post a dress picture for real” - and so I did! And social media response was GREAT! … but the people closest to me were still “😒” about it.

So I deleted those pictures not long after and donated the dresses I had gotten.

I never did post any dress selfies again, but every few months it would try a new dress/skirt style and be like “Is this the one for me???” very excited to maybe have found something that would get the approval of my closets folks.

That trend of “try a different dress/skirt style, show it to a few people, get told it looks ugly/doesn’t look right on me/sounds of disapproval, donate the dress” continued from 2016 until 2021 when I finally just gave up.

I still really do like dresses and skirts, I browse for them still fairly regularly, but it became a “I guess it’s just not something I should wear/am allowed to wear” trigger all over again, so I tend to wave off suggestions like “oh no, not really my style” and laugh it off.

I’ll be honest, it would be nice, but I’m not so sure. My confidence has never been super high in general, and in this case/particular situation it’s even lower than normal. 😔
