Hana is the name I decided to give to the brunette who flirted with Haizaki in s3

You despise two-faced people like him... that's what you like to tell yourself. After all, you're only honest about what you want with people, and if it can help you get a soulmate faster... Where's the crime in that? High-and-mighty people like Kise who didn't believe in soulmates were pretentious, and he was no exception. Chapter 1, Kise’s POV
»»————— ☼ —————««
Addressed to Kise Ryōta:
You will meet your soulmate in a place where there are many other people. You will have your first real encounter with them in a place where you always spend your time through the years. Be careful to keep track of where you are at all times. Your soulmate is always with company, and they are never lonely. You must be careful to not actively seek out for your fated encounter, for you’ll certainly miss them. You must remain committed and seek out things that keep you steady and motivated. Only then is it possible for your soulmate to come to you instead.
Kise would like to think he’s a romantic at heart—cheesy guy even, but on the other hand, he actively scoffs at the letter’s content… that he’s had memorized for years now. He has no choice on the matter of whether or not he’ll remember it. Not when his “letter” was just a measly paragraph. He remembered being awfully jealous and whiny of his past classmates bringing their 2-page letter to class to show off and getting the “ooh’s” and “ah’s” from everyone else. That was one sure-fire way to distinguish yourself from the crowd and make a name for yourself. Over the years, Kise’s learned that it would become a separate type of “popularity hierarchy,” whereas those with the most elaborate, mysterious, or unique soulmate letters are the ones at the top of the social ladder. Bonus points if it somehow involves all three factors.
And somehow, he also ended up at the popular side of that hierarchy too. Not like he cared, but it’s wildly convenient sometimes to get what you want from people. Still, no benefits from being popular this way could ever outweigh the massive inconveniences; he made the grievous mistake of revealing his letter contents to a casual friend in “good-natured fun.” And before he knew it, the entire school ended up knowing about it too… and then the entire neighborhood… and somehow, it went even into the ears beyond that.
Thus, it started his chronic illness of being tailed after by girls of all backgrounds. With no cure in sight for the ailment that he certainly didn’t ask for. It’s almost terrifying how a single day transformed every single girl into a parasitic bee on a search for the brightest, most colorful flower. Kise, already popular for his looks to begin with, suddenly was shoved under a more blinding spotlight of public scrutiny. If he was going to be completely honest… he liked it… at first. The newfound attention was euphoric and foreign, and he relished in it. But just like anything else, it got… boring.
Some might call it the ultimate blessing: it could make searching for a soulmate much easier and less effort on his end, they’d argue. Kise had come to beg to differ. Not when hundreds of the same faces with hundreds of clamors claimed and cried that they were his soulmate. How do fourteen girls suddenly have the “other half of the puzzle” to his own letter when there were… thirteen other girls claiming the same thing?
See, one soulmate gets a letter describing a general location of where they’d meet their soulmate. The other soulmate gets a letter describing a general timeframe of when they’d meet. Not like it actually helps narrowing down the process of pairing up people. Because he knows this shit can take years—decades, in fact—before he can even get a first glimpse of his soulmate. And the ordeal of people constantly screaming in his face that the time they’d meet their soulmate is now and hence, “it must be Kise” got old really quickly.
It’s utterly stupid. Who does this sender think they are to decide how Kise gets to live his life? What type of sadistic game were they playing by forcing the other soulmate to have the other half of the information, which would be, no doubt, just as annoyingly cryptic?
He stopped denying all the rumors of a girl claiming to be his soulmate; for every rumor he clarified and quashed during his naive youth, three more sprung up the next week. Ignoring them sounds counterintuitive, but when he allows the many rumors and girls to multiply and fester, the number of annoyances are still relatively the same: nearly infinite.
Such has become the life of Kise Ryōta.
Worst part of this whole damn thing was, he won’t be able to know when he’d meet his soulmate, not until he shares a “kiss of genuine integrity” with them… and he doesn’t even know where to begin with that requirement. Supposedly, after you kiss the right person with the right intention, something changes in the mysterious letter that would indicate he found the soulmate. Problem is, it’s different for everyone: some get a drawing of their soulmate at the end of the letter; some simply have the name of their soulmate written at the end; some get an engraved stamp; and the list goes on and on. The main takeaway from it all is that his letter should have a visible change at the end… if he could even get to that point at this rate.
“Oh my gosh…! Is that—That’s Kise-kun!!”
“Eh?! Where, where?! Let me see!”
This is ludicrous. What kind of deity up there decided to put a twisted spin on this sappy, fairy tale trope? He gives a harsh exhale before he puts up a polite smile and continues on with his day. His first day at Teiko.
“Please join our club…!” Several girls huddle around the table, eager to show the good-looking boy their information trifold-cardboard and flyers. Unsurprisingly, every single one of them had eyes of ulterior motive. At the sight, Kise resists the urge to roll his eyes at them. He stands there for a bit, watching their mouths move, but in truth, he’s not hearing a single thing out of them.
This girl looks decent… her hair is a bit weird, though.
Oh, she sure has a strange accent… and this girl has odd eyebrows.
Ugh, this one talks too much at a too-high pitch.
“Ah… well…” He puts up a chagrined smile, not knowing where to look before he smoothly waves goodbye. “I have something else to check out. Keep yourselves well, ladies!” With that, he immediately prepares his ears for shrieks of admiration and lovesickness.
Good riddance.
———
As much as he hates to admit it, he still doesn’t know what that letter exactly means to this day. Some of the sentences that consider themselves as “hints” or “instructions” are way too vague to be considered such.
He begrudgingly opens up the envelope containing the letter for the umpteenth time again. Kise sits on his desk in his own room, illuminated by the sunlight filtering through the glass pane. Floating dust particles are instantly revealed where the light hits, but he doesn’t care, his attention only on what’s important. Chin on his desk, Kise lays the envelope and letter on the flat surface, trying to see what he could be missing. By now, the paper is slightly worn out from years of Kise thumbing, flipping, inserting, folding, unfurling—you name it, in hopes of finding any hidden clues as to who’s the sender and how to solve this “riddle” that ultimately determines the rest of his life. The seal wax on the envelope is beyond recognition, cracked and no longer aesthetically pleasing to look at.
An unassuming creme-white envelope laid tactfully on top of the same desk years ago, the light from his room window shining on it like a natural spotlight. Stray dust floated around, acting like confetti to announce its unexpected, (yet important) quiet arrival. Adorned with a wax seal, the middle of it was impressed in the center of the seal with a perfect copy of his “hanko” that clearly had the kanji for his name. Which was weird… wasn’t counterfeiting hankos illegal? Being beyond skeptical even for his young age at the time of the discovery, Kise thoroughly checked every crease and fold of the paper. Yes, he even dared to open the window and looked around in case someone had the gall to play a prank on him. Opening up the envelope did nothing to calm him down as soon as he realized it was the infamous “soulmate letter.”
So God help him.
“Well…” he sighs, picking up the letter closer to his face, chin still firmly on the wood. “It wouldn’t hurt to double-check one more time, right?”
[You will meet your soulmate in a place where there are many other people.]
He frowns not even a second into the letter. Well that’s not EXACTLY helpful, is it? he ruefully thinks, recalling the constant faces surrounding him with hopeful, shining eyes. How am I going to figure out which of them is the right person? He groans in frustration before reluctantly moving on to the next part.
[You will have your first real encounter with them in a place where you always spend your time through the years. Be careful to keep track of where you are at all times.]
This also makes no damn sense. He blows a strand out of his hair in annoyance, but he stops at a realization. I guess I’ve been in the studio for a long time… It has been a couple years since he started out as a casual model, so perhaps he’s on the right track. He allows himself a small grin of triumph.
[Your soulmate is always with company, and they are never lonely. You must be careful to not actively seek out for your fated encounter, for you’ll certainly miss them.]
His grin grows wider. This is it…! It only makes sense that they’re also involved within the modeling industry. Are they a photographer, makeup artist, stylist… or even, are they also a model like him? It would only make sense if they’re never alone like he is. And maybe trying to seek them out when they also attract other people to them would make it harder to face them alone? He frowns. Or maybe it’s because they’re one of my many admirers? That one is still a bit muddy. But he remains hopeful.
[You must remain committed, and seek out things that keep you steady and motivated. Only then is it possible for your soulmate to come to you instead.]
The most cryptic part of the letter. If he’s going to try to base this off of the premise of his soulmate being near his modeling job, maybe he should pursue the pastime beyond just a hobby and turn it into a career? But other than that, all the things he’s tried out, especially sports, have gotten boring and thus, been abandoned. He bangs his forehead on the table, grin wiped off of his face realizing how he instantly got kicked back into square one.
This… this doesn’t make any sense!
———
It’s been two years at Teiko. Still no sign of this soulmate. He’s not surprised that by now, nearly the entire school somehow caught wind of the contents of his letter…. though, rumors have been getting wilder and wilder as days pass.
“Kise-kun.”
“Ee-ee-eeeee!!” The sudden voice makes him jump out of his skin before he whirls around in a panic. “Kurokocchi!! Could you stop doing that??”
Kuroko merely gives his signature blank look before he continues walking on like nothing happened.
“Y-You’re really gonna ignore me?!”
“It’s almost time for practice,” he says, turning back to face him expressing theatrical tears. “We don’t want to be late, or Akashi-kun will find out.”
At the mention of the captain’s name, Kise merely gulps before he catches up with Kuroko’s stride with no further complaints.
“But did you have to pop out of nowhere?”
Honestly, I still don’t get that part about him.
“I can’t help it,” he deadpans, as if it’s the most obvious thing in the world. “It’s not much different from your popularity.”
“When you put it like that,” he sighs, putting his arms behind his head. “I guess I can see it.” He eyes the back of Kuroko’s head—who’s been walking ahead—for several minutes before he finally musters up the courage to ask.
“Say, Kurokocchi…”
“Yes?” Kuroko continues keeping up his pace, but he slightly looks back to Kise in acknowledgment.
“Did you get your soulmate letter yet?”
At the question, Kuroko merely blinks before he replies. “I received an envelope in my locker yesterday. I thought it was strange since no one ever notices me to begin with, so I thought someone must’ve mistaken my locker for someone else’s.” Kise waits with bated breath for him to continue.
“And?”
Kuroko looks away for a second. “Yeah, it had my hanko on it. I opened it to make sure it wasn’t an error on the sender’s end. Sure enough…” he nods before finishing his reveal, “it was in fact, about my soulmate.”
“What did it say?!” Kise nearly jumps on Kuroko out of anticipation, but he barely manages to keep himself in check.
“That I’ll find my soulmate when I’m 17 to 18,” he says matter-of-factly. “So that means… I’d be a 3rd year in high school. But it also said I would already encounter them at several points in my life prior.”
Kise face-palms at his answer. “What the hell? How come yours is so straightforward?”
He only shrugs as a response, because they were already at the front steps of the gym. It looks like they got here on time. Kuroko announces the two of them before he helps pull out the ball carts. As shoe squeaks and ball dribbles echo throughout the interior, Kise stands there mulling over Kuroko’s information.
So Kurokocchi had the part of the soulmate information that only told the approximate time frame… Still, his was way too simple… or did he somehow decipher it really easily?
Kise makes a loud noise of frustration as he grabs and shakes his head, completely ignoring the concerned looks from the other first-string players.
Eurghh!! Why is mine too complicated?!
———
Kise looks at the letter in his hands again. Looking at it sort of pisses him off at this point, the wrinkled font clearly mocking and challenging him to solve it… if he could even do it to begin with. He holds the top of the paper with his two hands, his thumbs and forefingers gripping tighter. He can just rip it. He really can… who’s stopping him?
Actually, has there been anyone who ripped their letter like this before?
He intensely stares at it for a few moments, juggling his options and weighing the consequences if he did choose to shred his fate into pieces. He gives a resigned pout when he comes to the conclusion that maybe it’d be best if he didn’t test that theory out. With a huff, he roughly folds up the paper and shoves it into the envelope before tossing it haphazardly onto a low shelf.
“That’s it,” he declares out to the room. “I’m not going to bother with this soulmate shit. I’m going to live my life however I want, and no one can stop me otherwise.”
And suddenly, he feels ten times better, like a weight was lifted from his shoulders. I should’ve done this sooner, he thinks, yawning as he gets ready for a good nap in his bed. Thinking about this is way too tiring and troublesome. Why should I even care about it anymore?
———
Somehow, his admirers became bolder and bolder, realizing that they should try to push his boundaries and see how much they can get away with. It started with tentative brushes of his shirt and his arms, thinking he didn’t notice. Of course he fucking noticed, when ten other girls had the same idea. Birds of a feather flock together—something he remembers, snorting derisively in his mind yesterday. But what does he do? Put some distance between them and himself with a cheery smile and a fastbreak walk. And then today, they have the audacity to actually grab him?
You’ve got to be kidding me.
“Is it true that your soulmate letter told you that you’d meet someone so beautiful in a place no one goes to?”
“No, that’s wrong! I’ve heard that he’s looking for someone in a place where he works.”
“Should we also apply there then…?”
Kise drops his sunny disposition like a drop of a hat, and those who had their eyes and hands on him immediately flinch at the sudden change. All the loud whispers cease.
“K-Kise-kun…? Is there something wrong?”
“Is there someone bothering you?”
How do you guys have no self awareness?
“Ah, sorry…” Kise gives a placid smile that doesn’t quite reach his eyes. “You see—”
“Oh!!~ Ryōta-kun!!”
Everyone jumps at the sound of his first name used so familiarly, but Kise is more shocked than the rest of them because he doesn’t recognize the voice one bit. What the hell is going on?
A girl ruthlessly pushes through the crowd before she bounces to his side with such a saccharine smile that Kise is almost impressed by the feat. But his thoughts short-circuit when she comfortably wraps her perfectly-manicured hands around his left arm, her brunette hair swept across her shoulder and touching his sleeve. He gets a full whiff of her fragrance, and he slightly grimaces before his thoughts finally catch up to register what just happened.
What the f—
“Everyone is so touchy today!!” she declares with a slight pout, ringing her voice loudly for everyone nearby to hear on purpose. “Don’t you guys know Ryōta-kun is my soulmate?”
“O-Oi—who said—” Kise immediately tries to jump in, but the girl is quicker to cut him off.
“He’s mine! Sorry girlies!” she says with a playful innocence before narrowing her eyes maliciously at the crowd. “... So you’ll have to leave, ‘mkay?” No sooner she speaks those words, the group disperses, and for the first time, Kise’s relatively alone in broad daylight in the middle of a public space. Though, he now has a bigger issue at hand. This girl.
There’s no doubt the entire school would talk about this the next day and weeks to come… probably months too. He drops his nice facade completely with her. “I don’t know what you’re trying to do, but stop it. The shit you’re doing right now isn’t cute in the slightest.”
“Oh! Ryōta-kun… don’t you know how attractive you are when you look at me like that?” She leans forward with a sneer of her own. “But you should be thanking me, no? I got rid of the pests for you, didn’t I?”
“I didn’t need your help,” he scoffs, beginning to turn away to walk. “If anything, you sound more desperate than I am.” There’s only one reason why she’s here.
He fumes to himself. She’s annoying, trying to use me for my status as a model to boost her own reputation in a hopeful “scandal.” Fucking hell. I’ll have to ask my manager about this later for rumor control… He clicks his tongue, making it loud enough for her to hear.
At least he knows 100% that she isn’t his soulmate. That’s one girl down out of infinity.
He walks with such controlled anger brewing within him that he almost didn’t notice another girl walking past him. Almost.
“Hana-chan!” a voice called out. He presumes that the brunette is who the voice is looking for. “Why’d you ditch me like that? You left me with these boys all alone! You know how starved they are—They totally looked at me like a piece of meat!”
“Aish, (y/n)-chan!” He hears her annoying voice echoing behind him. He walks faster. “Don’t you know you have that charm? Can you blame them?~ I wouldn’t, hehe.”
“Mou—! Hana-chan!” You speed to Hana, completely ignoring Kise as you storm past him. “You’re mean!”
He takes a quick side glance at you before his scowl turns harsher.
Who the hell in their right mind is friends with that bitch??
“Sorry, sorry!~”
But Kise can obviously tell she isn’t sorry in the least. He’s even more pissed off when he hears you pleasantly laugh with her, completely accepting her half-assed apology.
Chapter 2, Kise’s POV
———
“Huh? What’d you say Ryōta?”
“I said I want to play for the starting position.” Kise’s voice takes on an arrogant tone, dropping all polite facade—a rare occurrence, especially around so many people. The other first-string players watch the interaction anxiously, tension building in the gym.
This guy isn’t taking me seriously at all, is he?
Haizaki merely gives him a condescending look when he turns to face Kise. “You just joined the team. Hah—don’t be stupid.” He cocks a brow to taunt him further. “Besides, you can’t even beat me at practice. What do you think you’re doing, eh?”
I know what I’m doing, and you damn know it.
Kise merely gives a cocky look of his own. “I may not stand a chance against the other four, but I think I’m ready to take you.” More than ready. The mentioned Generation of Miracles stand aside to watch Haizaki’s response, not making any particular move to interfere.
“Heh, you must not think much of me.” Haizaki puts his hands casually on his hips. “It’s obvious I just don’t take practice seriously.” He licks his thumb as another taunt. “Fine. I’ll give you a taste of what I can really do.”
Honestly… what type of sick guy even does that? I can’t stand him.
. . .
A dunk there.
Another dunk.
Steal.
Backtip.
“Uh-oh. Kise-chin’s getting destroyed,” a lazy voice rings over the shoe squeaks and echoing ball bounces in the one-on-one match.
Damn it, you didn’t have to say that out loud, Murasakibaracchi… Damn it.
“More! I’m not done yet…!” Kise breathes hard, wiping sweat off his chin with the back of his arm and takes on a defensive stance.
“It’ll end the same way every time.”
“W-Wha—!”
“You and I…” Haizaki deals the finishing blow with a brutal dunk. “... are cut from different cloth.”
Ah… shit. Damn it, I thought I had it this time… I thought… damn…
“Shōgo-kun!” a feminine voice calls out from the doorway. A brunette girl pops her head to peep in. Hana. “Are you done with practice?”
Ugh… not her. Kise inwardly blanches at hearing her nauseating voice filling up the room and remembering the stunt she pulled the other day. Of all people to see me like this too…
“Yeah, sorry. I just finished,” Haizaki calls out, voice turning casual. He walks to her with an outstretched arm, eager for a touch before she recoils in disgust.
“Eurgh—!” she shrieks. “You’re still drenched in sweat!”
“Pft, I’ll take a quick shower.” He leans forward to her face, hands on his hips. “Do you wanna come with me?”
“Oh, come on!” she chastises him with that sickenly sweet voice, knowing fully well of his implications.
Kise huffs a small breath of annoyance, though it doesn’t do enough to convey his irritation for her. What a fake. People like her are so unbearable—the worst.
Aomine sighs, watching from a distance away. “That bastard…”
“Hey,” another player calls out. “Isn’t that… That’s Kise’s new girlfriend. Are they soulmates?”
Bullshit! She’s not—
“Ryōta-kun?”
Don’t use my first name like we’re familiar—
“Yeah.” Haizaki turns back to stare down at Kise, still on the ground with his hands and knees. “This guy just challenged me and lost.”
“Seriously? Talk about lame~”
“Anyways, that’s that.” Haizaki prepares to leave with the brunette. “Later, Ryōta-kun.” He adds an emphasis on the honorific to further humiliate him as he turns around.
Kise begins to tremble, fists tightening. All of you piss me off. He grits his teeth, willing himself to get up from his total loss and stand on his feet again. His hands are hanging loosely at his sides—stance relaxed, but no one around him can tell what he’s actually feeling from the way he hides his face under his bangs. But he can’t blame Haizaki… that’s the most infuriating part. He’s right… I challenged him and didn’t stand a chance—That can only mean I have to get stronger.
“Hey, wait!” Another voice cuts through his thoughts when more running footsteps echo down the gym hallway. Kise looks up with a disinterested expression at the source of the noise. “There you are! I’ve been looking for you! Aren’t we going to the arcade together?”
Haizaki merely smirks at you, giving you a once-over before flicking his hand towards himself to beckon you over. “The more the merrier, eh?”
“Oh, Shōgo-kun! You’re so sly!”
“Ehhhhh?” You dramatically gasp, turning to Haizaki. “But you agreed on going on a date with me today, didn’t you?” Haizaki stops with a raised brow to try to recall before his grin grows wider at you.
“My bad. So I did,” he hums. “Then,” he turns to the brunette, “After the shower, I’ll be with (y/n), yeah? You’re more than free to join, though.”
“Whaaaat?” You tilt your head at him. “We agreed to go alone together, geez…”
Kise merely tunes you out from that point on, no longer interested in you and whatever shit you were going to spew out. Anyone involved with Haizaki like that isn’t good to begin with. He slowly walks to use the exit on the opposite side of the gym to avoid the group for good measure.
She’s just like the rest of them. He yawns.
———
Another day, another practice. Even after Teiko destroyed Meiko in the national finals, there is no excitement buzzing among the basketball players from such an accomplishment, when such wins are simply obligatory and frequent.
“Midorimacchi? Where’s everyone else?” Kise enters the gym nonchalantly but stops to do a double take to see half the room empty. It’s supposed to be another regular day of practice isn’t it?
Midorima pauses, his hands on a plastic bottle before he narrows his eyes. “Those fools chose to ditch.”
Fools? Kise widens his eyes. “You can’t mean…”
“I don’t understand their way of thinking,” he continued, putting down the bottle before picking up the ball. “Those who don’t do everything humanly possible within their limits—I can’t be friends with such people. Luckily, my soulmate will not be the same.”
Soulmate?
“Aominecchi and Murasakibaracchi? And hey, where’s Akashicchi?”
“Quiet,” he says, going into a shooting position with the ball in his left hand. “You’re ruining my focus, nanodayo.” He shoots a half-court shot. All net, as always… nothing less from Teiko’s shooting guard.
“I’m serious,” he slightly sulks, eyeing the ball bouncing out of the court before looking back at him. “I don’t know what’s going on here.” Midorima, sensing the serious tone, turns back as he adjusts his glasses.
“Kuroko quit yesterday. Akashi is most likely gone regarding that. Though, I doubt losing Kuroko would make a huge impact to the starter lineup. Despite that, I believe Akashi wanted to be thorough and make sure there’s a temporary sixth man installed in the meantime.”
Kurokocchi quit? Well, it’s not a big deal. It’s almost the end of our 3rd year here anyways… before we graduate.
Kise further raises a confused brow. “And what’s with the soulmate comment? Did you already…?”
“Obviously not.” Midorima frowns at his insinuation. “It is far too soon for me to get one.”
“Then why do you sound so confident?!”
“Because I know,” he replies, closing his eyes briefly before looking down at the ball cart next to him. “… and trust that they’ll give me someone capable. Naturally, if I were to do everything possible on my end, that would only mean I would be granted someone of the same caliber in the future, nanodayo. There is no room for error or doubt.”
“Uh…” Kise merely gives a judgmental stare. “So I’m assuming you have a soulmate letter, and it told you this?” Midorima stops himself from shooting to stare at him incredulously, as if Kise was the most idiotic thing he’d ever laid eyes on.
“Of course not. I’m not opening that letter until the oha asa predicts the luckiest year for cancers yet.”
“I… wow.” That’s Midorimacchi for you, always the weirdo. Can’t believe he really thinks like that.
“You have no place to speak when you also are nowhere near to finding your soulmate, idiot.” He shoots the ball again. He grabs another one without looking at Kise, who’s currently no doubt giving him the look of a kicked puppy.
“I don’t believe in soulmates,” he grumbles. “Not anymore, anyways. It’s too annoying to think about.”
Midorima widens his eyes to stare at Kise, registering the foreign words coming from his mouth.
Midorimacchi, don’t look at me like that… can you blame me? It’s not that weird for a lot of people to think that, too.
Midorima merely sighs. “Say all you want, but you can’t deny the fates, nanodayo.” He goes back to ignoring Kise again, this time for good. I guess he finds that really strange on his end.
“Well…” Kise gives a heavy sigh of his own. “I guess I can get some drills in.”
———
Kaijo’s nice enough. Nothing’s really changed since becoming a 1st year here for a couple months. The campus might be twice the size of Teiko’s, and the basketball team isn’t that bad. Kasamatsu might be scary, though, but he has no real complaints about him. Well… he reconsiders the thought, feeling his lower back throbbing. Actually… he COULD try to lessen up on his kicks… But I guess he means well. He’s a bit too serious, though.
He still has plenty of complaints about girls following him around, but by now, he’s used to it. Call it a staple of Kise Ryōta, of some sorts. Kise of Kaijo… he thinks, remembering Kasamatsu’s lecture on his first day of scouting. It really does have a nice ring to it after all.
He smiles, recalling the new bonds he’s forged with his teammates these past matches. The Winter Cup is coming soon, so everyone’s buzzing with excitement and anticipation to take home 1st place this year. Kurokocchi might be right about doing what’s good for the team. I need to get stronger for our rematch. His simper only grows bigger.
Thinking about basketball and not worrying about the unnecessary things at hand is so liberating that he pretty much forgets the ordeal. (Like the business of soulmates, but he’s not thinking about that! That’s not even remotely in his consciousness, not one bit.)
Unfortunately for him, his smile is wiped from his face the moment he enters the gym.
“Heyah, heyah, heyah!” He furrows his brows in slight confusion at the voice, most definitely not belonging to any of his teammates. That sounds… familiar.
Your voice reverberates throughout the gym, but it seems like you have no regard for an indoor voice as your eyes sparkle (how creepy) at his teammates. And your own smile widens as seconds pass (definitely creepy). Kise’s frown becomes harsher when he finally recognizes you.
I don’t remember what she looks like… but that damn voice… wait a second—
Kasamatsu sighs at you, but he tries to keep a polite tone with you. Even so, anyone can sense how exasperated he is. “Sorry, look,” he says cordially, eyeing Kise at the door before turning his gaze back at you. “If you’re looking for Kise, he’s not here right now, and if you are going to wait for him, he’ll be occupied with practice from soon until hours later.”
You do that same head tilt you did back at Teiko. “But I’m not here for him.”
His teammates merely sweatdrop at your answer. Right, like anyone believes that. Kise takes a quiet step in to put his duffel bag on an empty spot, no longer even bothering to give you his attention anymore.
“Yeah, sorry.” Kobori steps in with an apologetic smile of his own. “If you want to leave any gifts, you can leave it with the coach.”
“No, no!” You widen your eyes theatrically, waving your hands around in front of your chest to emphasize your statement. “You misunderstand me, seriously!”
Kasamatsu, having enough of you, shoots an exhale before turning to yell to the other players, “Everyone! Start warming up! And don’t slack off, or I’ll kick your ass!”
“I’m not here for Kise,” your voice rings out loud and clear. “I’m here for Kasamatsu-senpai.” Everyone freezes at the mention of the captain’s name. What business did a 1st year have with a 3rd year? They spare a look in the captain’s direction, but even he’s caught off guard. Kise looks up at you from behind, a few meters away.
Does she even know that I’m actually here, or…?
“Because,” you say, a little too brightly. “I think you’re my soulmate, Kasamatsu-senpai!”
Said captain immediately chokes on air.
Every single person in the gym has their jaws dropped.
A few seconds of silence take over the gym.
“WHAT??????!!!!”

How Their Crush Flusters Them
PLSSS I NEED SOME HEADCANONS FOR AKASHI, AOMINE, AND MOMOI ON HOW THEIR CRUSH FLUSTERS THEM;;; like she could be eating like a chipmunk and smile, and their just whipped😭😭 separate headcanons pls <3
MI, MY BESTIE, MY EMOJI DICTIONARY… I’VE COME BACK FROM THE DEAD TO DELIVER YOU MY HEADCANON CRUMBS… PLEASE ACCEPT THEM 👩‍🦯
[Headcanons]
Akashi Seijuro
I’m always gonna start nearly every Akashi headcanon with how this is not applicable to boku-Akashi 😭 anyways,,,, moving on…
ore-Akashi is equally hard to fluster though, let’s get that out of the way, but the soft side of him he has now would make him more inclined to feel that it’s okay to be flustered with you—a.k.a. let down his guard more around you
one way to fluster him is by using the element of surprise on your side
if you’re intentionally trying make him flustered, he easily sees through it, so usually, your schemes of making him lose his cool will not work because your facial expressions and giddy body movements make you way too obvious (even if you were careful to be subtle, he already knows)
he’d be amused and give you those knowing teasing smiles (that may or may not end up flustering you instead, let’s be honest… who can stay calm after seeing a smile from THE Akashi?)
it’s the unintentional things you do, any endearing quirks or habits you may have, that short-circuits him sometimes, because those are something he can’t expect and predict all the time
exhibit A:
“Akashi, congratulations on winning! I know you probably win all the time, and you don’t think of it as anything, but…” you would avert your own gaze and look at him again… maybe do a nervous action (twiddling your thumb? rubbing your neck? rubbing your arm? twirling a strand and playing with your hair? fiddling with your clothes?) before finishing your thought. “But I think it’s something worth celebrating!”
it’s the fact that you have no idea the things you’re doing is affecting his heart that gets him outwardly flustered; the idea that he’s the only one between the two of you who knows these details about you gets him a bit flushed
he lives to have that exclusive knowledge about you
exhibit B:
you smile at him whenever he comes to you, or if you weren’t one to smile much, your aura would immediately lighten up upon seeing him and such
it really gets his gears moving because that just shows that someone out there actually sees him as a good person, who doesn’t look at him with fear or awe… but to be fair, he wouldn’t blame you if you did, considering his entire period of time when he was exhibiting his “boku” side
so when you smiled at him with no reservations the first time, he REALLY got flustered in a sense where his eyes widened, his lips parted, and his eyes drank in the sight of your face for a second before he regained his usual composure… still, he can’t exactly control the color of his slight flush on his face
but even though you’ve smiled at him without fail every single time, part of him is still surprised and caught a bit off guard that you’re that happy to have him around
result? he actually becomes someone who gets flustered quite often with you in the beginnings of the crush phase (unfortunately though, unless you have your own set of Emperor Eyes, you wouldn’t be able to notice)
when he’s having his “mini-flusters,” a usual tell-tale sign is that he’d stay still from where he is and stare at you silently before you even notice
so if you’re just chatting away and notice silence on your end, you probably don’t even have to look at him to have a general idea that he’s having a frazzled moment of his own… don’t try to look at his face though, because then he’ll catch on what you’re trying to do and continue on the conversation like nothing happened
he’ll know pretty quickly that you also have a crush on him, and when he realizes that moment, he nearly damn short-circuits into the next zone dimension to the point where you even had to wave a hand aggressively in front of his face
“Akashiiiiiiii… helloooooooo? Earth to the emperor?”
“Ah,” he would blink back into reality. “My apologies, I didn’t mean to space out.”
“What were you thinking about anyways?”
and he would give that smile before he would say, “Nothing much.”
when you do things for him out of the goodness of your own heart (and not expecting anything back), that also throws him off a little
when you dote on him even as friends, he feels like he’s truly loved and cared for (this poor guy really got neglected in his childhood, could you blame him?)
and usually, he’s the one who needs to take care of everyone else, always being in a position of leadership
“Sheesh, you needa take care of yourself too!”
“Pardon?”
“You’re always doing way too much to make sure everything runs smoothly, and everyone isn’t having any issues, but have you ever thought to take care of your own needs?”
“Of course, adequate nutrition and rest are essential in playing optimal games.”
“No, no!” you insist. “Your mental needs! Your emotional needs—like, I can’t put it into words… erm… someone’s also gotta look out for you too, in case you’re struggling and need help sometimes… uh, maybe I can be that person for you? If you want that is—I don’t mean to intrude…”
that is when he knew… you were the one for him
he merely looks at you like you’re the brightest thing in the room before he softly agrees, “Yes… I suppose you’re right.”
if you also managed to figure out he has a crush on you (you must have some SERIOUS instincts and keen eyes to figure that out… or have Kuroko tell you something to know) and confessed to him out of the blue before he did
you’re going to see him visibly stiffen up and have that widened eyes and parted lips on his face while watching your every move… were you joking? did he misinterpret your words when you actually meant something as close friends?
bonus: if you happen to be the cheeky, sly person, smile wider at him after you confessed to shut the poor man’s brain down into oblivion
AKASHI.EXE is starting to reboot
he’ll take a few seconds longer to break out of his stupor, but when he does, he’ll simply straighten himself before replying, “I’m glad you like me, (l/n)-san. It’s relieving to hear that you also reciprocate these feelings for me, to say the least.”
YOU.EXE shut down when he gently takes your hand into his
but after you guys get together, he won’t be as flustered as often, because 1.) he’s confident about how you and he feel about each other now and 2.) he’d come to know you so well that he would probably expect 90% of the things you throw at him
Momoi Satsuki
compliment her
no, really
Momoi’s hard work was never appreciated enough even back in Teiko
but she never really minded/cared(?) because her mindset has always been about doing something for the sake of the team and doing what she’s good at to help out
she’s been sorting out her feelings with Kuroko, finally realizing that she wasn’t truly in love with him, but more so in love with the idea of someone who saw her more than just for her body—in love with the idea of someone with unconventional priorities and mannerisms rather than the predictable, surface-level things she’s seen in most people
but with you? something else tickled differently in her heart when you’re near
she thought she knew what love was, but it turns out, you gave her a whole new mystery to solve all over again—what was this funny feeling she always gets with you? is it “real” this time? what if you were just another Kuroko—a good friend with a perspective on life that differed a bit from hers?
but when you told her one day how much you admire and appreciate the amount of work she puts into basketball and the irreplaceable skillset she had that was essential to Touou’s victories
she flushed the brightest cherry red
“Oh… that’s…” she would easily stammer in your presence, not knowing how to take your praise gracefully. “Eh? Well—that’s—”
she would recollect herself before she would jump and tackle you for a hug in true Momoi-fashion before squealing out your name:
“(y/nnnnnnnnnn)!”
“M-Momoi—I can’t… breathe…”
honestly, she probably wouldn’t be calm if she heard it from any other person to begin with
but with you??? she’s malfunctioning—not even Aomine’s rude comments snaps her out of her daze for the rest of the day
“Oi, Satsuki, get outta my sight if you’re just gonna be in the way. Sheesh…”
“(y/n)… (y/n)…” she would sound like a broken record for a bit, holding her flushed cheeks with two hands even after Aomine gives her a tired glare out of the corner of his eyes. “(y/n) complim—… complimented me?! Ehhhhhh???”
“Shut up already—”
*unfortunately, her pink lovey-dovey aura around her only intensifies*
compliment any part of her body that no one usually does: her eyes and her hair especially
“Um… (y/n)-chan?! You’re… staring. What is it?”
“Ah, sorry,” you chuckle out a sigh with a chagrined smile. “I just find your eyes really pretty. Your lashes especially frame them so well, too. I guess I never noticed until now?”
“??!?!?!?!?!??!?!” She’s staring at you with the widest eyes (that you just complimented, by the way!) before she hesitates
“O-Oh!… Do you… really think so…?”
“Of course! Why would I say it otherwise?”
Momoi has ascended into heaven
“Momoi, how long have you had your hair like this?”
“Huh?” she stops whatever she was doing to look at you before continuing, “I’ve had long hair for as long as I remember.”
she hesitates before asking a daring question: “Does it look bad…?”
“I love your hair,” you reply candidly. “You pull this type of hair the best out of everyone I’ve met, in my opinion.”
at your words, she would unconsciously tuck some stray strands behind her hair as she (predictably) turns as pink as her hair, making the effort to looking down at her shoes or her clipboard if she had it with her
(you’re a little smug at how easily you can make her flustered… it’s a personal hobby of yours)
bonus points if you’re close to her already and you’re carding your fingers through her hair strands so casually, as if it’s second nature to you
“JFUERIG///2/½,3OR34T!!!?!?1/1” is what her mind is thinking right now
play with her hair and do loose braids with it too, and you’ll be amused to find her as stiff as a backboard, completely silent for the first time in forever
the entire GoM group and the Touou team are completely stunned when they see this shy, demure (and very quiet) side of Momoi with you for the first time
when you do anything that’s anything romantic/cheesy/tropey to her or for her sake, she’s going to paradise for a week straight, replaying everything in her mind constantly
like holding her shoulder to guide her away from people in the crowd… buying her something to eat/drink when you also go to the convenience store/vending machine to get something for yourself… buy her a hair clip or two, maybe earrings… invite her to go to places that could potentially be considered date locations (Momoi would eat this up to no end and potentially overthink and overheat)…
say a pickup line on her (genuine or to tease her, it’s up to you), and she’ll faint on the spot (refer to her fainting on Kise after meeting the adorable Nigou for the first time)
bonus: Kuroko plays wingman to get you two together… Aomine might reluctantly help after a while seeing you two “hanging out way too much”
Aomine Daiki
Aomine and Momoi are two peas in a pod, whether he’d like to admit it or not
and that would include having one similar way of being flustered
compliment his basketball skills in any way or form but sound super earnest about it
he normally wouldn’t care about the admiration and praises… because he’s always been in the spotlight as the ace of Teiko and ace of Touou
but you’re his crush, and he’s still a regular teen who wants to be noticed (!!)
he wouldn’t be obvious in being flustered, but it’ll definitely catch him off guard
“Tch, it’s nothing… really,” he would sigh while averting his gaze
wanna take flustering him a step further? start learning basketball because you want to also come to love the sport like he does (but don’t tell him this! have him accidentally discover you trying to learn how to shoot before you explain why you got inspired to start)
already know how to play basketball? even better—when he sees you adopting a playing style like his while he passed by a court one day, his jaw drops and his face feels an unfamiliar flush on his cheeks
“Huh? Ain’t that…” he stops in his tracks to squint a bit at your familiar figure. “(y/n)? What’re they doing here?”
he stares at you unabashedly before you notice an intense gaze and turn towards him, holding the ball under one arm
“Aomine-kun!” you would always call out to him, waving your arm enthusiastically to get him to come by
when he lazily walks by and asks what you were even doing, you look at him like he was the dumbest person in the world
“Um… basketball? What else would I be doing?”
you further explained yourself why you were on the courts today, and all the while, Aomine would bring a hand to his neck, turning his neck and face to the side
how could he look at you when he could feel his face getting so warm and his neck sweaty?
you were grinning at his uncharacteristically boyish side, no question about that
he would probably demand in a roundabout way to teach you because “it hurts my eyes to see you suck this much,” but we all know his eyes are getting a real treat outta seeing you playing the sport he loves to death
the third type of fluster he has is the MORTIFIED type, a rare one that would probably never happen under normal circumstances
emphasis on normal, btw
but him having a crush on anyone isn’t normal to begin with, so to be honest, anything’s fair game…
imagine that he’s coming to the gym for practice, yet once again, peeved that one of the Touou members had something to do with his missing “dirty magazines”
until he notices you. holding one of his magazines. in your hands. TURNING EVERY PAGE TO CURIOUSLY LOOK…
he has never run faster in his entire life to snatch that flimsy booklet out of your hands
his speed right then and there really puts his agility on the courts in official matches to shame (Wakamatsu is probably pissing his pants trying not to laugh as we speak)
does he care if any other normal person saw his collection? No
in fact, he even shamelessly flaunts that fact
but with you… he wants to look good in front of you, make that good “first impression” so to speak, but his hopes are as good as dashed as soon as he sees you staring at “Horikita Mai-chan’s”—
“Wha—What the hell are you doing?!!” he yells quite unceremoniously at no one in particular, snatching the magazine and hiding it behind his back. “And you!!” he turns to you, clearly not his usual collected self. “Why the hell are you here?!”
“Oh,” you merely blink. “I was just here because your teammates told me you’d be more willing to practice if I was here, so I came. That was yours?”
Aomine has no chance to either deny or confirm, because Imayoshi—right on cue—hauls out a portable basketball locker (y’know, those metal baskets with wheels) FILLED with what Aomine recognizes as his entire collection
and Imayoshi casually hands you another volume like he’s giving you his homework—
Imayoshi may probably need to sleep with his eyes actually open from then on if he ever had the balls to try this on the ace of Touou, but if you reassure Aomine… maybe the captain can survive—maybe
who’s gonna tell Aomine that Wakamatsu and Momoi also played a huge part in getting their hands on his entire collection?
if it was just one magazine, Aomine can recover rather quickly, but if Imayoshi pulled up the latter situation, I don’t think he would ever have the courage to face you alone again unless you somehow reassure him that his… interesting collection didn’t deter you from seeing him in a “lesser light” at all
“Aomine, I don’t think your porn collection is something to be ashamed of, although… I’m a bit concerned how easily your teammates got a hold on them. You oughtta learn how to store them properly.”
he’s comically gaping at you, his face terribly red and he has NO IDEA how to begin
yeah, he had imagined dozens of ways that he can talk to you privately and be cool and suave
NONE OF THEM were close to the actual scenario currently at hand
he’d probably try to pass off like the entire incident wasn’t a big deal, scoffing and clicking his tongue while turning his face away, hands in his pockets
but you knew better, and it was obvious that this man before you had his tongue twisted, becoming putty in your presence
if you laugh/chuckle with that sparkle in your eyes at him right there and then, he’s also going to malfunction and potentially never recover
how can you be this cute??
not like he’d admit that out loud

I HEAR YA LOUD AND CLEAR, A VERY CUTE REQUEST, i gotchu fam <3
@knb-kreations
Midorima x shy!Reader
[Headcanons]
as a reserved individual himself, Midorima is not one to broadcast his relationship out to everyone, and this sentiment is only stronger when he knows that you’re even more introverted than himself
even so, after dating for a substantial amount of time, he wants to include you into his life and potential dream career in basketball… and that would entail bringing you to meet his inner circle of his friends teammates
the only problem (and the reason why he’s held off in introducing you to them for so long) is that his teammates can be quite rowdy (and have some… unique quirks? but Midorima isn’t really one to talk)… especially that Takao Kazunari
still, he never felt like he had to introduce you to them right away… when the right opportunity will present himself, he’ll do it
besides, you don’t seem in any rush to meet them anytime soon from the way you’d rather prefer spending your time with Midorima alone
well, until one day, the Oha Asa predictions presented that opportunity:
“Today, Cancers are in a unique situation from the rest! It seems like their luck can be quite stagnant or off the charts depending if they have their lucky item for today! Ready to hear it, everyone?! Today’s lucky item for Cancers isn’t a standard one! It may differ for every Cancer, and that’s the beauty of fate!~ Cancers should bring along with them something that they cherish the most! But be careful…! Cancers should also take care in making sure nothing happens to their lucky item today!”
Midorima, in hearing the prediction from his TV, flinches out of surprise, mostly because the first thing that came to his mind after hearing “most cherished” was you
but alas, he’s going to follow fate down to a T, with no exceptions
when he approaches you early morning, he tells you with the straightest face:
“(y/n)-san, according to the Oha Asa, you’re my lucky item today.”
“U-U-Uh… um, is… is that a pick-up line?”
“Hmph! As if I would stoop myself down to Takao’s level. The Oha Asa predicted it so, and I will not take any chances today.”
“Um… what do I have to do then?”
Midorima softens his gaze at you and mumbles, “Nothing really. Just stay by my side for the entirety of today.”
thankfully, today was a Saturday, so at least school wouldn’t be an obstacle between the two of you being separated
so here you are, tagging along with Midorima to do some mundane trips around the neighborhood
Midorima please… this is literally just a date but he refuses to acknowledge it as such
he still had basketball practice that evening though, so by then, it was time for him to go to the gym to start warmups
… but wait, that would mean he’d have to bring you there too…
“Ahem… you…” Midorima clears his throat. “Do you mind just sitting on the benches inside? There’s no need for you to make conversation if you do not wish to do so.”
“O-Of course!” you exclaim. “I… I wanna see you play too… even if it’s just practice, I-I hope your teammates won’t mind?”
“Well I’ll make sure they’ll mind their own business.”
“Would I really bring good luck to you by just sitting and watching you, Shintarou…? It’s hard to believe that the Oha Asa said that I’m… supposedly lucky?”
“The Oha Asa is never wrong,” he says confidently. “Besides, I don’t see it anything but an advantage when I know you’ll be here to provide support in your own way. After all, you do make the most out of your capabilities and do your best, nanodayo…”
Midorima makes sure to enter the gym first, with you tailing behind and taking shelter behind his broad back
even despite that, nothing could prepare you for the chaos inside
a basketball FLEW to you and nearly killed you if it wasn’t for the fact that Midorima easily stopped the ball in its projection
“Fools! Are you ever careful in shooting?!”
“Ah shut it! Not everyone’s like you, Midorima!”
“If you have that much energy complaining, then you have the energy to start warming up, rookie.”
Midorima sighs in response to their comments, but you’re behind him peeking out a bit and then ducking behind his back again when you saw how intimidating they were
“Wh-Whoa!! Shin-chan brought someone over?!”
“What?”
“Where?!”
“The brat brought someone over?!”
Takao immediately skips over to him and you, curiously peeking to see who Midorima, the ever-so serious and hardworking dude, brought to practice; it’s very rare that he’d bring his own Teiko ex-teammates along, let alone anyone unrelated to basketball
“Oh! Aren’t you (y/n)-chan?” Takao asks, tilting his head with a childish wonder
“O-Oh, um…” you reply, darting your eyes to Midorima before continuing. “It’s nice to meet you… I’ve heard a lot about you from Shintarou, Takao-kun.”
Midorima turns red and denies it to his breath as he hounds on Takao as an outlet for his embarrassment
Miyaji and Ōtsubo are peeved but lowkey curious about why Midorima brought you here, so they ask… to which Midorima replies:
“(y/n)-san is my lucky item for today, nanodayo.”
“Captain, can I throw my family’s pineapples at him??”
“Shin-chan, I’d normally laugh, but did you just label a person as an object?” (to which Midorima immediately interjects, “A-Absolutely not!!”)
“Alright, you little shit, you 1st-years are really getting on my nerves right now…”
“W-W-Wait…!” you exclaim, slightly stepping out from behind Midorima’s back. “Please don’t be mad at him… I wanted to watch too…” but when everyone’s attention immediately shoots to you, you squeak and hide behind his back again
from the way you clutch onto Midorima’s shirt from behind, Midorima immediately turns around to you with a soft tone of voice
“Hey, come on now… they’re not bad people, nanodayo. You know I’ll be there by your side if anything happens, (y/n)...”
everyone’s REALLY quiet hearing how Midorima talks to you, and they’re like WTF???? WHERE DID THIS SIDE EVEN COME FROM….?
only when Takao blows a slow whistle to break the silence does everyone break into quiet snickers, ready to make fun of Midorima to death about it
as Midorima gives you a short pat on the head and turns to walk to put down his duffel, all of his teammates follow him to give him those “playful” hits and slaps on the back and arms LMAOO some may have actually knocked his spine out of his body though ngl
you’re just standing there timidly, not knowing what to exactly do next, and Miyaji notices you and approaches you
“Oy,” he says with his usual rough tone of voice. “If you really wanna watch, you can sit over there. Don’t be in the way though.” He points to the specific bench, but softens his usual Spartan-like, harsh frown just a tad bit when he sees you cowering a bit
“Sorry… uh, (l/n)-san, right? Take care of the idiot for us.”
“What do you think you’re doing?” Midorima immediately stalks over to the two of you, knowing full well how… scary Miyaji can be, and Miyaji’s frown comes back
“Huh? Nothing for you to be concerned about, rookie.” Miyaji KICKS Midorima to the court to start doing shooting drills and then turns to you like nothing happened
“W-Wait, Shintarou…?”
“He’ll be fine,” he sighs, ruffling his hair. “If he does anything stupid, let one of us know, alright?”
“He’s been, um, good to me.”
and Miyaji gives a little smile for the first time as a stamp of approval, and then he goes back to practice while you lightly skip to the bench… that smile MAY have convinced you that Midorima’s team wasn’t so scary after all
“Sooooo....” Takao says, jabbing Midorima’s ribs. “Your lucky item, eh?”
irk marks appear on Midorima’s head as he prepares to strangle Takao, only to remember you were watching him
“Ahem… (y/n) is my lucky item, regardless of what day or prediction.”
“Eurghh, that’s so sappy, what the fuck—”
“Shut up if you know what’s good for you, Takao.”
the entire team = your personal bodyguards for REAL, and it’s almost scary how every single teammate uses their own “softer” side when talking to you directly like… Midorima is now kinda regretting that he introduced you to them so late? he didn’t know that his teammates would be THAT considerate to you
especially Takao… he’d say a bunch of jokes to get you to laugh but he’d know EXACTLY when to back off and let you chill out??
the upperclassmen would be very polite and soft spoken with you?? like they all have their own respective younger siblings, so they’d definitely treat you like one
Kimura always offers you to taste-test his family’s produce for free, free of charge, zilch, nada
Midorima wonders if they like you better than him (spoiler alert: of course they do)
to get under Midorima’s nerves while you aren’t around, they’d always go, “Bro, where’s your lucky item???” in referring to you LMAOOO (Takao is ESPECIALLY guilty of this)

»»————— ☼ ————««
He holds you so gently, the touch so feather-light as he cradles your head and dips his own head in for a soft peck. The warmth of his lips makes you feel things you shouldn’t feel, things that you still chased for more in a never-ending cycle. You hold onto his hands thumbing your temples to try to anchor yourself further into the bliss, but it ends all too soon when he separates from you and gives you a radiant smile.
You were rudely pulled out of your rose-tinted trance when you heard gasps and chatter amongst the gawking students nearby, particularly Kise’s fans. He doesn’t pay any mind to their reactions and turns his friendly demeanor towards them.
“So you see everyone,” he cheerfully says. “I’m sorry I can’t accept any of your affections, as much as it flatters me so… after all, I have my dear (y/n)-cchi by my side!”
Groans and cries rung throughout the campus as most wail about missing out the opportunity to be Kise’s romantic partner, but before you can listen to their laments, Kise hurriedly tugs you away to the privacy of the back of a building nearby, away from prying eyes and ears. He drops your wrist just as fast and yawns with a stretch.
“What time should we meet up tomorrow?” he casually says, taking out his phone from his pocket.
“Huh?”
“Well, we can’t exactly sell our image of us being a couple unless we walk to and from school together consistently, right (y/n)?”
The rose-tinted lenses on your self-indulgent fantasy shatters to the ground instantly. You gulp, the swallowed spit hitting down to your stomach in heavy dread, where it was previously occupied by fluttering butterflies just moments prior.
This isn’t real.
“Ah… um,” you hesitated, thinking of a reasonable time, so you can wake up and get ready accordingly. “How about this time…”
“Yeah, that sounds good,” he replies, shutting off his phone before he walks a few steps away from you but then stopping. “Huh, uh… should I walk you home first? There might be some nosy people around, and we might as well get some practice in as an official couple.”
“W-Why don’t we start tomorrow morning instead?” you suggest. “A lot’s happened today, and well, I wanna have some time to myself.” Kise impassively stares at you for a couple of seconds before he forms a grin.
“Ah ha, well then, (y/n)-cchi,” he shouts jovially, making sure that his voice rang throughout the area for anyone nearby to hear. “I’ll be waiting for you tomorrow morning, my love!”
“Y-Yeah…” you mumbled, your hand held up in a half-hearted wave. “See you…”
With that parting, you turned to the opposite direction to exit through the side gates to get to your home. Your mind scrambles to recall the impulsive decisions you decided to take on a whim today. The grip on your bag tightens as you finally realized what sort of situation you got yourself into.
You like Kise, plain and simple. You’ve always gazed longingly at him whenever his presence entered within your line of vision. You couldn’t even fault his fans for being so whipped for the basketball player in the first place, not when you felt like you were more enthralled by him than anyone else. So what does a love-stricken fool like you do when the source of attraction directly asks you to partake in a “relationship?” You immediately accept his conditional proposal on auto-pilot before he barely finishes his sentence.
It felt so wrong, yet so right. How can you hate this arrangement when you enjoyed that first kiss you shared with Kise earlier? But how can you love this arrangement when you knew Kise only kissed you to drive everyone off? You stopped on the sidewalk and heaved a huge exhale, and you continued to walk again, the action not even remotely able to clear your head. Your mind continues to swirl and race.
You agreed to this. He even laid out his intentions very clearly to you, and he was more than ready to leave you alone if you didn’t consent to this. But stupid, desperate you did. You were ashamed to feel even a shred of flattery when he told you that you were the only one he can ask to drive off his fans in this only effective method: a relationship.
“Why me?” you said, looking up at his casual posture. “Don’t you have someone you like to ask to be in a relationship? I’m sure they’d be more than happy to accept you…”
“Well,” he mumbled. “I don’t really have someone in mind… you’re kinda the only one who doesn’t drool over me whenever I’m near, and I just ought to ask for your help.”
“W-Well,” you slightly stammered. “I’m okay with helping you, right, so…”
“This isn’t something to accept so readily, you know,” he said, raising a brow. “I know this is super sudden, and it wouldn’t be fair for me to force an answer out of you right at this moment. Besides, I don’t think there’s any incentive for you to be in this either? It’s okay if you don’t want to.”
“N-No!” you interrupted, but you coughed to regain your composure. “I mean, I do have something in this… maybe if I got with you, people would stop trying to harass and tease me if I had someone like you by my side.” That was a half-truth, but you knew there was no way you could reveal your crush to him… not when he believed you were “different” from the others. But can anyone blame you for sticking up for Kise when someone was talking about him like a piece of meat rather than a normal person? “Besides, for you to get to this point, things must’ve gotten too chaotic to simply tell them to stop, right?”
“Huh… is that so,” he said, stretching his neck, but you didn’t know whether or not he intentionally ignored your last question. “Well, if you’re fine with this, I’m letting you know now that we’ll be doing actual couple stuff, like…” He pauses for a second to gauge your reaction. “Hugging, hand-holding… probably kissing too…”
“Y-Yeah,” you nodded. “That’s fine with me! And we’ll have a code word in case either of us overstep our boundaries in any way… maybe…”
“Unagi,” he said.
“Huh? Why?”
“Because they’re the bane of evil…”
“It’s just a dish, but…” you laughed, giddy at how he already showed a different side to you apart from his cool persona. “Alright, let’s go with that.”
How long were you able to keep this up? You pat yourself on the cheeks to dismiss the rest of your fantasies. If you keep this up, Kise will soon notice how you actually were head-over-heels for him all this time, and surely you’ll lose any future chance with him. Besides, maybe you can use this unique arrangement to learn about Kise and his hobbies other than basketball. Yes, you tell yourself, jogging the rest of the way home. It won’t be so bad, after all.
———
Starting today, you’ll be officially dating Kise.
That’s how it is on paper, anyways.
How are you supposed to act while dating the Kise Ryōta? Equally cool and flamboyant? Athletically capable? Would you weird out Kise if you were the one initiating physical affection?
“(y/n)!”
You flinch, not expecting anyone to call for you so early in the morning, and your walking route to school was never shared with another student as far as you were concerned. After all, your path was a little more obscured and unorthodox compared to the majority of students traversing the main neighborhood paths.
“Sorry… did I scare you?” You stop and turn to the source of the voice, only to be surprised when you see Kise himself. “Why do you look so surprised? Didn’t we agree on the time to meet up and walk to school together?”
“Oh… yeah…” In the midst of your thoughts, it seems that you forgot the arrangements you made with him yesterday evening. “My bad?”
“Oh, come on,” he gives a mock-hurt face with a hand to his chest. “Am I that forgettable, (y/n)?”
“N-No!” you immediately deny. You knew it was more like the other way around, the way constant thoughts of Kise preoccupy in your head too much. How can you ever forget him when he constantly runs through your mind everyday for so long? Kise merely gives a good-natured sigh before he changes the subject.
“Kidding,” he says, holding out a hand to you. “Seriously though, get your act together. We gotta start acting the part if we want this to work.” You stare at his hand, hesitating for a split moment before you put your own hand on top. His large hand easily encompasses yours, and the warmth makes you widen your eyes. It… felt nice.
You were so entranced by your linked hands that you failed to notice how Kise was staring at your face with a sharp glint in his eyes, but when you look up back to his face, he easily morphs his expression into his signature grin. He swings your hands around like an excited kid and turns to walk ahead to tug you along.
“Alrighty!~ Let’s hurry together before I get chewed out by Kasamatsu-senpai!”
“Kise, have you ever considered that it’s not really your tardiness that gets the captain mad but more so about the way you seem to irritate him with the way you skip around?”
“(y/n),” he says with a pout, “you know you’re not being convincing when you use my last name to address me as your boyfriend.”
“R-Right,” you stammer, still not used to the entire situation. “Ah… wait. Don’t you uh… call people who are close to you with -cchi?”
“Huh…” he mumbles, looking up at the cloudy sky before looking ahead of the path. “Not necessarily people who are close, just people who I really admire. I guess I addressed you like that yesterday without really thinking.”
“U-Uh, right… sorry.” He stops walking with your hand still in tow, and you almost bumped into his back at his sudden movement. He turns to you with a quite serious look.
“Do you want me to call you that?”
It was a normal question, but for some reason it felt like the next sentence coming from your mouth would make a huge impact on the way the two of you would interact in the future. From the way Kise looks at you with such a scrutinizing gaze, it feels like a trick question, and you’re not sure how to answer it. Your mouth goes dry when you try to reply.
“I… I don’t know.”
“You don’t know?” Kise’s eyes widen a fraction before he gives an unexpected chortle. “Pfft… how do you not know what you want to be addressed as?”
“Arrgh, oh shut it!” you frown, hitting his arm in a fluster before stalking off ahead. You remember that you were supposed to go to school together, and you begrudgingly stop and turn back to wait for him to catch up. “Ryōta, just call me whatever you want. You’re already calling me by my first name, so I doubt anyone would care if you added -cchi or not.” Still, your cheeks turn pink at the realization that Kise would be uttering your first name for the next couple… whenever this relationship will last.
“You… wait up!” Kise wheezes dramatically, despite the both of you knowing full well how easily he can catch up to your stride. “You really shouldn’t be treating your boyfriend like that! Especially on the first day!” Kise holds your hand again to lead you to the rest of the way to school.
All the while, you’ve been staring at his back, your heartstrings being tugged so mercilessly at the cacophony of emotions you were feeling the whole time. He felt so warm, so inviting, but the way he held your hands felt cold and transactional.
———
You’re not sure how to react whenever Kise introduced himself as your “boyfriend” to everyone or whenever nosy students inquired about your new “boyfriend.” All you could do was gulp and manage the most convincing act you could do within different contexts. Smile, laugh, get bashful, be modest in talking about how Kise managed to “like” you, pretend you know many embarrassing stories and sides to him that no one else did. Truthfully, you were just as in the dark as anybody else.
You think the only reason why everyone bought the couple-act was due to how enamored you were in talking about him. This was the only response you could be truthful about. At least you could use your huge crush to your advantage in portraying yourself as the “lovey-dovey” half of the couple. Yet it feels unbelievably wrong.
You knew you had to prepare yourself some preset answers for curious students, but you didn’t expect yourself to be participating in neverending “interviews” in these social settings. You thought this relationship would entail a closer access to Kise’s true self, but things suggest otherwise.
“Ryōta,” you say, peering up at his face as the both of you walk down the hallway to your designated spot for lunch together. Even as you two walk, he puts a reasonable distance between the two of you when there is no one in close proximity. Even when you two are together, he only grabs your hand when it’s socially convenient. Even when Kise approaches you to talk, you know it’s never anything beyond for the sake of acting. And you agreed to this entire thing.
“Hm?” He spares a glance to your figure before returning his gaze ahead.
“Uh, I brought extra food today,” you say, trying to use this situation to try to express your genuine feelings to him in small increments. “I brought an extra bento box too… in case, you don’t wanna actually share one…” He was about to reply before a pair of students turned around the corner to head towards your direction. Kise narrows his eyes at the unexpected turn of events, and immediately turns to you brightly.
“(y/n)! You really thought that I wouldn’t like the idea?” he pouts. “Of course I wanna share a bento with you! Silly…” He slightly bends to your level to place a chaste peck on your forehead.
“Ah…” you freeze at his soft touch, your legs stiff in place as you stop walking. Kise, in response, moves his lips to your ears, and you slightly shiver at the unexpected intimacy… it was the closest he’s gotten to you ever since that public stunt when he kissed you in front of everyone the other day.
“Hey, don’t just stand there… you can’t overreact like this over something couples do everyday.” You bit your lip in an attempt to stop your heart from sinking from disappointment, but in turning your face to him to spill an apology, your face ended up right in front of his. Your eyes widen but he only stares at you with such an intensity that makes you hold your breath in anticipation.
But he immediately draws away and stretches with a yawn. “Looks like those people left right after they thought they intruded on a private moment between us,” he says. “Sheesh, people really do the most to be so nosy nowadays.” You wonder how he can be so casual about this all. Perhaps it was a mistake to be here like this when you were so in love with him, overthinking every single thing he did.
Why didn’t he kiss you this time? Did he not find you the teensiest attractive enough to want to kiss you even without an audience nearby?
“Come on,” he mumbles, waving a hand through your face. “Quit making that face. I won’t be doing that to you without warning anytime soon. My bad, okay?” Kise sheepishly holds out a hand for a handshake to make peace, and you wordlessly take his hand. One day, you’ll stop being his special someone to savor his warmth…
No, you thought, you’re an idiot… he’s never considered you as someone special.
You debated in telling him that you were fine with him kissing you, but you hold your tongue, afraid that he’ll realize your true feelings about him. Besides, were you really okay with him kissing you when he didn’t reciprocate the same feelings?
“It… wasn’t like what you think,” you hesitate. “It just caught me off guard.”
“Well,” he laughs. “That’s a relief! By the way…” He stops to settle himself on the bench. “What’s exactly your lunch? Since you went through the effort to bring extras, I guess I’ll eat them.”
“I packed salmon from leftovers I had from home,” you reply, taking out your bento box and utensils. You decide to shake off your negative thoughts and shove them to the back of your mind. He makes a horrified face at the lunchbox. “Kise, what’s wrong?”
“Do you… happen to have anything else packed?”
“Rice?”
“Well,” he coughs. “I’m not a fan of dishes with boned fish.”
“Didn’t you say you hated unagi too?” Kise shyly averts his gaze before he reluctantly confirms it so. “They’re delicious though! Especially when they’re grilled!” At first, he refused to answer, but the more you tried to poke and prod (literally too, at his ribs), he finally gave in.
“Alright, alright! But I swear, you better not tell anyone!… I choked on a fish bone one time…”
“… And?”
“And yeah.”
“You choked on a bone once and you got scared out of eating fish—”
“Shhhh!” he hushes, emphasizing his hiss with a finger to his lips. At this very moment, you saw a glimpse into who Kise really is, and you can’t help but bust out a genuine, carefree laugh for the first time in front of him. In embarrassment, he bonks your head with his fist to get you to stop laughing, but it only makes you more conscious of how close he is to you.
But just as quickly and telepathically, Kise puts some distance between the two of you, sitting closer to the edge of the bench. He opts to hunch over casually and keenly watch you scarf down your meal in minutes without a care.
You wonder if you should feel guilty for enjoying this moment with Kise, even if he was only waiting with you out of obligation of being your “boyfriend,” but right now, you allowed yourself to indulge, letting your heart beat sporadically without guilt and fear for once. You continue to savor your lunch in silence, concentrating on munching around the fish bones, while Kise sat in contemplation all the while.
———
“You should come watch our practice game today, (y/n).”
“Eh?”
You tilt your head at him in confusion. It’s been two weeks since you started this arrangement with him, but nothing extraordinary or groundbreaking happened between the two of you, much to your despondency. But you knew, you shouldn’t be asking for too much when you already have the once-in-a-lifetime chance to be close to him like this.
“There’s going to be a lot of people coming,” he explains. “Even if it’s just a practice game… it’d be weird if you weren’t there, because, you know, we’re dating.”
“I don’t mind going,” you reply. “It sounds fun.”
“You know, you’ve been agreeing to everything I’ve been suggesting the entire time,” he mumbles to himself, but he zips his mouth shut when he sees you instinctively moving closer to try to catch what he said. “Uh, in any case… just stop by the gym whenever you can.”
So here you are a few hours later, being the first person to settle yourself on top of the 2nd floor of the gym. You rest your arms on the railway, fascinated by the Kaijō basketball team and their skills. As they warm up on the courts, it’s the first time you see Kise truly at ease and happy with the people he cares about, and your heart pangs in jealousy seeing his genuine smile. You were pulled out of your thoughts when you realized the gym became completely crowded, the constant chattering announcing huge crowds along the entrance and the lucky watchers at the 2nd floor with you.
You didn’t mind the onlookers when all you were focused on was Kise throughout the entire game with a smitten look, and you weren’t surprised when his team easily won against the other local school.
“That’s Kise isn’t it?” You were about to turn to leave the higher floor to wait outside the gym when you heard his name. You stop to eavesdrop on the conversation next to you.
“Yeah, I’ve been hearing about him way too much. Something about him dating now?”
“He’s dating (l/n) right now, which is super weird because they never even talked… and all of the sudden, they’re dating? I didn’t think of him to be into short-term flings.”
“You think he’s using (l/n) in some way? What an asshole.”
“Yikes. You’re probably not even that far off the bulls-eye. He’s a really heartless guy, from what I’ve heard.”
“Hey,” you interrupt, scaring the two girls out of their wits before they turn to you. “I don’t think you should talk about Kise like that when all you know of him is through speculation.”
“Ugh, here we go again with his fans…” one of them groans, rolling her eyes. “Look, I get it, he’s good-looking and all, but I don’t understand how you can defend him to death when he doesn’t even spare a glance at you… ah… shit, you’re (l/n)?” A flash of hurt was visible on your face for a split second before you frowned. Their words unintentionally hit the nail in the coffin.
“Whether I’m (l/n) or not doesn’t really matter,” you say angrily. “Gossiping about anyone like that isn’t something you should make a habit out of.”
“Jeez, let’s just leave,” the other girl whispers, dragging the first girl along.
You simply stand there watching them leave, but you can’t shake off what they said. They were right… how could you be so whipped for him when you know he’ll never see you the same way?
“Oy!”
Kise’s voice brings you back to your consciousness as he waves at you from the court. “You’ve been standing there for a while! Hurry up, or I’ll leave you behind, (y/n)-cchi!”
“Coming!” You race from the 2nd floor to the ground level to catch up to him, your heart pounding all the while. Did he… did he just…?
You shake your head before you reunite with him to walk home together. Stop it… don’t overthink it.
———
Kise waits at his usual spot to wait for you before walking to school together. It’s been three weeks since he’s approached you to “date.” He’s grown quite comfortable with this arrangement, being close to you and backing off when it’s convenient. After all, if you somehow showed a gruesome true self of yours, he’d be able to separate himself from you with no consequences… even if his heart would cry out not to.
“Ryōta!” There you are, running down the path towards him so cheerfully. Could you really be an awful person when you have such a pure smile like that?
“Ah, (y/n)-cchi,” he says. “We should hurry if we wanna be inside campus. It’s a little chilly today, so being indoors sounds really nice right now.” He peers over to your face to see your nose slightly red from the cold, and he huffs out a chuckle, noting the warm puff of air escaping from his own lips.
“I guess it’s a little cold today,” you say, looking up at Kise with a slight childish wonder. “Hey, that’s a pretty cool cloud that you puffed out.”
“You have some clouds around you too.” He gently smiles, and he notes that your eyes widen at the sight of him. “Wha? Is my face that horrific, (y/n)-cchi?” You avert your gaze as your cheeks grow just as red as your nose.
“Nah… i-it’s nothing…ah—” He holds your cheeks to turn your face back to him, and he draws near with a serious gaze, bumping his forehead against yours.
“You’re actually really cold…”
“Uh, um… I don’t think I’m c-cold anymore—” you stammer, your eyes darting to look everywhere but his face, and Kise’s eyes only scrutinize your behavior further.
“Hm, if you say so…” he mumbles. Your eyes flutter close at the anticipation, and he feels the pull towards your lips, closing his own lids shut…
Wait, what was he thinking? He snaps his lids open and slightly draws himself away to look at you, still vulnerable with your closed eyes. It’s only when he drops his hands from your cheeks and turns to walk ahead when you flutter your eyes open again. Don’t let your feelings for (y/n) blind you into figuring out who they really are.
“Come on,” Kise calls out to you. “We should get going… we don’t wanna be late.” Besides, what if there’s a possibility that you don’t really like him at all?
“Y-Yeah…”
The rest of the walk was in silence, with Kise slightly ahead of you. Perhaps if he turned around at least once to check on you, he would’ve seen the consequences of his actions.
You were silently crying the entire walk.
———
Nothing seems to change much for the entire month. The way the two of you dance and sway around each other, while never being too close, never being too affectionate, never being completely honest. In this shared rose-tinted world, the frail glass that holds these moments together threatens to break with every fickle interaction. Every shared kiss constitutes another small crack to the rose-tinted crystal.
And both of you are content with just the way things are.
Or that’s what you both mutter to yourselves like a mantra.
“Ryōta!” you call out to him. “Did you wait long?”
“Not really,” he says. “I just barely got out too… the teacher was really lenient on dismissal today, actually.” His heart swells at the sight of you as usual, but just as quickly, he’s always managed to quash his emotions in check.
For the first time, you initiate physical touch with him without hesitation, linking your hands with his and snuggling up to him. He flinches, not fast enough to process the sudden warmth of your body, and he immediately separates himself from you. Do you actually like him after all?… No, something is up, right?
“Ryōta…?” You flinch just as severely from the sudden reaction, and he turns to avoid looking at your face, knowing that his resolve would crumble right in front of you. He’s a coward, and he fucking knows it.
“S-Sorry, (y/n)-cchi! I don’t know what came over me like that, but you know you don’t have to force yourself to do things like that, right? There’s no one here, so let’s just walk home together like we always do, yeah?”
He turns to already walk ahead, too afraid of hearing your response and hoping you would follow and catch up to him… like you always do.
You simply stood there for a few moments, anguish clear as the sky above you as you keep telling yourself to manage your own expectations. Still, your voice croaks out quietly to respond to him, even if you knew he wasn’t going to hear it.
“… But I wanted to do these things with you, Ryōta.”
———
It’s been several days since that incident.
It was very awkward for the most part, the walks to and from school silent and suffocating. He’s not quite sure how to go about it while trying not to sound disingenuous about it. Nonetheless, even through his quiet apology, your face still lights up, and he’s confused about why you would ever be so forgiving of him.
Although today, lines have been crossed and this shared secretive world between the two of you have completely shattered to the point of no return.
It was quite a blur, an instinct that Kise has developed over the course of this relationship. Every time a group of students drew near, he was always ready to tug you close for a kiss until they left and carry on with their day. Today was usually no exception.
Another group of students was hanging around the corner, presumably spying on you two, and Kise did what he’s always done, grabbing your hand and embracing you for a kiss. Your eyes were blown open in surprise, but when you saw Kise’s eyes elsewhere, something finally snapped inside.
You push him away at his chest.
“U-Unagi… unagi…” Your voice trembles, and you use your arms to cover up the fresh tears. The code word sounds unbelievably stupid out of context, but at this moment, the word alone stabs Kise in his chest. “I-I… just stop… please.” Kise stares dumbly at you, processing the fact that you just used the agreed safe word against him.
“… (y/n)-cchi?” Kise asks with a confused smile. “You’ve never objected to kissing before… I’ve even told you what we’ll be doing if you agreed to this…?”
“How…” you choke on tears. “H-How can you kiss me like that while your eyes are on someone else…?”
“I don’t understand—”
“A-Am I that atrocious to kiss unless you stare at something else or there’s some convenience?”
“I don’t get it, (y/n)-cchi,” he frowns. “Did you expect more out of this or am I missing something?”
“There was no reason to kiss me like that,” you softly wail. “Everyone already knows we’re a thing for… o-over a month now. There’s no reason to kiss me around people anymore when they won’t suspect us anyways…”
“So you don’t want me to kiss you anymore?” Kise’s heart sinks in thinking about where this is going.
“No!—you don’t… you don’t fucking get it! I don’t get it—! Why are we doing this anymore—I just, I see no reason to continue this anymore… you already shooed off your fans, right? Why haven’t you ended this?!”
“(y/n)-cchi—I…” He reaches out for you, but you immediately recoil.
“No—please… no more, I can’t do this anymore!” you sniffle. “I can’t fucking do this… I’m done, I’m tired—please… just look for another person to take my place… I… I’m done—I can’t pretend with you anymore when I always expect more out of it like a love-stricken fool!”
“I…”
“Look—see,” you choke. “I’m just like everyone else who’s in love with you, I’m no different than everyone else R-Ryōta… so that’s why, I-I… can’t do this anymore!”
Kise stands there, staring at you running away from him. It was like everything had gone silent, save for the sound of his blood pounding in his ears.
“You think he’s using (l/n) in some way? What an asshole.”
“Yikes. You’re probably not even that far off the bulls-eye. He’s a really heartless guy, from what I’ve heard.”
He hated rumors, he really did… but for the first time, he feels like he deserves every word thrown at him around the hallways and classrooms. His memory flits to the time when he felt warm from seeing you standing up for him, even if he wasn’t bothered by them before. Now, the warmth is replaced by agonizing regret and guilt wracking through his entire body. His hands feel cold with you gone from his side.
What has he done?
———
He’s grown quiet for the next week.
It’s been a week since you ran from him, and it’s been a week since he last talked to you.
Even his teammates were concerned about his reserved behavior, but just as always, he’s managed to shoot them a convincing smile. Kasamatsu was more persistent about this but eventually dropped it seeing Kise’s refusal to talk about it.
That day when you pushed him away, he couldn’t sleep, his thoughts keeping him awake the entire night. He resolved himself to talk to you the next day… but he changed his mind the last minute… and then he told himself he’d do it the next day… and then he changed his mind again.
He tells himself that it’s because you rightfully hate him, with the way you’d surround yourself with other crowds and groups to prevent him from walking up to you when you were alone. He tells himself that it’s because both you and him needed space to cool off and go back to the way you two were. He refuses to tell himself that it’s because he’s an honest-to-god coward.
He misses you. He misses you damn badly. Why the fuck did he go through such lengths instead of confessing to you straight up? He tells himself that he was being cautious. He tells himself that he doesn’t want his heart to be broken again. He refuses to conclude that it’s because he’s a fucking coward.
“I don’t know what’s been on your mind, idiot,” Kasamatsu says. “But you better solve this yourself quickly if you’re not opening up to me about this. We can’t have your performance quality be dropping even in practice. Hurry up and fix this shit with (l/n)-san already.”
“H-How’d you know?!” Kise raises his head from his desk in astonishment.
“Tch, idiot,” he glowers, chopping Kise’s head with a swift hand. “It’s too obvious from the way you’re moping around… from the way you two stuck together all this time, who wouldn’t notice something happened from the way you’re at your desk watching (l/n)-san like that?”
“O-Ow…” Kise grumbles rubbing his head. Ironically, his captain’s hit cleared up his doubts and he took a deep breath before exhaling. “Got it, senpai.”
“You better.” Kasamatsu goes back to talking to his classmates during break, and even despite not knowing the truth of the relationship, he manages to give solid advice as usual.
Tomorrow. He’ll find you tomorrow.
———
He doesn’t know where else to find you alone other than the place he’s always waited for you before you two used to walk to school together. So he stands there, almost an hour earlier in case you had the idea to walk to school extremely early to avoid him at all costs.
He was right.
Here you are, shuffling your feet as you trudged yourself along the path and looking down at your feet. You even manage to walk past by him without noticing his presence.
Even if you’ve grown to hate him, he’s willed himself to come completely clean about his feelings to you for once. But a part of him is thinking to change his mind again and just let you slip away from his fingers. It’d spare the both of you the inevitable, right?
“R-Ryōta…?”
He was pulled from his thoughts, startled to see you staring at him from a short distance away. Apparently you did notice him after all.
“… (y/n)-cchi…” He swallows his words, knowing full well that his stupid words might blow this up for him again, his words responsible for all the rumors at school, his words responsible for hurting you and will hurt you again.
He wordlessly walks up to you and holds your cheek, and waits. He waits for you to push him away again. He waits for you to say the code word to let him know that you don’t want him near you again. The thought of you running away from him nearly brings him to tears, but he gulps his emotions down and stares at you calmly, with only his upturned brows hinting to his inner turmoil.
“Ryō—”
He swiftly brings his head down and kisses you. In feeling the warmth for the first time in a while, he greedily drinks from your lips, holding your temples more firmly as he searches for more, more, more.
You push him away.
Kise immediately lets go and stares at you like a lost child, unable to mask the devastation from the implications of your actions. But you’re still gripping his uniform tightly, almost as if you didn’t want to let go.
“W-Why…?” you croak, biting your lips to stop any tears from breaking through. “There’s no reason to kiss me. Don’t you know that we’re done? There’s no one to watch us here, no reason for you to walk me to school anymore. You know that, Ryōta. After all, we haven’t talked since a week ago, and you have the audacity to come here and kiss me like everything is okay—”
“… I want to kiss you, because there’s no one around, because there’s no other reason for me to.”
“Why…?” your voice softens to a whisper. “Don’t you hate anyone who likes you in that way? I… I already told you that I see you in that light, like many of your fans do. Don’t you hate me? Don’t you hate me for using this arrangement to get closer to you? Don’t you hate me for expecting something real out of this?”
“I already had an inkling of suspicion that you liked me, (y/n)-cchi,” Kise turns away to look at the bright morning sky. “I just didn’t know if I was wrong or not.”
“Then… why did you ask me to do this whole thing with you…?”
“Because I’m a coward,” he says, looking back to you. You were stunned into silence. For the first time, he finally admits what’s been weighing on his mind for weeks out loud, and his eyes, while drenched in shame, were full of resoluteness. “I liked you, but I was too afraid for the day when you ended up being not like the person I ended up liking. I liked you, but I was afraid of a real relationship that would tie me down. I liked you, but I was afraid of making huge decisions that involved another person into my life. I didn’t want to end the fake relationship because I was too fucking selfish… if I ended it, I’d lose the only connection I had with you… I’m sorry.”
Both of you went silent, bathed in the light of the rising sun. Kise drops to a squat to hide his face from you, and you knew he was trying to stop himself from tearing up. He knows how uncool he looks, but he had no right to cry when you were the one who got hurt the most.
“Ryōta, did you really find it difficult to kiss me…? Just… be honest.”
“Yes,” he looks up from his squat to stare at you with an intense look, even despite his puffy eyes. “Everytime I kissed you, I found it hard to control myself. I thought, what if you were using me to somehow get a kiss from me? or what if I couldn’t stop myself from kissing you and I ended up taking things too far? Looking anywhere but you at least stopped me from getting too invested…”
By now, both of you had turned completely red at his honesty, but he still found you frankly stunning even with your red, puffy eyes. “Look, (y/n)-cchi, don’t you hate me? I used you. The rumors are right—I’m a complete asshole. Just… I won’t blame you if you walk away right now.”
“You do know that I used this opportunity to get closer to you, right?… I wasn’t a saint about this either, so… I’m sorry too.” Both of you go silent again, and you slowly drop yourself to his level in a squat of your own in front of him.
“… C-Can we… can we start over?” you whisper, your warm breath tickling his chilled nose.
“(y/n)-cchi, I don’t think I’m capable of continuing this arrangement…”
“No,” you huff, before you tentatively press a chaste kiss to his lips. “I mean… can we… start over, but this time, as a real couple? I… want this relationship to be substantial. I really do like you, Ryōta.” You murmur against his lips with your hands on top of your knees, waiting for him to rebuke you away with an easygoing comment or a plastered smile.
But he doesn’t do any of that.
“I… guess we can try that,” Kise mumbles, gaze averted as his cheeks flame brighter than his nose and ears.
“Can you kiss me again?” you ask, your voice cracking at the end out of fear he’d turn down your request. Kise flicks his gaze back to you to see you equally red with a hesitant expression.
“Could you… close your eyes?” he asks with a frown.
“H-Huh?”
“Y-You don’t need to see me looking like a mess, I don’t look charming right now.”
“I… guess…” After a few moments of hesitation, you flutter your eyes shut, waiting apprehensively for his lips to descend onto yours again. Kise holds your cheeks and takes the time to admire your features for the first time, and his smile grows wider with every passing second.
‘R-Ryōta…?” Afraid of the fact that he actually may not like kissing you after all, you worriedly open your eyes, only to be greeted by the most brilliant smile from Kise, his figure illuminated by the sunshine hitting the back of his head at the perfect angle.
“(y/n)-cchi,” he teases with a small pout. “Didn’t I tell you to close your eyes?”
Who needs a rose-tinted lens when the sight before you is already so radiant to behold?

Hi! Might I request a scenario which takes place after the match with team Jabbawock, where Murasakibara’s s/o is doting on him and his broken arm? Thanks for readibg this :3
HEHE HELLO AND THANK YOU FOR USING THE SUBMISSION IT MADE MY LIFE ALOT EASIER BLESS UP, and thank you for stopping by!
Murasakibara x Reader
Word Count: 1300
»»————— ☼ —————««
“Jeez! You’re absolutely nuts! Have you ever considered that I might’ve gotten an actual heart attack in seeing you not only getting knocked back with a bleeding wound but also getting completely crushed by that very same basketball player?!”
“… You’re mad, Chibi-chin.” He merely glances at you in the corner of his eye as he simply reaches for another snack amongst the many cradled in his arm sling. Both of you were walking around the city for sightseeing before returning to Akita tomorrow.
“No—! I…” you hesitate, exhaling a long sigh before you cool your head from the pent-up adrenaline from the frustration, anger, and excitement in the momentous game prior. “I was just… really, really worried, okay?”
“Don’t worry,” he drawls, his mouth filled with chips that Riko’s father had splurged on earlier. “My awrm is fine.” He casually moves around his wrapped arm to make his point, but you immediately pounce on him to stop him from possibly further straining it.
“Stop, stop, stop, stop!” You held down his arm to his side with both your hands while giving him a glare. “You’re gonna strain it even more! Just… take it easy! You already gave it your all in the game, right? So…” He merely frowns at you while chewing.
“I wazn gervin it my all, though,” he pouts, finishing his bite before he continues. “Right when I got fired up, that happened, remember?” He tried to move his slinged arm around to prove his point, but your glare stopped him from having any ideas.
“Okay, I see what you mean,” you say, giving him a consoling look but then let out a laugh when you see Murasakibara quite unbothered about his predicament despite what happened. “How about to make it all up, I’ll treat you to any snacks you’re craving for today?” Immediately, he turns to you with a childish sparkle.
“Really?” Honestly, how could you say no to his puppy eyes?
“Duh,” you say, playfully rolling your eyes. “Besides, I thought you were really cool on the court. Think of it as a reward for finally giving all your effort into something, and… maybe as a future incentive to work hard? Uh… Atsushi?” He’s already eyeing the takoyaki stand across the street, his mouth practically drooling at the vivid display of the finished product at the front of the cart. You must admit, the aroma of the dish was way too irresistible to ignore. But, upon looking at the menu pricings, you died a little on the inside. You always knew how pricey takoyaki was, but being Murasakibara’s personal wallet for today, it killed you a little bit. Just a bit.
“… Um, Atsushi,” you cough. “The prices are pretty daunting.”
“But Chibi-chin, I want takoyaki.”
W-well…” In seeing your hesitation, Murasakibara stares at you before he reaches out to ruffle your hair, something that shocks you out of your inner dilemma.
“Actually, I want konpeito, so let’s hurry Chibi-chin,” he says, reaching for your hand with his uninjured hand to tug you along. “They might run out if we don’t get going.” But before he walked away with your hand in his own, you immediately pulled back.
“W-Wait!” you protest. “I’m hungry, and um—takoyaki could be a sufficient meal for the both of us—” In seeing how vehement you were, Murasakibara only gives a look that says that he saw through your bluff.
“If it costs too much, it’s not a big deal,” he says with a languid shrug. You, on the other hand, begin to drag the giant to the takoyaki stand regardless with a gained odd sense of determination.
“It’s a special occasion! We always get konpeito anyways so… something different would be nice, don’t you think?” you mumble. “Besides! I can always earn money back! And I did say that I’ll treat you to anything you crave today. Hurry up, or the line will get long!”
———
“You take too long to eat these, Chibi-chin.”
“You—you literally shoved every single one of these in single bites!”
“But they were good.”
“Atsushi, you’re not savoring these delectable flavors! The octopus bits and seasonings and—”
“If you’re not gonna eat the rest, can I have them?” He’s incredibly fixated on the takoyaki stick you were waving around in trying to scold him, and you immediately draw them away from his clutches before he had any funny ideas.
“No way! Don’t you need to save your stomach for other food we’ll eat later?—Actually, never mind, I wouldn’t doubt that you’d have a bottomless stomach for these things…” You turn your attention back to your last takoyaki and sigh in amusement. “But I guess if you still want more I’ll let you have this last one. I can’t really afford another serving of takoyaki, so this should suffice…”
You really should’ve expected this from someone like Murasakibara, but he simply stood there with his mouth slightly open, with a finger pointing to it expectantly. He wanted you to feed it to him.
“Oh come on,” you groan. “You’re way too tall for me to reach up to your head! No way I’m gonna do something this embarrassing in public!”
“But you said you’ll treat me,” he says with a slight whine.
“W-What does that have to do with this?!”
“Food always tastes better for sure when you feed it,” he insists. “You said that you’ll let me eat anything I crave. No other vendor can replicate flavors the same way you can.”
“That’s not how it works!”
“Besides, can’t do much with a broken arm, now can I, Chibi-chin?” He sends a smug look your way with a slight twinkle in his eyes, all the while slightly moving around said broken arm to sell his argument.
“I… wow,” you say, looking dumbstruck. “Fine… but at least… bend down a bit so I can reach you halfway, and make it quick.” But of course Murasakibara descends in the slowest pace possible, never once letting your eye contact leave his gaze as he somehow makes eating a single takoyaki somewhat risque. You stand there holding your stick, frozen like a statue as your face heats up faster than a vendor grill.
“Yup, that was really yummy~” he says, immediately standing up straight again and turning around to look for the next dish to feast on. Like he totally just didn’t seduce you a second ago. “Chibi-chin, we should just buy snacks from the store and go home. Walking around is tiring.”
“Uh…” you cough to recover yourself. “Yeah, whatever you wanna eat, Atsushi.”
“And you’ll feed me them too, right?”
“Y-You! You totally did that on purpose, you—”
“Hah? Dunno what you’re talking about, Chibi-chin.” He tugs your arm when he realized you stood there like a wide-eyed kid, completely red like a tomato. You would’ve believed his words if it wasn’t for that slight smirk he had when he turned back to look at your state. “Nothing tastes as good as you though.”
“A-Atsushi!”
“Hn, my muscles feel all sore from the game and walking around. Let’s hurry up so we can cuddle together.”
“Oh no, you don’t! We’re not gonna pretend like you didn’t just say what you said!… But, ahem, cuddling doesn’t sound like a bad idea… Wait! We can’t strain your arm! I’ll have to check it up once we get home!”
“… Do you really have to? That’s annoying… my arm’s fine.”
“If you let me check it, we can cuddle however much you want.”
“Really?”
“Duh, think of it as another reward for today!”
You suddenly get déjà vu from your own words, and you really wonder if you accidentally dug yourself another grave when Murasakibara shoots you a gleeful closed-eye smile. But you just can’t help it when it comes to him.

Oblivious!reader as Aomine’s Crush
May I request for an HC or Fic, you can choose, of like…Aomine’s crush is like the MOST OBLIVIOUS person and at least the same year as sakurai. Daiki teases them to be flirty but they think he hates them so they go to basketball practice crying looking for ryo because aomine “hates” them but daiki just butts in and tells them in frustraition? If only you’re okay with it though hahahaha
@thirsthourdemon hi!! sorry it took so long woooo thank you for stopping by this blog and sorry it took so long D:
Oblivious!reader x Aomine Daiki
[Headcanons]
Note: as much as my head is FILLED with the urge to write a fic, my uni classes said “hell no.”
so you can be a bit dense and while Aomine finds it really really cute at first…
endearing and cute… only for the first few weeks he’s tried to make a somewhat attempt to hit on you ever since he saw you smiling at your class president in the hallways
but after that,,,, well,,,,,,,,
you were very close friends with Sakurai, his mild, but responsible personality meshing perfectly well with your slightly airheaded personality
what does that mean? well, you would sit on the benches to watch Sakurai practice while you were either A.) doing your homework and being absolutely oblivious to the curious (or less than decent) stares or B.) eating Sakurai’s extra bentos he would sometimes pack that day because you would sometimes forget your own
this doesn’t bode well for Aomine, especially since he ditches practice 24/7 and every time he tries to look for you after school, he could never find you for some reason
until he showed up to practice that one time to steal an octo-dog from Sakurai’s bento when he saw you talking with the coach, trying to earnestly learn more about the sport
ohohohoho, his smirk grew and he’s having the wildest ideas in trying to get your attention
*proceeds to rip off the entire backboard and glances to your figure to see you wide-eyed*
*also waits outside the gym with a confused Momoi until everyone except you and Sakurai leave*
Aomine also tells Momoi to scram, also subtly glares at Sakurai
both leave but both give each other the look before they both hide behind the bushes to eavesdrop
there was no way in hell Sakurai would leave you alone to Aomine, even if he was someone who wasn’t confrontational
Momoi, on the other hand, even if she was pissed he name-called her, didn’t trust him to be on his own devices, especially with someone as sweet as you
“So you’re the one Wakamatsu has been ranting about,” you said tilting your head up as you took in Aomine’s appearances for the first time
“Huh? Yeah I guess,” he flippantly grumbled, scratching the back of his head as he averted his gaze away
you gasped, bringing Aomine’s (and the eavesdroppers’) attention back to you
“Wha…? Where’s Ryo?”
“…” - everyone right now
as you cluelessly look around your surroundings, Aomine steps forward to clasp your wrist and slightly tug you towards him to get your attention back on him
“Tch, forget about him for a second.” Aomine makes a harsh frown before remembering that he was supposed to make a good impression
your eyes curiously dropped to his hand on your wrist
“Aomine-san… Is there something wrong with my wrist?”
“Huh?? No, obviously not you idi—(y/n)—” he coughs out in an attempt to cover up his mishap but you don’t seem to notice
“Wahhhh, I have to look for Ryo!” you said, your brows furrowing. “He’s probably waiting for me right now! Ah, I’ll see you later, Aomine-san!”
and you dash from Aomine, breaking free from his loose clutch on you
Aomine just stands there dumbly, watching you until you leave his sight before he kicks the dirt in irritation
meanwhile, Sakurai leaves the bushes to chase after you and Momoi huffs as she stomps to him, pushing Aomine from behind
“Ow—what the hell?”
“Mou—I can’t believe it! You can’t just treat everyone like that!”
“Hah? You never nagged me about this before. Besides, don’t you people like that kinda stuff?”
“Ugh, Aho-mine! You lack delicacy! You have to be romantic and sweet if you like the person—!”
“Who says I like (y/n)?”
“It was as clear as day, stupid!”
meanwhile…
Sakurai is gently scolding you for getting yourself into a “possibly scary” situation although you don’t really get it
“What’s scary about Aomine?”
“E-e-eh?? Lots, (f/n)!! Did you not see him beat up Wakamatsu-san and rip off the hoop??”
“Well, I dunno, Ryo…” you started. “He seems out there, but I think he’s a nice guy.”
“That’s what you say to every person you meet.”
“Hmpf! Not everyone,” you pouted
“Just… just be careful, okay?… I worry for you…”
for the two weeks, it was a pattern of Aomine waiting for you outside the gym after every practice, while Momoi and Sakurai begrudgingly hiding to eavesdrop, ready to intervene if needed
that said, both are inwardly cringing at Aomine’s attempts at “flirting” while everything just seems to fly over your head as you blink and politely smile
“You’re not half-bad looking, y’know?”
“So who’s the other ‘half-bad’?”
“What?”
“What?”
You would tilt your head innocently at a flustered but frustrated Aomine
if you listen hard enough, you could hear a loud worried sigh and an “Ahomine!” from a distance
or another day:
“So there’s a movie at 5 tomorrow, and I got an extra ticket. Wanna go?”
“Don’t you have Momoi?”
“She has practice.”
“Don’t you have practice, too?”
“….”
or another day:
he decided to take Momoi’s advice in being more “forward” but showing enough romantic gestures to get the point across… but the only thing he could settle on without getting too sappy was the kabedon
“A-Aomine-san! What’s wrong? Can you stand properly? Do you need to go to the—”
“Shut up already, (y/n),” he drawled, before he tried to lean in closer to your face…
but then you slapped your hand to his forehead and leaned even closer to his face to try to feel his temperature
oh, but your lips—too close—too close—help—
“Oh no! You are burning up!”
Aomine was ready to faint right there and then
“You need to tell her and be honest, Dai-chan!”
“Shut up, Satsuki. Non’ya business.”
“It is, Aho-mine!” she huffed. “(y/n)-chan is my friend too!”
he groans as he sits up from his napping position at the rooftop before he stretches his limbs and walks to the gym
“Aomine-san! You’re coming to practice today?” you turned to the blue-haired ace at the doorway in surprise
“Nope, I’m sleeping.”
“Huh?”
he languidly walks to your side to steal your onigiri
“Wha—?”
“Thanks for the food, shortie.”
“Ah?”
and he gives your head a few firm taps before he leaves the gym before a Momoi unceremoniously bursts into the room, wheezing
“Is Dai-chan here?…”
you shake your head “no” in response, still in a stupor at processing what just happened, and Momoi just dashes back outside to track him down
“A-Aomine-san!” your fingers barely grazed the pencil as he held it up way above his own head. “Could you please… give that back?”
“You can get it back if you manage to get it,” he said, with a mischievous smirk on his face
“Wh-why meee?” you whined, as your breath shortens out of exertion
“You’re the only one who could cure my boredom.”
“Aho-mine! Give it back to (y/n)-chan!”
“Tch, fine…”
yeah, he’s just been calling you various names, stealing things and taunting you to get it back by running FULL SPEED IN THE HALLWAYS, knowing FULL WELL YOU COULD NEVER CATCH UP
“Dai-chan, can you stop messing with (y/n)-chan? You’re so childish, sheesh!”
“Didn’t you say to be honest? They’re short, right? And I’m just playing with (y/n). You know that.”
Momoi wants to kill him right there and then
“Ugh! I swear, you’re so dumb! We might know you don’t mean these things, but does (y/n)-chan know? Besides, you’re not being honest with your feelings to them at all! Stupid! Stupid, stupid, stupid!”
“Ryo,” you sniffled to him one day. “Do you think Aomine hates me?”
“W-well, as much as I stay away from him… If he hated anyone he would make sure they know it…”
“I knew it! Was it something I said?” you gasped. “Maybe I’m the reason why he never went to practice. Maybe my presence annoys him—”
and you’re ready to break down in the middle of the hallways at the possibility of having someone hate you because of your obliviousness to your own insensitivity
“N-no! (f/n)-san, it’s not that!” Sakurai uncharacteristically firmly says. “Why don’t you talk to him to sort it out?… I’ll walk you to him but…”
despite your reluctance, you figured it was the best course of action, and you were determined to at least apologize to him
well, you were until you turned around and walked smack dab into the touou ace
as you rub your nose to ease the pain and look up to the person, ready to apologize, you freeze
uh oh, did he hear the entire thing?
you mad dashed to the opposite direction but he immediately chases after you, leaving a concerned Sakurai in the dust
of course, you were no match for his long legs his agility and you were soon tackled by him when you were both outside the classroom buildings
as he tackled you, he cradled you into his arms as he twisted his body to take the brunt of the fall
“Ah! I’m so sorry, I’ll get off right no—”
he fully locked his lips onto yours
“Shut up, already.” he frowns before continuing, “I never hated you, stupid.”
“You… don’t?”
“Tch,” he clicks his tongue in irritation but he still pulled your cheek affectionately
“O-ow! Why don’t you go… to practice then?”
in response, he sighs and says, “it’s a long story, but I’ll tell you at Maji Burger… how’s that sound?”
“O-oh! I didn’t bring money today!”
“I meant as a date. You, me. Between us. As a romantic thing.”
“R-r-romantic!?”
“Do I have to spell it out?” he sighs loudly. “I like you, shortie.”
“H-hey!”

Hello❤️❤️❤️ congrats with 100 followers🥳🥳🥳 hope the audience will expand😍 and can I repeat myself again? I love your works😍
So, can I request 5 with Himuro?
hihihihihi!! ty sm for your support squeeeeee, sure you can repeat again, think of it as a thank you for being there since the beginning <333 i actually have so much requests now it’s kind of crazy!
Himuro x Reader
5. “Well. Yell, scream, say something. Anything”
Word Count: 2255
prompt list here
TW: attempted assault and stalking, nothing graphic, but these are the main subjects for this scenario, so PLEASE PLEASE take care of yourself first if these topics trigger you and avoid them!
»»————— ☼ —————««
Himuro felt helpless.
The Winter Cup that year when Seirin rightfully won was over months ago, but even still, there is still a part of him that gnaws at him from the inside of his consciousness. Ever since he failed to stop Haizaki from making unwanted advances on his mentor.
No matter how much Alex assured him that it wasn’t a big deal, no matter how easily she shrugged the incident off, there is still a festering guilt that eats him away at how useless he was in protecting the people he cared about. He couldn’t even protect Kagami as an “elder brother,” and he couldn’t even protect Alex as a “male” against another male. Still, no matter how much he chastises himself for having such immature thoughts, they’ve continued to overstay their welcome. What kind of traits does an “elder brother” or a capable “male” even entail?
Someone who wouldn’t be beaten and swatted like a fly…
Someone who wouldn’t just sit idly by when someone is being wronged…
Someone who wouldn’t hesitate to fight back to protect someone, even despite the consequences…
But if that’s the case… that’s just the definition of a person with human decency, isn’t it? Yes, perhaps that is why he still mulls over the encounter to this day. First he split off his brotherhood with Kagami over a one-track goal of an equal rivalry, and then he talked down to his mentor before his Winter Cup game that evening… In the end, he was absolutely pathetic, losing to Kagami’s inborn talent and getting beat down while watching his teacher getting harassed and choked. He easily accepted the fact that Kagami surpassed him with his basketball… The latter? Not so much.
He hasn’t really talked about his inner turmoil with anyone. Atsushi is someone who would not care too much about the complex emotions that he’s currently harboring, much less help deal with them. His other teammates are graduating and too occupied with final exams. He could speak with Alex, but by now, she’s moved back to America, and a part of him doesn’t want to call her out of his self-consciousness and humiliation. You?… He could confide his troubles with you… but a part of him whispers that you’d think less of him if you knew how incapable he really was.
After all, if he couldn’t even protect you as your boyfriend… no, he’d rather not go too far into that thought.
He smiles at the thought of you openly complimenting everything of him every time he subconsciously downplays himself, whether it was his basketball skills or his looks or even his habits. He always thought about how cute you were when you always made exaggerated hand movements to express your sincerity when you shower him with compliments, even if he always told you that you never had to go that far in saying such things. (You always insisted that they’re true and he was the best boyfriend anyone could ask for anyways.)
To someone like Himuro who had always hid their inferiority complex and other entangling insecurities behind a mask of a genial smile, your words always reassured him that he wasn’t treating you horribly or neglecting you or just being downright selfish. Just like what happened with Kagami. Just like what happened with Alex. He just hopes he doesn’t fuck this up somehow with you too.
He had always apologized for how he couldn’t spend as much time with you as he wanted to; basketball practice doesn’t spare anyone, after all. Still, you would smack his arm and push him to the gym as you scolded him to focus on what he loved to do best. Ah, he really didn’t deserve you… how you were so understanding he would never know.
But dusk fell at another early-February weekday; it was still quite chilly, cold enough to see his own puffs of warm exhales. His hands are cold, but the rest of his body burns from running laps and repeating shooting drills moments earlier. His ears grow hotter still when he remembers that you two had planned a simple outing near the coffee shop around the corner.
“Atsushi!” Himuro turns back to call out to the center player. “I need to be going now.”
“Hmph,” Murasakibara huffs in reply. “I was gonna ask you to take me to that new booth to try out new samples.”
“Sorry, sorry,” he laughs, noting the faint mist escaping his lips. “I’ll take you there next time, Atsushi. I have a date planned with (y/n)-san right now.”
“Tch, I’m leaving before you get too mushy on me. Buh-bye~” the giant drawls, casually strolling down the opposite path. Himuro manages to hold back a mild snort before he makes his way to head to the shop you two agreed to meet up at. Propping up his phone to look for your name to send a text, his eyes widen as he registers your name popping up on his screen as an incoming call. What a coincidence. You must’ve been anticipating this too. He smiles as he envisioned your anticipation at the table before he picks up on your call.
“Tatsuya?…” your voice rang.
“(y/n)-san,” he teased. “I didn’t think of you as an impatient person. Can’t wait to see me?”
“Yeah,” you said, but something about your voice was overly cheerful.
“Don’t worry,” Himuro hummed. “I’ll be there really soon. Give me 5 minutes.” He assumed it was just your excitement taking over that made you sound different than usual. He was about to hang up before you spoke again.
“A-Anywho!” you say. “How was practice, Tatsuya?”
“Hmm, the same it has always been,” he replies. “Just drills and laps before running a few practice games. Why do you ask?”
“No reason! C-Can’t I check up on you sometimes?”
“Of course you can, (y/n)-san,” he reassures you. There was a silence from your end, but he can hear how your breaths quickened over the line. He then registered some footsteps and maneuvers on the concrete and furrowed his brows in mild confusion. “… Hey, is there something wrong?”
“A-Ah yes! I’m at the laundromat right a-around the corner!” Your voice slightly peaks at the end. “Y-Yeah, yeah! I can’t wait to… s-see you soon! Uh, huh, m-mhm! You’re near right now, right? Yeah! You-you’re almost there!…” By now, your voice has taken on an almost hysterical tone.
“(y/n)?… (y/n)!” he half-shouts into his phone. “(y/n)! Can you still hear me! Where are you?!… Laundromat, right?” He breaks into a brisk run, ignoring the disapproving stares of other pedestrians on the sidewalk.
“I-I-I’m near the alley adjacent to the laundromat!… Yeah! C-Can’t wait to see you! O-Oh, don’t forget… um, to bring your wallet. S-Silly, you always forget to bring money, so… s-so…” You completely break your facade with a faint voice crack and a sniffle at the end. “Please… please hurry…”
Himuro pushes himself to a full sprint, completely disregarding etiquette as he pushes a few people to the side. His cold hands struggle to cease from shaking as he clutches his phone harder, as if he was holding onto you for dear life. Something terrible might happen to you, and if something happened to you on his watch…
Please, please, please, fucking god, please—please make it on time—
He grits his teeth and screams at his legs to move faster when he hears a stifled sob and a cry from your end.
“A-ah please…” you whisper. “They’re coming—they’re, Himuro, I don’t know where to ru—” All he heard after was a terrified scream before the line cut off.
Fuck, hurry up, hurry the fuck up—
———
Your phone was completely shattered on the floor, and you swore you had a few broken shards embedded in your skin somewhere from the harsh impact. That didn’t matter though. Not when there were two men grabbing you and trying to muffle your cries for help.
You try to use your elbow to hit their weakest parts, their joints, to loosen their grip. It worked, but as soon as you took a few steps, the other just tackled you to the floor to completely immobilize you.
You screamed, you kicked, you slapped, you elbowed, you punched, you flailed, but nothing seemed effective against two bodies, twice the size and twice the strength of your own.
You pitifully wail as a last desperate attempt, but in the quiet corner of the neighborhood, nobody seems to heed your cries for help. The sun had completely set by now, the year still experiencing the darkness of a winter night; by now, most are already at home relaxing. Their weight on your body was suffocating and you don’t know whether the pain was from the rough concrete, the shards, their weight, or all of the above.
You register them heaving you up with a firm hold on you still and shoving you to walk to the nearest vehicle they owned, and your legs are absolutely trembling from the shallow wounds you accumulated from the roughing and from the fear of the uncertainty of what would happen to you.
———
When Himuro lays eyes on your roughed-up state and the two men restraining you, all his fury and guilt and fear comes rushing back from his encounter with Haizaki.
He is not a rational man right now. He is not thinking of being the “bigger person.” He is not thinking about being a model athlete nor proper sportsmanship nor disqualification. There are no such thoughts of consequences, not when your life is being jeopardized.
He does not fucking care that he looks like the aggressor when he throws a left hook at the first man. He does not fucking care that the second man looks like his shoulder got dislocated. For once, he does not fucking care how his violent actions might cost him his prospective basketball career.
When he pulls your trembling body into his arms and feels how warm you are against his body in the night chills of an early-February weekday, he breathes out a long cloud of air, slowly calming himself as he hugs you more firmly against his side and pulls up to dial the local police.
He feels a slight sense of relief when he can feel you instinctively snuggling into his side for solace.
———
The local officers immediately got the gist once they saw the scene of two sprawled men, a terrified you, and a protective Himuro. After checking the nearby CTE cameras, their suspicions were confirmed. They still ask Himuro a few basic questions before they haul them off to the station; Himuro mostly answers for you.
Once the quiet fills the neighborhood again, you release a shuddering breath; Himuro knows because he can see your own mist from the corner of his eye. Still, you haven’t spoken a word since then.
“(y/n)…” he murmurs, bending down to your level to survey the scratches and bruises on your body before he hesitantly looks at your eyes. “Well… yell, scream, say something—anything… please.”
“… Can you… hug me again?”
“… Of course.”
And you both embrace tightly, Himuro tucking your head into his chest as you nuzzle as much as you could into his body.
“… Did they do anything to you?”
“They roughed me up and all, but… thank god you came…”
“They still put their hands on you—I couldn’t protect you—”
“… Why do you look so much more distraught than me, Tatsuya?”
“Because, I—I can’t do anything for the people I love and care about, and I… never mind, do you… want me to walk you home?”
“Wait, Tatsuya…” you whispered. “Let’s talk for a bit, please talk to me.”
“Our date—”
“Which we can always reschedule,” you said, bringing Himuro’s head down to nuzzle against your shoulders.
“If I was there faster—if I was there, this wouldn’t have…”
“Because you were there,” you corrected him. “I am able to experience another day, another tomorrow… especially by your side, where I’m happiest.”
“You must’ve been so scared—damn it, I—”
“Yeah… I’m still shaken up from that, to be honest,” you sighed. “I’m… just a bit paranoid about being alone in the dark now, but you saved me from the worst case scenario—Tatsuya, what’s wrong?! Are you crying—?”
“Sorry, sorry,” he said, quickly separating from you to rub his stray tears away before attempting to smile. “I should be the one comforting you, not the other way around. Please don’t mind me.”
“Oh silly,” you mused. “I’m dating you too. I want to be able to protect and care for you in my own way, too.”
“It’s getting dark, though. We should really start walking.”
“And we can talk while we do. I demand you to snuggle while we walk, too.”
“Haha… how could I ever say no to you, (y/n)?” He feels that gnawing sense of guilt and patheticness rearing up its head again, but when he looks at your earnest eyes even despite what transpired a few moments ago, the fact that you were safe and in his arms was more than enough to quell those feelings away.
In the lulls of a chilly early-February night, Himuro wraps a comforting arm over your figure as he draws a shuddering breath before he hesitantly begins. You look up at his face expectantly to show that you were giving him undivided attention as encouragement.
“It was during the Winter Cup a few months ago…”
———
End Note: being stalked by a dude in a CAR was NOT FUN. IT WAS NOT A FUN TIME !! 😭 unlike this y/n here, I had no one to “call” and pretend that I was meeting up with them because my walk route home comprised of only houses and streets, so that was something else OOF I was thinking of the worst case scenarios at the time;;;

Aomine x Reader
Word Count: 1410
Tumblr media
»»————— ☼ —————««
It’s hard to remember how it felt before…
Now I found the love of my life…
You hummed to accompany the soft bustling of the local market as you tried to rummage through the shelf for the perfect box of baking soda for tonight’s dinner. You were amused to see Aomine standing there awkwardly, sticking out like a sore thumb as he always did. It seems that nothing had really changed after the two of you graduated.
“Daiki,” you smile fondly. “You do know you’re blocking the aisle, right?”
“Sh-Shit.” After mumbling an apology to a curious passerby shopper, he turns to you again before he scratches his neck. “So… whatcha doin’?”
Passes, things get more comfortable…
Everything is going right…
“What do you think?” you stifle a chuckle. “I’m shopping here. My question is, what are you doing here? You’ve been standing there like a dunce.”
“Uh, well…” he haphazardly pulled out a wrinkled list from his usual navy puffer jacket to squint at the scribbles. “Shopping for groceries.”
“Let me guess, you were trying to look for banana milk here. But you do know that this is the baking aisle?”
“Wha—?! Tch, that’s not it, (y/n). I’m looking for—”
“Daiki! There you are!”
The two of you turned to an unfamiliar woman, bundled up in scarves and fleece while looking out of breath. You shot a curious look when Aomine approached her to flick her forehead before burying her head into his chest.
“Geez, how many times do I have to tell you to pay attention to where you’re going? How do you always manage to get separated from me?”
“O-Ow! You didn’t have to flick that hard…” she mumbles into his jacket. “I was trying to scour the store for banana milk because I felt bad for dragging you here with me…”
“Okay, okay, sheesh,” he sighs before flashing her a rare gentle smile, the one you used to have the privilege to lay eyes on so often long ago. “You can stop frowning now.”
And after all the obstacles,
It’s good to see you now with someone else…
She finally noticed you standing behind Aomine from a distance before she asked with sparkling eyes, “Daiki, who’s this?”
He widened his eyes in remembering that there was an audience in the first place, and he glanced back at you before turning to her.
“Oh, yeah… (y/n)’s a—”
“I’m an old friend.” You smoothly answer for him, and you hold up a friendly wave to introduce yourself. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, and you are…?”
“I’m his girlfriend,” she giggles shyly, tugging her hands behind her back with a faint blush. “I don’t know if we look like a proper couple, but anyways, I hope we get along together!” You turn back to the selection of baking sodas before plucking the “best” one and gingerly putting it into your shopping basket, hanging from your arm. You return your gaze back to her with a gentle smile.
“If you’re looking for banana milk,” you instruct, shooting a teasing look to Aomine on the side. “It’s located 4 aisles down, though it’s in a pretty obscured corner on the shelves. Not many people would find it at first glance.”
“I-I see!” she exclaims, frantically taking note on a scrap of paper.
“Are you two shopping for ingredients to make teriyaki burgers?”
“H-How’d you know?!”
“Damn, y’all talk so much, it’s annoying,” Aomine grumbles, clearly embarrassed about the ordeal. “I’m gonna be waiting over there.”
And it’s such a miracle that you and me are still good friends…
“Hey, wait—! Ugh, sheesh, I’m sorry about him… he can be a bit childish sometimes, and…” she trails off, thinking of ways to apologize for his roundabout behavior. You merely laugh before you wave a hand off to signal her to think nothing of it.
“I know.”
We have changed, but we’re still the same…
After all that we’ve been through…
“Then…” she gulps before hesitantly continuing, “would it be too much to ask for you to show us the way around the store? I mean, well, it’s our first time here in the area, and the store is so jam-packed…”
“I don’t mind. Shall we go? Aomine is never the patient one, after all.”
“Right?! Sometimes, he gets all pouty and grumbly like a kid!”
“Yes,” you laugh, walking with her side-by-side towards where Aomine was standing. “He can be difficult sometimes.”
“You two look like you’re having way too much fun,” Aomine comments, sighing before he straightens his posture from leaning against the fruit stand for a while. “How did you even get chummy with each other that quickly?”
“It’s all thanks to you Daiki,” you tease, purposely phrasing it in such a vague way to keep him guessing.
“O-Oh! You call him by his first name too! You did say you’ve known him for a long time, right? What was he even like back then?”
“Jeez…” Aomine roughly ruffles her hair to stop her from saying anything more. “(Y/n), don’t answer that.”
And now we’re hangin’ out with your new girlfriend…
So far from where we’ve been…
“Hmmm…” you ponder, remembering the times when you used to spend your free time on the rooftops with him… the times you both went to Maji Burger together… the times you were dragged to the street courts with him to watch his new tricks…
… the kisses you two used to share.
“He wasn’t… so different, actually,” you fondly recall. “Always impulsive, stubborn, childish… but he’s also dependable and straightforward.”
“Huh… come on, I wanted to hear stories of him crying like an actual baby,” she playfully whines, but then her eyes shine when she sees that sign for the aisle that the banana milk was in. “Stay right here! I’ll get the pack quick!” Once she disappears into the aisle, both of you stand there in comfortable silence before he speaks up.
“Didn’t expect to see you here.”
“Was that why you were staring at me earlier?” You tilted your head to wait for his response, and he turned his head to the side before looking at you again.
“… Yeah.”
“How have you been, Daiki?”
“Doin’ good, more or less. What are you even doing here?”
“My college is right around the corner, so I recently moved here to make things easier to access and travel. My internship won’t be lenient on me being late, even if I live far, so I had to make arrangements. You?”
“That’s good, right? Having an internship will get you work easier,” he replies. “But naw, I’m just here because she dragged me over. We live pretty far, but she wanted to make a stop here to make something for me before I go on a plane to America.”
“You’re going overseas?! C-Congratulations…! It’s about your dream to make it to the NBA, right?”
“It’s not a big deal, yet,” he mumbles. “I still gotta practice if I wanna get scouted.”
“Practice, huh…” you trail off, and silence envelops the two of you again.
And I’ll be happy for you,
If you can be happy for me.
“I’m back!~” Daiki’s girlfriend huffs out of the aisle with a triumphant grin. “I found the last one! Shall we move to find the rest of the ingredients?”
“Of course,” you cheerfully say, making a mental note for yourself to also grab the rest of the items on your own grocery list. “Let’s go.”
Before you finish your sentence, however, she’s already bouncing meters ahead, eagerly keeping her eyes peeled for any ingredients for the burgers, leaving you two behind again.
“She’s quite an energetic one, hm?”
“Yeah, yeah.” While he sounded quite flippant, his narrowed eyes showed nothing but affection for her.
“It’s really good to talk to you again,” you whisper. “It feels like everything is falling into place again, and everything would be okay.”
“I get ya,” he says, slightly stretching before nudging his chin ahead. “Come on, let’s get moving before she ends up getting lost again.”
“Right behind you.”
And just so naturally, both of you raised your fists simultaneously to give a resounding fist bump before you two started walking to catch up to her. No further words needed to be said when the two of you had always been so in tuned with each other.
I know we’re cool,
I know we’re cool…
… Me and you.

Meeting Imayoshi’s Sister
Hiii, it’s me again😂❤️ congrats on your growing audience 🥳 can you write something about meeting Imayoshi’s little sister for the first time?
HI AGAIN LOL i’d be happy to do another request ♥︎ thank you for supporting me! 🥺
[Headcanons]
you would probably never meet his family unless Imayoshi is 100% sure that the relationship will last for a long time
but once you’re at that stage…
when you first brought up about wanting to meet his family out of curiosity, Imayoshi was uncharacteristically hesitant… and somewhat bashful (if you REALLY squint though, you have to look really hard to see that)
but how can he say no to you when you keep bothering him with your puppy eyes?
you’re way too similar to his little sister and it kind of irks him
when you and the little Imayoshi meet, you could barely contain the squeals from how cute she was… and she was looking up at you with the biggest saucers
Imayoshi is standing off to the side scratching his head as he gently reprimands his sister to greet you properly
you noticed that his tone of voice is a lot more genuine, softer, and even more polite when he talks to his sister, and you were ready to make fun of him once the entire visit is over
your schemes melt away in your head when you hear her shyly talk in her Kansai accent
you.exe has stopped functioning
Imayoshi takes note of it to make fun of you later after this
but then he’s kind of wary when you shoot him an equally scheming stare (he won’t show it though)
Imayoshi is extremely protective of her, you noticed, even if he’s always strict on her mannerisms and proper behavior
he’ll never say it, but it’s just the way he hovers around her or is always scanning the area around once in a while
this was so cute and you’re literally ready to bust into laughs in how endearing this entire thing was
visits to his house become more frequent after
you always see Imayoshi tutor her on Math subjects (that’s what he’s strongest in academically, this is canon) and help her out on homework
you’re more of the person she goes to for life advice or to have you tell her some stories or some interesting “gossip” in your year
she also makes you follow along with her cute shenanigans like practicing as the opposite lead role for her to practice her own roles for school plays or asks some questions like:
“I’m just asking for a friend, but what if this boy was constantly looking at you…”
she won’t ask these questions if Imayoshi was around, not ever
she’d be kind of nosy and would try to prod into your relationship with Imayoshi because she’s so curious about what you see in her stiffy older brother 😭
his dad (parents) is canonically revealed to have introduced Imayoshi to basketball, so I feel like his little sister knows a good amount in how to play decently, especially when Imayoshi always forces her to play so he can test out his new strats
she probably isn’t that enthusiastic in basketball because of her brother, but she’s still very athletic nonetheless
she’ll outspeed you, period
she’ll give you a run for your money, especially when she grows more comfortable around you enough to show her teasing side (sounds familiar, right?) and takes your things and runs off
she teases out of affection while Imayoshi teases to annoy people out of satisfaction
you are then reminded that you’re technically dealing with TWO imayoshis from now on

hi!
not sure if i did this right, but—
im a capricorn infj! aries moon and pisces rising!. i’m a bisexual female. i have many personalities- i can adapt to any friend group, which is why it’s kinda hard to know my true self unless you observe me real well. i won’t talk to anyone unless they talk to me first. will def took years to earn my trust. im awfully introverted. i pretty much judge and observe everyone around me. i’m also pretty awkward.
i’m pretty short tempered and get mad/annoyed v easily. i despise hurting people whether it is verbally or physicaly even tho they’ve done rude things to me. but if they said shit abt my friend/family i would not hesitate to talk back and be rude to them.
if im comfortable with someone enough, i will try to understand them. i will be their shoulder to cry on and will comfort them. i’m also very loyal and trustworthy. and i can be an annoying extroverted asshole depends on their personality tho. my way of showing affection is physical!! i love hugs! im v bad at showing verbal affection.
i’m 5'0", shoulder length brown hair, with pretty much tired eyes.
i have many interest, but i get bored easily. so everytime i do something new and get bored of it i most likely would completly abandoned it. unless im really into it and passionate abt it, i might just be lazy and not do it but i will continue to learn it.
my hobbies currently and the things im into rn is astronomy and biology. and i also love learning about astrology! i also love playing basketball and do ballet . i also love horror movies/dark fiction! not a big fan of drama, romance, and adventure though. i also love movies/anime that will make me emotional since it’s so hard for me to cry. i feel like a robot tbh.
anyways that’s it! (≧▽≦). congrats on 500!!
Hi………… I apologize… so much—for making you wait half a year for this…. I really am😭 But congrats, you’re the last matchup that made it in the inbox, so I’m gonna HOP INTO IT! Thank you for your best wishes!
Best Matchup…
Takao Kazunari
Tumblr media
wow, you might think, Shoi is completely off her rocker for this matchup
LET ME EXPLAIN
capricorn suns get along pretty swell with scorpio suns, and while unfortunately idk the KNB guys’ moon and rising signs, I based this matchup more on everything you said after
I will get this out of the way, but you have some striking similarities (but also very distinct differences) with Midorima, and Takao already knows how he ticks and works
an INFJ with an ENTP though… yeah, and judging by the way you wrote your matchup, it won’t be as seamless and a smooth road to a relationship with him like other matchups with other KNB guys I’ve written about
but Takao knows, he just worms his way into your heart before you know it—that’s just how he operates
it just makes the effort all worth it
now so, I would think he would notice you at some point when he feels a burning stare at the back of his head many times, like… he doesn’t turn around but he just knows (Hawk-Eye things™)
“Hey, Shin-chan, do you think Kuroko by any off-chance transferred to Shutoku secretly, because—”
“Are you an idiot?”
“Alright, alright—sheeesh…” (cue him closing his eyes and sighing with his arms behind his head)
but before they make a turn at a corner, Takao uses that as an opportunity to glance where he feels the stare from, and he sees you, looking… pretty menacing, in his opinion
(“HOLY SHIT, WHY ARE THEY LOOKING AT ME??”)
and then cue him averting his glance away FAST
but you’re over here just people-watching, and you can’t help that Takao is often the guy who takes your attention when he’s in the same room—mostly because he’s the liveliest one there… and you’re just a curious gal
I would think Takao has many acquaintance groups (even though he’s depicted with Midorima alongside him all the time), and I think when he stops by your friend group one day to talk to an acquaintance of his (and also your friend), that’s when you guys first interact
“Yo! (y/n)-chan, right? You look familiar around here.”
“… Hi,” you turn to him to reply, with a slight nod to acknowledge his greeting and as a way to say “same to you.” “You’re Takao, right?”
“Whaaa, how’d you know?” he puts a hand to his chest in playful surprise and notices you staring at him for a bit before averting your gaze
“It’s hard not to know when Midorima-san yells your name around every day.”
“Oh yeah, Shin-chan, huh?”
he tries to make small talk with you, but noticing how you’re not exactly extroverted with him (but nonetheless try to reply to him anyways), he immediately backs off and mingles with the rest of your friend group, trying to give you space and whatnot
but he looks at you every few moments and notices the way you interact with others is wholly different than when you interacted with him
could it be you were simply more comfortable with them? is that your real personality? were you just shy with strangers in general? as he thinks about this more and more, he grows more curious
and just like he was curious about Midorima’s rituals of oha-asa, he was curious about how you worked
just like how you judged and observed people, Takao starts to take note of your presence and how you interact with others (Hawk-Eye things™)
you must be soft and just shy in general but can adapt into social groups to an extent, he reasons
until one day he heard your voice being the only loud thing in the hallways
curious, he scooched himself over to see a small crowd looking at you
“Don’t you ever fucking say that shit about my friends again, pepper-nose. I know that damn nose was from all the lies you’ve been spreading around buildings like it’s hot shit. It’s actually not cute. Maybe try a new hobby and an attitude overhaul if you ever want to get hitched.”
his jaw is DUSTY from being dropped on the FLOOR for a good 5 minutes
… ohhhkay… so you’re not as soft as he thought in his mind
but that was the first time you’ve said anything mean to anyone, regardless of how annoyed you might’ve looked… then again, the guy harassing you deserved it 100%
“… SOoooo, has ‘pepper-nose’ been bothering you again lately? Y’know, that was hella impressive and hilarious and all, but let me know if he tries anything with you again, think of it as a token of our friendship^^”
“You heard that???” you wish the ground just swallowed you up right there and then “And for the record, since when were we friends?”
“Aw, come on, can’t we?—” a ring interrupts him “Sorry, it’s Shin-chan, one second… hello? Wha—your oha-asa says you need a what now? A rice cooker for cancer’s luck? Yeah, no, forget it—get it yourself! You have it in your own kitchen!” and he promptly ends the call with an irk mark
“Did you say oha-asa?” you asked, waiting for Takao to finish his call
“Yeahhhh, my buddy has a strange thing with horoscopes and revolves his life around it.”
and for the first time, he can see a bit of a sparkle in your otherwise tired eyes
“What do you know about it?”
and you and Takao spent the next few hours talking about astrology, while Takao had been relying on Shin-chan’s oddities and knowledge as a crutch for the conversations (and he didn’t wanna mess this convo up because that would mean losing his shot of being friends with you)
and he notices you’re not as awkward in this convo
contrary to popular belief, Takao is quite adept in toning down or matching his energy with different types of people… it’s just that Midorima was always someone that had buttons waiting to be pushed
it’s quite canon that he gets along with most people
he’s used to short-tempered people like Midorima and Miyaji, so when he can sense that you’re being annoyed by him, he backs off with no problem… if something else is causing you to be mad, then he’ll help you work out the problem (if you allow him, of course)
Takao is not the person to fall in love so easily either, not because of trust issues, but because he’s a very practical person who wants to be ABSOLUTELY sure the person is going to be in his life long-term
you guys would have a platonic/acquaintance relationship for YEARS before anything remotely romantic would happen between the two of you
still, Takao would be the first to fall for you like the clown that he is
once you’re comfortable around him, you guys would hang out a lot together, especially playing basketball in good fun
“You… like biology? Like, unironically like it?”
“Yeah.”
cue Takao cursing in his mind as he crawls back to Midorima to get a crash course on biology
Midorima is hella confused why Takao gained a sudden genuine interest in astrology and biology and keeps coming to ask him about everything regarding those two topics
when he realizes you’re someone who can get bored/abandon interests despite having many said interests, Takao realizes you’re a lot more fun to hang around than Midorima and gets excited at the thought of showing you THE ENTIRE WORLDaround Tokyo, and he knows you wouldn’t be AS grumpy about trying new things
don’t like the interest? that’s totally A-Ok with him, you guys can always explore something else
don’t like dealing with people? social battery drained? say less, Takao is there to take over for you
when Shutoku loses to either Seirin, Rakuzan, or Kaijo in the future (again, mayhaps), you’d be there to shoulder his tears
when you’re finally near 100% comfortable with him, it’s like you suddenly become a complete 180 on him, being a toned down-Kise but only for him (he feels so special, ngl, even if it may be only a platonic thing)
you attend his basketball games, and he attends your ballet recitals/showcases with such admiration
when you guys eventually date, he EATS UP THE HUGS—GIVE HIM HUGS, HE LOVES THEM
it’s fine if you can’t verbally give affection, he’s used to it and doesn’t mind it at all (exhibit A: Midorima; exhibit B: the entire Shutoku team)
again, he just knows (Hawk-Eye things™)
I don’t think he’s particularly picky about genres to read/watch; he’ll be mostly happy with whatever you pick and recommend
horror stuff freaks him out a bit though
also cries watching emotional stuff with you, but tries to laugh it off when the end credits roll to be cool (but he’s not fooling anyone)
ain’t no way you’re gonna be a robot on his end; he’s gonna vow to at least make you laugh as much as he can to disprove that
Runner-Up Matchup!
Kuroko Tetsuya
Tumblr media
you guys are kindred spirits! INFJ duo
you guys would fall in love much more easily since you guys have such similar vibes
you guys know how to give each other space and quiet (Takao cannot always give quiet even if he tried his damn hardest)
you guys would easily people-watch together and then make comments about your observations
and when you’re being irritated, Kuroko is the calming water that flows into your mind and soul
he would very much indulge in your hobbies, listening attentively to all your preferred genres and renting out movies and buying books for you that would please you
the only (but crucial) reason why I didn’t put him as top is because: you’re someone who has varying interests with a very low interest attention-span, and Kuroko is someone with stable hobbies and not much of a FREQUENT experimentalist like you are (Kise would be the crazy jack-of-all-trades type of guy)
after all, Kuroko’s whole thing about his basketball style is how extremely specialized he is in his skillset
he’s a pretty mellow guy who would prefer stability in his life
he doesn’t mind the hustle and bustle and would even like it, I would say, but the only thing you guys have in common are your MBTIs and a few hobbies
but I would think your guys’ outlooks on life and priorities in general are pretty different
maybe if you guys had a serious talk about what you guys want in the relationship and how to approach it, it would FLOURISH IMMENSELY
Kuroko wouldn’t be as receptive to physical touch (i.e. hugs) like Takao, but he would definitely accept your touch
I think he would be touchier away from public view
he would probably make at least ONE remark and/or joke/tease that you have similar hair to his basketball coach
