{TBB} What Kind Of Shoes Does A Frog Wear?
Hey guys! Kris here with the second/third installment of @smols-n-tols “Thinking ‘Bout Boys”, with Youngmin’s first route fic! Hope you enjoy!!
Find the first part here
After a while, the vibrating in your pocket became too much to handle, you swiftly whipped out your phone.  Tearing your eyes from the beautiful voice in the cafe, you quickly scanned and responded to the texts.
[MESSAGE]
{gayy}  Hey!  Where are you???
{gayy}  You said you’d be here!!
{you}  ??????
{gayy}  ??????  MINKI’S PARTY, (Y/N)
{you}  OH SHIT.
{you}  I’LL BE RIGHT THERE FUCK
[END]
You slipped your phone back into your pocket, almost sprinting in the direction you know well as the way to Choi Minki’s house.
You weren’t even three blocks away before you could hear the music blaring.  The multicoloured lights almost blinding as you quickly stepped closer, and you could see multiple people outside, gathered around with a large container overflowing with what seemed to be fireworks.  What the hell were they doing with fireworks?  It was August!
You slipped between half-drunk teens and staggering young adults until you finally reached the front door, which was wide open.  The stench of alcohol filtering through the threshold and you were beginning to think you might get sick if you even step near another drink.  Your friend, thankfully, had similar plans.  You found her getting felt up by an obviously drunk upperclassman, but as soon as she saw you, she immediately pushed him off, fast-walking to you as if she’d been trying to get away from him for hours.
“Thank GOD YOU MADE IT,” she yelled, wrapping her arms around your neck as you hugged her back, her fake sobbing almost louder than the music.  You chuckled, squeezing her a little before pulling back, subtly adjusting your shirt so it covered a couple of the lower hickies you’d received earlier.
“Yeah, I know I forgot about it because I was kinda… Ya’ know?”  You say, shrugging your shoulders with a less-than-innocent facial expression.  She raised her eyebrows at you, giving you a knowing smirk.  It dropped, however when a local frat boy bumped into you, spilling a bit of the alcohol from his cup onto your shirt.  You and your friend both gasped, but while you ran to the kitchen to grab a couple of paper towels to dab at the staining alcohol, your friend stayed back to yell at the older male; she spilled curse words so bad even Satan would have felt bad for the guy.
‘This isn’t working…’  You groaned, throwing the paper towels away and peeking through the crowd, attempting to find Minki. ‘Maybe he’s outside?’
You once again struggled to get passed the drunk teens, soft excuse me’s leaving your lips as you pushed past them to the front of the crowd, where you conveniently found the lanky host.
“Minki!” You yelled, trying to let him hear you over the loud cheers and shrieking fireworks.  “Hey, I need to ask you something!”
Finally, after yelling at him for a couple of seconds, you reached out and lightly grabbed his arm.  He jumped, turning around to face you as his eyes lost the shock you seemed to have caused.
“Wow, look at you!  I didn’t think you’d make it!”  He yelled, a large grin plastered on his face.  “Need something?”
You nodded, coughing slightly before telling him about the situation.
“Ahh, sorry about that!  Hyunbin can be a bit of a klutz.  Youngmin,” he tapped the guy crouched next to him, lighting the next firework, on the shoulder.  “Can you take (Y/N) here up to my room and get them another shirt?”
The other male, Youngmin, nodded, gesturing for you to follow him as he led you through the growing crowd.  You were falling behind, getting pushed apart in the large group. If it weren’t for his height and abnormal hair colour, you would have lost him completely, but he seemed to notice your slight absence and turned around, gripping the hand you were using to push your way through the crowd, and pulled you out of the cluster of human bodies.  You thanked him quietly, and he continued to hold your hand as he led you inside.
You, however, didn’t miss the series of catcalls you assumed were directed at the both of you.
When you got inside Youngmin stopped walking and turned to you, the hand that wasn’t holding yours, reaching up to rub the back of his neck.  You looked at him quizzically while he just looked around the almost empty house for a couple seconds.
“Why did we stop?” You asked, furrowing your eyebrows in confusion as he finally locked eyes with you.
“What’s blue and smells like green paint?”  He asked, his face snowing no signs of joking around.  You blinked at him, unsure of what to say.  What did paint smell like again?  Didn’t all paint smell the same?  You shrugged, and noticed the small smile that he gave as he answered the riddle.
“Blue paint.” He spoke, giggles practically bursting from his lips as his laugh sounded throughout the house.  It seemed like it was the only thing you could hear.  Not the fireworks or screaming and cheering of the hundreds of people outside, but his laugh.  You giggled, not at the joke, but at how much he was laughing at the joke.  He was obviously a little drunk, you doubted he would laugh this hard sober, but his giggles were just infectious.
He seemed to be running out of constant giggles, them turning more periodic, as if recalling the joke.  He had let go of your hand while laughing, and instead just started walking up the stairs to Minki’s room, the only noises were the giggles coming from his mouth.
“I have another one,” he said, you finally entering Minki’s bedroom, walking over to his friend’s closet as you sat on the bed.
“Shoot.”  You said, sitting cross-legged on the bed.  That seemed to get a slight kick out of him, for reasons you aren’t sure, as he glanced at you and giggled.
“Why wasn’t Van Gogh a musician?”
“I don’t know, Youngmin, why wasn’t Van Gogh a musician?”
Youngmin snickered, pulling a shirt off the hanger and turning towards you.
“Because he didn’t have an ear for music!”
This triggered another onslaught of laughter from the two of you.  You both sat on Minki’s bed, telling jokes to one another and laughing about them as if you were high as all hell.  You eventually found the alcohol on your shirt to be too uncomfortable, and told him to wait there while you went to change in the bathroom.
When you returned, Youngmin was almost as red as his hair.
“Holy shit are you-” His laughter interrupted you, and he said he was, in fact, okay.
“I-” he giggles, “I came up with another one.”
You rolled your eyes, but you couldn’t deny you were curious.  He patted your previous spot next to him and you took the cue to sit.
“What kind of shoes does a frog wear?”  He leaned closer, lips almost touching your ear as he whispered the answer.
    “Open-toad shoes.”
Youngmin immediately passes out next to you, and you hear a knock on the door.
Which one do you choose?
>{get walked in on} (Minki, written by Justine)
>{leave and go back to the party} (Donghan, written by Peachi)

Green screening - Example 1
youtube
What works well
What I like about this video is the background’s authenticity as well as the adjustments made to make it as close to reality as possible.
What does not work well + How it could have been done better
What I don’t like much is that there are still some key details that need to be adjusted, such as the leaves of the tree moving (as well as its shadows), the sun flare that has to change constantly and not stay the same, and also the water of the swimming pool that seems too much “still” in my opinion.
WHAT I HAVE LEARNED
The lesson this video taught me is that all layers have to coincide, otherwise it won’t convey reality.

Return to Isla Sorna: A Jurassic World Short Fan Film!
I recently had the chance to speak with Justin van Tol and Jim Termeulen, director and actor from the upcoming Jurassic World short fan film, Return to Isla Sorna. Following in the footsteps of Jurassic World, Return to Isla Sorna looks to bridge the gap between Jurassic World and the upcoming 2018 sequel - with potential sinister plotlines. Check out the synopsis from Van Tol Visuals:
"After the Jurassic World incident, InGen's research team goes to Isla Sorna (Site B) for their yearly examination of the animals. They are about to find out this abandoned island was left behind with some unsolved mysteries… "
As production ramps up for the Jurassic World sequel, directed by J.A. Bayona, Van Tol Visuals is pulling from the news and rumors to build this short film. After much speculation based off interviews from Colin Trevorrow & J.A. Bayona, many get the feeling we are in for a darker sequel to Jurassic World - Van Tol Visuals is banking on that. Their story attempts to fill the gaps on Isla Sorna, an island much left in the dark, as the fans of the franchise can attest. We have seen two movies on the island, but there is certainly less canon information regarding Isla Sorna than there is for Isla Nublar. This fan film will be a fun way to bridge that gap with you own "head-canon".
This project is the result of four people working very hard to produce great results. after viewing the trailer and promotional imagery, you'd expect a bigger team, filled with people full of experience; it's the opposite in fact, in the very best way possible. Much can be said about the results of high quality cameras and fancy software, but equipment and high budgets are not indicative of quality. For Justin, the director, a Canon 60D and Adobe After Effects does the trick. As Justin said on Episode 83 of the podcast - "We really wanted to create the project with everything we already had". A green screen, camera lens, and tripod is all it took to build a world that resembled Isla Sorna... not to mention all the hours of learning and honing of editing skills.
When you have no budget for a project, it's all about being crafty. Van Tol Visuals have done their homework when it comes to visual effects and digitally creating scenes based off nothing. Well, not nothing - *imagination. Aside from years of learning effects techniques, Justin, Jim and the crew decided to get creative. In their case, it's all about long days, being motivated, and taking on multiple roles. At this point,  it's all about their admiration for the film series and the goals they have set. After talking with them on the podcast, it's clear that there is almost no separation of roles between the crew. It's about working together in a creative environment to accomplish something the fans of Jurassic Park & Jurassic World will enjoy.
"It's not always about the equipment. I think it's really more about getting creative and try to figure out a way to create something you have in mind..."  -- Justin van Tol
Return to Isla Sorna is set to debut February 17th, 2017. We will keep you in the loop on all the updates and be sure to talk about the finished product on a future episode!
