REVIEW: Jurassic World Escape Room Experience at Universal Orlando Resort | by Muzzammil Shaik
The Jurassic World Escape Room in Universal's Great Movie-Escape is one of two new escape room experiences to the Universal Orlando Resort that opened in December 2022. Located in CityWalk, it is a multi-sensory puzzle-based quest that gives guests the role as geneticists at the Jurassic World theme park, timed around the events of the 2015 film. This review will consist of a non-spoiler portion where I give my general overview on the experience and recommendations for the escape room as well as a spoiler-review that consists of the overview around each puzzle and story elements that tie into the larger Jurassic lore at hand.
Non-Spoiler Review
Making the Reservation/Check-In
Signing up for the escape room was relatively straight-forward as you navigate to the elaborate Universal Great Movie Escape entrance located right next to the Antojito's restaurant in CityWalk. As soon as you enter, there is a check-in right at the end of the hall where you can make your reservations to either the Jurassic World or Back to the Future Escape Room. The Back to the Future escape room is on the first floor, whereas the Jurassic World escape room is just upstairs.
Prices can range anywhere from an average of $40 to $60 per person for a single escape room experience and Annual Passholders can get a discount when you purchase in person (at the time of writing this article). What was recommended as least expensive to us was the matinee which is any time before 6 PM on weekdays. Also, to note, if you are planning to attend both escape room experiences, they last about an hour each, so it is at your discretion if you want to do them back-to-back or spread it out. After you decide,  each member of your party will be handed a ticket that details the experience and time on the back.
On the day of the experience, my family and I went to the check-in desk and they recommend you be there within 15 minutes of the escape room which would be safe to assume that it is to ensure they run on schedule. At check-in,  we are guided to a space with TV monitors showing the safety video. After that is completed, we go upstairs to another attendant at the entrance of the Jurassic World Escape. They will scan your tickets and confirm your names on the reservation and let you know about standard safety and security measures as with many theme park attractions.
The Experience
The Escape Room experience involves a series of rooms with various puzzles themed to technical aspects you may find throughout the Jurassic World theme park. Some involve matching, sequencing, and using context clues from previous stages. You also get a score at the end of the escape based on four tiers where you can get a score of up to 20 as lead geneticist. Ultimately, the objects that are key to solving the puzzles are spaced out in the room well enough that you will need at least 3 people in your party to somewhat beat the clock (although if you have less than 6 people, there may be additional guests in your experience time).
The difficulty of each puzzle, in my opinion, gets progressively challenging not so much that they are hard to solve, but the context clues around the room can leave you scrambling for what seems like a good amount of time gone by. But often times, a lead geneticist from Dr. Wu's lab will give you some hints along the way. Also, not to worry, you will not be trapped on Isla Nublar. Because the rooms are timed, there will be a sort of override where the lead geneticist announces that you can essentially proceed to the next room.
Some additional highlights to this experience were that the attention to detail with the aesthetic of the Jurassic World film was top notch. It shows promise that if a full Jurassic World land were to ever be built, this is a step in the right direction, similar to the details in the VelociCoaster attraction in Universal's Islands of Adventure. Tying into the multi-sensory aspect, the sights, sounds, and even smells are authentic to what you would experience in each room, whether that be a lab or in the jungles of Isla Nublar.
Although there were some increasingly challenging puzzles towards the end, we made it out and survived off the island. After we left the experience, another attendant is present at the exit to tell us our score and we got a 15, which is pretty average and apparently, the highest any party has gotten is 18 out of 20!
The attendant also gets feedback because it's clear that this a brand new experience to Universal Orlando Resort and anybody who regularly receives surveys from them know that they are constantly working on ways to improve their experiences for guests. After that, the attendant offers to take a picture and the journey is over.
Overall, a must-do experience for Jurassic and Escape Room enthusiasts of all ages and it takes a team and effective communication to escape Jurassic World!
Onto the spoilers next…
SPOILER Review
If you're still here, congrats on surviving the Non-Spoiler Review! In this portion, I break down each puzzle based on the story elements, so I will leave at least some surprises to be desired when you finish reading this.
NOW ON WITH THE TOUR!
Introductory Room:
After your party is checked in at the entrance of the Jurassic World Escape, you enter an enclosed corridor that smells very similar to a dinosaur paddock. Don't ask me how I know that, it just does.
Moving on, we are introduced to a geneticist, named Riley Matthews, and AIS, an Artificial Intelligence System (pronounced ACE) and we are recruited to the Hammond Creation Lab's Secret Offsite Research and Development Center. They will be our guide through the screens and overheard speakers throughout each room and will be reporting to Dr. Henry Wu about our progress.
Riley briefly mentions that many of the assets are reaching 100% genetic accuracy and that they are moving into genetically modified hybrids, which we know where that ends up. And so, we are directed to the first puzzle room, which is the genetics lab.
Puzzle 1 - Genetics Lab
This room tests your general biology skills as you match the sequences in the genetic code that make up the Indominus Rex, the new attraction to Jurassic World. Your team is guided to a workstation and will be using a group of sliders to reveal small sequences on two monitors. On one side it is the Indominus, the other is a species that makes up the hybrid.
What really stood out to me is that despite it being known for a while that Carnotaurus, Giganotosaurus, and Therizinosaurus were among the species that made up the Indominus, they were not in the 2015 film. So, Jurassic fans will be reassured that the experience acknowledges some aspects of Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom (2018) and Jurassic World Dominion (2022).
After matching a bunch of sequences, one of the members in your party will need to scan their hand on the touch pad leading to the next puzzle room, Nutrient Distribution.
Puzzle 2 - Nutrient Distribution
Moving into this next room, we are shown a small enclosure similar to what we have seen in Jurassic World and even the first Jurassic Park in the prologue sequence. In here, we are introduced to a Velociraptor from the IBRIS Project, named Bravo.
We are tasked to provide the necessary nutrient mixtures that will be key to keep Bravo satiated. When you look around the room, you will find canisters detailing how to make each mixture and that will be loaded into the panel facing Bravo. Once all mixtures are created there is an additional catch- you have to provide Bravo with the mixtures in the right order. And there are multiple levels of mixtures you will create as you race against the clock to satisfy this restless raptor.
What really adds to the tension of the puzzle is that you see the cage rattling and the roaring gets progressively louder as we scour around the room looking for each of these canisters. Once the room is completed, it seems like all has ended well. But then, the power starts fluctuating and then you hear a familiar ominous theme from Michael Giacchino's score. The Indominus Rex has escaped and Riley is informed by Dr. Wu that we need to go to the Cold Storage Area for our next puzzle.
Puzzle 3 - Cold Storage Area
This puzzle room is very similar to what we have seen in the Jurassic World film and what we've seen with Dennis Nedry's attempted hijinks in Jurassic Park.
We are presented with a frosted-over storage compartment of dinosaur and prehistoric reptilian embryos. However, the challenge is that we can't see them until we recharge all the canisters facing a panel with a keypad. To add to the stakes, the Indominus rex crashed into an essential power grid that threatens the viability of these embryos. Thus, Riley and Dr. Wu have assigned us to recharge all the canisters and enter the embryo code corresponding with the animals they wish to save for future sequencing.
The first one they ask for, which blew my mind is Quetzalcoatlus! This means, Henry Wu has been keeping some BIG secrets since before the events of the Isla Nublar Incident. Other animals we were assigned and also saw in the storage of embryo vials, included Dilophosaurus, Spinosaurus, Giganotosaurus, Dimetrodon, Suchomimus, Ankylosaurus, and basically every prehistoric creature we have ever seen in the films. If this doesn't scream, I want a prequel show/film with B.D. Wong, I don't know what else…
After completing this challenge, Riley and AIS let us know that the embryos have been saved. But, they warn us about more power failures, which gives Bravo, from the previous room, free rein to leave her enclosure.
That's when they speak too soon and the power temporarily goes out. You hear the snarling of a velociraptor from the Nutrient Distribution Room. Bravo's silhouette is shown at the door and she tries to open it, but is unsuccessful. Then, being the cunning velociraptor she is, Bravo escapes in the vents above us as we hear the sounds moving around and away…
AIS is still down, but Riley leads us into the power station that the Indominus bumped into.
Puzzle 4 - Power Station
This room has a bit of an outdoorsy atmosphere, with vibes similar to control rooms seen in Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom with Claire and Franklin. In this puzzle, Riley informs us that because the power is down, we will need to manually bring it back up.
This one requires all hands on deck, as one person needs to manually power the overhead lights or we are completely in the dark, another looking at the manual of where certain number switches are, and one more person changing the configuration of those switches based on a blueprint just above.
I thought this was a fun challenge as we each had to communicate with each other on following the blueprint in the time allotted. Once it was over, the power was restored just enough for us to escape into the Research and Development Lab's Control Room.
Puzzle 5 - Control Room
This is more of an abbreviated version of the control room we are familiar with in the 2015 film, but it contains all the key elements with multiple control panels for all users to manipulate as well as huge monitors on the walls showing various statistics around the island.
Essentially, AIS is rebooting and there are many areas of the park where the security systems are still offline. Our task is to use the control panels to find statistics to answer questions provided on these panels. This means that you will see multiple occurrences of a location that Riley wants you to solve.
This puzzle was a bit difficult because we could have benefited from additional members in our party and there are six consoles. So, this was one was definitely overridden for us. In terms of the story elements, the puzzle room ends with AIS booting back up and bringing the rest of the security systems online and Riley getting us ready to go to the Monorail Service Station.
But…
A security feed shows the Indominus has broken into the aviary and the pterosaurs have escaped. We hear screeches in the ceiling as the light bulbs break one by one until it seems they have flown away. Riley then lets us know the coast is clear and we are on our way to the Service Station.
Puzzle 6 - Monorail Service Station
I loved the atmosphere in this puzzle because the sights and smells made you feel you were on the ground in Isla Nublar and the Indominus is not far away. The foliage is rustling and you hear quite a bit of roaring and stomping.
Riley then informs you that the door to the monorail station was damaged and we need to follow the pipes to find the correct configurations of switches that will open the door. The stakes are continually added with the Indominus on the hunt, but this puzzle in my opinion is fun callback to Ellie Sattler following the pipes in Jurassic Park.
After opening the door, Riley tells us to proceed to the next puzzle in the Monorail Station Walkway.
Puzzle 7 - Monorail Station Walkway
This puzzle left us all confused, to be honest, because all the clues that Riley gave were to use the map of Isla Nublar on the Walkway wall to enter the numbers on a pin pad of the closest stations to us for the monorail to come get us. The Indominus also continued to get louder, which made it very clear of our impending doom.
Fortunately, AIS finally overrides the puzzle after we pass the time allotted and we are then directed to the loading platform, which looks like a maintenance shed.
Finale - Loading Platform/Monorail
AIS tells us to wait for the Service Monorail and the Indominus is still on our tails. The stomping becomes progressively louder and then the window in front of us blasts open to show the eye of the Indominus staring us down. Promptly after, the door to the monorail opens and we board for our journey off the island.
On the monorail, we see a monitor with Riley speaking to us from somewhere outdoors. She tells us that the authorities deem Jurassic World to be long gone, but thanks to us we saved a lot of people and research for Dr. Wu.  She lets us know that he is building a team to continue his research, which implies his work in the future films.
Thus, the doors off the monorail open and we meet the attendant to debrief and take pics with the Indominus banner.
Concluding Thoughts
Overall, the Jurassic World Escape Room is a welcome addition to the Universal Orlando Resort and these adventures are really unique because they are story-driven as with many of the attractions in their theme parks. As a fan of the Jurassic Franchise, it was fun to be more involved in the high-stakes nature of the 2015 film. Many other experiences by Universal like the Jurassic World Exhibition and Jurassic World Live Tour give a nice stand-by experience, but this gave me and my family the closest experience to living the events of the movie.
Some areas that I think could be improved are relatively minor as I am sure Universal wants to cycle in other stories in the long run. For instance, I would like to have seen a brief video or audio of Dr. Wu as it has been known for Back to the Future that they had Christopher Lloyd return. I will not spoil that attraction, but the involvement could be done in the same way for BD Wong. Additionally, I thought some areas could use small animatronics such as the pterosaurs in the ceiling or even see the claws of the Indominus at the Service Station.
In terms of the larger Jurassic lore at hand, I thought this experience paid homage to the future and the history of the franchise in showing that embryos for animals we see in Fallen Kingdom and Dominion are saved. This also means that Dr. Wu has a deeper story to tell and makes me wish that Universal explores the prequel route even if it is on streaming services.
For value, I do recommend the weekdays due to the price ranges fluctuating. It is also best to note that those change based on peak days at the resort. But, I believe the attention to detail is on par with the latest attractions they have in the theme parks. The repeatability is also strong for those who want to acquire a top score of 20 as lead geneticist.
Finally, the Jurassic World Escape Room Experience, in my opinion, is a strong entry in the supplementary material to the franchise that is fun for the whole family and friends.

A New Jurassic World Film Is Coming | Jurassic Park 7
According to reputable source The Hollywood Reporter, Jurassic Park 7 is within touching distance – with veteran writer David Koepp having already penned a script for the next outing in the Jurassic Park universe.
The article suggests that Universal may be looking to as early as 2025 for a release of the next instalment – although it is important to note that a director has not yet been found for the film. It does appear that both Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley will return, however – with Stephen Spielberg once again acting as executive producer through Amblin Entertainment.
It is interesting to hear discussion of a sequel to Jurassic World Dominion given that all recent discussion around the cinematic future of the franchise has been relatively stagnant up until this point. Whilst it is true that Jurassic World Chaos Theory and Jurassic Park Survival are around the corner, this is the first concrete discussion we have seen about a sequel to the films.
The prospect of David Koepp writing the film is incredibly exciting – and we’re sure most Jurassic fans would agree that they would love to see another instalment of the franchise guided by his storytelling skill! 1993’s Jurassic Park earned its place in cinema history due in no small part to its fantastic writing and world building.
It’s clear that Koepp knows how to translate Crichton’s signature thriller-style writing to the screen, so the potential that would bring to a post-Dominion story is very compelling.
Whilst there is no indication of the direction of the story which the sequel will tell, it is fair to say that there are a few interesting directions which Koepp could choose to explore. A story which delves deeper into the wider ramifications of dinosaurs in the wild, or perhaps explore more of the murky dino trafficking world which Dominion introduced us to certainly has potential.
For now, it’s safe to say that we are excited to see more happening with this franchise, and will be watching excitedly to see the next steps Universal decide to make with this behemoth of a franchise.
Are you excited that David Koepp may be returning to the franchise? Let us know your thoughts below, and stay tuned to the Jurassic Park Podcast for all the latest news!

Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters – Grounded Storytelling Done Well
(This article has been written after the debut of Episode 6 of Monarch: Legacy of Monsters has debuted, titled ‘The Way Out’. This article contains minor spoilers for all the episodes up until this point)
Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters is a show which I have been feverishly excited for since it was first announced as an upcoming project set to debut on Apple TV. As a young boy, I had always enjoyed shows which brought secret organisations to the forefront in fantastic worlds – loving both Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and the presence of U.N.I.T throughout Doctor Who.
The announcement of this show had me excited for a deep dive into the shady entity known as MONARCH from the films. Would this series expand our understanding of the secret organisation? Would we see more of the Outposts and facilities hinted at in 2014’s Godzilla, and the subsequent Godzilla: King of The Monsters?
Whilst this show has done a fantastic job of exploring who MONARCH are within this universe, it has done something better in my opinion. It has presented us with a grounded, character-driven story within this universe – something I want to reflect on in this piece.
Devastating world events are nothing new. Unfortunately, the world we live in is often shook by devastating events. In films and other creative media, we often see large, grandiose set-pieces which portray this destruction and devastation – but we scarcely ever see the fallout of that havoc. This is where Monarch: Legacy Of Monsters shines.
This series has done a fantastic job of showing us how this world has changed – with small details like posters, graphics and advertisements tying directly into the proliferation of Titans across the Earth, to larger-scale additions like the missile launchers found in Tokyo in Episode 1, or the FEMA resettlement camp and subsequent quarantine area we see in Episode 5.
Not only do these visuals have striking resemblances with our understanding of the real world – the latter particularly provoking images of the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina – but they help to give us, as the audience, a tangible sense of how Titans have changed what the everyday looks like within this world. This lays the foundations for the growth of both MONARCH activity and international collaboration to counter the Titans seen in KOTM.
Alongside this enriching and immersive worldbuilding, we also have deep, emotive stories which directly intertwine the characters who are the vessel for these stories with the events and incidents which have shaped the world in which they inhabit.
Seeing direct, first-person trauma which characters have experienced as a direct result of the events we see on the big screen in the Monsterverse cinematic universe really helps to add emotional weight to these films, and allows much greater insight into how substantial the events we see unfolding on the big screen are.
I have loved seeing how these events have informed so many people’s lives in different ways – leading to our characters making difficult and sometimes dangerous decisions based on their own experiences. This is emotive storytelling done well, and I love how it has become a vessel through which we can explore the real impact that battles of titanic proportions have.
All this is to say – Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is grounded storytelling done well. I love the emotional weight we feel across this story so far, and also have enjoyed seeing how the world has been changed by the G-Day forever. This makes the universe feel real and lived in, and adds so much more depth to the events we see unfolding in Gareth Edward’s film.
Don’t get me wrong – this show IS delivering more about MONARCH. We are beginning to peel back the layers of this mysterious organisation in an exciting narrative which still leaves me with more questions than answers, but for me, the true strength of this series comes in how it creates a world which feels irreversibly changed by Titans.
I hope you have enjoyed this article on a slightly different topic here on The Jurassic Park Podcast. Make sure to check out Brad and I breaking this series down each week on the YouTube channel, and stay tuned for more content in the future!

Jurassic World Evolution 2 Cretaceous Predator Pack Arrives
The brand-new Jurassic World Evolution 2 Cretaceous Predator pack has arrived - and we’ve had the opportunity to get hands on with the new DLC today courtesy of the team at Frontier Developments!
The new DLC introduces four creatures - the Tarbosaurus from Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous Hidden Adventure, alongside the Concavenator, Gigantoraptor and Utahraptor. As the name suggests, these are all carnivores from the Cretaceous period of Earth’s prehistoric past.
Having spent some time playing with the pack today, I really love the new dinosaurs which have been added to the game. Utahraptor and Gigantoraptor are personal highlights as I love the physics present for feathers on dinosaurs within JWE2 - and particularly, how the light in different sandboxes really pops on these animals.
I also love the Tarbosaurus for it’s unique behaviours and the cool skin reminiscent of how the animal appears in Camp Cretaceous, and have to admit that the Concavenator is a welcome inclusion capturing the iconic hump-back aesthetic of the Spanish dinosaur which we have all wanted added for some time.
I haven’t had the opportunity to hatch the brand-new dinosaur skins present in the game yet, but I have had the opportunity to play around with the brand new inclusions to Capture Mode as you will see throughout this article and am really excited about the possibility of changing weather within the camera. Being able to change it not just for stills, but for video footage adds so much possibility.
I also dabbled a little with the new scenery elements and whilst these aren’t in my screenshots, there are some decent variations of benches and bins, alongside some new fountains and a handful of new banners. They are nice inclusions which add even more possibility to our parks, so I am sure they will be popular with people who enjoy placing huge levels of details into their builds.
Huge thanks to the team at Frontier for sending over a code to allow me to check out this pack. You can check out my cinematic video on it, using video from Daryl Leigh Lynn, below:

Jurassic World Evolution 2 Adds Tarbosaurus, Concavenator & More!
There have been rumours afoot for a few weeks that our next DLC for Frontier Development’s Jurassic World Evolution 2 would be around the corner – and those rumours are now confirmed with the announcement of the brand-new Cretaceous Predator Pack!
This pack will be available in Jurassic World Evolution 2 on November the 30th, and brings four new animals to the roster – the Gigantoraptor, Utahraptor, Concavenator and Tarbosaurus – the latter taking inspiration direct from its appearance in Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous: Hidden Adventure.
It’s awesome getting the Concavenator and Tarbosaurus in the game at long last – and I love how the Gigantoraptor and Utahraptor both grow the menagerie of feathered animals which we have present within the game.
That’s not all, however! As we have come to expect with any new pack addition to the game, this update will also come with an accompanying Free Update – Free Update 8! This pack adds a ton of quality-of-life features to the game – but arguably more exciting is the addition of five new dinosaur variants to the game.
Inspired by films directly in the Jurassic Universe, we have a new 2022 variant for the Allosaurus, a new 2022 variant for Dimorphodon (curious to see how this one differs to the DLC version), a new 2001 variant for the Pteranodon, a new 2001 variant for the Brachiosaurus, and lastly but by no means least – a 1997 variant for the Stegosaurus.
Alongside new dinosaur variants come a slew of new features added to the game. These include (but are not limited to):
New Decorations in the form of bins, benches, plant pots, fountains and more.
Capture Mode additions allowing you to change the weather and time of day in-camera without affecting your world.
New pre-built layouts on sandbox maps – something I think will be ideal for quick capture mode sessions.
Additional features such as Species Unlock Shuffling, new Chase Behaviours and Automated Hatcheries.
A full forum post will be shared on the Jurassic World Evolution social media channels – and we highly recommend you give it a read!
This new update adds some fan requested dinosaurs, and equally, some fan requested features in the form of the new decorations which are being added here. It’s fantastic to see that Frontier continue to listen to the community, and make additions based on direct feedback. Bench and Bin fans rejoice – you have been listened to!
Both the free update, and the paid Cretaceous Predator Pack will release on November 30th. Will you be picking the DLC up and playing the new update? Let us know in the comments below!
Huge thanks to Frontier Developments for entrusting us with access to content ahead of time to bring you this coverage. This would not be possible without their support.

First Look At 'Jurassic World: Chaos Theory
The first trailer for ‘Jurassic World: Chaos Theory’ has arrived - and if this is anything to go by, then the sequel to Camp Cretaceous looks set to be the post-Fallen Kingdom adventure many of us have been craving since the release of Jurassic World Dominion. Check out the first trailer below:
We are so excited to see that the queen of Nublar makes her return in the series - in a sequence which appears incredibly similar to the scene we see at the drive-thru theatre in Jurassic World Dominion. Camp Cretaceous didn’t shy away from recreating moments from Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom in it’s third season - so perhaps we will see that again in this series! We have to admit that the Rex looks great here - with the same render we’ve come to know and love from Dreamwork’s last outing in the Jurassic universe.
Even more exciting is the inclusion of a grown-up Darius Bowman - who now appears to be out in the wild hunting down the dinosaurs following the conclusion of Camp Cretaceous. The return of the main character from the prior series implies that we may once again see the ‘Nublar Six’ reunited - something which will be a treat for fans of the original show. We’re curious to see where Darius’s story factors into the wider universe in this series. Will he be working with the US Fish and Wildlife service? Or perhaps he is likely to cross paths with Claire Dearing? Only time will tell.
For now, what we can say is that it feels fantastic to have new Jurassic on the horizon - and we can’t wait to see what the animated series entails. If this can get back to the more mature world-building which we saw in the third series of Camp Cretaceous, then we think that fans will be in for a treat when the show debuts in 2024.
Are you excited for Jurassic World Chaos Theory? Let us know your thoughts in the comments below, and stay tuned to The Jurassic Park Podcast for all the latest news on the upcoming animated series.
Huge thanks to Swrve for sharing this trailer.

LEGO Jurassic Park: The Unofficial Retelling finally REVEALED!
We finally have our first look at LEGO Jurassic Park: The Unofficial Retelling via a press release and the first trailer for the animated special! Exclusively on Peacock on October 10th, this 22 minute special looks like a ton of fun.
youtube
This latest special from LEGO features the Jurassic Park story we all know and love told through the lens of Dr. Ian Malcolm, everyone’s favorite Chaotician! Based off the idea that this is an “Unofficial Retelling,” I had assumed that this would be a tall tale told by Malcolm, based off the events of the film. The idea of Ian Malcolm skewing the events of the island disaster in his favor could present a ton of humor to the story. But unlike my theory on the animated short, it looks like this is a more straight retelling of the story with humor infused throughout - which still looks great! Here’s a bit of information from the press release:
From the comfort of his living room and after finding his personal journal, the ever charming and now slightly older Chaos Theory Mathematician Dr. Ian Malcolm retells the tale of what happened that dreadful night at Jurassic Park. As only he can do, Dr. Malcolm finds a way to add his own unique humor and style to bring this harrowing story back to life. A theme park destination filled with living dinosaurs for family and kids to enjoy – what could possibly go wrong? Absolutely everything…just as he had predicted!
Along with the new animated story, the complete LEGO saga so far will be available on Peacock as of October 1st - LEGO Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar, LEGO Jurassic World: The Secret Exhibit (Episodes 1 + 2), and LEGO Jurassic World: Indominus Escape. Each Jurassic World series and short has been an exciting interpretation of the Jurassic universe, so adding LEGO Jurassic Park: The Unofficial Retelling to the list will be delightful!

Hammond Collection Steven Spielberg Announced by Mattel Creations! WHAT?!?
As part of the 12 Days of Fandom, Mattel Creations has revealed a brand new figure - Steven Spielberg. This new figure is a brand new Hammond Collection 3.75 inch figure featuring Steven in his iconic colorful rex t shirt from the set of Jurassic Park, along with a directors chair, camera rig, dilophosaurus and it’s animatronic stand. What a completely wild set, but of course very welcomed.
Check out the full gallery of pictures of this reveal from Mattel Creations. The product launches on July 21st at 9:00 A.M. PST, with a price tag of $30 USD. Your purchase will be limited to 2 figures - perfect for one to show off and another to keep in the box! Be sure to jump on it quickly on the 21st, as you never know if the figures released around SDCC will ever see the light of day again. Be sure to find more information from Mattel Creations.
The release of this figure still begs the question… when will we see the release of a Dr. Henry Wu figure from Mattel. It’s well overdue and a bit surprising to get a Steven Spielberg figure before one of the most integral characters from the Jurassic Park franchise. The character and BD Wong surely deserve better.

Fanattik Launches Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary Line
Celebrations for Jurassic Park’s 30th Year continue – this time with friends of the Podcast Fanattik announcing a brand-new line of products which have been inspired by the legacy of this iconic line.
Fanattik’s new line comes in the iconic red, green and yellow colours of the classic Jurassic Park branding – and it also incorporates elements which fans will recognize, such as Ian Malcolm and Mr DNA. There are four products in the assortment – plus a host of other complimentary Jurassic Park inspired products which Fanattik have released in the past.
Up first we have the 30th Anniversary Jurassic Park Opening Weekend Ticket. Fanattik have released opening weekend tickets in the past, but this one is adorned with the 30th Anniversary logo and also comes packaged in the gorgeous Jurassic Park colored packaging. This, much like many of Fanattik’s items, will look absolutely fantastic displayed on a shelf.
Following on from this we have the Vehicle I.D. Card – and I love how the Fanattik team packed extra detail into the back of this including reference to both the night vision goggles seen in the film, and also wearing appropriate attire at the park. This is a fun representation of an in-universe item and also features the iconic classic yellow Jurassic Park logo.
Following on from this we have the new coin which joins this assortment – the ‘Life Finds A Way’ coin, featuring the iconic Doctor Ian Malcolm on one side, and the Tyrannosaurus Rex logo and ‘June 11, 1993’ on the other side of the coin. Malcolm is a very popular character in his own right, so it’s cool seeing him immortalized on a coin.
Lastly, we have the limited edition ‘How To Make A Dinosaur’ print – featuring some fun graphics from the Mr DNA animation which features in the original film. I absolutely love this print. It takes inspiration from a fan favorite moment within the film and looks wonderful. I may need to pick this one up!
Overall, the JP30 line brings a handful of cool products to the lineup of merchandise which Fanattik has been offering to fans. All of the items we have mentioned are set to release in June of this year – meaning fans will have the opportunity to celebrate Jurassic June in style!
You can preorder the full line right now at the Fanattik website: https://www.wearefanattik.com/jurassic-park-m30
Let us know what you think of this product line in the comments below, and also on Social Media. As always – stay tuned for the latest news on Jurassic Park’s 30th Anniversary!

A Closer Look At London Natural History Museum’s Pop Up Jurassic Park Store
65 million years in the making…
A brand-new Jurassic Park 30th Anniversary #NHMxJURASSIC store has opened at the Natural History Museum in London!
This ground-shaking collaboration between the NHM and Universal has transformed the Cranbourne Boutique gift shop into a slice of pure ‘93 nostalgia, with brand new graphics and deco marking the occasion of the original film’s 30th birthday.
You’ll enter through the classic Jurassic Park gates (complete with flickering flames), before being greeted by a life-size model of Velociraptor Blue. They’ve spent a lot of time to get the details right, including fact files about the Nublar species on lower display cages, JP-branded crates, and a number of new graphics for #JURASSICPARK30, including a floor-to-ceiling painted-style rendition of the Brachiosaurus scene from the movie.
The shelves are stocked with Jurassic merch, including Lego sets, Mattel dinosaur figures (including the new 2023 Dino Tracker range), Toymaster Captivz eggs, Noble Collection dioramas, Fannatik merchandise, plushies, t-shirts, pin badges, keyrings, books, prints, and even more official Jurassic merch.
Perhaps most excitingly are the range of exclusive Natural History Museum x Jurassic Park merchandise: branded the “Dinosaur Observation Committee”. The collection currently boasts a keychain, enamel pin, iron-on patch and lanyard to collect- all featuring the iconic classic red Tyrannosaurus Rex logo. To our knowledge these pieces will only be available in this store - meaning fans should visit it whilst it is open to grab a super limited-edition piece of Jurassic memorabilia.
It is confirmed that the store will evolve throughout Jurassic Park’s 30th Birthday - with new product lines added frequently to keep the store fresh. If you’re a Jurassic fan in the UK then you do not want to miss this one!
The pop-up store will remain open until September, and entry is included in the free general admission ticket. If you’re in the UK you won’t want to miss this!
Massive thanks to the team at Universal Pictures UK for inviting us to the opening - it was an event 65 Million Years in the making!

Dominion Malta Expansion DLC Announced for Jurassic World Evolution!
It’s time to travel back to Malta! Today, Frontier announced the latest DLC for Jurassic World Evolution 2, the Dominion Malta Expansion.
The continued expansion of Jurassic World Evolution 2 heads to the seedy underworld of Jurassic World Dominion’s Malta marketplace where you help lead illicit operations just before the event of the film! Not only will you get to take in 3 new islands, but you’ll also get to travel along with the likes of Kayla Watts, Soyona Santos, Barry Sembène and Lewis Dodgson - voiced by DeWanda Wise, Dichen Lachman, Omar Sy and Cambell Scott, respectively. AMAZING!
Along with the inclusion of film locations and characters, we also get a slew of dinosaurs. In this DLC, Lystrosaurus, Oviraptor, Moros Intrepidus and the much sought after Atrociraptor all join the pack. They all look pretty stunning. But if new additions weren’t enough, we’ll also see new skins for the Allosaurus, Iguanodon, Dimorphodon and the Carnotaurus to match their film counterparts.
Lastly, it sounds like we’ll be getting new buildings, vehicle skins, decorations, the addition of a natural lagoon and many more quality of life changes along the way. This all sounds like a pretty major update, and one that may entice me to dive back into the game on December 8th! You’ll be able to pick up the Dominion Malta Expansion for $19.99. If you want to read more about the update, head over to the Jurassic World Evolution 2 website for more!

‘Hidden Adventure’ Is A Return To Form For Camp Cretaceous – Non Spoiler Review
Jurassic World Camp Cretaceous: Hidden Adventure is just around the corner – providing an interactive adventure which immerses us within the camper’s time on Isla Nublar after the fall of Jurassic World. Despite my initial cynicism about how an interactive Jurassic story would work, I was surprisingly impressed with the production quality and in-depth decisions which go into making this a compelling story which feels like a return to form for the highs of Season 1, 2 & 3 which I really enjoyed.
Join me as we go a little bit deeper into how the interactive adventure works, and also how it connects to other parts of the show. Don’t worry - we’ll keep it non-spoiler for this article!
Before we dive into another story with the Campers themselves, I think it is really important to acknowledge just how well the interactive components of this story work. As someone who consumes most of my media through my Xbox, I was slightly hesitant about how well optimized the interface would be for this experience – but it was flawless. The episode is explored from the perspective of Darius Bowman – and the direction does a really good job of making it clear when you are about to be prompted to make a decision by zooming into a first-person view from his perspective. I was really impressed by how much thought has gone into making the decision making in Hidden Adventure immersive and engaging – and I can imagine younger fans having a lot of fun going through and making different decisions at different points throughout the story to see what else may unfold.
Moving onto the story itself – it is fair to say that this is more of what we have come to expect from Camp Cretaceous – but in a good way! Set between the events of Season Two and Season Three, this story explores how the campers continue to fight to survive on Isla Nublar as they wait for an opportunity to escape the island. I loved how this episode really grounded itself in the Season One & Two themes of the show – really feeling like this is a return to form for the show before the inclusion of Mantah Corp in later seasons. Don’t get me wrong – there isn’t perhaps as much connection to the other areas of the story here as there could be, but as a standalone adventure it fits well within the pre-established structure of the show and is a welcome return to the remnants of Jurassic World.
There are some interesting connections to the wider Jurassic universe in this short – with some fun nods to the history of Jurassic World and also a couple of cool easter egg moments packed in throughout. I really enjoyed the fact that we got to explore new locations on Nublar which felt a little more grounded with the theme park aesthetic I had been longing for. This is something which I wish we had got more of in the original run of Camp Cretaceous – so getting it in the short was a welcome divergence from the familiar locations we see in the first three seasons of the show. Don’t get me wrong – there are a lot of familiar locations again in the new short, but I think they are well balanced with new areas and a story which keeps itself moving at a decent pace. It would also be remiss for me to not mention the new ‘big bad’ dinosaur – which plays an interesting role in the Hidden Adventure. I enjoyed its inclusion and think that although it adds another new animal to the roster of Nublar, it works pretty well in this instance.
Overall, I think Hidden Adventure is a fun opportunity to revisit the Isla Nublar era of Camp Cretaceous. The story is well-rounded, the set-pieces grounded enough to be believable, and it does a good job of exploring some additional areas of the island with some fun nods to the wider franchise thrown in. Hidden Adventure fundamentally has all the components of what I feel makes a good Camp Cretaceous episode – and that’s why it’s a successful way to round out the series in my opinion!
Camp Cretaceous Hidden Adventure arrives on Netflix on November 15th.
Huge thanks to Dreamworks and Netflix for providing us with early access to the episode to produce this review.

The Time Billy Brennan Almost Returned To The Jurassic Franchise
Jurassic Park Trespasser and Jurassic World. On the surface they are two very different and distinctive projects. One is a fondly reflected-on game well regarded for its clunky mechanics and sometimes goofy gameplay, and the other is the fourth entry in the Jurassic film saga. However – what if I told you that the two projects are more intrinsically linked than you may have been led to believe?
Thanks to a new series from Derrick Davis, of Jurassic Time, we have the most definitive insight into the production of these two titles – and how they may be more connected than you realize. Derrick has released a three-part series over on the Jurassic Time channel interviewing Seamus Blackley – the man responsible for Trespasser, and also the original ‘Jurassic World’. We recommend checking out his three-part series for more insight – but in this article we’ll discuss some of the most interesting details pulled from these videos. Hold onto your butts, Jurassic fans!
The first part of the series dives deep into the history of Trespasser – a game which still has an active and vocal fanbase today. As we all know, Trespasser is popular for the depth it added to John Hammond’s involvement in Site B – building out the mysterious Isla Sorna which we encounter in The Lost World Jurassic Park and also Jurassic Park III. It was really interesting hearing how eager Seamus was to push the boundaries of what was possible in a videogame with Trespasser – trying to create something groundbreaking in its own right. It’s really fascinating hearing about the challenges which faced the development of Trespasser – and it makes me wonder what this game could have been without the adversity Seamus and the team faced. I will warn you that section one does talk about poor mental health – so please be mindful of this and look after yourself when listening if this may be triggering for you.
Part two of the series is a fascinating look at the original ‘Jurassic World’ videogame – an action-packed sequel to Jurassic Park III which would have built on many of the same themes which we see within the fourth entry in the film franchise. It’s fascinating hearing about how the original Quetzalcoatlus teaser which is infamous in the community came about – and is also fascinating to see how the seeds of the last three films in the franchise may have been planted back when Seamus was working on the franchise. It is a huge shame that the game which Seamus was planning on developing never came to fruition, as there was real potential for the game to provide a unique experience which I think many Jurassic fans are still clamoring for to this day. It is clear when listening to the interview that Seamus was incredibly passionate about the Jurassic franchise, and was someone who wanted to create something incredible for Jurassic fans.
The third and final part of the interview series builds on some of the interesting parallels between the original pitch for the videogame, and the final product we got with the Jurassic World film many years later. Firstly, we have to touch on the prevalence of Billy Brennan as a returning character. How awesome would it have been to see Billy taking the place of Owen in Jurassic World – perhaps even with some guidance from a certain Doctor Grant? This would have been awesome to see and is clearly inspiration for the connection Owen shares with the Raptors in the final Jurassic World. We also have to touch on the fact that the most intelligent Velociraptor in the game would have been a Raptor called Blue – something which clearly also transitioned into the film. There are many more things which appear to have inspired the final story Colin Trevorrow chose to tell – including elements of militarized dinosaurs and also other elements like the IBRIS Programme. It’s clear that the core DNA of Jurassic World very much pulled from the would-be Trespasser sequel which was never released.
I found this series of interviews absolutely fascinating and would like to thank Derrick for working so hard to bring these to us. I have so much admiration for Seamus as a huge fan of Halo. This man created the console which has been integral to so much of my life – so hearing him talk so passionately and enthusiastically about the Jurassic franchise and his history with it was incredibly special. Trespasser may be a black spot on the history of games for many – but it still holds a fond place in the heart of so many fans because of the hard work it took to immerse players within the world of Jurassic Park. For both better and worse there is no game quite like Trespasser – and we can only hope that future Jurassic games learn from the strengths of this open-world title.
Huge thanks to Derrick at Jurassic Time for sharing this with the community. Make sure to check out the full series over on his YouTube channel, and show him some love. A lot of work goes into creating interviews like this one!

New Dinosaurs & Features Come to Jurassic World Evolution 2 THIS WEEK
The latest update to Jurassic World Evolution 2 promises to bring new updates and plenty more dinosaurs as the game gets a free update, and also a brand-new dinosaur pack – the Late Cretaceous Pack. In this article we’ll take a closer look at the newest dinosaurs added to the game – and also the features which are coming with the free update.
The first animal added is a brand-new pterosaur known as Barbaridactylus – named after the Barbary Coast of North Africa where it was discovered. This pterosaur follows a string of Pterosaurs with unique crests and unique names, and I’m excited to have it added to the roster of avian animals already in the game.
Another exciting edition for me as a fan of Dinos In The Wild is the towering Sauropod known as Alamosaurus. This humongous dinosaur is one of the largest dinosaurs ever discovered, and features unique spines running down it’s shoulders, back and tail.
Alongside this we have the Australovenator – a unique carnivore which lived in Australia about 95 million years ago. This animal is a nimble predator – with sharp teeth and flexible arms. It’s much more mobile than many of the other carnivores in our parks – adding a unique new type of bipedal animal to the game.
Lastly, we have Styxosaurus – a long and agile new marine reptile which will be available to be hatched in lagoons throughout our parks. This animal is unique in how streamlined it is – and it is great to see bioluminescent colours returning with this animal.
Alongside these brand-new animals, update four is also joining the game – bringing a ton of new features which have been requested by fans. The first includes one I am very excited for – which is the ability to customize our Lagoons. Frontier show a placeable Indominus Rex skeleton as one of the scenery pieces – emphasizing just how much variety we will now be able to add to our lagoons. It’s safe to say Isla Nublar recreations just hit a new level of detail!
There are also behavioral changes – with escaped aerial reptiles now attacking helicopters, and marine reptiles attacking the wall of lagoons when they are uncomfortable. Alongside this there will also be some additional inter-species relationships added to enrich the behaviours shared between different types of dinosaurs. We also get additional building decorations and the ability to change decorative lights throughout our park – allowing us to add different colours. I can’t wait to add some red emergency lighting to areas of my park!
A new overlay feature is also getting added to the game’s Capture Mode – enabling us to add postcard and stamp overlays to screen captures. And lastly but certainly not least, there will be a slew of new updates to the game’s sandbox settings. I won’t list them exhaustively here – you can read the full update on the Frontier Forums.
This DLC adds some cool new animals to the game, and I also think it is awesome to once again see a beefy free update from the Frontier team – showing their commitment to continuing to develop the best Jurassic Park builder we have ever had. I appreciate all the improvements made here – particularly the ability to customize our Lagoons – and cannot wait to see what else may be on the horizon for the game in the future.
This DLC pack and the free update will be available to all players on September the 15th. Stay tuned for more details on all things Jurassic World Evolution 2 in the near future!
