so, hi, just wanna say i'm blaming you for being back on my bullshit with that one hc of mine
tw ed// (if you don't want to read it i'm sorry for bothering you! just figured out you're already in deep heavy angst, so maybe its something you would be interested in)
your tony is skinny and it goes with his addiction and other stuff i guess, but all i'm thinking about is how he just can't eat bc he feels sick at the thought of food. he throw up so many times - alcohol, anxiety, his playboy image, (i mean drugs works too) - that he avoids meals. just bare minimum. he isn't satisfied by fav food anyway, so why bother
and maybe i'm just coping but there is steve and his patience. tony thinks he can trick anyone but steve observes how he loses weight, tracks his meals etc. and then steps in. at first tony reacts aggressively "i can take care of myself. i can feed myself. i'm not a baby" but he is a baby by not facing his problems
i dunno where i'm going with it, but yeah. i think about ed tony a lot and when i first saw your art i was like "that's him"
and maybe you love as well as me make those characters suffer (no shaming! honestly i do it all the time), but from time to time, when you draw them happy, i'm happy with them
and you know, i guess it's a part when i'm saying thank you. something important is happening to me everytime when i see your art
sending you big big love and i hope i didn't overwhelm you
omg thank you for that it’s- it’s perfect
i also think that being constently in the public stage might start the whole thing, like he has to be perfect all the time when hes a teen, with howard using him to perfect his public image
and being the control freak that he is he might feel like food is the only thing he can control sometimes
also, yeah im trying to balance angst and fluff on what i post but it depends a lot on my mood and what i feel like drawing and these last weeks havn’t been... fluff-inspiring
anyway, thank you so much for the long message, really it’s so rewarding to have someone sharing their headcanons and thought on your own art and it makes me lowkey cry of joy

Hello! I really like your art a lot, it's such big inspiration to me! I wanted to ask if you have any tips with lighting? It's something I struggle with and I really like the way you place your light/shadow and colors in your drawings so I was wondering if you have a method to that at all? Thank you!!
thank you sm 💓💕💞 and as for tips hmmmm:
• establishing your light source is always very helpful even if it’s just standard lighting/studio lighting. I like doodling a little sun in an area just to tell me the direction of the light and where it’s coming from, then you add your shadows accordingly.
• try to avoid using plain black for your shadows! Since it has no tone, it will make your piece look dull and flat and that’s not really a good look imo UNLESS that’s what you’re going after then I say go for it!
• different colours will have their own different tone for shadows! Say if you observe your hand then something with more colour like a blanket, you’ll see that the tone of the shadows aren’t all the same that’s bc colour tends to bounce etc etc colour/light theory stuff. Anyway, point is! If you’re adding shadows try to change the colour accordingly! Manually looking for which colours goes with which is tedious imo and sometimes you’ll get different hues, so what I like to do is I like having one set of colour I use as shadow and I usually choose something warm like a dark red or dark brown since I want that tone to reflect it, set the shadow layer to multiply then lower the opacity. That way, I can use the same colour throughout the whole thing which will save me time, and the colour of the shadow will also differentiate because of the layer style + the original colour seeping through since the opacity is lowered. If you need me to explain this process in a greater detail I can show you how I do it 💗💓
• If you’re unsure of where to place shadows, using references that are available to you is always very helpful. Like if you’re not sure how the shadows will be placed on cloth, what I like to do is just use my phone app and light a blanket from the angle of where the light source is so you can observe how the light falls/colours bounce/how it’s going to look like. Then take that info and slap it on ur drawing lol unless ur memory is SUPER good you won’t really get it 100% accurate but you WILL communicate the idea and I think that’s what matters aha. There’s also plenty of resources that shows you how lighting works/explains it in greater detail on YouTube or Pinterest or Deviantart or Twitter etc. and they’re always very helpful if you’re still unsure!
Hope that helps 💗💝💖 If you want me to explain how I do a particular thing in greater detail, or if you want me to elaborate more on X or Y my ask/IM is always open !! (-:
