Agree with your tags on the president snow post but I also think OP was correct. Nothing was set in stone. He could have chosen to be a good person. At every turn. And he chose to be a asshole every single time, so much so that I think it'd be out of character for him to choose to be better. But he had plenty of options, though he might have felt like he had no choice.

yeah you're completely right!! while i haven't read the book, i do think collins' does a very good job of showing characters that are real-- and so, by definition flawed. at the beginning especially, you want to root for him but like you said-- at every turn, he makes the selfish choice. it's a pattern to the point that there is no other option for him, because that is just who he is. a villain who could have chosen to be better but he doesn't and so, that is exactly what makes him such a villain.

idk if this makes sense but like i think i said in the original post tags, i saw him as an irredeemable villain but i'm aware, like you put it so well, that he did have the opportunity to do better. he just never actually chooses to.

But Sirius in this fic is too addicted to his luxurious life. So when his parents arrange his marriage which is necessary for him before inheriting the position of Lord Black, Sirius doesn't refuse.

Its has background jegulus too. But that's really really background. Only talked about since they both live in Paris.
