Sadly not really an mc, not really, though everyone gets their moments to shine and he's no different. There's really no character in this show that's a total miss or doesn't at least have a few cool moments (except for like 2 that just have nothing to do for the whole series, no one really cares about them anyways tho lmao)

Hard agree with everything Gemin said. The show is essentially a horror-themed shonen. The main enemies are all either evil sprits spawned from human fears or dudes with cursed powers doing cursed things. The story and universe are fantastic and they even manage to pull some pretty big emotional punches when needed, the animation is immaculate (barring the circumstances in which it was made... whole other can of worms), and the power system at play is generally considered one of the better ones in modern shonen. (ok correction on the signalis thing because I just checked if it was on gamepass and it doesn't seem to be? maybe it's not on the pc version of gamepass and only on the xbox one, idk)

Regardless; I would probably pick it up any other time (especially if it's short and I can blow through it in like 3 sittings), but this is midterm week for me and Rebirth releases in two days- which is going to devour all my time for like the next week. So yeah, busy right now, maybe in the future.

Well, the horror aspect makes it more interesting, so if/when I get around to the Jujukai I'll let y'all know. Though I barely have free time to fully watch things these days unless I wanna destroy my sleep schedule, and with March around the corner it's gonna bring a crap-ton of business to work (Dune Part 2 and GxK plus a Kung Fu Panda sequel apparently), so who knows what the future holds...

Okay, so looks like SIGNALIS is indeed off the Game Pass (both PC and Xbox I think?) as of this past October, which... welp. Fortunately! It's still only like 20 bucks and can be beaten anywhere between 9 and 16 hours. Being inspired by the original Resident Evil and Silent Hill means it's naturally on the short side.

I've discussed with my friends from uni that I have a really huge respect for Jujutsu Kaisen creators who can made this series has amazing stories and introducing a new concept to us. Also, the elements of big boobs or unnecessary (and a bit nsfw) details are absent which made me even happier. But I don't think that's the only elements that made Jujukai popular, for popularity itself is usually unfair even for a meaningful stories. That's why I want to ask you, what is the other charm Jujukai has that made it so much different from other popular anime/manga?

Speaking as someone who grows up as Jump series fan, I would describe Jujutsu Kaisen as "a Jump manga written by a Jump fan". It doesn't go out of "Jump" too much, but also have went against a lot of Jump traditional views; for example female design, Nobara's characterization, no apparent rivalry, no apparent "annoying" love interest, not much cringe romance, and many others. There was a survey on reader demographic of jujutsu kaisen and rather than young boys who are Jump main target, most jjk readers actually aged around 20-30s. It's more fitting to say that jjk is a manga for adult Jump fans who grow up with it - like Gege too.

AHH OKAY the official art for the Shibuya Incident Arc OST is out (it will release January 24th, 2024) and I have so much to say about it!!

Suguru reflected in the young side of Satoru, his smile, the bright look in his eyes—that side alone looks like it could be in a Ghibli movie or something else lighthearted.

Then on the right side, there’s no Suguru. Based on context clues, since he’s looking at Suguru on the left side, who he is probably looking at on the right is Kenjaku, but there’s no reflection. Because he doesn’t see Suguru. The sadness in his eyes, the frown, the blood on his face—it looks like the cover of a horror story. (It basically is Satoru’s personally crafted horror fantasy come to life).

I am actually SO obsessed with this artwork. It is BEAUTIFULLY done. My god. The artist for this piece (please tell me who it is if you know) really captured the soul of the Shibuya Incident. Ugh. Yes. Yes yes yes.

(Side note: I am eagerly anticipating the name of the nostalgic, slightly creepy piano song that played when Satoru saw Suguru’s face again/was getting sealed. My guesses are either ‘Blue Spring’ or ‘Gate Open’.)
