This post has been a long time coming. In January I started working with the oh so amazing @jessaleck at the City Way YMCA. In our first meeting she asked what my goals were. What I said was that I wanted to be long, lean and strong. The truth is I already was those things. My actual goal, I'm realizing today through tears, is Loving my body AS IT IS. And I think I'm getting there. We never know why we are led on one direction or another. But my Joy Sense led me to Jessica. To say she is inspiring, caring, and supportive is not enough. There really are no words when two souls align. I would NEVER have imagined posting this pic. But here I am, doing it. This is what courage looks like. As women, we receive so many messages about our bodies. What they should look like. How we should use them. And we internalize these messages while simultaneously going along with the hidden belief that our bodies are not enough, that we are not enough. Think about it - there is a lot of money riding on this for the people that feed us this bullshit. Your body is personal to you. It is no one else's business . Getting into relationship with my body in the way I have has been extremely vulnerable! I have people all around me that tell me I'm beautiful. But I needed to OWN my beauty my Self All of it.
