I wanna preface this by saying Joy went too far in certain aspects of her S2 arc, but the Joy vs Nina situation would have never escalated that much in canon had Nina not been the Chosen One.

Like hear me out: the entire reason Joy was kidnapped in the first place was because she was supposed to be the Chosen One. And honestly, we’re never told for how long she was being told this. It might have been dropped on her only once she was back at home, or they might have told her way before then and she just didn’t give it too much thought before it suddenly became real. We have no real idea. But either way, her isolation from all of the friends she held dear, and the essential imprisonment in her own home was all due to being this supposed Paragon.

And she obviously doesn’t want to be the Chosen One. She says it multiple times in S1, to the point of tears and screaming. Joy is glad when it turns out not to be her, but it’s obvious that she basically went through that entire ordeal, missed a whole year of crucial social development in her actual home (bc lbr she probably spent more time at Anubis growing up than she did her actual house), all for nothing.

And to make matters worse, the actual Chosen One was walking around free as a bird, making friends with all Joy’s friends, and managing to capture Fabian’s affections. So here’s this girl that Joy doesn’t know at all, who has cemented herself in the daily lives and hearts of Anubis House residents, and she happens to hold the role that Joy had been forced to play to her detriment.

That’s what stings most, I think, though Joy says it’s about Fabian. Most of her actual hurt and actual retaliation comes from feeling excluded by Sibuna. “I’ve seen things, remember? Things we don’t talk about because you and your little Scooby gang shut me out.” She is most angry because her isolation never stopped.

Of course, it doesn’t help that she was in love with Fabian, and now the actual Chosen One (who in Joy’s mind has practically gotten everything handed to her) is with him.

I firmly believe that if Nina was just a normal girl and there wasn’t a mystery going on, but she still was dating Fabian, Joy would not have gone so far. It’s not right that she went that far in the first place, of course, but she was justifiably angry at the injustice of her situation. She should have turned that anger on the adults who got it wrong in the first place, but it’s way easier to punch on your level than to punch up at grown adults with power over you. It’s a real shame that Nina got caught in the crossfire of Joy’s war with the world, because they really could have been such good friends.

Joy thinks Nina has it so easy. Joy, who was given the title Chosen One, and suffered under it, had to watch the actual Chosen One get along fine, and was expected to not feel envious, righteously angry at such things.

It's not until after the article. It's not until Nina and Fabian reunite. It's not until the year is done and over, but for two nights left, Joy finds Nina crying, the way Fabian found Nina crying at the start, only this time it's almost 10 P.M., and Nina sits on the stoop in front of Anubis House, shoulders quaking.

Nina can't stop shaking. In the future, she will consider this night to be the night she let out the pressure that had been boiling over. Senkhara is gone. Rufus is gone. They survived. And now she can finally breathe.

The sobs are familiar to Joy. She did it often when she was alone with a chessboard and with chants written down on paper that she was forced to memorize.

Wordlessly, she slips down next to Nina, who breathes in hard in an attempt to slow the next onslaught of tears.

"It hasn't been easy at all for you, has it?"

Nina, weeks prior, would likely have given a passive-aggressive answer along the lines of "Oh, you finally realized?" But she doesn't want to anymore. She laughs pitifully, to which Joy scrunches her nose and shakes her head.

"No, no, don't do that."

They sit in silence until Victor ushers them in.

joy's vendetta against nina was not about her. it was about getting back the life she lost. about accepting her new reality. this was her struggling to accept what her parents were willing to put her through for their own selfish needs. she wanted her life back, but didn't realize it was stolen. joy was falling apart from the inside out and no one noticed, no one cared, and hardly anyone even bothered to help until the entire house had started to think she had lost her mind. no support. no kindness. no joy. so she made mistakes, but they failed her.

On that note, Fabian is 100% the asshole when it comes to his relationship with Nina and Joy. Mf led Joy on and flirted with her in front of his girlfriend. Nina and Joy should have collectively beat the crap out of them.

Mara is wild and not the moral compass the show paints her to be. Don't get me wrong, I love Mara but oh my god??? She sent pictures of Ms. Robinson and Mick to Mr. Sweet to make it seem like they had an inappropriate relationship and was just like "im sorry lol Mick u deserve better im just a mathlete"

Patricia in season one deserves to be smacked. Like I know that she was being gaslit like crazy, but she bullied the shit out of Nina and she should have paid for it a little bit.

Season three isn't bad because Nina isn't there. It just carries a less serious vibe and is more comedic. The mystery is also being shown to use through Eddie's lens who completely accepts the Osirian status while Nina never wanted to be the Paragon.

Victor had every right to hate Sibuna. Mf worked his whole for this shit only to have it all unraveled by the British knock off Mystery Inc.

Jerome Clarke is an AWFUL human being and he doesn't actually become decent until Mara dumped him. He might be funny but quit acting like he's a genuine person.

My first time watching House of Anubis. Overall I enjoyed the episode, I liked the mystery element. Patricia pissed me off the entire episode 😂 I get your friend is missing but taking it out on Nina wasn’t the way. I already sense a love triangle between amber, Mara, and Mick. If the video does well I’ll do the whole series.
