Soundscape 016: Jowaa (Ghana)
MusicMap’s ‘Soundscape’ series is the easiest way to keep up with local music scenes and global trends. Every few weeks we visit a different country and ask someone familiar with the local scene to serve up a mix of the finest, freshest sounds in the area…
Following last month’s ear-opening trip to Lebanon, we now head south-west to the Gulf of Guinea for our latest Soundscape mix. This edition comes direct from Accra, home of Ghanaian producer Gafacci and Akwaaba Music boss BBRAVE, together known as Jowaa.
Offering a menu of “Afrobeats for the rave age”, the high-energy duo’s propulsive new EP Asokpor 1.0 shows they more than live up to their name, which translates as “dance hard” in Accra’s Ga language. Their soundscape mix is the latest and greatest evidence that Accra’s new wave of electronic music can compete with the internationally recognised music scenes of Luanda and Durban.
“There are different styles of music in Ghana but Jowaa represents dance music,” the duo explain. “In the tracklist are songs by artists whose music are like theme songs to people living in the coastal areas of Accra. Songs included in the list are by Ghanaian DJs, producers and artists who are riding their own waves in Ghana and the world.”

Tapos nag picture din kami (at aksidente ko siyang natawag na "beh," kasalanan 'to ng surname niya na Eve, at ni Consi na wala nang ginawa kungdi tawagin kami ng "be" hehe jokes) tapos asaran in 3.. 2.. 1.. tapos hug ulit, tapos, ano, hug ulit.. tapos ayun, love ko siya hehe.
Sobrang dami pang nangyari ngayong araw na tinatamad na akong i-share kaya sa akin na lang 'yon, sa'kin lang siya. <3

Kahit minsan inarte ka, kahit minsan ipinipilit mo na mas magaling 'yung ibang tao sayo, kahit i-doubt mo 'yung sarili mong kakayahan, I'll always be happy to prove you that you are way more than what you really think you are. Na lahat ng sinasabi nila sa'yo, it was their insecurities talking na hindi mo dapat pinapansin. Out of all people, feeling ko naman mas kilala kita kesa sa kanila. Alam ko na magaling ka talaga, na lahat naman ng nakuha mo ngayon ay dahil sa sarili mo talaga, sobrang deserve mo 'yan lahat. Nagulat lang sila kasi nagwa-warm up ka pa lang nung Grade 11 HAHAHA. Tapos ako, mas gagalingan ko na lang, aayusin ko na buhay ko para ma-proud ka rin sa'kin HAHA totoo na talaga 'to. Kasi i love you, at ayokong isipin mo na hindi ko inaayos buhay ko. Kaya ayun, mahal. Mahal na mahal kita, hindi ko man madalas masabi sa'yo pero masaya ako kasi ako 'yung pinili mong mahalin. Sobrang saya ko kasi, lah, akin ka kaya diba? Kaya ayun lang, love na love na loveee kita. Alam ko na kakayanin mong mag top hanggang huli, and I'll be the proudest syempre. Nandito lang ako palagi, sumbong mo lang sa'kin 'yang mga nangba-bash sa'yo, mga pabibo sila. Akobala, iirapan natin 'yan sila. HAHAHA basta, love, congrats!

July- The time we went back to Taysan Batangas after the Taal Volcano Eruption to celebrate my little cousin’s 1st birthday and also to eat “Loming Batangas”.
August- My birthmonth, this is the most memorable birthday because this was my first time having a good time with my friends. Especially it is also my first time celebrating my birthday with my jowaa that’s why it became more memorable. (pero wala na kame baka naman po haha)
September- This was the time my little cousin went back home after staying for a month in the farm to be with her grandparents.
October- Playing my favorite sport is now allowed, we get back training basketball to be prepared for the upcoming liga in our subdivision and also to get back in shape after a long time of being stock inside the house.
November- Gala with my CD fam they are my cousin’s friends that became my friends also because of inuman and tambay. If you look at them they are my ate’s and kuya’s because they are one year ahead at me, but it doesn’t matter where still having good times and can understand each other.
December- After a long time being inside the house and can’t play basketball. The time has come, our most awaited liga started last December. It was so fun because I experienced it again after a long time, I can’t explain how happy we are when the leader’s of our court announced that we’re having liga. Even though my team lost I enjoyed it a lot.

I love both of them! It has been amazing to see Ama grow and Moliy is sooo good too. Tbh in the past few months i've felt very disconnected from music. I was in lockdown and the only thing i wanted to do was pole. I'm really loving the lojay and sarz EP, lots of afrobeat instrumentals with Portuguese influences like DJ Bboy (eg Pânico, Kuribotas) it kinda reminds me of Azonto. Its like Asokpor music - Jowaa, Gaffaci etc. Also really loving amapiano remixes that i'm finding on soundcloud. hmm yeah so that's it for me rn i'm all over the place when it comes to music

Die schwedische Musikerin Fever Ray kündigt ein Remixalbum zu ihrem 2017 veröffentlichten Album “Plunge“ für den 13. Dezember an. Mit��“Falling” präsentiert sie außerdem den ersten Song, geremixt von Glasser.
