A/N: this is nct dream’s reaction to realizing your bias is not him (and you’re a couple). gender neutral, got way too deep at some points and was NOT meant to be this long. enjoy.

note that english is my second language and i speak mixing slang, accents and spellings from 3283928 places so i did notice there’s practice written with both s and c down there so

he’s very creative and as an artsy kid myself i know we’re very prone to feeling left out because we’re just different from the others

the whole thing just made him insecure about things he had settled with himself long ago

he was fine with being him

and i need to point out this is NOT about making you change your bias from jaemin to him, this is solely about having you recognize his efforts, even if you already do

turns out it’s a habit of jeno to go extra hard sometimes and he needs someone to make him take a break

so it goes down like you breaking into the practice room when jeno and jisung were practising

after that’s been done and you’ve hugged for at least like 5 min nonstop, you head over to the dorms, where hyuck was in charge of setting up a blanket fort while mork and nana gather board games, jisung gets the food and chenle

well chenle just had to make sure jisung doesn’t forget to order for someone and doesn’t break like 10 plates trying to set the table lol

this is way longer than the others so imma wrap it up

make it obvious and loud that you see and respect jeno’s hard work and he’ll be alright again

and maybe make those game nights a weekly thing when possible, it would make him very happy

thankfully i’ve never really hurt myself too terribly except for a broken wrist, but between the ages of 10-17 i’d occasionally hurt my back by sitting weird, usually in an attempt to play video games without the glasses i desperately needed lol. once when i was like 11 i laid belly down on the couch with my elbows up on the arm of it for like three hours, which messed me up for days, then a few other times i hurt myself, but another bad one when i was 17, i had my back curved while sitting and propping my laptop up on my knee, tried to move and literally just cried, crawled on the floor, and laid there all night until i forced myself to move in the morning. lol luckily it hasn’t happened since i lost a little weight.

20. what’s a random or interesting fact about you ??

uhm, nothing? i literally can’t think of one, i’m dull af. i uh.. i replaced my own cpu cooler once? lmfao

21. do you listen to music while you write ??

sometimes. a lot of time i just like the silence or ambient background noise, but if i’ve got a fitting playlist for the vibe of what i’m trying to write, i’ll use it!

22. are you a morning, day, evening, or night writer ??

i’m a never writer, apparently v___v but lol ideally a night writer, my best work is between the hours of 12am & 4am, but my sleeping schedule is so inconsistent, and so is my dad’s who spends literally every waking moment of his telling me different stuff he wants done, so it’s tough to hit that sweet spot. i write whenever i get a chance tho.

23. have you ever roleplayed intoxicated ??

lol nah i’ve never even had a drink. like what teenager doesn’t have a drink at some point?? i told you i’m lame.

24. what language or languages do you speak ??

english, barely. and assassin’s creed 2 taught me some italian swears. and ac: odyssey has had me occasionally dropping “malaka” bombs since the day i first played it haha.

25. how long have you roleplayed ??

officially, about 9 years. i started at 11 on myspace, rping dragon ball z stuff. but basically about 12 years, if you count how from the ages of 8-11 i’d put an anime pic up on my myspace, pretend i was older, and talk to roleplayers i didn’t realize were roleplayers lmfao.

26. favorite roleplay genre ??

i like pretty much anything, tbh. as long as it’s well thought out, has an interesting plot, or whatever. sometimes it doesn’t even need that, it just needs to catch my eye or line up with something i’m looking for. but yeah, supernatural, multi-fandom, sci-fi, romance, town rps, high school/college rps, anime rp (well, pokemon mostly), harry potter… i’ve done it all tbh and don’t particularly have a favorite.

27. one sound you hate & one you love ??

the sound of cotton stretching is the absolute worst thing to me. or scratching cotton. idk, it just sends chills up and down my spine and makes my hands feel weak lmfao. i’m weird. i really love the sound of rain, or fire crackling, or like “ambient” harp or ukulele music.

28. do you believe in ghosts ??

short answer, yes. long answer… i’m pretty sure i was friends with a ghost girl as a kid?? like no joke, even looking back at it through rational “adult” eyes, i’m still convinced. my fam moved into a new apartment, and pretty much right after that i started having dreams about a girl my age at the time (11-12). i’d never seen her before but the dreams would be like just conversations, like i was visiting a friend or something. i don’t remember them much, but i do remember the feeling of someone else in my room all the time, like you know how if someone else is around you just know even if you’re not looking at them? like that. there was even one night i was getting in bed, laid there a minute, and then i could have absolutely sworn somebody came in the room and sat down next to me on the bed because i felt the bed sink a little under their weight, but i looked and no one was there. i had a really vivid conversation/dream/thing that night. then a few nights later, for the first time since moving there i didn’t have one. the next morning my dad was really freaked out and said he fell asleep in the chair, but woke up and couldn’t breathe, and felt cold little hands over his mouth. he rationalized it as just waking up from a nightmare but i didn’t think so, so that night when i went to sleep and saw her i got really upset, yelled at her for it, and woke up right after. then i never saw or heard anything even remotely similar again, like she left or disappeared or something. it’s so weird, and i know how crazy it sounds, but yeah. don’t get me started on the topic of ghosts lmfao. THEN AGAIN, like a year later we had a carbon monoxide scare, but i really doubt the two were related because that would mean there was an entire year that we were breathing it in and the monitor didn’t do anything lol

29. do you believe in aliens ??

no alien story, thankfully, but it just makes no sense not to believe in them to me. like, we probably don’t have them on earth, and we’ve probably never encountered any, but it’s as close as you can get to a mathematical certainty that there’s some other life out there in the universe.

30. do you believe in true love ??

like, people who are just meant for each other, like romantic soulmates? nah not really. but i believe that two people can grow to truly love one another. whether it’s based off an initial attraction/infatuation, or a friendship, or both. i’d actually argue that’s a simple explanation of the biological science behind the feeling of love, but that’s an essay i’m not gonna write lol. but there’s apparently a lot of different types of love, so i guess “true love” is suggestive?

also slightly unrelated but i don’t-quite-believe-in-but-am-open-to-the-idea-of soulmates, not necessarily as two souls who are just meant for each other romantically and always end up together, but more as two or more souls that gravitate toward each other to make up the important people in each other’s lives, like family members, lovers, or close friends. but that’s more of a theoretical idea/possibility than an actual belief of mine.

31. do you hold grudges ??

um, yes. lol i try not to, and i really do want everyone to be their best/happiest selves, but some people man… some people can take a long walk off a short pier lmao

Farm Ducks

I want my farm ducks. I want to see Grandma Duck and Gus Goose appearance on DT... I’m pretty sure they’ll eventually appear, they are old school, canonical and relatively important characters.

When I first got into this fandom and the new DT was merely announced I went to check forums to see the ideas people had from the ducks and their comics and, well, a lot of people see Grandma, Elvira Coot, as the comics biggest Mary Sue on Duckverse. And I can see why, but I think there are several occasions she shows her flaws, and they are interesting.

Grandma is more of a matriarch than Scrooge is of a patriarch; her house is a safe haven for anyone in need (Even Scrooge, who also call her Grandma), to the point some comics even show Magica or Johnny as background characters in her family gatherings. But let’s not forget Elvira is more or less as old as Scrooge! So... How the heck is she alive? How old is she gonna be in the cartoon? Is she under an immortality spell too? Are all her three children dead? Well, I have no idea...

Elvira is an extremely grounded to the earth type of character, who cares about the “now” and practical things. She’s also extremely stubborn, as stubborn as a McDuck... She does have occasions she lost her calm and gentleness; sometimes at Scrooge being a total ass to her grandsons but there were several times she was fighting against the progress itself, or mind oriented, nerd characters. Elvira clearly dislikes academicism, scientific jargon, and revolutionary gadgets.

I think every comic Elvira and Ludwig interact for more than a couple of panels she ends up absolutely furious at him, and Ludwig, as anyone would expect, ends up being completely oblivious and infodumping her to infinity with abstract theories, that she sees as completely useless.

Since Gyro is usually sweet and caring, it takes more for her to kick him out, but she does, especially when he implies she’s old and need machines to help her taking care of the farm.

And well, there’s Fethry, who always bring the worst knickknacks to her farm to “help her with his great ideas”. More than one comic ends up with her and Gus running after Fethry, enraged... Gus... Running...? That’s something for later, back to Grandma.

I wonder how her relationship with Huey would be. Probably she was already told all sorts of helpful advice the JWG has to offer through Fethry and is already very done with the book.

But hey, no one can stop her from working at her farm, and doing everything by herself shielded only by her superhuman stubbornness... The place is too filled with memories, from her husband, from her kids growing up... She’ll never leave.

Then, there`s Gus Goose, the comic relief. Gus is lazy, fat, slow and only thinks about eating. In his first appearance, he was unable to talk... Like Gladstone, he’s also a duck/goose hybrid but I think he has total geese passability. In the comics, he`s always sleeping, eating or working and complaining about it, doing things like building a barn or taking care of every animal on the farm... Wait, to build a barn doesn’t really sounds like an easy job... Okay, Gus is canonically very strong, but boy... Grandma wouldn’t be able to bake so many pies if he didn’t work.

There’s actually a comic where Donald replaces Gus and for a day he does every task Gus was supposed to do. Donald is an adventurer who raised three kids on a minimum wage... And he ends up collapsing from exhaustion.

So, my first point: Gus works really hard!

Do you really think Grandma, who’s awesome but also an old lady, could handle a whole farm by herself? Nope! And if so, why does she complain so much about Gus doing nothing... Well, this brings me...

To point two: Gus pretends to be working way less than he really does!

But... Why? Well, Donald and Gus actually have a lot of similar problems (I wonder if they ever talk about it); they both have very proud and stubborn old ducks to take care of. Gus works in the shadows to make Grandma believe she’s really doing everything by herself like good old times!

This pumps her ego and makes her happy. She probably would die from sadness if she found herself unable to work. And I have to say Elvira really doesn’t seem to be the kind of old lady who obeys the doctor to take easy on farming and takes her meds correctly. She probably dismisses all that as “nonsense”. I believe Gus is the one who takes care of Grandma, not the other way around... Okay, he probably is financially dependant on her, but that’s about it. She probably sometimes forgets to do stuff and he immediately covers up for her, pretending he was only sleeping as usual.

There’s this comic where detective Bogart (Apparently named Gokart in English) takes Gus instead of Fethry to solve a case; the case being that Grandma’s farm was abducted by aliens who snatch people when they are sleeping... And because of that, Gus is keeping himself awake for days, and he’s up to do anything to save Grandma. Sleep deprived berserk Gus is ready to kill or be killed to save the farm and Bogart complains he’s even more impulsive than Fethry! It’s pretty cool to see Gus wrecking things up tbh...

And just for throwing in more info, there's this comic Gus is really really stressed from working at the farm (With reinforces that Gus. Works. a. Lot.), and he decides to visit his cousin, and apparently, they’re close. So he goes looking for peace and tranquility at Kildare’s house (I headcanon that they get along because Gus can soothe down most of the animals at the farm; maybe he can calm Kildare too with his calm/lazy aura). Yeah, dumbest idea ever, it doesn’t end up well, Gus ends up having a mental breakdown and Kildare takes him to (his?) a shrink.

Well, that’s an Italian comic, obviously. Italians did a lot of comics focusing on the farm, having Grandma or Gus as protagonists and building them up to be better and more complex characters. Grandma kinda dates Grampa Beagle in some comics and Gus has all sorts of adventures; from trying to get rich fast (Classic duck plot) to working as a detective, to falling in love... But in the end, he always comes back to the farm.

Gus has Grandma to take care of, to give emotional support and to do the heavy work for. While every other adult duck from the family is getting into adventures, into trouble and chasing their dreams Gus is kinda off... Chained to the farm. And I think that’s sweet and caring from his part but also sad, you know? Which brings us finally...

To point three; Gus is postponing his own life to take care of Grandma.

I think he’ll only be able to build his own pathway when she passes away, because right now she’s his main focus. And that’s melancholic... The angst factory in my mind suggests that maybe the reason why Gus sleeps so much is that, actually, he’s depressed. I remember several comics were he seemed to be pretty happy to be in the city, surrounded by people (unlike Elvira). I wonder why he’s living away from his parents and since when he was raised by Grandma...

...And that’s it I think, I wanted to organize my thoughts on the matter while trying to flesh their characterizations up, putting disperse info together in order to show why I think everyone in the Duck Family has interesting traits if you dig a little. Sorry I didn’t put any fonts from my infos; all that stuff is things I remember reading the comics.
