I want soo desperately to know what on earth Jin Ling has been told about the relationship between his grandmother and Wei Wuxian.
Everyone who was around to witness them interact is now either dead or Jiang Cheng, so like, ??? How on Earth has this even come up?

Random Untamed Alchemist Thoughts: Wei Wuxian Edition
Masterpost
~
He is the classified Cool Uncle who makes things explode.
If you think he got the title ‘Untamed Alchemist’ because of his brilliance with wild alchemy, then you’re mistaken. The Jins are to blame, Wei Wuxian just hijacked the nickname because it sounded awesome. Jiang Cheng figuratively rolled his eyes into the next century.
~
Wei Wuxian comes to certain Realisations™ when he sees Lan Wangji cradling a confused (and nearly dog-ified) Sizhui to his chest, then promptly goes nope because absolutely not!! He has things to do!! A brother to fix!! Lan Wangji is just a childhood friend what are you talking about hahahaha....
~
Wei Wuxian knows Jiang Cheng and Lan Xichen have some kind of bet going.
Wei Wuxian, for the life of him, cannot figure out what it’s for.
~
Wei Wuxian and Jiang Cheng know, distantly, that they’re not actually blood brothers, however they were too young to remember anything before their lives came together. All they understand is that Jiang Fengmian brought Wei Wuxian home one day with no other explanation than, “his parents are dead.” and his wife always resented that.
Jiang Yanli often herded the boys away when their parents began arguing. As kids they didn’t fully follow what they were fighting about, but it is something that lingers, if only in the background. They have a lot of confused memories and feelings about their early years.
~
Wei Wuxian has an unhealthy obsession with ignoring the fact that he suffered as well as a result of the botched transmutation.
He often jokes about his automail and lets it fall apart to cover for trauma of not only losing a leg, but then willingly giving up his arm in exchange for Jiang Cheng’s soul.
Getting him to talk about it in any capacity outside of “haha, it broke again! Sorry Lan Zhan!” is a literal nightmare, and while Jiang Cheng sees it and hates it, he is also the worst person to try and broach the topic with, because it can instantly be thrown back at him with, “You suffered worse than me! I’d do it again in a heartbeat! Did you want to die, Jiang Cheng? Don’t even suggest that!”
~
On a lighter note, this exchange has definitely happened:
Wei Wuxian: Jiang Cheng, use your head! *Proceeds to lob Jiang Cheng’s helmet over a very high wall*
Jiang Cheng, who’s connected to the breastplate and not the helmet: ...fuck you.
~
Relating to that, Wei Wuxian and Wei Wuxian alone is allowed to use Jiang Cheng’s armour like this, and as the certified Older Brother (”It’s only by a few months, Wei Wuxian, shut up.”), he’s very protective of that fact.
Most people think it’s because he’s hyper aware that one wrong move could scrub off the blood seal keeping Jiang Cheng’s soul tied to the armour (which, yeah, is kinda true), but it’s mostly because they realised, in those horrible first few months when they were coming to terms with their new reality, that Jiang Cheng can’t fight and squabble to get bits of his armour back.
He can’t feel. And because of that he can’t tell how much pressure he puts into things. And while normally he’s trained himself to be as gentle as he can, he also has a temper, and when it flares he can lose control and actually hurt someone.
So if a random stranger comes along and nicks the helmet as a laugh, Wei Wuxian steps in while Jiang Cheng keeps himself to yelling, so they don’t accidentally cave some asshole’s face in.
Doesn’t stop Wei Wuxian dishing out black eyes, though.
~
Jin Ling is the exception to this, because he’s grown up with Jiang Cheng and understand the limits to his uncle’s patience, and later Lan Sizhui is tentatively allowed to hold the helmet as well.
The other Lans are allowed but only to make sure the armour is still in good shape and under careful supervision. Wei Wuxian has a very good ‘I’m watching you and if you fuck this up you’re dead’ glare.
~
Wei Wuxian, at 1am, very drunk: Jiang Cheng?
Jiang Cheng: Yeah?
Wei Wuxian: What would you have done if I’d put you in a teapot?
Jiang Cheng: Go the fuck to sleep.

A-Yuan for the headcanon ask game pls?
Send a character’s name to receive four different headcanons
Lan Sizhui
Headcanon A: realistic
He makes the most frequent visits to Zewu-jun’s hut out of everyone while he’s in seclusion in part because his uncle never turns him away.
Headcanon B: while it may not be realistic it is hilarious
I think Lan Sizhui often sings to himself under his breath without even realizing it; he used to get in trouble for it when he was younger, but he’s a little bit better about staying quiet while in class or during study periods.
I also think he’s the kind of person that can still sing while going through his forms and drills, not even realizing that he’s showing off. Lan Qiren doesn’t have the heart to scold him for breaking the rules then, however, because at least it’s clearly keeping him breathing correctly. He does eventually learn to sing to himself in his head when on night hunts, but his breathing remains the same.
Headcanon C: heart-crushing and awful, but fun to inflict on friends
Wen Ning ‘outlives’ his tangge’s son.
Headcanon D: unrealistic, but I will disregard canon about it because I reject canon reality and substitute my own.
Rather than actually communicating™ with Wei Wuxian, Jiang Cheng just announces one day at a cultivation conference that ‘Wen Yuan’ is heir to the Yunmeng Jiang Sect. The older Jiang disciples feel a little betrayed at first to hear a Wen will be taking over until a Lan of all people steps forward and then it’s just confusion until they all connect the dots once Wei Wuxian starts freaking out lol. Eventually Jin Ling has to spell out to him that “Jiang jiujiu never stopped being your brother, dumbass,” and then feels ensue.

I know this isnt really your area but youve talked a little about the untamed fashion before. What is up with jin lings hair style? Noone else has beads like that. Its very pretty and honestly id wear it but i feel like im missing something.
i only talked about fashion in terms of stuff i like looking at. 1) not a fashion historian by any means, 2) not a costumer. cql costumes (and other xianxia/wuxia) aren't historical at all, it's all aesthetics. so there was prob some choice to make him look the Fanciest™ of the juniors.
a very fancy boi, the most nephew of all nephews out there - and every uncle of his seems like the type to dote (even as jc is bellowing in anger and threatening to break his legs)
¯\_(ツ)_/¯ wrong person to ask, anon, idk what else to say

What are your thoughts on Zhuiling? I love the ship dynamic (the grumpy, short-tempered one, always making a fuss × the calm, matured one, sweetest boi alive™ - very much like Xicheng lol) but....they're cousins.... And I know some might argue saying they're not actually related by blood but like. Neither are Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian. If you consider those two as brothers then you have to acknowledge that they are cousins. You can't just pick one.
I don't really ship the juniors, and if I was going to ship the juniors I wouldn't be into Zhuiling, but why should that stop me from inflicting my thoughts on the internet at large when I have an opinion that will probably annoy everyone?
Jin Ling and Sizhui are children who were born into mess and then raised in a broader context of yet more mess. It's not that they're not biologically related, it's that they're not biologically related and also were raised apart from each other in ignorance of the multiple layers of unofficial adoption and secretly fake disownment that potentially tied them together. If you meet a cute boy as a teenager, develop a crush on him, and then find out that for about a year of his early childhood he was being raised by your dead mother's estranged foster brother (who she and your uncle loved very much and she explicitly considered to be her brother, but you were raised to think of primarily as your father's murderer), the cute boy in question has no memory of this because of fever induced early childhood amnesia, and then it turns out that said estranged maybe-uncle is dating a man who "acted as father and older brother" to the cute boy, that is simply not your problem. That is your uncle's problem, your other uncle's problem, and your prospective uncle-in-law's problem. If you and the cute boy feel it would be appropriate, under the circumstances, to consider each other cousins that's awesome and adorable. If you decide that doesn't feel right to you and you'd rather suck face, that's also fine. If you're living in some fantasy version of ancient China where (please correct me if I'm wrong, I am not an expert) it was in many times and places considered totally fine to date your mom's brother's kids, you can presumably do both if you really want to! But seriously Jin Ling and Sizhui have no obligation to live their lives in accordance with feelings a bunch of messy adults are barely capable of articulating to themselves. As far as we know Wei Wuxian has never told Sizhui out loud with his words he considers him a son! Jiang Cheng and Wei Wuxian have not officially conveyed to each other that they consider each other brothers! If they were too cousinish for you personally to enjoy the relationship that would be very valid and I would certainly not say you should engage with a ship that grosses you out, but as that is not the case... why wouldn't you just enjoy your ship?

do you think after the end of the show wei wuxian and jiang cheng ever really talk things out and become close again? i don't want to imagine that they say goodbye in that scene and that's it. i want to believe in lan wangji begrudgingly going to family dinners at lotus pier and jin ling pestering his uncles equally and having something *more* than unsaid silences!
hello there anon dear!! YES i absolutely do think they do and no one can change my mind and lucky for us it's been sort of officially confirmed that they do have a reconciliation of a kind in a video posted earlier this year on the official weibo account according to which jiang cheng visits cloud recesses and is very noisy where wangxian are of course living their best life married™ but tbh even if we had no idea what they were all up to post canon i'd be and already was before the video dropped 100% convinced that even if they didn't have a huge heart to heart, one way or another they found their way back to each other, i don't doubt jiang cheng found an opportunity to go to gusu to pick up jin ling after he was out night hunting with the rest of the juniors and wwx and maybe he just happened to run into wei wuxian who was supposed to be out with them and looking after them and automatically started affectionately scolding him the way he had done thousands of times before or maybe they were sitting in a really boring meeting and wei wuxian turned to jiang cheng and started shit talking about an annoying sect leader without thinking it through and slowly they fell back into their old routine and maybe not openly, not at the beginning anyway because god knows i love them but neither of them are the best at clear communication and it'd take a while for anyone in their right mind to process everything that happened between the two of them, but they'd learn to accept and understand one another eventually, i'm sure of it!! and jiang cheng visits them in gusu and they watch over jin ling training and wei wuxian visits him at lotus pier and falls back into the habit of lounging around drinking as he watches sect leader jiang go about his duties and jiang cheng pretends to be grumpy but he definitely smiles when he isn't looking and when he gives wwx an affectionate shove he doesn't even think about all the times he did before that flashed through his mind again and again after finding out about the golden core transfer and of course wwx shoves him back and he throws an arm around his shoulders which jiang cheng pretends to be annoyed about but he lets him and they walk over to the ancestral hall bickering to visit their shijie and make sure that if she's watching over them, she knows they're getting along. [muffled sobbing noises]

Oh, man. That ask about jumping ship over a Yunmeng Siblings Bad Take™ just reminded me of how many times I've abandoned a fic I was otherwise enjoying because it tried to tell me a-Ling's favorite uncle is WWX, or worse, that he thinks the man is cool (???).
I don't run into that kind of thing very often but Jiang Cheng and Jin Ling is one of those places where I can tolerate a range of takes but there's a very steep precipice of opinion past which I will not venture. I don't get it! I don't care to get it! No one would ever.
