Bill Evance "Interplay" 明けましておめでとうございます。 2023年の卯年は「飛躍」「向上」が期待できる年だそうです。その通りになって欲しいものです。 さて、今年もビル・エヴァンスでスタートしたいと思います。 エヴァンスでは評価の分かれる迷盤？、ピアノ・トリオではないクインテットですが、スルーは出来ません。 エヴァンスの超名盤と言えば、エヴァンスらしさで初心者には"Portrait in Jazz"、エヴァンス・マニアより耳の肥えたジャズ・マニアには本作が名盤と言われているようです。何故かは、聴けばなるほどと理解出来ますね。 1962年7月16,17日、Nola Penthouse Studio, New York City録音。本盤は、とても状態の綺麗な重量盤、OJC-308(RLP-9445)、大変有り難い。 最高のパートナーであったスコット・ラファロが享年25歳で自動車事故死した1961年7月6日から、約1年後の録音です。 ところでアルバム・タイトルのインタープレイとは... ｢優れたプレイヤーたちが 共演し、互いに触発し合いながら、素晴らしいインプロビゼーション・ソロを生み出すこと｣ と本作に書かれています。 また... ｢あるプレイヤーの即興演奏に触発された他のプレイヤーが即興で応え、互いに感覚や感性を刺激し合い、競合、共鳴、調和を繰り返しながら共同制作するもの｣ とも。 簡単に言えば、プレイヤーが対等にアドリブで対話し合うこと。 さて、そんなことを期待しながらSumico Pearlを選択し、針を落としてみたいと思います。 まず録音音質ですが、チャンネル・セパレーションや分解能が文句なしに素晴らしい。楽器の音色も繊細でこの奥行き感は、真空管アンプ+フォノイコの威力もかなり感じますね。何でも良く聴こえてしまうかも。ちょっと、アンプを甘く見ていたかも知れません。 強さの出るShure M44-7では、いかがでしょうか。とてもいい。コントラストが効いて、楽器の音色にも艶が出てきます。軽めのバランスにも合っていると思います。 各人のソロが聴き処で、これこそがお互いを認め合い対話するアドリブ・インタープレイ。そのメンバーの組合せも大変興味深く、ここがジャズ・マニアには評価されるのかも知れませんね。 一方で、エヴァンスお得意のピアノ・トリオに、トランペットとギターが絡んだ新しい方向を示唆するクインテット編成の異色盤。なので、ラウンジ・ジャズ的な雰囲気で、全くエヴァンスらしくないところが、一般的には人気のない理由ではないでしょうか。 私は、とても洒落ていると思いますが。いろんなものが聴ける、面白いアルバム。それぞれの持ち味をエヴァンスが上手に引き出しています。こう言うこともやるんだなぁ、とエヴァンスの別の才能に触れた気がします。 ギターのジム・ホールとは、ほんの2か月前に吹き込まれた大名盤"Undercurrent"でデュオ共演。要は、ビル・エヴァンス＆ジム・ホールのデュオにフレディ・ハバード＋パーシー・ヒース＋フィリー・ジョー・ジョーンズと言う凄腕の集まり！ 意外とエヴァンスは控えめです。フレディ・ハバードの超絶技巧ミュート・プレイとパーシー・ヒース＆フィリー・ジョー・ジョーンズの黒さに、エヴァンスが煽られています。MJQでもお目にかかれないパーシー・ヒースのベース・ソロも聴き処ですね。 #BillEvans (p) #JimHall (g) #FreddieHubbard (tp) #PercyHeath (b) #PhillyJoeJones (ds) Producer - #OrrinKeepnews Recording Engineer - #TomNola Album Design - #KenDeardoff Back Liner Photo - #SteveSchapiro Remastered By - #PhilDeLancie Liner Notes - #JoeGoldberg #jazz #fuzey #vinyl #jazzvinyl #vinylcollection #jazzvocal #ジャズシンガー #ジャズ #スイングジャーナル #レコード *作品を知るとジャズはもっと輝きます。情報くださる先輩諸氏に感謝。 https://www.instagram.com/p/Cm23o6Gv0L1/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
