“so what, when you wanna call me you just type in hanbin?” he asks in absolute disgust, his eyes squinting so much he looks genuinely in pain.
“you’re always at the top of my call list, i don’t have to search,” you answer very literally, hoping it acts as damage control.
“the guy you love the most, and i’m just saved as boring old hanbin?”
“well i wouldn’t call you boring…” you tease, earning a scoff, a head shake and even more of a squint.
“change it before i do it for you,” he demands in a teasing way, but you don’t mind following this order. “i can’t believe you’ve lived like this for 2 months.”
you barely hear him continue to talk, too busy concentrating on picking the perfect name that you know he’ll absolutely hate as payback for making a big deal out of it. “there,” you hold the phone out in front of his face.
“jelly,” he reads out, “and a blue heart,” he contemplates it for a moment. you furrow your brows at how long it’s taking for him to start complaining. “i like it, kinda goes well with mine too, sweetie”

you watched over his shoulder as he scrolled your contacts. he found “k” and tutted as his eyes landed on his name.
“can i change it?” he asked cutely, completely switching his act from just a few seconds ago. you nodded straight away. “right, i think “baby” will look nice. with a star and a black heart,” he spoke as he typed.
you smiled as you read and listened to your boyfriend muttering to himself. he was absolutely adorable, he’s definitely worth the endless teasing from your friends.
“okay perfect,” he locked your phone and lazily handed it to you, “and you better not change it back.”

“for real?” he asked, his voice and pitch raised in an offended way.
you pull a face as if to suggest it’s not a big deal, “well, it is your name, jeonghyeon…”
jeonghyeon tuts while rolling his eyes, dramatically, sure, but there’s definitely intention behind it. “babe, boyfriend, honey, love,” he counts on his fingers, “even just jeonghyeonie,” he pulls out his phone, “all things that you’ve called me but noooo.”
you smile at his cuteness, which made him even more riled. “what’s mine saved as?”
“my darling,” he admits, pulling up your contact info and placing it on the table in front of you, donning a pout until you look at him again. “but i can change it to just y/n, no problem.” you look back at his phone, the words make you smile and seeing the little blue heart emoji next to them makes your stomach fill with fluttering butterflies . you hated to admit it, but it did feel good to see it. and the thought of him changing it, well you didn’t even want to think about it.
“no, no, it’s fine, you don’t have to do that,” you locked his phone for him and handed it back to him after picking it up from the table.
“so will you change mine?” his pleading eyes were unavoidable, like a puppy you just can’t say no to. you rolled your eyes and back spaced on his contact name, “save me as “my love” please,”” he urged.
“don’t test your luck, jeonghyeon,” you deadpanned, but followed his directions anyway.

“i have you saved as “my sunshine” and you just have my name?!” seungeon laughs out loud, finding the whole situation hilarious.
“wait,” the laughter died down and your face drops, “i’m your sunshine?” you ask, feeling full of love yet so incredibly guilty. “let me change your name right now, you’re too cute, i swear-”
“you don’t have to, i think it’s funny, y/n, you really don’t need to do that!” the palm of his hand covers your phone screen as he speaks.
your fingers move it out of the way gently as you begin to type “angel” into the box. seungeon completely moves his hand once you’ve finished typing and takes a look, you wait to see his reaction, not once taking your eyes off him.
“yeah you definitely should’ve just left it as my name,” he bursts out laughing again, kicking his feet in the air playfully. you look down to check what you’d written. angle. you’d now saved him as angle. “acute or obtuse? actually, i think i wanna be reflex.”
“that’s because i couldn’t see the screen!” you playfully prod seungeon in the arm. “now, let me change it properly this time.”
when he stopped laughing once again, he took the hand you just poked him with in his “please do. i like the name angel.” his smile was playfully adorable, you couldn’t help but tease him.
“who said it was going to be “angel”? it might have been “eagle”… or “bagel”.”

“oh,” yunseo pouts in an unintentionally cute way.
you instantly feel bad and try coming up with an excuse, “that’s just how i saved it when we met, i had no idea we were going to become… us, and i never got around to changing it because i was just used to seeing it like that,” you stumbled over your words as they left your mouth in hurry.
“it’s fine, i’ll just change yours back to your name too, then,” you think he’s joking until he reaches for his phone.
“NO,” you’re both slightly taken aback by the volume of your voice, so much so that yunseo stops in his tracks, “let me change yours right now.”
“really?” he finally breaks into a smile, a warm, familiar feeling running through your chest, “hmm what to?”
“cutie suits you,” you shy away from his eyes, “and how about i add a heart?” yunseo nods his head, adding a content hum as he knows you can’t see him.
the next thing you know, yunseo is hugging you from behind, watching you type. “the white heart, please. and can you add the teddy bear? i think it’s so cute.”
you turn your head slightly to look at him, resting his chin on your shoulder, “but, what am i saved as?”
“my baby. with the cute black cat and white heart. what do you think?”

“that’s so mean,” junghyun’s hand comes to cover his mouth as he laughs in disbelief.
“is it? why? what am i saved as in your phone, hm?”
“key emoji and a purple heart,” he admits with a proud puff of his chest.
“oh i forgot you’re a closeted millennial,” you roll your eyes to your boyfriend, who’s feeling even more offended now. “how about we both change them, then, how does that sound?”
“great,” you both pull your phones out and delete everything in the name box. “i want to be “my honey” please,” he proclaims.
“i was going to say that,” you both look at each other in shock, before laughing. “well, i guess we can both be each other’s honey, but i’m gonna put a puppy emoji and a purple heart next to yours.”
his smile gets brighter, you always know how to make him happy, “the bunny and the yellow heart for you?” he asked, knowing that you’d say yes.
you put your phones together, the two matching nicknames in bold lettering across both the screens, “perfect,” you both say at the same time.

Overflowing darkness

Author's note: This is based on something that occurred to me the other day(without the boyfie part of course 🤡) so yeah got some inspiration :))

The later it gets the more worry is present in jeonghyeon as you hadn't return from work yet, earning a lot of scolding and clinginess later.
It was around 2 a.m but you still hadn't came back home yet, jeonghyeon was really pissed and mad because of the late hour. You never came that late so he was assuming the worst, his baby was nowhere to be found and he was starting to get quite scared of your current location.
He had called you multiple times, but you didn't answer to any of his calls. It wasn't because you didn't want to answer him tho, it's just that your phone was silenced lol 🤡

You on the other hand was becoming anxious and frightened due to the long walk you were having home, the buses were not active at that hour and you saw the last one go away right in your face.
'Great' you thought to yourself
With no other option left, you decided to start heading back home, walking. It wasn't the best option, you were perfectly aware of that, but what else were you supposed to do?
You could have grabbed a taxi, but you couldn't find one at that moment. So you opted to just ignore your crippling anxiety and go back as soon as possible.
And everything was going quite well, until you started to feel like you were being observed from behind. However, when you turned around there was no one there. You continued your journey with the same sensation still present, so you quickened your pace and decided to forget about it and focus on the front avenue.
Everything was good again, that felling disappeared, but instead it was replaced by little sounds of wood breaking or muffling voices in your back. The creepiness that once was present came back like a powerful storm in the middle of the night making you question your decision of coming back alone.
Your own thoughts and worries were silenced when you noticed an upcoming call from your boyfriend.
"Y/N WHY HAVEN'T YOU PICKED UP MY CALLS?"
"Sorry babe, my phone was silenced"
" WERE ARE YOU?"he screamed furiously
"I'm near the convenience store down the road"
"WHAT? But the bus doesn't take that route?"
"I know, I kinda lost the bus so I've been walking back home"
"YOU WHAT?"
"I'll explain you later, I'm almost there, love ya"you said while hanging up
Damn, he was pissed. REALLY pissed.

Once you were approaching the entrance you saw him leaning on the door frame with a worried expression, and as he saw you he runned directly to your direction bringing you into his embrace hugging you tightly and sniffling into the crock of your neck.
"Thank God you're okay" he whispered, any signs of fury or anger not visible anymore, instead replaced by gratefulness and relieve.
You hugged him back placing your arms around his frame and just enjoying the close proximity between you both.
"Sorry hyeonie, I lost the bus and then I had to walk home alone and I felt like I was being watched and then-"
You were cut off by his finger being pressed onto your lips to keep you from your venting, figuring out you would rather need a more relaxed demeanour to talk things out without feeling overwhelmed.
"Don't worry babe, I'm really sorry for screaming at you, I was just so worried. Why don't we come in and I make you a cup of tea while you tell me about your day?"
You calmed yourself and agreed to his plan hoping that would be a much better option than the previous one.
So he took you inside making you feel right were you belonged, at home. After your explanation he reassured you everything was okay now.
He pressed a loving kiss on your lips making you forget about all your problems and worries and just focusing on the kiss you were sharing with junhyeong.
It was sweet and delicate, yet a little desperate due to all the accumulated emotions inside of you both. Like a taste of black coffee with a kick of milk on it.
When you separated you saw his loving and adoring gace on you bringing you so much comfort and joy to be by his side.
You both decided to call it a day and head off to bead due to the long day you both had. When you positioned yourselves on bed you noticed how he hugged you from behind and wasn't planning on letting you go at all as he nuzzled closer on the nape of your neck.
And he indeed didn't let go of you till the next day, keeping you safe in his arms making all your worries go away ❤️

Lee Jeonghyeon had never meant for this to happen.
He hadn't even believed that beings like you exist before this afternoon. Downtrodden after yet another one of his compositions was rejected by the court's royal orchestra, he decided to take a walk to muster up inspiration for a better song. Roaming through the flowering meadows on a bright summer's day, Jeonghyeon thought his eyes had deceived him when he saw the most exquisite winged creature tending to the blossoms in the field before him.
You carried a wooden basket, picking the prettiest of flowers and tucking them away. Every so often, you'd find one you admired most of all and fashion it behind your ear lithely. An ethereal, golden glow visibly emanated off of your skin.
No matter how many times Jeonghyeon blinked or rubbed his eyes, the transfixing beauty remained in front of his gawking figure. Taking a deep breath to steady himself, he stepped quietly toward you as your iridescent wings fluttered gently in the soft wind.
"Sneaking up on me?" You asked the handsome boy without turning around.
You heard him gasp lightly. "I'm sorry. What--... What are you?"
You tucked a baby's breath that had bloomed just perfectly behind your ear as you turned around to face him, smiling knowingly. "What are you?"
"I--... I--..." The young man struggled to find words. "... I'm Jeonghyeon."
You giggled at the cute, simple human before you. "What's a Jeonghyeon?"
"It's my name," he clarified timidly, ears turning crimson.
You nodded, considering it. "Jeonghyeon... How pretty."
"Thank you," he replied, biting his lip nervously. "Will you tell me what you are now?"
You turned back around to the flowers, touching the wild lavender fondly. "What do you think I am?"
"An angel," he answered quickly. "Something entirely divine."
You laughed lightly at the mortal's words. "You humans are so funny," you cooed, picking the prettiest blossom of lavender. Turning back to the boy, you stepped towards him gently and tucked the lavender behind his ear. "Do these look like angel wings?"
Jeonghyeon's eyes lit up as you fluttered your shimmering, translucent wings for him. "I don't know. I've never met an angel before."
"And you never will," you replied with a smile, running a finger gracefully along one side of his sharp jawline.
His lips parted slightly in awe. "You're the loveliest thing I've ever seen."
You nodded, laughing the mortal's affections off. "This is not the first time I've been told."
He shakes his head fiercely. "You don't understand. What once was small, my heart is bigger-- now that my eyes have seen you, I can't see the future without your image," he pleads, words flowing out in perfect poetry as he sinks to his knees. "From this moment on, I paint in the paint that is you."
It takes more effort than you imagined to keep a straight face. This Jeonghyeon spoke so beautifully-- so sincerely, in a way a mere human never had before. They usually just stared at you or tried to kiss you or, even worse, cause harm to you. Unsure of how to react to these vows, you shrunk down to your normal size and started to fly away from the stunned boy.
But you felt the emotion in the air change, panic radiating off of Jeonghyeon as he reached his hand into the air after you. Enclosing you so gently in his palm, he clasped his hands together to securely entrap you in his grasp-- leaving a small gap in his fingers for adequate air to pass through.
No, Lee Jeonghyeon had never meant for this to happen...
And yet here you are: locked in a delicately woven cage, a piece of red ribbon tied loosely around both wrists.
"Are you alright?" Jeonghyeon asks, eyes wide with concern as he studies you.
You nod carefully, the red ribbon twirling delicately with the breeze flowing through the open window behind you.
"I didn't hurt you? Please, say I didn't hurt you," he panics. You shake your head softly in reply.
"Thank goodness," he says, running a hand through his hair with a rather stressed expression on his face. "Are you hungry? Or thirsty?"
You shake your head again, looking around Jeonghyeon's small cottage. You spot a desk in the corner with several pieces of parchment strewn about, a pen and quell of ink beside them.
"Well, when you are, please let me know," Jeonghyeon urges with an awkward smile.
"Do you write?" You ask, gesturing with a nod to the corner desk.
"Oh," the boy acknowledges with a small laugh after turning around to see what you're referring to. "Yes. Lyrics."
"You're a songwriter," you affirm, smiling up at him. You knew that the boy had had a very distinct way with words.
He smiles back. "Yes... Well... I'd like to be one. Someday. But I've had a lot of trouble finding the right subject to write about."
"Is that so?" You tilt your head to one side, reaching out your ribbon-bound hands. Jeonghyeon's eyes sparkle as he extends his index finger through the cage, to which you grab hold of tenderly and examine. Noting the callouses from his pen, you trace along the grooves of his fingerprint.
"But I think I've serendipitously run into the perfect subject," he announces, nodding with certainty. "I'm truly sorry that I've captured you like this. I promise I'll let you go as quickly as I can... But I just know you'd make the most beautiful song."
Unbeknownst to Jeonghyeon, you can choose to escape at any time. No cage can hold you and no ribbon can withstand your glowing magic; even the boy's hands could have been easily burnt by your power if you had wished.
But there is one thing holding you here:
The compelling, handsome young man staring back at you through the cage in curious wonder-- who has promised to write you a song.
