"2 Deep" is a song by the American hip hop duo Gang Starr, which was released on the album "Daily Operation" in 1992. The song was produced by DJ Premier and features verses from both members of Gang Starr, Guru and DJ Premier. The album "Daily Operation" was Gang Starr's third studio album, it was released on April 14th, 1992 by Chrysalis Records. The album was well received by critics and is considered a classic in hip hop. Gang Starr was an American hip hop duo formed in Boston, Massachusetts in 1985. The group was composed of MC Guru and DJ Premier. Gang Starr is considered one of the most influential and respected hip-hop groups of all time, and they are known for their jazz-influenced beats and socially conscious lyrics that reflect on the struggles of inner-city life and the importance of self-awareness and self-empowerment. The group released six studio albums throughout their career, before the passing of the MC, Guru in 2010.

People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm" es el álbum debut del grupo neoyorquino A Tribe Called Quest, lanzado en 1990. El álbum fue realizado por los integrantes del grupo el DJ y productor Ali Shaheed Muhammad y las habilidades liricales de los MCs de Q-Tip y Phife Dawg.El álbum fue muy bien recibido por la crítica y es considerado uno de los mejores álbumes de rap de todos los tiempos. Fue el inicio de la carrera del grupo y marcó el comienzo de una nueva era del rap en Nueva York.A Tribe Called Quest se formó en Queens, Nueva York, en 1985. El grupo fue uno de los pioneros del jazz rap y fue conocido por sus letras positivas y sus sampleos de jazz y soul. 

Obtuvo la certificación de oro en los Estados Unidos el 19 de enero de 1996. Su reconocimiento se ha extendido a lo largo de los años, ya que es ampliamente conocido y considerado como un álbum central en el hip hop alternativo con su producción y lirismo poco convencionales. También se le atribuye la influencia de muchos artistas tanto en el hip hop como en el R&B. En un artículo conmemorativo de XXL , Michael Blair escribió que " People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm fue inmensamente innovador y mantendrá eternamente su relevancia dentro de la cultura y la construcción del hip-hop".

En la década de 1990, Nueva York se convirtió en la capital del rap y el hip hop. Muchos artistas emergieron en este momento, incluyendo a Public Enemy, Wu-Tang Clan y Notorious B.I.G. El rap se convirtió en una voz para las comunidades marginadas y muchos artistas utilizaron sus letras para abordar temas sociales y políticos.

Antes de grabar su álbum "People's Instinctive Travels and the Paths of Rhythm", el miembro del grupo Q-Tip creó gran parte de la producción del mismo en cintas de casete cuando estaba en décimo grado, varios años atrás. Su primera experiencia en estudio fue mientras grababa con Jungle Brothers en su álbum debut "Straight out the Jungle" (1988), aunque fue una experiencia de aprendizaje, adquirió más conocimientos de grabación y producción al estar presente en todas las sesiones de "3 Feet High and Rising" (1989) de De La Soul. El ingeniero de grabación Shane Faber le enseñó a Q-Tip cómo usar equipos como los samplers E-mu SP-1200 y Akai S950, y poco después, el renombrado productor Large Professor le enseñó a usar otros equipos, lo cual expandiría la producción de "People's Instinctive Travels". we did it. it’s live. MADE FROM DUST AND DREAMER'S BLOOD has been released into the world. it's a peculiar feeling; a precious emotion that i hope to harness and remember forever. this project is all and everything to me, creatively it’s without a doubt the greatest thing i have ever been a part of. its narrative and direction is completely selfish. a coming of age album to which the content has spanned a lifetime. in particular it’s the writings and expressions of a early 20s human going from being free and wreck-less to being married and having a child. this is my diary. a commentary of the last 10 years. a love letter to the memories we made, to the people i loved, those I still love and those who shaped the person i have become. it may not be to everyone's liking but i hope you’re able to find something in it that means something to you. we made this. this is ours. this is made from dust and dreamer’s blood. thank you to everyone who has shared this journey with me, from the making of the songs to the making of memories that created them.

"Kollage" es el primer álbum de estudio de la rapera estadounidense Bahamadia, lanzado en 1996 bajo el sello discográfico Chrysalis Records. Fue producido principalmente por DJ Premier, N.O. Joe, Da Beatminerz y Guru, cuenta con colaboraciones de otros artistas como The Roots, K-Swift y Mecca Starr. El álbum es considerado como un clásico del rap underground y es apreciado por su producción musical y las habilidades de rap de Bahamadia. Las letras del álbum son introspectivas y reflexivas, y hablan sobre la vida en la ciudad, el racismo, la lucha y el amor propio. Bahamadia utiliza un estilo de rap relajado y fluido, y su voz suave y cálida se complementa bien con los beats producidos por DJ Premier.

"Kollage" recibió críticas positivas de los medios especializados en hip hop y fue un éxito comercial moderado.
