Spent today on the sofa, barely conscious after an INCREDIBLE photography assignment in Iceland. Stayed in a beautiful cottage, miles from anywhere, with a brilliant school, on tour for 4 days. : I checked several things off my bucket list, including glimpsing the Aurora Borealis, visiting volcanoes and waterfalls, and meeting Icelandic horses. : This is Tie-Dye Side-Eye Geoff. View for the afternoon. I didn't realise how much I needed this break in this stunning resort, until I walked into the sea and calming waves literally smashed all the stress out of my body. : I've done my best to ignore the cries of "oh but didn't you just holiday in Thailand last year??" and "bloody hell Jay you are ALWAYS on holiday!" as well as (and this is my fave), "god wedding photography is so glamorous, just travelling everywhere and snapping pics!" : The thing is, I work my goddamn ass off, so much so that for the last few weeks I've been in a daze, doing weddings, photo shoots and hitting deadlines. Getting thousands of images edited, creating beautiful galleries, dealing with my current clients whom I adore more than they know or realise. : And there's all the extra work I do OUTSIDE of my job as a photographer! My brilliant friends who are close to me will know that, quite literally, I never seem to stop. At work, at life, at anything. I'm always working, in some way, because i want to be the best person I can possibly be. : So...yeah. This is my view. And it's GLORIOUS. And even though I'm lying here thinking "ok so a wedding here would be stunning, how would I work the light? Where would be the best place for photos? Would the couple be cared for? I wonder if I could photograph them in the sea?" Accurate representation of my jangled brain lately. I feel a bit all over the place, in good ways and bad, and everything is criss-crossing, making me really unsettled - I'm a human being, it's inevitable, under the current circumstances. I know the (HOPEFULLY!) impending house move will be a big factor, but I'm having recurring nightmares and unsettling thoughts about all sorts of unrelated things. : I reeeeeeally need a bit of reassurance and peace.
