Ball Guy from Pokémon Sword and Shield Gets Official Emoji, Internet Thrusts in Excitement

Out of all the controversies dividing the fandom from the latest Pokémon games, Sword and Shield, one aspect that literally everyone can agree on; Ball Guy is the best. To celebrate Ball Guy, the official Pokémon accounts in Japanese and English have been taken over by the dashing guy, with an official emoji attached to a hashtag (in Japanese).

The Japanese account promised that if the hashtag was used a certain amount of times, Ball Guy would give out some free Poké Balls. And boy was the hashtag used...

Love for Ball Guy poured out all over Twitter, with the hashtag going from being used 35,600 times to just shy of 120,000 times in just a few hours, becoming the top trending hashtag in Japan. Masaaki Iwane, a long-time animation director and animator on the Pokémon anime, even joined in on the fun (embedded above), asking Ball Guy for "ordinary PokéBalls please."

Ball Guy could barely keep up the thrusts but made good on giving out some balls to everyone. For players of Pokémon Sword and Shield, if you go to Mystery Gift, and inserting the two codes will net you some of Bally Guy’s precious balls. If you use the code “1YAHAYA,” you’ll be gifted a Heavy Ball, a Lure Ball, and a Beast Ball. Using the code “K0UN1NMASC0T,” will gift you a Fast Ball, a Moon Ball, and a Level Ball. And the final code "0KUGAFUKA1B0RU" gets you a Love Ball, a Friend Ball, and a Dream Ball. The codes work until January 15.

You can show your support for Ball Guy on Twitter by using the two hashtags (in Japanese), “#ボールガイ” (Ball Guy) or “#ボールガイチャレンジ” (Ball Guy Challenge). It’s not known if Ball Guy will present us with more of his balls, but we can only hope.

"A masterstroke from Poch" - Loads of Spurs fans react on Twitter after key man is rewarded

Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to react after Jan Vertonghen was named as the Champions League Player of the Week after his heroic performance against Borussia Dortmund.

The Belgian international shone against the Bundesliga leaders, assisting Heung-min Son’s opening goal before doubling his side’s lead with a thumping volley from Serge Aurier’s cross.

Vertonghen was playing in a left wing-back role, away from his usual centre-back position, and it proved to be a masterstroke by Mauricio Pochettino who can largely owe his side’s victory to the former Ajax man for his stupendous performance.

The 31-year-old also made four interceptions and three clearances as he also carried out his defensive duties against Lucian Favre’s dangerous league leaders to round off what was a thoroughly commanding display.

Naturally, Tottenham fans are extremely proud of their player for winning such an award, and have taken to Twitter to heap praise on the defender for his fantastic showing as Spurs put one foot in the quarter-finals…

Mr. Effort

I was once labeled as Mr. Effort by a few people cause I’m a sucker for doing something with an extra mile. I think it might have started way back when I was in high school. Those were the days when I had to literally just drink water by the fountain as a stomach filler for the whole day since I was trying to save my daily allowance to buy video games instead. Then I had my first love. Everything quickly shifted from games to a love drug addiction. I was still doing the same habit of not eating anything at all but instead of buying things for myself, I prioritized my allowances on trip and food expenses for my ex back then. Like every other dismissal, I had to rush to the train station and get some random food that I pass by then get to her place as fast as possible. The remaining money then is spent for a quick taxi ride back home before my curfew hits since commute transfers from that place will take me atleast 2 hours. Fast forward, I still have that habit of doing an extra mile on certain things. I do hate it at times cause I tend to tunnel vision on what I just want rather than being practical. On the other hand, I do enjoy exerting effort for that one glimpse of smile. Idk maybe I’m just plain stupid at times or just simply care that much for people that I cherish.
