Wednesday morning marked a significant milestone for the 27 wards of the city, as the inaugural visit of the garbage van brought anticipation and excitement to the streets. At the helm of this endeavor was Mayor Abhay Dare, who ceremoniously flagged off 25 garbage vans from the corporation office at 8 am. The sight of these vehicles rolling out sparked a wave of enthusiasm among the residents, signaling the beginning of a new era in waste management.

As the garbage vans made their way into the wards accompanied by a theme song, the atmosphere was electric with anticipation. In Bhagat Singh Ward, the arrival of the vehicle was greeted with a traditional gesture of breaking coconuts, symbolizing a warm welcome to this much-needed service. With the commencement of door-to-door garbage collection across the entire city, the campaign to keep Sagar clean and green was officially underway. However, minor delays were experienced in some areas on the first day of implementation.

Mayor Abhay Dare reiterated the commitment to extend door-to-door garbage collection to all 48 wards of the city. Sagar stands out as the pioneering city in the state to implement this progressive scheme, with 21 wards already experiencing a positive response to the initiative.

The garbage vans promptly began their rounds, reaching the following wards: Parkota, Bhagwanganj, Vitthalnagar, Guru Gobind Singh, Subhashnagar, Tulsinagar, Lal Bahadur Shastri, Sant Kanwarram, Santarvidas, Bhagat Singh, Vallabhnagar, Motinagar, Chandrashekhar, Katra, Jawaharganj, Rampura, Itwari, Gandhi Chowk, Ravi Shankar, Narayawali Naka, Mohannagar, Rajivnagar, Vivekananda, Santbir, Keshavganj, Chakraghat, and Bariyaghat wards.

Regarding the financial aspect, it was agreed upon that there would be no charges for the initial six months of service. Following this period, the Corporation Council will determine the monthly fee, estimated to range between Rs 40 to 50. Mayor Abhay Dare expressed confidence in the public's willingness to support this nominal fee, emphasizing its importance in sustaining the waste management infrastructure. Nagarjuna Reddy, the company's Sagar Incharge, confirmed the deployment of 45 vehicles across the 48 wards, with an additional three vehicles designated for emergency services.
