The horrifying fandom takes and theories it's generated aside, one of things I really love about Ted Lasso is the way it handles motherhood/babies/the future for its two main female characters. Like, on the one hand is Rebecca who so obviously and vocally has always wanted to be a mother, but married someone who didn't feel the same way and put her own desires aside for his, then had that fact thrown back in her face years later after he's abused and divorced her and gotten another woman pregnant.

A big part of Rebecca's arc is the constant frustration of having to accept the hand life's dealt her even when it's the opposite of everything she'd always wanted for herself. She's someone who wanted to be a wife and wanted to be mother and then finds herself in middle age as neither of those things. Then she makes the decision to pursue it on her own (which was awesome, I love that they showed her going to the fertility clinic and inquiring about whether pregnancy was a possibility for her! there's not way to become a mother!) and then she has to face her inability to get pregnant. And it sucks! but as sad as that is, it's also very...real? And the show doesn't miraculously let her have a miracle pregnancy anyway (like stupider shows would do, tbh), but instead has Rebecca come to terms with herself and her life under its new circumstances. She finds purpose outside of the things she once thought she would be and the roles her younger self assumed she would play as an adult. By the final episode, she's calling Richmond her family! She's realized what she wants most is the stay at the Club. She's come into her own. And then, yeah, there's the little ambiguous opening of Matthijs and his daughter and her possible future there with them--but importantly it isn't the end all to her happiness, anymore. It's a sign that she still has opportunities, just maybe not in the way she first envisioned, that no doors have closed forever and that what she's been looking for might come from unexpected places. there's no timeline!

And then you have Keeley, who's in her 30s and focused on her career and still figuring out how she wants that to look and who she wants to be. And yeah she's dating, and she has a serious onscreen relationship, but the topic of children (or marriage for that matter) never even once comes up! It's not made some big arc about how she doesn't want those things, and it's not some big fight with Roy or a goofy "really, you've never thought about babies?' conversation with Rebecca, it's just never something that's made relevant to her character nor her growth! She's a whole person without those things and she's clearly not actively pursuing them. And these two women with very different goals and wants are completely supportive of one another--it's never even a question :)

I thought both of their storylines in that sense were very refreshing to see on TV and like, comforting? If anything, the discourse it's spawned has been very...eye-opening...about how conditioned people have become to expect traditional marriage and babies storylines from every single female character. But the show doesn't give in to that mentality and instead shows that there's not one way a family has to look and not one way to be a mother and there isn't a set timeline for any of this stuff even if later you change your mind. And then if things don't turn out how you think, it doesn't mean you aren't going to end up with a good life! that was such a good message.

things from these days i loved 💓 #5:

guess who couldn't hear her alarm again 😙 thank god its only trial week so I don't think attendance matters yet. the courses yesterday were a bit,,, not it but i have a full day of cinema and photography ahead! 💖

I also got accepted into the homestay program and im going to meet a family soon!! <3

I also managed to get a hold of a suica card! basically they are tokyo's transportation card BUT they are currently mega hard to find because of a chip shortage. and let's say I was going crazy over the tokyo metro every single time I had to buy a ticket. its sooo complicated. and i always made everybody wait :( it got delivered super fast and the seller even put a small origami inside the package <3

wednesday was also a nice lovely day <3 after we were all done with lessons (one of which was absolutely bonkers, but at least i met a. again) me f. & k. went to eat out at ikebukuro and I had great sushi!!! I'm also glad we got to hang out with k. in a smaller setting because I'm kind of having a hard time understanding if he wants to be friends lol but seems so!!! (he made me try a station vending machine exclusive type of water that literally turns into jelly lol it was fun!!)

I also attended my one and only literature course and the professor seems very nice and part of the exam is just making a playlist for one of the short stories we're going to read and how cool is that!!! (italy could neverrr)

ive been super busy during trial week (basically you get to attend every course you want to check them out but then you have to decide and register officially, so ive been attending so many classes) so ive been eating lunch outside. im trying some konbini stuff and surprisingly their egg sandwiches are DIVINE i thought i would like them the least!!!

I also had some more awesome cinema related classes <3<3<3<3 i have a course thats called japanese film in comparative perspective but the professor essentially made it a socialising class where japanese students and international students can mingle and the exam is just making an ACTUAL movie together!!! and then at the end we will be hosting a uni academy ceremony (how FUN and CUTE is that!!!!)

It was also very funny because f. came to attend this one film class with me despite it really not being his thing and he was soooo uncomfortable with it all, he so wanted to run and he actually did at the first chance lmao

The movie class i had right after was also soooooo interesting...... im like overwhelmed by the amount of classes i want to take lol

we finally settled on the okinawa trip!!!!!!!! 💖💖💖 im so happy the guys were supportive of my idea, it has been on my bucket list FOREVER and I still haven't processed that I'll actually be in naha!!!!!!!!!!!! it's me, f. & j. so far (my bestiesss <3) but we could potentially invite two more people and we are,,, pondering 👀 id really be fine with just them, because the only other person I feel would not ruin the vibes is k. but hes settled on going north all on his own. maybe e. would be fun but I haven't spoken to him much!!! and f. and. j. both really like h. but he literally doesn't talk to me lmao we'll see 👀

we also finally ate takoyaki from the food truck outside campus and it was DELICIOUS <3<3<3

I have a super busy day ahead pray for me!!! I'll also have to explain to the japanese teacher that im still jet lagged and I couldn't go yesterday so I can't hand in my homework today sigh sigh sigh but I'll live 🙏🏻 and then I have all the photography course!!!

good morning, friends! im exhausted and only got like four hours of sleep, but at least im (kind of) mentally prepared to revisit the episode, so (you probably know the drill by now), here’s all my commentary and thoughts and stuff from the episode!

"im sorry, i was just joking around with my friend, i didnt mean to insult you" yeah, okay, well thats only part of the problem. other problems are: a. the fact that you had to say such a horrible thing in order to joke around with your friend. if that's the kind of humour your friend has, that person should not be your friend, unless it's also your humour, in whcih case, that isnt a sincere apology. b. it's not just that you insulted gun. you also insulted an entire community of people, of students, of human beings, who just want to exist and live as people doing what they want to do. you cant say something homophobic and then only apologise because it hurt one person close to you. you say something homophobic, and then you apologise - in a way that you GENUINELY MEAN - and say you had no intention of hurting so many people, including gun. or, alternatively, dont say the homophobic thing in the first place. c) you’re a freaking TEACHER. a TEACHER is there to SUPPORT and CARE for ALL of their students. a TEACHER should not be saying terrible things where ANYONE could overhear. if a TEACHER cannot be supportive for ALL STUDENTS, then they should not be a teacher. Confection

For the holiday this year I offer you a culinary AU I’ve been thinking about for basically forever but only now started to write down. It’ll be in parts, as I chip away in the spare minutes, with littler bits of story at a time, as when I first ventured contributions to this surpassingly wonderful fandom, years ago. I miss those long-gone Bering-and-Wells days: the speed, the inventiveness that so many brought to bear... anyway, however many parts this ends up being, it’s all just for fun. (And maybe a little ontological inquiry. Also just for fun.)

In any case, on this random Sunday, I wish everyone their preferred form(s) of activity and/or rest, as appropriate. Good feelings. Whatever it is we’re here for.

“Cutthroat.”

So says the talking head on screen in response to the offscreen question, “Describe your style in the kitchen in one word, Chef Helena Wells.”

“Chef Myka Bering, describe your style in the kitchen in one word.”

“One word? That’s a challenge. Diligent? I’m really diligent. Or, no: focused. I definitely think ‘focused’ is more descriptive.”

Senior Producer Claudia Donovan, upon viewing this footage, had said to the editor sitting next to her, “Can you cut that to ‘focused’ and make it sound decisive?” But then she let herself have a second thought. “You know what? Leave it all in. Compare and contrast.”

Cutthroat Wells first, indecisively diligent and/or focused Bering second... the third competitor’s response had been, in retrospect, hilarious. Claudia did appreciate how radically his pronouncement had failed to match his performance: “Awesome,” Walter Sykes had described himself, with no sense of irony whatsoever. He’d been cast as a sacrificial lamb in the first place, but Claudia still snorted at the completely useless dudebro swagger.

The fourth chef, Artie Nielsen, had been brusque rather than bro, but with no less swagger. “Classic,” he’d said, like the idea of anybody even asking the question was a “don’t you know who I am” insult. The editor angled a glance at Claudia and said, “You were real with him about what show he was on, right?”

“The old-school thing sets up the B plot,” Claudia told her. “He’s known all three judges for decades.”

“Don’t you think the A’s a lot more fun?” the editor said. She clicked quick on the Wells “cutthroat” clip—and Claudia had never in her life heard such an all-facts no-swagger saying of a word—followed by a bit of the Bering: “I definitely think,” Chef Myka said, as if in answer to the editor’s question.

“I definitely think,” Claudia echoed decisively.

“The name of our show,” Steve Jinks explains, as he does every week at the start of the program proper, after the contestants have described their styles, “is ‘This Without That.’ What this means, contestants, is that in each of three rounds, you will be asked to prepare a classic dish... but without its defining ingredient.”

“You gotta do it,” Pete Lattimer had said. “Because it’d be so cool. Gottagottagotta.”

Myka was leaning against the at-last-closed-for-the-night door of the restaurant where they both worked—Myka as sous chef, Pete grilling and frying—and she wanted to ignore him, for her fatigue weighted her such that she could barely convince her spine to support her head. Forcing that head to lift, accompanied by actually working her jaw, felt well beyond possible.

And she would have ignored him, but she was the idiot who’d made the mistake of telling him about “it”: a producer from “This Without That,” the wildly popular cooking competition show, had called to express interest in having her compete next month (next month being August) for their Christmas championship, to air in December.

Having been that idiot, she couldn’t ignore him, but she was regretting the telling, so now she said, “No I don’t. I don’t ‘gotta’ do anything.”

“But you wanna.”

“I don’t ‘wanna’ do anything either. And as for this, I don’t want to do it.”

First, television. Second, a competition. Third, a Christmas competition. In August. She didn’t want to. In fact she’d rather have gnawed off her knife hand than do it. But then Pete moved from “gotta” and “wanna” (Myka hated those pseudo-word elisions) to “hafta,” adding “for the restaurant”—the one they planned to partner to open someday, when they had saved enough money and/or could talk investors into believing in them—and Myka gave in. “I’ll try,” she told him, and she meant she’d try not to tank her upcoming interview with the producer, Claudia Donovan. She told him that too... but for integrity’s sake, she added, “I hate the whole idea of that show. ‘This Without That.’ It seems so dumb.”

He waved a hand at her, but slowly, showing that he was tired too. “Little piece of non-tanking advice: don’t say that to this producer. Besides, a hugeity-huge-huge audience loves it, which means it’s smart. Say that instead.”

That, she did ignore. “Smart? It’s insipid.” Mimicking Steve Jinks, the show’s host, she quoted his dismissal of each round’s losing contestant: “Unfortunately, this competition will continue without you.”

“I knew you watched it,” Pete crowed.

Ugh. “Once.” She didn’t tell him why. “But it bothered me.”

“Bothered you because you knew you could do better at making a thing without its major thing, right? Say that’s why.” He added, “And by the way, I know you could too. So you should say it twice.”

His faith was sweet, but she told him the truth: “No. It bothered me ontologically.” She didn’t expect him to understand, but she tried to explain anyway. “Beef Wellington without the beef, for example, like they did in the one I saw. That’s just... Something Else Wellington. And then at the end, the judges pick whose Something Else Wellington they like best. The beef part—the constitutive element!—falls by the wayside. The thing itself doesn’t even matter anymore.”

Pete shook his head. “It’s like you don’t understand games. Something Else Wellington is the whole idea. If it isn’t Something Else Wellington, then it isn’t Beef Wellington without the beef. You’re just ticked that the judges don’t spend all their tasting time splitting ontological hairs about how close to beef that Something Else really is. Or isn’t. Whichever way makes you happier, but it doesn’t matter, because that isn’t what they’re there to do.”

Myka hadn’t known he would—could—come up with “splitting ontological hairs.” That was another point in favor of her trying not to tank.

Also (and she’d been thinking about this since the call from Claudia Donovan): her parents. They were reasons that were maybe (okay, probably) on par with “for the restaurant,” because if she could she impress them by being on television... she really did hate the clichéd nature both of their objections to her career—their dismay that she wasn’t “using that brain”—and of her response, a heels-dug-in “I’ll show you.” These several years on, they hadn’t yet acknowledged being shown. Maybe television would be the charm. Maybe if they could switch a channel and discover Myka there, doing what she did... maybe that would finally do that work of showing.

Pete said, “They judge based on creativity, too—how out-there a Something Else idea you come up with. Imagination what? Plus you gotta do it fast. Thinking on your feet, right? Don’t you love all that?”

As adept as Pete could be at saying the wrong thing, he was also, sometimes, exceptional at saying the right thing. “Using my brain?” she queried, just to make sure.

He nodded, and Myka was pretty sure it was because he knew the history: the family, the pain points. She’d inflicted versions of it on him so many times. “Think it’s a smart idea now?” he asked, at his most canny.

Show them not only by being on television, doing what she did, but also by “using that brain” on television. To do what she did. To do it better than other people. To at last, in the end, show them. “Maybe,” she hedged, but her overriding thought was Yes, yes, at long last yes.

Not for one instant did it occur to her that she might not win.

Claudia had started on TWT in the casting department, over two years ago. Even though evaluating potential talent wasn’t technically her job anymore, she did like to tinker. Particularly if she sensed a good story brewing.

When Myka Bering walked in—no, she loped in, her legs looking about as long as Claudia was tall—Claudia really hoped the good-story pings she’d been sensing were real radar.

There was truly no time like the right-now to see what was what, so Claudia said, first thing after introductions: “Just FYI, Helena Wells is already locked as a cheftestant on this one. I hear you know each other.”

Myka, who’d been settling into the chair across from Claudia’s desk, froze.

So far so good, Claudia thought. But then she thought again, as she observed Myka’s dart of eyes, followed by a small-but-visible twist of neck, both signaling obvious discomfort: No... so far so spectacular.

it feels like its been a month since she started ignoring you. really its only been a few days but man, the tears you have shed for this one person that you thought you would be with forever is not worth your time. cause you're awesome and deserve better than that

you've been sitting with your friend bitna and her friends cause thankfully those weren't your only friends, and they've been really supportive of everything, regardless of knowing close to nothing of whats happening to you.

but the one person that has been though everything with you is your childhood friend...

you met in 5th grade, two years before your other friends, and he's been there for you ever since. he's the friend that you dont necessarily hang out with all the time, but when you see each other in the hallway you always make eye contact. he's always been the first person to find you and make you feel better when you're sad.

you've always known that you feel something more than a friend. but do you have time for that? no you're a high school student what are you talking about?

but lately you've been neglecting him, just trying to keep the drama away. all your emotions and school plus your romanic feelings? no that's a bad mix of feelings. feelings suck

back to real life, still in math. math has never been your best subject but you can survive and at lease get a b or something. thank god there is at least one friend in the friend group you've been sitting with is in every one of your classes.

'y/n, cmon its lunch. you gonna sit with us again?' bitna asked

your brain finally came back to the real world.

'huh? oh oh yea, if thats ok.' you answered, still feeling a bit bad for 'invading' the friend group.

'you never have to ask to sit with us. we like you with us. plus I dont want you feeling bad anymore. its making me sad too'. you smiled at your friends kindness.

'thanks'

you made your way to the field where they sit and sat down with the others. you failed to notice beomgyu staring at you from the other side of the field. you still felt a bit uncomfortable sitting with them so you tried to read while why gossiped about guys and who they think they like and what girls are going to make what sports team. you tried to block it all out until you heard your name.

'oh yea 'y/n knows him! dont you y/n?'

everyone was looking at you and bitna's eyes were glowing with wonder.

'wait what? who do I know?'

'CHOI BEOMGYU. YOU KNOW HIM RIGHT?!'

you slapped your hand over her mouth trying to keep the attention off of you. but sadly the whole field knew. you looked around the area scanning for any sign of the friends your trying to avoid. before you knew it, the one and only choi beomgyu started walking over to you with a smirk and two other friends behind him.

'you bracing about me y/n?' he asked you with a teasing sound to his voice. you glared at him.

'shut up. I didnt say your name idiot. now fuck off.'

oof. now that hurt. he knew something was wrong but he didnt think it was that bad that you would call him an idiot. he walked over to your side while you didnt even give him a second glance. he leaned over your shoulder and whispered in your ear,

'y/n i know something is wrong. why dont you just tell me?'

you shoved him to the side getting him away from you, again still not looking him in the eyes. he looked at you for a second in disbelief. his face changed. he grabbed your hand harshly and tugged you away from the group. you dragged you through the hallway and finally to the entrance and made you sit down on the low wall outside the school. he put his hands on either side of your hips, making you eye level with him.

'what the fuck is wrong with you?! whats up that's making you so unhinged with everything?! you never answer my texts or calls, never look at me in the hall way, and now you tell me to fuck off?! what the hell dude?!'

he had an angry look in his eyes while yelling at you from what felt like a cementer away from yours. and that's it. that was all you had left in you. you broke. you started crying from all the emotions stored up for all the emotions stored up inside. he just look at you in surprise as you just started breaking down infant of his eyes.

'hey hey. im sorry I yelled. please stop crying. oh shit I dont know how to deal with emotions-'

you continued to cry and he just stood there and let you. he didnt say anything until your cries died down to a quiet hiccups.

'y/n. cmon look at me. whats happening? you know you can tell me'.

you did as he said. you told him everything that has been happening, stressing you out, making you feel sad in general. why wouldn't you? he's the one person that has been with the through it all. he stared at you a bit fish eyed as he tried to conceal with anger mixed with sympathy mixed with every emotion ever. when you were finally done, he took in one big deep breath.

'how would you feel if I told you something that might make you feel really happy or even more stressed.' you looked in his eyes, his eyes that are normally filled with mischievousness, but right now were filled with honesty. you looked away.

'I dont know beomgyu...'

'what if I told you its something that's been stressing me out' he cut you off. you looked at him again.

'ok then if you put it like that. shoot'.

'I love you'

you looked at him with wide eyes, then smiled and looked down with your hand on your face.

“Please just look at me while I confess, after that you can look anywhere you like, I swear.”

you finally made eye contact with his and say his deep brown eyes. you forgot the butterflies it gave you to look at him like that.

'look. I've always had feelings for you ever since the first day we met in 5th grade. you make me happy to be around and every time you smile I get massive butterflies and I just wanna smiled too. it fucking hurt when you started ignoring me this year y/n. I thought you hated me.' he was starting to tear up. you could feel it.

'Not only am I deeply in love with you, you’re my best friend. I want to be with you forever. and I know this might make you uncomfortable and shit but if you dont feel the same just percent this never--'

you stopped his rambling by kissing his lips that you have wanted to kiss for too long. It was a sweet, chaste, long kiss. you could feel that his eyes were still wide open while yours were closed. you felt him finally close them.

he grabbed your cheeks in both hands and tilted his head deepening the kiss that both of you were longing for. it felt like it could go on forever and ever, but you pulled away when you felt your lungs tighten.

he kept your face close and leaned his forehead agains yours. his eyes were still closed as you both tried catching your breaths. then his sweet eyes full of love made contact with yours. you leaned in again and pecked his lips. once, twice, three times.

'I love you too. so much' you whispered. you both started giggling quietly trying not to get caught, considering you probably just missed a whole period.

'cmon. lets go back to my place.' he said already walking away from the school with your hand.

'why? we dont even have out stuff?'

'we dont need anything except each other and my bed.' he smirked at you.

'YAH. CHOI BEOMGYU YOU DIRTY SHI-'

'QUIET DOWN I WAS KIDDING' he leaned down fast and kissed your lips to shut you up like you did to him just a few minutes ago. 'we can get our stuff tomorrow.' you giggled at how exited he seemed.

oh my god, I could talk forever about this series. what a special time!! I remember busting my ass to get sunday updates out, never knowing where the next chapter was gonna get its word count from and somehow pulling something out of my ass every time, reading comments like a giddy schoolgirl getting love notes... it was so special.

I don't remember ever considering alternate endings, it was so funny seeing people start to get nervous that they weren't going to get together or even stay together as if I could ever do y'all that dirty!! but the anxiety was fun to watch haha and overall everyone's reactions were so awesome and encouraging.

the chapters themselves, I didn't always have them planned in advance but I eventually figured I could round it off at an even 10 which was satisfying. of course, 10 was super long, but it felt like the story made sense for one chapter. the songs I picked were varying degrees of thoughtful, some weeks it was like the song perfectly matched the story, other times I was just using it for the title, other times it was just like "fuck whatever just get the chapter posted"

I was rereading one of the chapters a while back and laughed out loud at a line just because I forgot I left it in. after the wedding, eddie and reader hook up and they kiss after he eats her out and I said something like "you can guess what it tasted like... that's right, wedding cake!" it was sort of a fourth wall break and such a stupid joke but I honestly only wrote that as a joke and didn't even mean to leave it in the final product. but I'm glad I did because there's no reason to take it too seriously, it's fanfiction and it should be fun!

I expected way more hate for the stepcest plotline, but it didn't seem to bother people much. I'm sure some people just chose not to read if it's not in their comfort zone, but nobody specifically got onto me for writing it. all my life with derek survivors, you understand haha.

anyways, I really miss that time, but I'm hoping I can pull off a series with that longevity again some time soon... might be a while before I get that amount of creative energy though. thanks to everyone who supported meet the munsons!! honestly, sometimes it's hard to write for eddie now just because I feel like that was the perfect send-off to the character for me; like, I wrote him in a bunch of different ways, all kinds of kinks and readers, but ultimately that's my eddie and that's the way I imagine him actually turning out. it's canon to me lmao!! I of course still enjoy the occasional eddie drabble but it's kind of like, I said most of what I have to say about him in that fic and I just want to keep him safe and happy and loved in that little story forever.

Heh, that goes in a little late... but for one, I'm not reading on speed and had a lot of stuff to do the past couple weeks, and then Marissa Meyer's Winter / Wie Schnee so weiß is also really massive in comparison to its predecessors.

Which. I don't personally mind books over 800 pages when the plot captures me, and I have so much love for the characters and want all I can get about them, but it has to be said: This one drags in places. Not enough to bore me off, but just a little less introspective would have been nice and could have kept up the pacing in action sequences. And I love Cress a little less when she does the "men can't be sexually abused by women because they'll always enjoy it" trope on Thorne - when she knows that he was manipulated by a Lunar. And the narrative kinda supports her immature jealousy fit? Not a fan. Girl, he was literally mind-controlled into that kiss. Book, don't do that.

I notice I don't want to say bad things about this book because I really love it - it's a great conclusion to an awesome series. There is a lot of build-up and several failures of the protagonists, and it makes for a long story, but revolution isn't easy. It leaves a lot of damage on its protagonists, and the scale on which this plays out is constantly present in the threat hanging over them. Innit it nice for teenagers to fight / prevent a war. I love them all. I especially have a lot of love for Winter - not just because she's gentle, kind, all of that, but also because she has got so much sass. One of my all-time favorite depictions of a mentally ill person, Winter is choke-full of personality. The most common mentally ill character archetypes are Uncontrollably Violent and Helplessly Harmless. Winter is the former only very temporarily after her break, and spends a lot of time masterfully playing the latter, always instrumentalizing that people underestimate her. She is not unbothered by her illness, but it never makes her a potato of a person. She is perceptive, she is brave, and she keeps plotting and teasing and flirting (and I'm not just talking Jacin; I shall forever read her and Scarlet's relationship as a mutual girl crush). I also appreciate that Scarlet has that "don't mollycoddle her; she's just crazy, not a baby" attitude. *chef's kiss*

While the original Snow White tale still makes out a part of the plot, it's honestly not enough to make it too predictable because there is so. Much. Going on. One teen rebel needs to learn politics, another goes full hacker attacker, people who don't like each other very much have to invest trust (Jacin, you little shit), and, again, I appreciate that Marissa Meyer never goes the teenager = stupid route, and never the emotional = acting irrationally route. She also doesn't skip the ugly parts of the whole ordeal; there is lasting damage done, scars that will remain, changes that cannot be undone, dead that won't be revived. A society can't just be changed into Utopia overnight, solutions are imperfect. It's all there. No one could say that the Lunar Chronicles are flawless, but there is a lot of thought put into them.

TL;DR - Winter shall have 4 out of 5 red candy apples: 🍎🍎🍎🍎 BUT with the note that I'd give an additional slice if there was an apple slice emoji. It is a great final book to the series; what annoyed me were really miniscule things in the grand scheme.

Before starting to ship steddie and fall in love with Wayne and his dynamic with Eddie, I'd only watched a couple of episodes of ST. (I over-identified with Barb and couldn't stand to see her story carried out to its inevitable conclusion)

Since becoming a Steddie and later Clarkson shipper, I just finished S4 a couple of nights ago.

Although thoroughly spoiled, I was still devastated! How little screentime Eddie and Wayne both got.

I loved the scene between Wayne and Dustin, but I wanted more more more. Maybe Scott met Wayne again on the way out of the center where Dustin and Wayne talked? And realized Wayne shouldn't drive home. And then Wayne spilled his guts to Scott? And they built something slowly in the wreckage of their grief. I mean, Eddie is of course coming back but Wayne doesn't know yet.

Ooh thank you for sending this! Yes I'm so sad we never got to see Eddie and Wayne interact with each other, that would've been lovely and give so much more depth to their relationship :( Luckily we have fanfic to fix this haha!

And what do you mean grief, what grief, Eddie is alive and well and eating the leftovers from the casserole Scott brought to Wayne while Wayne is talking to Dustin about how awesome Eddie is and how relieved they are that his charges are dropped. I'm staying in denial forever :)

No but seriously this is such a great take! They build something starting at the hardest possible moment, when Wayne has to deal with the biggest, most devastating loss he's ever experienced, but Scott doesn't ever run away from the difficulties. He's there, supporting Wayne in every way he can no matter how bad it gets. And then SOMEHOW Eddie comes back a few weeks later and he's so happy to find out that Wayne had someone to get him through the darkest days of his life that he immediately loves Scott to pieces and makes it his mission to get the two of them together right away.

ok so nimona thoughts below (spoilers)

i was afraid i was going to be disappointed with this adaption due to them scrubbing away a lot of the edginess (ambrosius's motivation for shooting off ballisters arm, nimona actually killing people, ballister being fine with that up till the end, etc) however i actually totally understand why they did it now. see i was afraid that getting rid of the more mature parts would mean cutting the lgbt elements and that was the exact opposite! in fact they made ballister and ambrosius's relationship more obvious than it was in the source material! nimona was heavily trans coded! and in turn because of this being a pg movie i actually really dont mind some of their villainy was taken out, because if you want good representation for a movie aimed at a younger audience its pretty hard to paint lgbt people in a positive light when theyre violently selfish or murderers lol.

would i have liked to see an adaption closer to the comic? sure! but would i have given up this movie for it? NO! its not the same but it really really stands on its own and thematically is more cohesive than the comic was. in fact nimonas struggle with suicidal ideation was an even darker addition than her attitude in the original story.

ultimately i was impressed by this movie. the core of it was even stronger than before and the animation was awesome. there were a lot of moments where it could have been really corny but the animation and expressions were so good it stuck the landing. the choice to have both ballister and ambrosius look more like their voice actors was also such a charming touch, though i am kind of confused why blackheart was changed to boldheart? the whole point is that he SEEMS villainous but actually isnt like that. though i will say that i do appreciate ballister getting to see nimona again at the end, it was a perfect touch for the tone of the movie.

anyway good movie! it was definitely worth the wait, and considering it got stuck in development hell forever its basically a miracle baby. please go check it out, it deserves the support.

All in all I think you and Mitsuri would be a wonderful couple and I demand that you invite me to your wedding🥰

Kyojuro Rengoku: Oh boy, here we go. Ok so scoring a very nice, very cool 35% we have Kyojuro Rengoku. I think Kyojuro would be very attracted to you simply because of how awesome you are! He’d be completely enamored by your poetry, your musical talents, and personality. He’d be extremely supportive of everything you did, almost to a fault. For example, he would push you to be the best at everything you did, especially your music. This is mainly because he loves listening to you play and to be honest he can’t get enough of watching you do what you love. It’s a little unsettling but while you play he would sit across from you and just watch. Without blinking. (*insert meme of guy screaming at cat to BLINK MF BLINK*) but he’s not going to because he doesn’t want to miss a single thing. Will suggest that you teach him, and if you agree he will become so dedicated that it will honestly frighten you. (Live by the bass, die by the bass). Kyojuro is intense but he makes up for it by bringing you food. The two of you have single-handedly supported the bento box industry, nearly crippling it actually. If you ever have a difficult day he is there right by your side with food, support, and love. Kyojuro is another one that cuddling skills surpass all others, as he is much tall than you he has no issue in scooping you up and keeping you right beside him all night. Get comfortable because he has an iron grip. In conclusion I believe he would the first to say “I love you” and he’d rather die than not tell you everyday. 10/10 fucking wholesome, I’m bringing champagne to the reception.

Dear Journal,

I have been avoiding writing for a while now. I am still not 100% sure why. I think i am scared to thing deep and feel. It think i just dont like it..  To be honest i think i am just scared to fully give in to the unknown. Today i sat and talk to Tam about how i wanted to support her in her journey to quit corporate. I notice the thoughts in my head about “HOW” “What does that mean $$$ wise?” “Can she actually do it?” and the only thing that i kept saying to myself was “ it doesnt matter lets do it. NO matter what happens it doesn’t change how you will react and how you will support and how you will make decisions. It will always work out. It is so hard tho. But for that par of like i know i will support and i will do what best for my 2 kids and i know you would so outside of that what happens happen. Lucas’s video was really something…. I know alot of it is my energy and its hard for me to be MEEE and try to be something i am not with lucas. I feel what i feel and sometimes i am scared of what Tam thinks. I think i always wonder if what i am doing is righ for HER for for the KIDS but i dont think ever if its right for me. Knowing if its right for me is different from feeling like it right for me. I feel my wife. I Love my wife. I really want my wife to love me. I want a lot of things and i know is my inner child talking and thats ok. Im tyring to let to flow through me and write about it since its alway just been in my head. There is no healing if you dont say anything. TBH it  hurts a alot. I think because always had such thick skin i could handle while most cannot. I can not 100% sure if what i feel is real or what i am doing is right but i do know one thing. I am going to do is close my eyes. Lean into my body and feel int my heart and listen to it and hear it and accept it and the listen to it and then do it. I am at 3.5/4 which is awesome and GOOD. 4/4 would be great and awesome but also perfect. What message of HOPE or HELP or Teaching so do i tell my inner child? I know it starts within ourselves to help the kids. I want both of of us to have 4/4> i know what my 4/4 is and i think you  know what your 4/4 is. 

I am feeling in my feels tonight.  I have my kids and i spent time with my family. I love them and love being with them. The love of my life is with someone else and having a good time. I am so happy she is feeling happy and that she is living what she thinks is best. It 100% fills the cup of i am happy if she is happy. But there is this small percentage that feels this. I take care of the kids alone so that my wife who i love more than anything is out with her FRIEND listening to music and ejnputoing herself. I just wish so badly that i was there. I wanna be there so badly i wanna be the person she hugs and hold hand with and to feel that energy that i want.  I dont want to say i NEED it but it does help me feel different about life. I am at 3.5/4 tonight and tonight that .5 is strong. 

I know I avoid writing and the DUMP. Let's try a streak and see. 100 Days.

My biggest fear: Fear of not getting what I want today.

My negative emotions: jealousy, anger 

Frustrations/angry:  mad that Tam is out listening to music enjoying the parts of life that i wish i can partake in with her.
