I love it when I complain about certain things not having more representation, like when a show or movie doesn't have any LGBT characters even if it should, then my family shoots in with "Oh, don't ruin this for me by complaining" or "But they're making plans to add a gay character in eventually"

Like, cool cool cool, glad we'll get one gay person at some point even though it totally could've happened way sooner and I'm glad that you all get to see yourselves represented while I just get ridiculed when I even just suggest that a character could be gay

#this is very much a callout for specifically my family #mainly my dad and also my brother even though my brother isn't here #but i know he hates it whenever i suggest that any marvel or star wars character is gay #i just hate it how anything related to lgbt stuff gets an eyeroll or a shrug from my family #sometimes it's just so annoying #and also my dad nearly outed me to my grandparents earlier making some joke about me being gay #it wasn't a mean or bad joke but like i haven't told my grandparents i'm gay yet #i'm just glad that they didn't react and it seemed like they didn't hear him #i don't plan on coming out to my extended family until i send out wedding invites #that way i know who is and is not a homophobic asshole when i see who comes to the wedding #and if i only tell them in a letter attached to the invite then maybe it'll be less stressful #anyway i'm just basically tired of being the only queer person in my house #me talking #rant #vent #also yes the movie that brought this up was a marvel movie #endgame and specifically the scene with the unnamed gay guy at cap's therapy session #it's been over ten years and marvel still hasn't done shit with any sort of lgbt rep and i call bullshit
