Ali Michael Cannon (he/him) is a writer, organizer, activist, and public speaker who is a recognized leader in the transgender community. Professionally, he has worked in the education field for 30 years, serving as a District Administrator and a Non-Profit Manager. Currently he works as a consultant, supporting schools to become more LGBTQ+ inclusive and address issues of equity and bias. A proud father and husband—he lives in Oakland with his wife, Jessica, an Oakland Public School Principal, and their high school son. He has a godson who just graduated from college, reflecting how much chosen family is a vital part of his relationship to building and sustaining queer community.

His writing has been published in From the Inside Out: Radical Gender Transformation, FTM and Beyond. His provocative illumination of Jewish and transgender themes can be seen in the film, It’s A Boy: Journeys from Female to Male and his essay (co-authored with TJ Michels), Whose Side Are You On: Transgender at the Western Wall. Cannon founded the theater group, Transmen Tell Their Tales, and was a long-time writer, performer, and producer of Chutzpah—a Queer Jewish theater group in San Francisco.

Ali earned a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Feminist Studies from the University of California, Santa Cruz and San Francisco State respectively. He served on the Board of Our Family Coalition, the Bay Area’s LGBTQ Family Organization for eight years.

Honestly my biggest fear is to end up writing my characters the same way vivzie does, I feel like she doesn't even try on certain characters(female characters and literally any other that isn't her "uwu baby boi must be protected at all costs" characters like stolas, angel dust). Like imagine completely missing the point of your own character/srs

to everyone pre-release worries and anxieties just as much as I have-- Please take this time to read or explore different interests of books or authors of subjects and genres you like ! In the era of internet where the golden age of information is rusting into brainrot, the less time online anymore the better. I've been taking javascript/python tutorials for myself attempting to make a dating simulator for literal years at this point and its bounced around to the point of where I branched off to develop my own murder mystery 2-d sidescroller !

I wish for this to be a farewell letter to the crushed hopes and dreams I had for the original hazbin pilot and crew has moved on to other things whereas viv attempted to spitefully keep a story she clearly doesn't have any passion over- it is very evident over her lack of care for her own characters purely for the monetary gains of attempting and sadly wriggling her way into industry the way she did is so abhorrent to the world of genuine art and animation I grew up with.

Has Vivzie ever read a Felix the Cat comic strip or Dilbert even Hägar The Horrible? Does she even know about the history and strive of depth that animation has been at for hundreds of years? Does she even like comics, clearly not if she doesn't even have the patience to write her own and horribly rush whichever story she's interested in that day. I've never seen a careless writer be this selfishly unashamed to write literal garbage and surface level 'intrigue' of design and then falling flat face first at EVERY step. Hope she becomes as unbearable of a director as John K. is because honestly even though I'm cringing making that comparison, it's pretty fair in my book considering the outright ABUSE she has always trying to talk or hoard artists into her 'pet project' I recommend above anything else to watch Dan Stamanolous' 'Moral Orel' if you want an actually funny dark comedy or Christy Karacas' fast paced dark horror comic-come-to-life Superjail! for good animattion that doesn't belittle its audience... *[Trigger Warnings for Adult Swim-esque outdated 2007 humor and light transphobia, read for your own triggers if you dont want to though, please!]

The fact that Stollitz is written so flimsily like a wattpad fanficiton of tropes rolled into one is astounding to me, I used to like the dynamic pre-season 2 as I've mentioned on here and @tired-hellowl so I really don't want to get a headache going into how I USED to like it-Realizing the problematic consent issues all of STOLASS is, I physically cannot watch another Helluva or Hazbin promo anymore without rolling my eyes into the back of my head.

To the anons and people who used to also enjoy vivs work, there are other artists and there are other stories to tell. If you wish to be inspired from Dante's Inferno/Hell or WESTERN CHRISTIAN BASED RELIGION keep in mind what source material you're doing because I don't even think vivzie has picked up the bible once in her life.... And I say this as a drifter in the world who believes in reincarnation I don't really vibe with the athiest stereotypes however, I don't believe in most religion but more power to people that do get hope and love from their teachings and cultures.

She entirely missed the mark for several years, nearly a decade. Viv has had time and time again chance and opportunity to give a chance of storytelling with demons and what does she do? Adult Cartoon that has the demons scream 'FUCK SHIT DAMNIT DAMNIT LOOK IM SO HORNY AND SILLY AND WACKY WOAHH THE SCREEN IS CONSTANTLY MOVING YOU CAN NEVER HAVE A SECOND TO BREATH IN ANY AMOUNT OF WORLBUILDING OR SETTING BECAUSE FUCK. YOU.'--

I have said this time and time again- there is no substance or worth about Helluva Bosses or Hazbins writing, even without the show not being released because Amazon seems ashamed about it, I know it'll be a shitshow.

Honestly at this point I agree with the redesign community, take any character you used to like and rewrite them until it's unrecognizable from the original source material, let those fuckers in space fight alien pirates or hell take them out of the heaven and hell trope and just flip it on it's head entirely out of earth or wherever you want to set your story! I'm personally redesigning angel to be a slight aid to my addiction help via rewriting him into my murder mystery heheh while keeping the sexual abuse and recovery in mind because woah that shit happened to me too man !!!

I wish the best to any future writers, animators, programmers, lovers of animation or art, you can do what you put your mind and hands to! Spread more positivity and love then hate in this world please guys, this'll be the last time I pop in I promise I'm trying to get a better job and hopefully get accepted in a community college that i've been on the fence over trying to do more online coding ! I'm going through all the posts I can in the blog, tagging them so as to find them easier. To help with that, I'm also writing the tags here, what do they mean, and using them to tag this pinned post. To see any of the tags, just tap/click on it (on the tags section under the post).

CHS: picture Given to posts where the focus is the picture, rather than anything else that may or may not be written.

CHS: drawn This one is for drawing and paintings and that kind of art.

CHS: audio Posts where the main focus is the audio. My favourite kind of post.

CHS: written The biggest group of posts. They mostly have pictures, but the main point of them is what's written: captions and stories are tagged this.

i feel like the only person in mainstream/popular media who takes issue with child girls (4–11) in crop tops and dancing sexually like. people flip it on me and accuse me of being a pedophile/pervert/“the only one sexualizing them” and they miss the point i’m trying to make so hard.

I’m sure it’s also sadly prevalent in other countries but there’s many “dance showcases” “dance competitions” in city provinces in China for specifically for girls who are young, with random men who are not parents or relatives who paid to go there to take video. I get the excuse “Its a public event” but that doesn’t make it any less creepy. They wear crop tops, short skirts, sometimes in the past i’ve seen bras be worn, and everyone thinks it’s normal! I feel like the parents are exploiting their daughters unknowingly.

Also, K-pop is big in china so they pick out sexy girl group songs for them to dance to, with the dance moves most likely being sexual too. The girls range from 4–11!??? Hello? Has everyone forgotten about sexual objectification?

My little sister wanted to be in one, thankfully my parents said no (only because the fee😒) but I got reminded of it after seeing a video of an American one, with comments again not taking a single problem with it. And I know I’m not overreacting because it genuinely looks insane to see a 6 year old twerking in short shorts while the crowd cheers.

Of course I want the girls to have fun, and dancing is a great activity, but they can have fun dressed up normally, and doing dance moves that don’t sexualize them. Sorry for these paragraphs, I have no one to speak about it to🥲 What do you think I could/can be done to change this? Im 17 and Tumblr feminism accounts are all I have momentarily, but I want to make more impact. I’ve been following you for a year now, I love the post and analysis you make!🩵

nah, you're right. the normalisation of young girls acting sexually is not good. the issue is that everyone disagrees as to what qualifies as 'sexually'. for conservatives, it includes health and education talk about periods and sex, mentions of homosexuality, using contraception (even for health issues), hpv vaccination, not wearing a bra (for older kids), even showing shoulders, etc.

men make it so difficult because no matter what girls do, they see it sexually. everything is 'sexual' to men. so, first we have to distinguish between what is sexual and what is sexualised. context also matters of course. in one country nudity around adults is non sexual, but in most of our cultures, a young girl naked around a grown man or a naked man around children would be great cause for concern.

so, the next step is having people be honest about what in our culture do we currently consider sexual that is justifiable in its age gating, and what do we currently consider sexual that perhaps should not be. nudity should not be, ie. the covering of little girls' chests with swimming tops and not the boys, but clothing invented with sexual attractiveness in mind should, ie. those chest coverings being little bikini tops.

i don't know how we get to this point, because even with stuff that is unfair to sexualise, men do sexualise it, and it harms little girls but you can't revolve their or your life around what makes their dick hard, not even women miserable in full niqab succeed in that, because men are chimps.

an easy step is to not let your young children have unsupervised access to the internet, let alone social media.

Oh hi! Didn't expect to actually get asks so thank you so much 🥺

Yes I've been to several ski jumping competitions. Funnily enough I didn't made it to one before I moved to Norway in 2018 even though I live quite close to Willingen and my Grandma is from there as well but I didn't want to go on my own at first and when I met people through the internet it wasn't possible because of uni and work.

But I went to two COCs in Oslo ( my first live competition experience and Aschi won and made it into my personal top five that weekend - oh boy I miss him)

Then I went to Raw Air in Oslo in 2019 and the Norwegian Championships that also were held in Oslo because of bad weather in Trondheim. My best friend asked Robin if he wants to take a picture with me because I was too afraid and he was so confused because he didn't expect that anyone wants to take pictures with him because he wasn't that known yet (even though he was on the team at Holmenkollen and won )

And in 2020 i did Raw air again even though we were not allowed to be in the Arena at Holmenkollen because of Corona but I also had Tickets for Lillehammer that year and since they did not sold that many tickets we were still allowed to be there so I was able to see Peter winning. 🥺 (Also Antti said I will get his bib but then his second jump wasn't that good and he was sad and forgot 😭)

Sadly still was not able to go to Willingen because of both Work and the fact that I had quite a hard time really enjoying the sport for a while but its definitely planned for next year. And depending on how the Grand Prix is planned this year I will probably go to Klingenthal but that depends if it's at the weekend where my Cousin is getting married or not (because I am afraid it is because it's usually around that time)

90's!Eddie Headcanons

Note: I always like imagining how Eddie would adapt with the 90's since it is lowkey very different from the 80's, so here's some random thoughts ^_^

CW:

Cut his hair around the beginning of the decade

I really couldn't tell you why my brain won't let this go, but I really believe that he would've thought that The Blair Witch Project was real (like not for a suuuper long time, but maybe before seeing it he would)

(But he would NOT have made that mistake again with Paranormal Activity in the 00's...totallyyyy...)

He prepared for Y2K "just in case"

He told the others that it was stupid and that people were all worked up over nothing

But did drag along a case of beans, beer and a first-aid kit with him to Steve's New Year's Eve party "just in case"

(He left his other favorite belongings in his van)

His precious van did sadly break down but that was okay cause he ended up just getting a new one instead :)

He refuses to not drive a van, honestly

Would maybe depart from that though if he had access to hearse

Despite being the rough around the edges metalhead he is, he would find a love for Britney Spears

Like ya know how today there's a collection of metalheads who love Carly Rae Jepsen and see her as their emotional support pop girly? That's what Britney is for him

Thought Scream was a masterpiece and forced the others to dress up as the characters with him for Halloween (you can take your guess as to who he was...)

Speaking of Halloween costumes, the older gang would also dress up as the Friends characters (because c'mon, these are yt ppl..) (He was Joey because he refused to be anyone else) (Yes him and Steve argued over it resulting in a coin toss to make the decision) (Steve was Ross)

He's also a Simpsons>Family Guy kinda guy

Got lost at a Nirvana concert (this applies to both Rockstar!Eddie or regular Eddie)

Got Adam Sandler's autograph for Steve

Isn't a fan of ICP or juggalos but can accept them from afar

(Is highkey thankful he went to high school in the 80's because otherwise he would've had some juggalos sitting at the Hellfire table)

Celebrated the beginning of his 30's with a bottle of champagne and a pack of DunkAroos

Would also mourn his 20s but not entirely

His first time using the Internet, he looked up porn

Not cause he was in the mood or anything, but just to see what was there

He's not allowed to use Steve's computer anymore

Embraced the younger ones' new phases :

Lucas styling himself after Will Smith in Fresh Prince (which btw not an Eddie hc but Lucas and Max dressed as Men in Black for Halloween on year, okay bye)

Max definitely embraced the grunge style of dress

El loving riot grrrl bands due to their boldness and unabashed expression of emotions (Eddie thinks it's badass)

The boys' love for video games surging due to history being made before their very eyes (Sonic, Crash, Super Mario 64, etc.)

Eddie gets high and watches Kevin Smith movies

Misses his long hair after watching Jay & Silent Bob :(

Likes Goosebumps books and collects them for his future children

The whole crew went to go see Space Jam expecting it to be really dumb and dopey

Everyone left with their lives changed

Forced Steve and Lucas to teach him basketball

It went exactly how you'd expect it go

Fell asleep watching Titanic at movie night

Freaked TFFF out when he got high and watched the Truman Show

Then let his fear subside and would make jokes

"Steve, move out of the way, you're blocking my good angle" *is staring at a plant pot*

Wants smoke with the Chucky doll

Tried growing out a small beard towards the end of the decade

Didn't really feel it, will try again in his 40s

Rockstar!Eddie bought Wayne a house in '95

Made sure the kitchen had lots of cupboard space

Eddie didn't cry until he was leaving after moving Wayne in

Wayne didn't cry until he started putting up picture frames of Eddie through out the years

Mechanic!Eddie saved up for a house for the two of them to rent

Either version Eddie got Wayne a black labrador

Wayne was your typical "I don't need a dog to worry about, messing up my furniture" type of man

They're attached at the hip after one day

"This Green Day isn't half bad"

Despite knowing that it isn't his first actual drink, Eddie is psyched to take Dustin out for his 21st birthday, just the two of them

Steve tracks them down, upset he wasn't the one to buy Dustin his first drink

Dustin doesn't even care as long as he isn't the one paying

This would be the decade that Eddie properly settles down with someone

Gets married early in the decade

Decides to have kids towards the end of the decade/early 00s

I have moved to a new place, which means going through some very, very old boxes of mine. Here's some running commetary I did for some of it on Twitter

Photo 1: When I was a little lass, I used to buy these chapsticks called Lipsmackers. They came in a zillion different flavors. I used to bite them like candy. To be fair they really, really marketed them as if they were candy. They made many of the caps with a hole in them so you could wear the chapstick on a necklace chain for some reason (which I did).

Why do I still have them? Well when I got older and stopped eating these things, I still liked to use them like a normal human, but also just to smell them, they were very nice smelling. They. Do Not smell nice anymore but that is to be expected. It's been a while.

Anyway that's a very weird product from the past, the joy of collecting all the flavors and wearing them on a necklace was just as much a part of the process as actually using them, they made every single one a unique color and I think that was to appeal to Collectors. Like I got legit so excited when I went to the store and saw New flavors. And the glittery-colored ones were like cracking open a pack of cards to find a Foil, lol

Also, I discovered my Chocolate Milk chapstick has the last name of my childhood best friend in pernament marker, I fucking borrowed her chapstick and never gave it back, which is hilarious to me

Dr Pepper was the best flavor, for the record.

Photo 2: So while I was reminiscing about lip gloss, I discovered the company STILL EXISTS (I assumed they were long dead, as many fads of the 90s go). So I bought a new pack for old time's sake! They're . . . not as good smelling or as tasty as I remember them being, but they probably have changed the formula in the time span of a couple decades, to be fair.

Photo 3-4: I just wanted to say this is peak cell phone design and I miss it. I got to play Snakebar, feel like I was using a Star Trek TOS communicator, I didn't have the incredibly depressing Entire Internet with me 24/7, it actually fits into even women's pockets, it has physical buttons, I see no downsides here.

Photo 5-6: A selection of some of my Littlest Pet Shop collection from when I was a kiddo. They are vastly superior to modern Littlest Pet Shop toys, and it saddens me that kids won't get to enjoy sets like these anymore. Not only do these things actually look like animals, but the attention to detail is incredible and they are functional toys. The frogs can 'leap' with a catapault. The mice can navigate a maze with a cheese that has a magnet in it. The chamelion changes color in warm water. They all did things. And they all came with accessories (food, brushes, cat litter boxes, etc) and playsets.

Photo 7: Typical box of toys from my youth: Dinosaurs dragons bugs monster trucks lizards roaarrrrr oh also a polly pocket, Iguess. This was the duality of a tomgirl who also happened to like Very Small Cute Things. So pretty much my toys were either typical "boy's toys" or they were Cute and Small (Littlest Pet Shop, My Little Pony, Polly Pocket, etc). I didn't like dolls except I did some have Barbies as a VERY tiny tot, but it was because I loved Barbie's Tiny Plastic accessories (tiny plastic shoes, food, whatever) more than the actual dolls, lol

Photo 8: Holy shit you guys I loved Giga Pets so much as a kid. This is a selection of some of them. (Well actually one of the ones in the photo is a Nano Pet) Giga Pets were a very popular spinoff of the Tamagotchi craze. Sadly these Giga Pets have sat too long in storage and their screens are pretty much fried, despite the fact that they otherwise seem functional; but it won't do much good if I can't see them properly. (If I tilt the screen at a really intense angle I can make out the display sometimes) I liked Giga Pets more than Tamagotchi because the Giga Pets had way more features and interesting things to do, as well as a wide selection of animal types. Sadly they are no longer in production.

Fun story, the pink Giga Pet in that photo is a Koala. I kept one alive for 100 consecutive days one time. That's an incredibly long time for a Giga Pet. Once he turned 100, we had a birthday party for him with a cake and everything. Not long after that, he died because the batteries got too low. I felt very sad when he departed.

I used to wear these things on a chain around my neck and went everywhere with them. So I had like 3 or 4 of these things hanging off me quite a lot. Again, I was pretty intense with my hyperfixations even as a kid, and I had a strong Collector sort of craving. I had Digimon as well, btw! I enjoyed the battle aspect to them, as primitive as it was. I wonder where the rest of my virtual pet stash is.

Photo 9: The first home computer our family had, the reliable little Macintosh SE. SOMEHOW, when I got this thing out of storage and flipped the switch, it fucking booted up without any problems. I can't tell you how intensely wild that is, this thing is incredibly old and so many things can go wrong with its parts at this age.

A lot of fond memories with this thing. I spent a LOT of time with Hypercard, making my own stacks and games. Played a lot of the original Manhole too. I know for a lot of folks, their first home computer was an Atari, but I grew up with Macs. Back then they were actually wonderful machines, though modern Mac products now leave much to be desired.

Late night ramble incoming.

It's been a hot minute since I've tried to write fanfiction/original stories. I used to write all the time, but as I grew up my focus shifted to my end goal project, Student's Echoes.

I used to write a lot of Undertale and Meet the Robinsons fanfiction, but sadly I got rid of most of the notebooks that had all that in them. I remember specifically hyperfixating on the Undertale Nerd and Jock AU, as I do now. It was my favorite AU then and it still is now (especially since recently I've seen it being remade without the problems).

The NaJ fic I was the most proud of was one I made for a ship. It wasn't about any of the "core" ships at the time. It was between Paperjam and an early version of an OC of mine, Mintalene (Mint). I remember in the original idea for NaJ, PJ was being hit on by a cheerleader-rabbit girl. I don't know if she ever had an official name, but I've always just called her BonBon. That's why her SE counterpart has that name. (I also could be completely misremembering this.) Anyways, Mint was essentially what I dubbed the "nicer alternative" to BonBon. She was sweet, had a little spark to her, and she actively called PJ out on his bullying bullshit. I specifically recall writing BonBon to be like... the jealous spoiled rich mean girl type. Which to be fair probably wouldn't have been too far off. It's funny remembering this fic because Mint now is totally different. She's now a college student majoring in theater/acting who has no romantic/sexual attraction towards men whatsoever. She's also notably more "punk" as opposed to "cheery" nowadays.

As for Meet the Robinsons style fics, I remember the classic "What if Lewis was never given up for adoption?" query. Which, funnily enough got revamped to who I call "Reboot Lewis". It hits a lot of the same notes the original fic did, just more fleshed out and you know... logical. Miscellaneous ones I did were about a lot of my AU Lewis'... but I did do another original one, this time focusing on a ship! Not between Franny and Lewis though, no. And definitely not Timecest. I refuse to touch that with a thirty-nine and a half foot pole. Seriously, they are father and son, gross. But Lewis and Lizzy. For those who are unaware (or you forgot), Lizzy was a character we only see briefly near the beginning of the movie in the first science fair scene. She's notably goth and she seems to have an infatuation for fire ants. Lizzy is the stereotypical "weird goth girl" I'd say. Like when Mr. Willerstein notes that fire ants have the tendency to bite people, she says "Only my enemies" and raises an eyebrow while still scowling. Later when the sprinklers are on and all hell is breaking loose in the gym, she can be seen in the background smiling like a maniac. Anyways I made a ship fic between her and Lewis. Why? Dunno, I thought it would be funny. Now I ship her with Franny and Lewis as a polycule, and all of them share the same bi for bi energy.

Yeah... I don't think a single one of the main/prominent one off characters in that movie are straight. Aside from Stanley and Goob, they seem straighter than planks of wood to me. But Lewis, Wilbur, Franny, and Lizzy are all LGBT is some way. I headcanon Lewis as bisexual, with a 50-50 preference split (however I remember a couple times where I would write him as an FTM trans bi boy, though this is not my go to headcanon). I see Franny as a bi girl with more of a preference for men, and Lizzy the opposite. Wilbur is just gay. You cannot convince me otherwise. I would always lean into these headcanons while writing these characters in fics. Like a line about Lewis finding a male classmate cute or Lizzy looking at a girl for an uncomfortably long time. You know, stuff like that.

All this to say that I kinda miss just writing short stories and longer works. Might try to get back into it one of these days. Maybe not for NaJ, but Meet the Robinsons. WE NEED MORE MTR FICS ON THE INTERNET! AND IF NO ONE ELSE IS GONNA MAKE THEM THEN I'LL DO IT MYSELF, DAMN IT!

Recent builds/About Me

Hey everyone! I'm Gabby, but my friends call me ganby.

Like I mentioned in a previous post, I'm new to posting my builds for the Sims 4, so here's a little bit about me!

First off, I'm a 24 year old from Indiana with a lot of time on her hands. I played the Sims as a kid (circa 2008 - TS2/TS3.) Sadly, it was only available to me when I was at my friends house on her trusty old Dell desktop. I fell out of touch with the game until a few years ago. Since then, I have really enjoyed building - specifically kids' rooms - and mainly in the styles of farmhouse, industrial, rustic, and contemporary (maybe a little scandi, idk they all seem to look the same when I'm done lol.)

I am by no means an expert designer or photographer, but I really love creating spaces. As an avid downloader of CC, I decided I wanted to share my builds so that maybe it can help inspire someone else, as so many others have done for me <3 (WCIF FRIENDLY!)

For the past 1-2 years, I strictly got my CC from TSR. This was simply due to the fact I HAD NO IDEA A WHOLE INTERNET FULL OF AMAZING CREATORS EXISTED OUTSIDE OF TSR!!! Since discovering this new world, in just 2 months I have now become a follower/patron of SO many incredible people, some with years full of downloads! I never knew what I was missing.

With that being said, I'm still learning about the community, and I would certainly NOT want to violate any TOU's. I will do my best to abide by them. If you are the creator of any CC used in my builds and would like for me to remove your content, PLEASE LET ME KNOW!

Niche Under the Magnifying Glass Lamp

If there is one thing I can take away from being in some smaller fandoms, or niche hobbies: You take what you can get and There are people out there who need their medical bills paid for carrying the fandom on their backs.

My two babies are the Lego Monkie Kid:

If you loved Lego Ninjago as a kid and still do to this day, I highly recommend this show. You can find the first couple of seasons on Amazon Prime. Seasons 3 and 4 are gonna be a bit more difficult, and this is what I mean by some needing their medical bills paid. Because the only reason I was able to keep up with the show with it being poorly marketed and dubbing is slow, folks came together to not only find the episodes, but also do their damnedest to fan sub these. I've already written a post about this show and why you need to watch it somewhere on this blog. Anyways, my next baby, and the one I have sunk so much money into already, is Zoids:

Most would be familiar with Chaotic Century or New Century Zero, as the Liger Zero (not depicted here) is the poster boy of the franchise. And with the 40th anniversary upon us, I'm glad I get to experience this niche franchise/hobby in general (My wallet not so much). I say that as I have a few kits that are sadly yet to be built. Right, Zoids if you don't know, started out as a sort of model kit toy line-up with a whole story between two warring factions and the mechanical beings known as Zoids. Most of it takes place on Planet Zi, with the exception being Zoids Wild Zero (and I swear to the gods above, I have been trying to watch this series for years now but finding episodes has been extremely tricky. That or I have just been extremely unlucky.)

Anyways, all that aside, insert here how even small fandoms have their problems and blah blah blah. But in general, I found the hardest part of being in smaller communities is mainly finding the content for them. Again, Zoids just isn't a big thing here in the States, so finding kits can be a little hit or miss. I say this as someone who fell into the pit trap of knockoffs (three to be exact.) and yeah, still new to all of this, only started building the kits recently. And as for Lego Monkie Kid, thankfully the internet exists, and the dedicated fans who work their asses off to find episodes and get them translated? Hats off to you my friends and thank you for all you do. It's always so exciting when you find someone out in the wild, so to speak, who knows about some of these smaller properties. And again, just being in these smaller fandoms, you have a slightly different perspective on Things you wouldn't think about being in bigger fandoms. I never thought I would be building model kits because of my horrible coordination and the fact that a disability I have makes it a little difficult to handle the tiny pieces. But then I discovered Zoids: New Century Zero on youtube some odd years ago and then learned about the model kits. Liger Zero was the first kit I got. Sadly him and my knockoff Mugen Liger took a tumble and are now in Model kit hospital trying to fix the broken parts. And even now, I still hunt for new kits, droll over some I could never hope to own. And I've rewatched Zoids Genesis at least 4 or 5 times now. And before anyone says anything, Yes I have seen Chaotic Century, and I do love it, don't get me wrong. But my favorite Zoid happens to be the Murasame Liger and its evolts. So you can imagine why I would watch Genesis a few more times than the others. And then there's Lego Monkie Kid. See, I loved Lego Ninjago as a kid, always diving into each episode and recording them on the VCR to see anything I missed. And then one day, scrolling through TikTok, I came across some clips of this new Lego animation that was essentially a sequel (I'm not calling it a fanfiction, I swear to the gods I refuse) Of Journey to the West. Which I learned about through Overly Sarcastic Productions. And doing my usual thing, now that I know how to surf the um . . . Okay let's be real here, pirating sites for cartoons and then Amazon Prime for this show. It was so easy to catch up on and the animation was eye candy, the characters and story were amazing, sound design and all.

Anyways, if you made it this far into my rambles, I applaud you and hope I convinced you to go searching around the deeper waters a bit. After all, you never know what you're going to find. Whether it be a gold mine, okay but still a guilty pleasure, the downright bad, or just the strange of the strange. Either way, happy exploring and I'll see you on the other side.

House of the Dragon Eps 3&4 - Review

So last week I was swamped by videos, and poor internet, so I had decided since I did the first two in one so I might as well follow suit

so here I am...swamped by videos, and poor internet. Fate is cruel but so is House of the Dragon, so let's see how these next two episodes fared

Spoilers for Eps 3 and 4

So, I liked the third episode, fourth not so much.

Understandable to carry the plot along for conflict of course but it doesn't make the character action and reaction any less frustrating.

I'll start with Rhaenyra, because our main lady and heir to the throne is a confusing one. I like her character, and I understand how she feels burdened because when she feels unburdened she feels more joyous and vibrant. But in most of eps 3 and 4 she feels like she's being petty and stubborn for the sake of being petty and stubborn; pouting under the weirwood and forcing Allicent to pull rank, saying 'no-one's here for me' when at her brother's second birthday as if attention is meant to be on her, sulking on a bench when Daemon doesn't talk to her, it all felt counteractive to the last episode. Granted, she did have fears that she would be replaced by Aegon, and she called out her father about Laena, but she also in ep.2 understood the responsibility and duty of marrying to a highborn house, so while she certainly shouldn't have wed Jason Lannister and his smarmy creeper ass, she still acts like it's being thrown on her despite the fact that she had blanked her father for years. I liked the White Hart analogy - although I did hate that Viserys killed the non-white one, as thematic as it was - but it does at least show support for her rightful place as heir. Episode 4 was an uncomfortable one for both parties, for Rhaenyra it's not exactly been a secret that the princess' standards in men are Daemon-oriented, if Ser Criston lost the joust I doubt she would have shown any interest in him. Viserys is right though, Rhaenyra is not as innocent as Allicent hopes she would be, what is unsettling is that she would have had he not stopped.

The time jump did not work in episode 3's favour there either, I find it hard to believe that Viserys and Rhaenyra didn't discuss succession for 2 whole years, meaning this tension does feel unbelievable. The gaps do feel like a missed opportunity too, especially for episode 4 where Allicent and Rhaenyra have somehow settled their tension.

On the matter of the Hightowers, Allicent sadly did take a back seat, but she at least maintained her role as being a person with the realm's best intentions, even in episode 4 when the rumor flows she opts to believe and protect Rhaenyra - which could lead to their rift even more - meanwhile her father suffered from poetic irony. His ambitions to put his grandson on the throne by suggesting that Rhaenyra wed Aegon were sickly, but in the end it was a somewhat true rumor that he rightfully reports that causes him to finally be kicked out. Perhaps this could lead to house Strong getting some love, since we've seen Harwin twice now and the lame one whose name escapes me once, Lyonel as well seems to be the only one giving Viserys good advice too.

Before we get to the main man, I wanna talk about Viserys. Because I thought he was fantastic in episode 3, Paddy Condisine expertly played Viserys in his sense of doubt, you could literally see how much he was physically and mentally drowning under the weight of the crown and its 'ceaseless politicking', and yet reluctant to waver on removing Rhaenyra as heir. His speech by the bonfire was particularly great, but in ep.4 he did somewhat regress, part of which could be by the influence of his brother turning him into a teenage frat boy again, up until the rumor where the burdens come back. Around the end when laying down the law I'm kinda on his side, he has been more than fair to her given the systems and traditions set in this universe, he also proves himself more perceptive than we gave him credit for in episode 4, noting how more aware he was of Hightower's machinations.

So let's talk Daemon. In episode 3 he was great, albeit at the expense of the Crabfeeder - who we could've seen more of had we not been time jumping, you could write essays of his body language when he receives Viserys' message; frustration, humiliation, but in some ways a twinge of relief that his family still cares about him, culminating in his leeroy jenkins moment - which I doubt was part of Laenor's plan (on Laenor quickly, why wasn't he an option in episode 2?) but worked that way - which wins the war. In episode 4 things go downhill for Daemon though, often he dances the line of hero and villain but here he was much more villain, having matched the same stubborn and petty energy that Rhaenyra has. It's possible that his intent was simply to show his niece that there's more to living than solitude, but like Rhaenyra he does take it too far and he literally has to force himself to stop. He could've easily refuted the accusation though, but stubborn and petty, he'd sooner get under his brother's skin than simply set his mind at ease. I don't like the haircut either; reminds me too much of his time in the Doctor Who but he's doing gross thing, I dunno if the showrunners were planning on making him look like a 'pathetic little meow meow' to soften the whole 'congratulations you almost tried to fuck your niece' angle but it didn't work for me. In terms of hero/villain balance, Daemon was hero in 3 and villain in 4.

Our ending is interesting though, because when the rumor came about my first thought was 'even back then they did kinda have ways to check', right now Viserys has laid a conundrum on Rhaenyra: if she drinks the morning after tea then she quietly confesses that her maidenhead was taken, regardless of whether it was Daemon or not, and this will dismantle Allicent's and Viserys' trust in her, if she doesn't though she risks falling pregnant which'll also expose her, so it is a cunning cliffhanger to leave on. Four episodes in though and the tension has only been mounting to a small bubble, soon the pot is bound to overflow.

Class Favorites: Albums That Needed More Attention Before They Could Of Made My Favorites List.

I almost forgot this post, but I couldn’t close out Akward Class Favorites without mentioning these albums as well, so here we go.

PS: Apparently I had a lot to say about albums I didn’t listen to enough. Also all these albums came out in 2022.

I Went To Hell And Back - As It Is

I bought a special signed pink cover copy of this album and loved it every time I’ve listened, however I just didn’t listen to it enough. I could call this album a 2022 favorite of mine from first listen and I thought about doing that, however I saw where I failed it and knew I could have done better and really pushed myself to listen to it more. Basically my CD player was having issues and only playing certain ones, so anytime I wanted to listen to it, the player said no.

“Excuses” aside, this was my step back into the As It Is world after spending not a lot of time in their Great Depression era. I think I just wanted more of their Pop-Punk sound back and this album was an evolution of that for me. This is for sure a heavier record and I think it marries the heavier sound of The Great Depression with some of the Pop-Punk stuff they were known for. Not gonna lie, I’m also in my hella sad boi era and a lot of the record is speaking facts to me right now, so it’s a good mix.

I feel like this is already the most popular track, but I didn’t want y’all to worry about me lol. It’s also a heavy hitter though.

If I Saw You Again - Violet Skies

I bought this CD when I saw her on the Wild Rivers Sidelines Tour because she was just so good live. I had dabbled in Violet Skies prior, as in I knew one song, however I now know a few and they’re just so good. When I was working on that concert post I had this album playing quite a bit, but I’m not gonna lie I haven’t picked it back up much, despite how good I think I think it is. That’s sadly also why none of the songs have made it to any of the 2022 lists either. I need to add several to my regularly played playlists so that their numbers could pick up. Do you want soft(er) British Pop in your life? Do you want to listen to a good song writer with a powerful voice? Do you just want to feel cool? Then like me you should listen to this album and then listen to it more.

Kings Of The New Age - State Champs

I feel like I’ve been on a break from several of the bands that I’ve been glued to for the last 6/7 years and that’s partly why this album is here and not chillin in first class with the other albums I actually had on repeat this last year. It took me forever to go get a copy, even though I’d been lowkey excited for this record to come out and I haven’t put it on much since then. I loved their “Unplugged EP” and was really into the single “Outta My Head,” but this one was and still is slow to get into. This is new for me, cause I’m typically on it with State Champs and if I’m not, the album gets downloaded to my phone and I play it on repeat until I’ve broken it in. The first time I ran through this album, I was like “it’s alright.” Kings Of The New Age needs a bunch more run-throughs for me. The sound that I love is there, but maybe I’m just not fully in love with this current era of State Champs.

I want to write a whole separate thing on this, but basically they’re in their cocky era right now, as are many bands, hence the title, but I’m apparently just not attracted to that. Not saying that I don’t want them to be successful or to not ride the wave while it’s here, but I’ve always pulled back on some of my enjoyment of the scene when it stops feeling personal and this moment doesn’t feel personal to me.

All that being said I think I’m less in love with the vibe of this era for State Champs as a band, than I am the actual record. I’m playing it as I’m typing and I’m like this is good and it’s doing what it needs to do. I guess the next move for me is to get some more solid listens in, truly find “my tracks” and kind of ignore the scene, cause that’s how this record gets the fair shot and love it deserves.

Oh and since I may never come back for a full review after those solid listens, I just want to say that although the song “Everybody But You” is technically a bop, it feels frat-boy petty. It would definitely make it onto the soundtrack of a mid-2000′s young adult movie.

on the subject of nintendo hype, i also miss pokemon hype pre XY (which are already 11 years old, wow !), which i know is : 1- oddly specific 2- really old ? i'm talking about basically, back in 2006-2007. now, while i was pretty much a kid back then, i remember that the internet was only useful for three things for me back then : 1 cartoon/anime openings (the dragonball Z op was the first thing i ever searched for on youtube) 2 videogame help and 3 pokemon. whenever i had access to the internet, i'd look for stupid fan art of pokemon fusions, fanfics shipping a variety of the characters from the series and news on the games.

the reason why i specified before XY is because Pokemon X/Y were the first episodes of the series to be announced globally.

on tuesday 8th of january 2013, pokemon xy was announced. i remember running home from school at 12 to open my laptop (that i had left on in the morning so i wouldn't waste a single second) to see the trailer

you have to understand that before, the games were first announced in japan, released there and then eventually announced for the rest of the world (europe, usa) and released. this was a BIG event. but prior to xy, unless you could speak japanese and lived there, you were practically left in the dark about the most recent pokemon news/events. "why not watch the trailer in japanese then and quit dramatizing past events lol ? "

the reason is that back then, a trailer was the culmination of months and months of mystery and hype. you didn't get the trailer first. rumors would circulate from "insiders" and so called trust worthy leakers from japanese and american image boards that a game was in the works (and these rumors would usually start 6-9 months after the release of the most recent mainline game), then speculations about the region, thematic, features would start; i remember how each gen we had someone saying "this time, we'll be able to explore ALL regions !" or "this is going to be open-world in 3d on the TV console !".

remember : the internet was a much more decentralized entity back in the mid/late 00's. information did not drip down from a single verified source on 3-4 social media accounts ; it spread unevenly, gathering misinformation, theories and the interpretation of the relayer along the way. you're probably going to ask "well, if you didn't get it from the official twitter/facebook (this is 2008), where did you get the info from ?"

we got it the old fashioned way. i present to you, the corocoro magazine

the magazine, launched in 1977 is a children's mag that advertised a variety of manga and most importantly video games to a younger audience. and you would not believe how dependant the online pokemon community was on this magazine : any info concerning a new game, teasers, shadows for the shapes of starters would be there. mind you, google trad was not as developped as it is today : you couldn't just up and whip out your phone to translate the text from your computer screen. you had to wait for translators to do so; and boy, was it exciting. i remember how on the french pokemon bubble, it was a race between various websites to translate the info first ; either from the english translation, or directly from the source, if they could comprehend japanese.

and since i mentionned shadows, here is a tradition that sadly disappeared : shadows of the new gen starters as a teaser. surely, i don't have to name or even show you the starters on the picture above for you to recognize them. instead, let us see how creative such teasers got the community :

and so it went on: drip fed teasers, leaks and speculations about info that we take for granted now, like the very names of the new pokemon in english, of the rival and the game's evil team, new or returning mechanics, etc. the hype would go on, info would become clear as we near the japanese release, then once it does, we all sit behind our screens jealous at the lucky ones who either lived in japan or uhm, accidentally received an online package containing a rip of the game's file (jokes aside to avoid getting censored, if this was the case, the games would have safety patches that didn't allow it to be read by the current firmware of jailbroken consoles).

the lucky ones would document their adventure, some try to prepare guides in advance for the international release, others cook-up fan translations ; and at that point, theories have begun. all before we even get the game !

to be honest, i did not expect this to be this long, but as i wrote, i remembered more and more, and like an old sailor, got to recall why i was so excited for pokemon back then. i lived for the hype : play pokemon, next game gets announced, get on the hype train, write theories, debate with other fans on forums, convince people that we're not getting a 3rd gen remake on the Nintendo DS, game releases, rinse, wash and repeat.

to me, this entire topic is an interesting look at the aspect of a bigger topic; the centralization of the internet over the years and the controlled spread of information. of course, i won't get into this here or now, but i'll also add that whatever i put down does somewhat apply to not only nintendo but also games from japanese manufacturers as well : even more obscure light novels on ps4 are getting releases in various languages now. before, you needed a japanese console to play japanese games, a german game would not work on an american console, etc. i am not necessarily nostalgic for this - it was annoying, and some of us missed many games because of it. but i will admit that the absence of teasers and hype when you can just datamine or immediately get the info on twitter from a game dev is saddening. i shall leave you, dear reader, with this trailer for pokemon black and white 2 that had me excited for a month :

Story of happiness

Young couple

It was a pleasant morning with a gentle breeze which took me a long walk with my friend Raju, we both recollect our sweet memories.Raju, he not only my friend he is my well wisher, he guided my life in many circumstances… Now, we both are successful entrepreneurs because of his guidance. It was my college 2nd year semester examinations time, that time there was no internet facilities like today, we should go to library and search for books, i went to the library and looking for the book written by my professor. I found that book it was in last shelves, when i went to get that book i saw my friend preparing for the exam, so i thought don’t want to disturb him. Finally, went to that book and when i took the book, realised that someone holding at the other corner of the book. At first, I looked out the fingers they were in pearl white and with mehandi which adds more beautiful. Then, i looked her eyes, they were browny with a stroke of kajal. It's Divya my classmate, she is a innocent girl sitting in the second bench, never mingle with the boys.. She left the book and went out from the library. I took that book and register till the examination, so that i don’t want to miss and then i searched for her. I know the importance about book, it will help her to get more marks in exam, she is sitting sadly under the neem tree. I went to her and asked “you really need this book” . She replied “yaa, i need to prepare for exam”. I asked “Shall we share this book, so that we will mutually benefited, and we can easily complete the topics” . She think for a while and said okay.. Her acceptance brings a huge U turn in both of our lives… We become so close, she shares not only my book also my happiness and sad….. Semesters begins we concentrate in studies, we both made group studies for other subjects. I cleared the exams easily because of her. I spend the my semester holidays with her. It gives me a new feeling, we both went many places and spended the holidays.. A year runs like a Hussain bolt. Final year exams got over and result camed. We both scored good marks and got our degree. We planned to continue our PG in same College. This time i planned for many places to spend time with her….. At some circumstances, we both fell in love with each others, life moves on…. I discussed with Raju about our love…he gives me advice about our responsibilities, he told me to do discussion about our future, and to start savings which will help our future… As per his advices, we made discussions this made us to feel our responsibilities and our families situations, our backgrounds are not so wealthy. We planned to work part-time jobs,after our college hours and make a savings.. Raju gave me an idea of investing in mutual funds, this will help us in future. From his advice, i met a Financial Advisor. He helped me to make investment in Mutual Funds We Started investing in MF as SIP (Systematic Investment Plan). First we find out our needs for periods of within a year, short term and long term.. And we both invested as per our needs, this made our lives more lovely and feels matured… After a period we got jobs, and increased our savings. Then we got married with the permission of both the families.. Then Me and Raju planned for our passive income. So, that it could give us the extra income. We planned to open a mansion for working men's.Income comes from the mansion are invested in Mutual Funds. It gives tax benefits and good returns. Life moves on, now me and Raju become a Successful entrepreneurs. We created our life, we created our wealth….. Our life is in our hand.We Should create our life.. Life is like a Clay, first plan, design and then execute….
