That sounds like an amazing job! Aerial seems SO cool although I definitely would not have the upper body strength for that lol. Are you familiar at all with eurythmy? I have a friend who grew up doing it and I’ve heard wild things about it. What are some of the most memorable songs for which you’ve choreographed a dance?

Ah I LOVE crocodile rock such a beautifully nostalgic song to me… OMG I’m so glad you asked about Led Zeppelin recs. I’ve found Led Zeppelin II to be the best album to start with. For specific song recs, if you’re interested in their more pop-adjacent songs, id suggest “D’yer Mak’er,” “Tangerine,” and “Heartbreaker”/“Living Loving Maid.” Also special shout-out to “Ramble On” for general excellence ofc!

This is such a useful breakdown of the Monkees concept thank u SM now I shan’t look a fool in front of the tumblr monkees crowd… follow up questions to your gorgeous explanation: are their four albums of their own music good after all that buildup to being allowed to play their own instruments?? this is the first i've ever heard of eurythmy and upon some research it seems...... interesting? it definitely seems to have a connection to the general early modern dance movement in the early 20th century and kind of reminds me of isadora duncan. but the guy who came up with it is kind of a lot lmao.

i think my favorite songs that i've choreographed to are honestly the more classic rock ones! i've done california girls by the beach boys (4-6 year olds, very cute), crocodile rock (6-10 year olds), wild thing by the troggs (3-5 year olds, they loved this song lol), come together by the beatles (middle schoolers), a mix of queen songs (adults), and a mix of abba songs (6-9 year olds). but i also get to use some kids music! i've done some songs from the hannah montana movie, cheetah girls, barbie, and turning red :) i've also done solos to another brick in the wall and get back, and i'm working on one now to maneskin's cover of if i can dream!! i really love getting to introduce kids to music that they might not hear otherwise

omg thank youuuuu for the zep recs!! that's my homework for the weekend lol, i'm excited to give them a listen!

i enjoy those four albums! they get more experimental and have a lot more personality in my opinion. also a couple of their more well known songs like pleasant valley sunday and daydream believer come from those albums! what's funny though is that after all the work to play their own instruments they largely just....don't. like i think mike and peter continue to play on the albums but micky actually plays drums on only one or two songs bc he's fundamentally not a drummer. so it ended up being more about having creative control over what they played and being able to write some of their own songs than actually playing on the tracks. but yeah those albums get a lot more eclectic in terms of style because the four of them have such different musical influences and they really incorporate all of their styles into the albums rather than just standard pop-rock :)

i got into the monkees by watching the tv show! they started airing it on cable a while back and it was something fun to look forward to each week :) one thing i really like about watching the show is how when i listen to their songs, it always makes me think of where the songs appeared in the show! also, crucially, after the first couple episodes i watched, i fully imprinted on mike nesmith like a baby duck. i saw that wool hat and it was over for me, he bewitched me body and soul

omg best of luck studying for your finals!! what kind of science do you study?? i'm a computer science major and have mad respect for science-science majors bc you guys have SO MUCH more to do omg...... i can't imagine having to take labs on top of my classes.

um shhshshs to be fully honest i started drawing last december-ish...... just for this blog because of brainrot lmaOoo.... i think that’s kinda obvious if u scroll through my #demi doodles tag and see my sad first posts :’D

although!!! i did tryhard middle school art class a long time ago and i vouch, if u really get into it, u can learn a lot :> i think starting early even when i didnt continue painting afterwards still means a lot, bc since then i always saw art with a more critical & appreciative eye and i guess i still learned through osmosis?? LOL

that being said, the bulk of my learning really was done these past lovely brainrotty months, so don’t sweat it if u start late :) my dad is 58 now and my recent enthusiasm in doodling afflicted him too so now we’re learning together <333 and i adore what he makes already

i made a tutorial for my own painting style here aku nonnie, but there’s so many other resources available online elsewhere for learning too :> here’s my own personal tips for quick improvement below the cut ‼️

firstly i am seconding the ‘general painting tips’ section of the tutorial i linked :>

particularly about which fundamental concepts of art/drawing that u should really explore if u wanna improve quickly! (ex. for drawing humans, learning proportion and gesture is much more useful than detailed anatomy!)

focused practices on areas of art u wanna improve in >>>>>

figure out precisely where u need to improve and focus on solving those issues. smth i like to do is to doodle without reference, find similarly-composed but much nicer art that does the specific thing really well, and then compare & analyze what i’m missing or could do better

in general, looking at other people’s art that u like and figuring out what exactly u like abt it is great! at least thats how i improved in the years i didnt even touch a sketchbook

VARY the art u make as much as possible! even if u have a certain favorite style, in the learning process its important to explore as much as possible. this includes varying the subject matter (draw hoomans a lot? try nature or backgrounds!), the art styles (realism is important to try! but so is stylization!!), the media (i learned SO much so fast when i switched from traditional to digital!), and more!!

comics helped me bc i was forced to make things i don’t naturally love to, like those damn flowers T_T in general incorporating things u need to focus on into projects u love (comics for me, maybe character design for u?) is a great cheat to making the process seem easy :>

ask for feedback!!!!!!

use MANY references every time u draw!!!!!

but ofc nothing beats drawing often. its okay to just draw what u like so u can keep going—i’m personally 100% brainrot fuelled and it did me wonders lol. in the end putting in the hours is what will give u a strong grasp, and its also what u need to develop a style. frequent ‘disposable’ but thoughtful doodles >>>> sparse ‘masterpieces’

be kind to your art. know it is already amazing now, but you WILL keep improving. i believe in you

that’s all i got off the top of my head! it seems kinda overwhelming when i ramble about it this way lol i’m sorry :’> but these are all just lighthearted tips to make drawing more fun! in the end, what’s important is that you are having fun creating. brainrot and tumblr is DEFINITELY my secret :) good luck aku i’m rooting for you!

On the third day of the cruise, Jungkook rolls over in his sleep. His hand reaches for you. His palm meets the bare skin of your shoulder already moving despite how pale the morning light is under his lashes.

“What’s happening,” he mumbles before grabbing more greedily at you. There’s not too much resistance as you let yourself be dragged a few inches across the sheets.

“We have to get up. Breakfast starts in 10 minutes, remember?”

You lean down to press a peck just above his brow bone and he groans. As you pull away, there’s a sweet waft that hits him and lets him know you’ve already showered and gotten ready. Now it’s his turn.

He gives himself just until you gather your things and shut the door to the room. Then he’s pulling himself out of bed with every ounce of energy he has left. He brushes his teeth with his eyes closed, does a perfunctory shower with the lights off like it’ll give him some more sleep. But he’s still dead tired as he throws on an outfit and heads out the door.

The walk to the dining area was exciting 3 days ago. The decadent decor, the view from the high balcony separating his floor from the others, the grand 20’s style atrium with Mickey Mouse memorabilia incorporated throughout. Everything used to be exciting 3 days ago. Sadly, the first day passed and things quickly lost their charm.

As he scoops a smiley-face omelette onto his plate in the buffet line, he searches for your face in the crowd of families scarfing down their first meals of the day so they can take their kids to the waterfall pool on deck 6. By the time he reaches the end of the line, there’s still no sight of you among the tables. So he ventures outdoors where there’s less seating but considerably more sun. He thinks back to his quick routine in the room. Did he remember to put on sunscreen?

When he finds you, you’re stretched out on a beach chair and taking in some of the sun. His mood is partially lifted when he sees just how content you look getting warmed like a lizard on a rock in your tiny bikini. He stands over you deliberately just to see you pout and pull down your sunglasses with a huff.

“Oh, it’s just you.”

“Who’d you think it was?”

“I thought it was Hoseok about to ask me to take his profile pic again.”

Jungkook chuckles a little before sitting in the open seat next to you. “Couldn’t have been him. Too early.” “That’s true.” You sit up then, peering at his plate. “What’d you get us?”

“Us?” His smile is warm. “I thought you’d have eaten by now with the way you left the room.”

“I was looking for an empty spot for us. It was your job to find the actual food.”

“No one else would willingly wake up this early,” he cuts a fraction of the omelette before holding the bite up to you. “But I guess it’s only fair.”

You open your mouth happily.

“Permission to board the S.S. girlfriend?”

“Are you serious?”

“I’m wasting fuel in the port,” he continues to hover the fork just outside your reach, even when you jump forward with a nip.

“Permission to board,” you grumble.

He laughs like you told a great joke and gently feeds you the bite. With soft eyes, he watches you point to different things on the plate and dutifully feeds you your fill. This might be the first time he’s been able to spend a few moments alone with you since the five of you got on the cruise. He finishes up the bit of toast you couldn’t finish and the few blueberries that didn’t interest you. He must be staring because you turn to him in your reclined position and return the favor.

“You’re looking a little red. Did you put on sunscreen?”

“I think I forgot. I was trying to get ready fast so you wouldn’t have to sit around alone.”

“I wasn’t alone,” you reach into the bag you brought for sunscreen. “Yoori was with me. She left for the gym maybe 2 minutes before you came out here.”

“Oh,” is all he says.

Jungkook scowls a bit as you rub the lotion onto his face. That Yoori and Hoseok, and probably even Taehyung, might be spending more time with you on this trip than him is starting to be the horrible icing on this shitty vacation cake.

“Why don’t we take some time to—” He begins but a large shadow looming over the two of you makes him stop in his tracks.

“Hey,” a man with thick blond hair and even thicker muscles nods down at you. “You were at the adult lounge last night, right?”

Jungkook’s mouth drops open. Thor—or the actor who plays him during the Marvel day activities—has come up to your spot. He’s got the Ragnorok breastplate on with board shorts adorning his chiseled lower half. From the top up, he looks just like the real thing.

“Wow. Yeah I was, I’m surprised you remember,” you hold a hand over your eyes so you can look up at “Thor”.

“How could I forget. You and your beautiful friend were quite the sight yesterday.”

“Oh, uh. Thanks.”

In all his excitement, he overlooks the flirting. Jungkook stands up from his seat then and sticks out his hand. “Thor” shakes it hesitantly.

“Hey. I know you’re not the real thing, but it’s great to see you. I wasn’t at the adult lounge last night, so we didn’t get to meet.”

Jungkook makes sure to puff out his chest so “Thor” will notice the print of his button down shirt. Tiny little hammers.

“Do you like the shirt?” He beams.

“Thor” squints down at the animated hammers.

“I can’t say I really know what’s on it, but sure.”

“They’re...they’re Mjölnirs.”

“Mole-whats?”

You gasp, clapping your hands over your mouth.

Jungkook drops “Thor”’s hand at the same moment, disappointment turning down the corners of his mouth.

“Nothing. They’re just drawings. Have a good day, man.”

“Thor” chuckles before looking back down at you. “Cute kid,” he says before sending you a wink and making some comment about getting to rehearsal.

Yoori returns from the gym that moment, nearly running into “Thor”. He gives her an appreciative once over which she returns smugly. Her expression changes as she approaches you and Jungkook looking like you had both seen a car crash.

“What’s up?”

“Nothing,” you respond quickly with a subtle look at the back of Jungkook’s head to tell her ‘not now’.

“Well,” she plops down on the end of Jungkook’s beach chair, “How was breakfast?”

“It was fine,” Jungkook sighs and scoots back so she’ll have some room. “We finished a little while ago. Now we’re just making plans for the rest of the morning.”

“Couple stuff...I’ll go get myself a plate, then.”

You wait until Yoori’s disappeared into the dining area to turn to Jungkook. He doesn’t look angry per se. Just resigned.

“What were you saying before?”

“Hmm,” his eyes are far away, “I was just saying we could take some time to ourselves.”

He wants to say he feels like he’s barely seen you since he stepped on the ship, but he doesn’t want to make you feel bad. The funny thing is that you weren’t even looking forward to the trip before the first day. The tickets for this Marvel cruise were a last minute gamble. You had dropped many not-so-subtle hints about wanting to go somewhere a little less kid-friendly, but he’d waited until the last minute.

At first it seemed like the best possible last choice a person could have. You were all fans of the comics and movies with the exception of Taehyung and Yoori. Taehyung was more of a DC fan and Yoori just sort of let the movies wash over her. You’d been worried that the week would be torture for you with all the screaming kids around. But you were actually having the time of your life. Meanwhile Jungkook was having a less than ideal time.

“Sure. Like what?”

“Maybe we could relax? I’ve had research video meetings the last two nights, so I haven’t really been up for the late night stuff. And I’m just barely up for the morning stuff.”

“Hmm. What about the spa? I haven’t been there yet and it’s on my list.”

“The spa?” Yoori comes out with a mountain of waffles and rumpled-looking Taehyung and Hoseok behind her. “Yeah, let’s go to the spa!”

“Actually, I think Kook just wanted to—”

“I heard it’s actually pretty decent on this boat. They have a hot rock massage where all of the rocks look like the Tinman’s suit.”

“The Tinman,” Jungkook practically chokes.

“I think she means Iron Man,” Hoseok grins sleepily. “Anyway, I’m down for the spa thing too. Never too early to have a tiny lady go in on my thighs.”

“You’re literally so nasty,” Yoori glares back at him.

As your other friends bicker, you flash Jungkook an apologetic look. He shrugs because that’s easier than fighting it. He relishes the second plate of food you get for him and lets you feed him the bites in between kisses and mini-reapplications of sunscreen. It’s all the rest he gets that day. The spa is probably the least relaxing moment of his life.

He doesn’t even get to sit near you. Instead, he gets roped into the men’s section where Hoseok’s tiny lady goes too hard on his thighs and the resulting yelps make Jungkook’s ear drums pound. Taehyung falls asleep two minutes into the Iron Man hot rock massage and snores in a way that’s nearly identical to the 60 year old guests napping nearby.

You emerge from the women’s section with Yoori looking like you’d smell and feel like a rose petal. But Jungkook doesn’t ever find out if you do, because he’s being thrown right back into more “fun”. Somewhere in the back of his mind—between Black Widow meet and greet and the Ant-Man lunch show—he thinks that he would probably be having actual fun if he had some time to breathe. Although, he figures it’s enough to just breathe you in. He feels slightly less drained looking at your smiling face and wide eyes as a wild Hulk appears behind you at the pool after lunch, spraying you lighty with comically huge muscles and a comically tiny water gun.

“You’re not coming?”

Jungkook groans, partly out of guilt and partly out of exhaustion. It’s nearing 10:30 at night and you’re getting ready to go to the adult lounge again. This time it’s for all-things-Spiderman trivia and drinks. He wants to want to go. But he can’t find the strength. He figures too much sun and too much socialization is the answer.

“You’re not staying,” he counters as he does his best to sit up in bed. There’s a nice soft glow bleeding in from the giant picture window of the suite that looks onto the water and there’s some Loki pajamas calling his name. Your tight little dress is calling to him too. I’d look better on the floor, it says.

“I figured this would be a lot more lowkey than everything else we’ve done today. There’s no water and no noisy families. Or screaming Hoseoks.”

“You heard that earlier?”

“I did,” you grimace. “He must have really pissed off that masseuse.”

“I’m pretty sure he just talked with her like he talks normally.”

“Can’t fault her for that, then.”

There’s a beat of silence as you test the security of some strappy heels. Naturally your eyes wander from the shoes to your boyfriend. He’s tapping away at some emails on the ship’s slow wifi no doubt. If you couldn’t tell how tired he was from the slope of his shoulders and the bruise-like shadows under his eyes, the giant yawn he barely stifles is a giveaway.

“Maybe I could just—”

The door to your suite swings open, revealing Taehyung looking frightened in a silky peach button down as Yoori pinches Hoseok’s ear.

“You’re coming, right? Please tell me you’re coming.”

“She’s coming,” Jungkook pipes up from the bed. His eyes never leave the screen of the computer as he types away, but he blinks slow and long. Your heart aches a little.

Taehyung breathes out a sigh of relief and links arms with you. You get one last look at your exhausted boyfriend before you’re pulled out of the room entirely.

“Do you think they’ll even bother asking about the Garfield version?” Taehyung’s question shakes you out of your worry.

“Pfft, no.”

On the fourth day of the cruise, Jungkook is awakened earlier than he wants yet again. A large clap of thunder and the bolt of lightning flash from the other side of the window. He crawls quietly around your sleeping form and throws on his glasses. There’s heavy rain too—a sure sign that the pools and sundecks will be closed. Out of habit, he checks his email and sees a message from the ship coordinator.

Esteemed Guests,

As some of you may know, two performers at last night’s dinner show in House of Mouse theatre (Deck 5, room 6B) showed signs of a stomach bug during the performances. For the safety of the rest of the cast, staff, and guests, we will be postponing today’s shows to sanitize the performance rooms and allow the actors time to recover. Room service will still be available.

We know this is a large inconvenience, and to thank you for understanding, please check your trip accounts for a refund for today’s fares. Additionally...

Jungkook can’t help the fist pump and small hoot he lets out. The email gives him the same feeling he gets on those days when he wakes up hours before his alarm only to discover his professor had cancelled class for the day. With a skip in his step, he returns to bed.

When he wakes up hours later, it’s natural. You’re still spooned to him, still soft and warm and pliant in sleep. He runs the tip of his nose along your neck while the fog of sleep lifts. The smell of your soap and skin is warmed with sleep. The sniffing must tickle you, because you stir before arching against him in a morning stretch. He moves so he doesn’t get in the way of your swinging limbs and smiles to himself. It feels like it’s been forever since he last got to hold you like this without the threat of someone whisking you away.

“Morning,” your voice is gravelly from disuse. “What’s going on. What’s the plan?”

“There’s no plan.”

You’re still half asleep, but you have the social awareness to let your voice go high with incredulity. “No plan?”

“No plan. They sent an email.”

“Read it to me?”

He reads the formal apology while you turn in the covers so you can embrace him while you wake up. By the time he’s done reading, you’ve sat yourself up to look at his phone screen as well.

“Sounds good,” you chirp.

“Really? I would have thought you’d be disappointed about not having a packed day. You’ve been zooming around since we got on board.”

“Yeah, but this was supposed to be our time together. It’s only natural that your friends would tag along.”

“So they’re my friends now?” He raises an eyebrow.

“Only when they’re annoying.”

As if on cue, the front door sounds with knocking. Taehyung is the one who calls out about breakfast plans, but you know all three of them are out there. It’s almost a menacing thought.

“Your friends are here,” he groans. His head falls back onto his pillow defeatedly. They’re likely to burst in any second.

“Don’t worry.”

The sound dies down momentarily when Yoori mentions the extra keycard you gave her for emergencies. Hoseok and Taehyung continue to jiggle the door for sport while chatting idly. Meanwhile, you crawl underneath the sheets and re-emerge on Jungkook’s side of the bed. You look him over, as if searching for something. He’s about to ask what you’re looking for when you reach out and pinch both his cheeks suddenly. While he’s mid-yelp, you swoop in and nip at his lips. It’s quick but it was just harsh enough that his face looks blotchy and his mouth starts to swell.

He whines. “Is this because I called them your friends?”

“Just trust me,” you hiss before your hands disappear further down the sheets to tug off your own underwear and throw it towards the door.

A moment later, the door swings open to reveal Yoori, Hoseok, and Taehyung. Their smiles are bright until they take in the scene. Jungkook’s hair is a mess, his cheeks are flushed, and his mouth looks like it’s been lightly ravaged. Though you’re mostly covered with the sheets, the underwear that is very clearly not on your body and the way the sheets drape over your head as you lay between his knees tell a very convincing lie.

“I think I just caught that stomach bug.” Yoori says lightly, still smiling. Hoseok peers behind her, looking mildly interested.

“I hate it when I remember they have sex with eachother,” Taehyung buries his face in his friend’s shoulder looking mortified as Yoori slowly closes the door.

“Yeah, it’s kind of like walking in on your aunt and uncle doing it. But, like, 12 times worse.”

Jungkook basks in the new silence for a few moments before it’s replaced with the rustle of sheets.

“What are you doing” he trails off to a whisper as you tug the waistband of his underwear down. Your hands still.

“You don’t want to have boat sex?”

“No, no, I do. I wanna have boat sex.”

He nods intensely and you laugh at how earnest he still is. Jungkook’s cheeks flare up, now doubly red from quiet excitement.

“Guess I should have just proposed this, huh?”

“Yeah,” you hum thoughtfully while moving on your knees to straddle his hips. “I can't see how this would have ruined anyone’s fun.”

“I can think of a couple people’s fun we just ruined.”

“I really meant my fun. Speaking of which,” you settle onto his lap and begin to grind.

He shudders, head falling forward with a sigh. This, he thinks, is the real happiest place on earth.

(ARTICLE) 180506 Introducing Privé by BBH, a Unisex Streetwear Label From EXO’s Baekhyun: Exclusive

It’s hard to overstate the power of Baekhyun. The multi-talented singer and dancer, who first broke onto the scene as a member of EXO (the K-pop phenomenon last seen closing the 2018 Winter Olympics), has a social following in the millions (12.6 million on Instagram alone) that is incredibly engaged. In January, for instance, he posted a filtered snap of a corn streusel muffin on a white plate, and the vegan bakery immediately sold out its entire stock; so did the platemaker. Soon after, he appeared in a video wearing a nondescript white long-sleeve tee; it too sold out within hours. Now, a new label is smartly tapping into that influence by appointing him to his own brand: Privé by BBH, which will launch July 1 with an initial six-piece collection of unisex streetwear, to be followed by monthly drops. The project began last year when New York and L.A.–based fashion editor and stylist Danyl Geneciran came onto Privé as brand director; rather than find a famous face to blindly endorse the clothes, he wanted a true collaborator. “I really wanted an artist to be hands on and really committed to being part of the brand,” he says. During his time as fashion editor for L’Officiel, he worked closely with SM Entertainment, the Korean entertainment company that manages EXO, and thought to reach out to them (admittedly, imagining Baekhyun’s bandmate Chanyeol, a vocal fashion fan)—they immediately came back and suggested Baekhyun, now Privé’s co-creative director. Their first meeting took place in October at SM’s HQ in Seoul. Baekhyun arrived in head to toe Supreme, save for a pair of Balenciaga sneakers—“and that’s when I saw the fit,” Geneciran says. “His personal style.” “Lately, I’d been thinking that I’d like to wear clothes that my thoughts have gone into,” Baekhyun tells Vogue. “And so, I was so incredibly excited to collaborate with Privé—because I too love streetwear, I wanted to make street clothes!” The star describes his own style as hewing to easy basics that still catch the eye—his ideal summer outfit, for instance, is a white tee and jeans—ergo his preference for the simple sweats that characterize most streetwear. “When you imagine comfy and cool clothes, it’s definitely streetwear, isn’t it?” he adds, smiling. [NEWS] Baekhyun - 180507 Vogue Magazine: “Introducing Privé by BBH, a Unisex Streetwear Label From EXO’s Baekhyun: Exclusive”

The project began last year when New York and L.A.–based fashion editor and stylist Danyl Geneciran came onto Privé as brand director; rather than find a famous face to blindly endorse the clothes, he wanted a true collaborator. “I really wanted an artist to be hands on and really committed to being part of the brand,” he says. During his time as fashion editor for L’Officiel, he worked closely with SM Entertainment, the Korean entertainment company that manages EXO, and thought to reach out to them (admittedly, imagining Baekhyun’s bandmate Chanyeol, a vocal fashion fan)—they immediately came back and suggested Baekhyun, now Privé’s co-creative director. Their first meeting took place in October at SM’s HQ in Seoul. Baekhyun arrived in head to toe Supreme, save for a pair of Balenciaga sneakers—“and that’s when I saw the fit,” Geneciran says. “His personal style.”

“Lately, I’d been thinking that I’d like to wear clothes that my thoughts have gone into,” Baekhyun tells Vogue. “And so, I was so incredibly excited to collaborate with Privé—because I too love streetwear, I wanted to make street clothes!” The star describes his own style as hewing to easy basics that still catch the eye—his ideal summer outfit, for instance, is a white tee and jeans—ergo his preference for the simple sweats that characterize most streetwear. “When you imagine comfy and cool clothes, it’s definitely streetwear, isn’t it?” he adds, smiling.

Obviously that’s going to happen because of your schedules, it was hard to stay consistent in the relationship. For example, you both used to text or facetime everyday, but then that turned to once a week when a big event is coming up. Another example is when you both have to cancel dates on weekends, because of work or family emergencies. This almost led to you breaking up at some point and it was frustrating to deal with. This is when he starts being hard on himself because he wishes he can be with you all the time, but he knows he can’t do that.

[TRANS] "Ten" Thai in Korea, determined to improve and gain experiences

After debuting and becoming a Korean idol in the band “NCT”, how do feel when someone refers to you as “Ten NCT”?

At first, I was unfamiliar with Ten NCT, because everyone used to call me Ten SM Rookies, including the people in Thailand. However, after debuting with NCT, I feel very happy that our group finally has its own name (smiles); that we have our own signatures. When people call our names and follow with “NCT”, it makes me feel very proud - like we’ve accomplished part of our goal. But for me, this is only the beginning.

From the time where you were a trainee to today where you get to stand on a stage, how do you feel and in which areas do you think you have learned and improved on?

When I was a trainee, there were times where I went on stage to represent SM Rookies. After debuting, the excitement I felt on stage didn’t change much, but now, we have our own songs and we get to perform our own songs. This made me feel like I had to show my individuality for the fans to see. In terms of improvement, it’s probably confidence. When I was a trainee, I did feel like I had confidence, but it wasn’t that much. We had to do what the staff said. However, after debuting and performing on stage, we were able to express our emotions more. Other than this, I still practice regularly, in order to provide a show that improves every time.

These days, have you adjusted more to the Korean lifestyle?

Currently, I’ve adapted to the lifestyle by a lot. The thing I haven’t completely adjusted to is language. Right now, it’s at a certain point but I want to be able to speak it more fluently and I want to know more vocabulary and fix my accent to be clearer as well. However, in terms of food, I have no problem with it (smiles).

When do you feel tired and discouraged in Korea and how do you cope with it?

I felt most discouraged during my trainee days. When training, I wanted to see specific results, but sometimes, it takes more than just 1 or 2 days to get what you want. During these times, I felt very frustrated with myself and I thought about why I didn’t get those results. However, after debuting, I came to know that in order to master something, we have to collect those skills bit by bit. We also have to know our own bodies and not overdo anything. Thus, I believe we should think thoroughly and gradually practice. That is probably the best thing that we can do. As for when I get tired, the first thing I do is talk to my parents. Also, I always think about my goal before coming to Korea, and the reason why I want to join the entertainment industry. When I think about these things, it gives me motivation to keep on going.

Did you have any friends or sunbaes in SM that gave you advice?

Actually, all the sunbaes were kind to us and talked to us, especially Siwon from Super Junior. For example, during Chinese New Year, which occurs on the same day as the Lunar New Year in Korea, Siwon bought food for the all the international hoobaes to eat together. Taemin from Shinee also gave us advice and took care of us. At first, Siwon also came and spoke Thai with me, saying “sawadee krub” (hello), but these days he doesn’t say it anymore (laughing).

If you were to release a duet, who would you want to be your partner?

Oh, there are many people (smiles). In terms of Korean artists, if I had the chance, I would want to collab with Taemin Shinee because he’s my idol. I want to be skillful like him. As for my group members, I would want to try making a song with everyone, because everyone has different personalities, different taste in music. If we were to produce a song, the color of each song would be different; that’s why I would like to work with everyone. Personally, if I were able to duet, I would like to make a song with pop and R&B sounds with a medium tempo.

Could you talk about your experiences from performing in “Hit The Stage”?

It was the first place that I was able to show my dancing skills alone. At first, I was quite scared, because after debuting and going through tough competition, I had to compete with all these sunbaes from different groups. At first, I felt a lot of pressure (smiles), but after showing my stage, I felt unfettered and had a lot of fun. Being on this show made me know that I like dancing. Before this, there were some times where I felt like dancing was tiring, but after performing, I knew I truly liked dancing.

What did you learn from “Hit the Stage” and which of your performances do you like the most?

I learned about performing. When I was in SM Rookies, I once gave an interview about how I had trouble showing my facial expressions when I was performing. I think that if anyone tries, they can become a good dancer, but the most important thing is showing our emotions through our facial expressions. This is extremely challenging as it isn’t something we can copy from someone else. We have to incorporate our personality as well. At that time, I performed and tried to find more of my own personality, and that also gave me more confidence. As for the stages that I like the most, the first stage is called “Devil” and the stage that got me first place is “The Thunder”, which represented an orchestra in which I was a conductor for. The reason I chose this stage was because most of the time, I dance a lot, and sometimes, I want to challenge myself. This stage had both a lot of dancing and facial expressions. It was challenging in respect to the areas that I wanted to improve on. But really, I like every show I’ve done, it’s just these two shows that I had the most fun with and felt the most unfettered.

Let’s ask about “NCT” now. Which of your members speak the best Thai?

I think Taeyong has the best accent and Mark is the best overall. If he practiced a bit, he would probably speak very clearly. Actually, I don’t teach them Thai, but when the other members ask how to say something. Taeyong is the one who says “sawadee krup pom chue taeyong krub” (hello my name is Taeyong) most often. The Thai that I teach them is mostly numbers. For example, when Taeyong came to Thailand, I taught him how to count numbers in Thai, how to order food and drinks. I try to teach words that are used in everyday life.

Do you have any other dreams you want to achieve?

In the future, if given the chance, I would want to draw a lot and open my own gallery using pictures that I drew and photos that I took and let people come see it. I’ve always liked drawing. I used to learn drawing but then I stopped. Currently, I’ve started taking lessons once again. I mostly like drawing black and white sketches. Although they may not be that pretty (smiles) , but each drawing reflects my thoughts at the time. Of the photos I’ve drawn, there are many that I like. I really like flowers and the photo that I like the most is one of a flower, a butterfly, and a bee. It has a lot of meaning in itself. I have yet to draw my group members (smiles).

What principles do you apply in work?

The thing that I think about all the time is if we want something, then we have to try, not wait for an opportunity to arise alone. We have to consider both because we will never know when an opportunity will arise. Therefore, the thing that is best for us is to practice our hardest to prepare.

Can you share your experiences on coming back to Thailand to pay respects to the late king?

I was in Korea when I saw news of the late king. At that time, I was shocked. My manager came up to me and asked if something was wrong, if I was okay. I then called my mom and told her I wanted to go back to Thailand, I wanted to bow to king rama 9. My mom also wanted me to come back, so we talked to SM, and they accepted our request. That day, I came to line up at 6AM with my mom, my sister and a staff. We signed our names and mourned. I felt sad, and kind of empty, like something was gone. That day we came to bow to the king, it felt like we came to show our respects to our father.

In what ways do you feel impressed by His Majesty?

I know that His Majesty did a lot for Thai citizens, but the thing that I’m most impressed by is the Royal Rainmaking Project, because farming is very important in Thailand and we have many farmers. His Majesty showed us that he truly loves and cares for Thai citizens.

Your birthday is coming up. If you could make 1 wish, what would you ask for this?

I wish that I would be able to do things that I want to do in the future, and for NCT to become more popular around the world. If the members want to do anything, I hope that it comes smoothly (smiles).

Lastly, do you have any words for Thai fans, the people that have always supported you?

Thank you for always keeping up with NCT and me. Thank you for always supporting us through every project and cheering us on. In the future, if NCT and I were to repay and thank all our fans, it will probably be through one of our projects. The reason we work hard and do more work is to produce good projects to give to our Thai fans.
