request. Can you do g, k, n and P with Tsukki and Tendou? - anon
a/n. of course !! finally someone requested tendou ugh my bby i love him
Tumblr media
► now shuffling...
Tumblr media
g - gentle (how gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)
↳ he might come off as an asshole, but he’s actually super gentle. he never wants to make you uncomfortable.
k - kisses (what are their kisses like? where do they like to kiss you? where do they like to be kissed?)
↳ super slow. he would be hesitant to take soft kisses to french kisses, but once you do, he’s so good at it. just the right amount of kissing into the tongue, and it’s not too rushed. he loves kissing your cheeks and jawline, and he loves when you give him the softest forehead kisses.
n - night (how are nights spent with them?)
↳ he loves studying at night while listening to soft music, it could be lo-fi or classical. he lets you just chill on his bed while he finishes up. when he does, he instantly climbs in to cuddle you, and he lets you take his glasses off for him <3
p - patience (how easily angered are they?)
↳ he has a good amount of patience, but he does get irked very easily. it’s not even that he gets angry, he just kinda wonders why the thing that irked him happened in the first place.
Tumblr media
g - gentle (how gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)
↳ SO GENTLE ugh my baby just loves you so much and is so grateful that you saw past his differences. he wants to show you just how much he loves you by giving you the best bear hugs and the most significant compliments ever.
k - kisses (what are their kisses like? where do they like to kiss you? where do they like to be kissed?)
↳ also a pretty slow kisser. you would definitely have to initiate them since he’s still in that stage of your relationship where it’s just dreamland to him. he doesn’t want to break that image by rushing too fast and making you uncomfortable, thus letting you take initiative. he LOVES when you kiss his hands. he goes absolutely batshit when you kiss the bandages on his fingers. he loves kissing you wherever as long as you’re comfortable!
n - night (how are nights spent with them?)
↳ he loves to do face masks with you (if that’s a thing you’re into) and loves doing your nightly routines together. he likes to sing to you as you’re falling asleep <3
p - patience (how easily angered are they?)
↳ super super patient. he’s super understanding, and he doesn’t get angry easily. sure, he’ll get annoyed at things, but he tends to calm himself down fairly quickly.

Appropriations chair says review shows need for 'substantial investment' in Capitol security The report includes recommendations for increasing Capitol Police’s intelligence gathering capabilities, a permanent quick reaction force, mobile fencing that can replace the current temporary security structure and an overhaul of how members are protected in their home districts. In a closed-door briefing Monday afternoon, Republicans contended that the review should have been more bipartisan, a concern sources at the briefing said was raised by Republicans in the room and later echoed by Rep. Darrell Issa. “This was not a bipartisan investigation, this was Nancy Pelosi’s investigation,” Issa, a California Republican, told CNN. Issa said the Honoré task force is calling for “a lot of requests for money, not a really comprehensive plan at all,” questioning the report’s call for an additional 900 US Capitol Police officers and members of USCP’s force, when he said there were only 232 vacancies on January 6. A Republican at the briefing asked the task force members if any evidence ever materialized showing a GOP member was involved in planning the attack. The answer was no, according to a source who was in the room. Honoré was tasked by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi in January to lead a review of Capitol security, following the deadly riot. The report is the first detailed assessment addressing how to fix what went wrong at the Capitol when insurrectionists breached the Capitol walls and overran Capitol police who were badly outnumbered. The report touches on everything from the intelligence and emergency response failures to the staffing levels of the US Capitol Police. “The USCP were understaffed, insufficiently equipped, and inadequately trained to secure the Capitol and Members when violently attacked by a large mob,” the report concludes. House Appropriations Chairwoman Rosa DeLauro told reporters after leaving the Monday briefing that “there’s probably a substantial investment” Congress will have to make in security in light of Honoré’s recommendations. The Connecticut Democrat did not suggest she feels strongly about the proposal to have retractable fencing, telling reporters, “I want to continue to talk about that.” CNN first reported last month that that two sources said a draft copy of the review recommended adding more than 1,000 US Capitol Police officers, establishing a dedicated quick reaction force and building an integrated system of walls and fences around the Capitol complex. CNN reported on Thursday that Honoré had briefed senior members of Congress on the review, and Rep. Tim Ryan, an Ohio Democrat, said that he believes Honoré is “hitting the nail on the head” with his recommendations. But Democrats, too, questioned Honoré, with some leaving with more questions than answers. Democratic Rep. Pramila Jayapal of Washington told CNN that she asked Honoré to explain who made the calls about which security protocols would be put in place at the Capitol leading up to January 6, but Honoré said it was outside the scope of his investigation. “I wanted to know for January 6, who made those calls? … Was it the White House, was it our leadership, was it the Capitol Police board? Who was it?” she said. “The general said that that wasn’t part of the scope of the investigation — that there are other committees investigating that.” The Washington Democrat also asked him to say when the Capitol will be safe again. “My question is, when will we feel safe and if it’s not going to be for a while, what happens in the interim? What is the timeline,” Jayapal told reporters. “My question really was, how do we know we can come to work, and go home alive? And not have our lives threatened?” Jayapal said that Honoré told members they can feel safe right now and that there already are measures being put into place to assure everyone’s security at the Capitol. But when pressed by CNN about what kind of timeline Honoré gave about when certain security enhancements, such as the mobile and retractable fencing would be implemented, Jayapal said, “I didn’t get a clear answer to that.” Acting House Sergeant at Arms Timothy Blodgett sent a letter to all members this morning with a copy of Honoré’s task force findings and recommendations on Capitol Security ahead of the three member briefings Monday. More officers and mobile fencing The report recommends Capitol Police increase its staffing by more than 850, including filling more than 200 officer vacancies, adding an additional 350 officers and hiring more than 400 positions to fill gaps, such as intelligence specialists, operational planners and Civil Disturbance Unit personnel. In addition, Honoré’s report found that security across the House’s 900 district offices was “inconsistent.” The task force recommends funding for every congressional district office to be equipped with proper security systems, along with home security systems for members where warranted. At the Capitol, the report recommends a mobile fencing option that is “easily erected and deconstructed,” along with a long-term, retractable fencing system for the Capitol and congressional office buildings. The proposal acknowledges the opposition that’s emerged to proposals for making the fencing around the Capitol permanent. “Such a solution could enable an open campus while giving security forces better options to protect the complex and its Members should a threat develop,” the report says. Democratic Rep. Raja Krishnamoorthi of Illinois told CNN he was supportive of modifying the fencing around the Capitol, but said it is important to keep the Capitol accessible. “I think there’s a sense that it’s a little too much of a fortress. And, you know, if we become a fortress and completely inaccessible to the public in some ways I think that the insurrectionists win,” Krishnamoorthi said. “And so we’ve got to out a different formulation at this point.” The task force also recommends conducting background checks for those who receive identification cards at the Capitol, which includes members and their staffs, which the report says would “decrease insider threat risks and enhance the safety of all Members, staff, and legislative employees.” That proposal could face resistance from Republicans, who have bristled over security steps Pelosi has taken inside the Capitol to install metal detectors right outside the House chamber. Jayapal called Honoré’s recommendations “thorough,” and commended the task force for identifying the key areas that Congress needs to invest in, which means that money needs to be approved quickly. “A lot of it depends on us approving this money quickly,” Jayapal said. “We need to hire these people we need to train them we need to get the technology set up we need to get the retractable fences and if we’re going that direction. Those are things that are going to require Congress to appropriate money.” Capitol Police said in a statement of the report: “The U.S Capitol Police looks forward to reviewing the detailed recommendations from Lt. General Russel Honoré and his team. We believe enhancements to the Capitol complex’s physical infrastructure are required. We also agree we need to increase our manpower and overall response capabilities.” ‘Too slow and cumbersome’ The task force takes aim at the multiple intelligence and communication failures from January 6. The report concludes Capitol Police was not postured to handle intelligence threats “due to significant capacity shortfalls, inadequate training, immature processes, and an operating culture that is not intelligence-driven.” The recommendations included an increase of trained intelligence analysts and more integration of intelligence functions into Capitol Police leadership daily operations and planning. “This will require a dramatic, consistent, leader-driven shift in the USCP’s cultural mindset toward threat-based operations and decision-making,” the report says. The task force concluded that the Capitol Police Board’s “deliberate decision-making process proved too slow and cumbersome” on January 6, recommending changes to how external law enforcement support is requested. The report recommends a dedicated quick reaction force that could be used not just at the Capitol but across Washington, taking either from existing law enforcement entities or by creating it under the command of the DC National Guard. The report proposes Capitol Police make several changes to specialized units. It recommends keeping civil defense unit platoons on duty whenever Congress is in session, increasing the size of its explosive detection dog teams and re-establishing a mounted horse unit, which was disbanded in 2005. “Best used in high pedestrian and dense crowd areas, a well-trained horse and rider can assist in controlling crowds or quelling disturbances with few serious injuries to demonstrators,” the report says. Leaving Monday’s briefing, Democratic Rep. Steven Horsford of Nevada referred to Honoré’s report as “comprehensive,” laying out “a number of clear recommendations.” Horsford told reporters that one member in the briefing made the point that resources could differ between every day and special occasions, seeming to push back on the suggestions Honoré and his team are making. “I think one of the other members was making a point that there’s one set of resources that needs to happen on a special event occasion versus every day, and the ability to be able to mobilize quickly and utilize the resources on a dime when necessary, and be able to take them down when they’re not needed,” he said. “Being able to maintain public access is a cornerstone of our democracy and the people’s house, especially on the House of Representatives side.” This story has been updated with additional developments Monday. Other cleaning services charge hourly rates from $25 to $60 per hour. The rate is usually based on the type of cleaning required, with light cleaning falling on the lower end of that price range and deep cleaning on the higher end.
Some cleaning services also charge a flat monthly fee, which is also based on the size of your office and the type of cleaning required. However, the average price for small offices is generally in the neighborhood of $500 to $800 per month. Large offices are apt to pay anywhere from $2,000 to $5,000 per month.
Most office cleaning companies will ask you to sign a one to three year contract. However, there should be at least some clause that allows you to cancel the contract if you're not happy with the services.

request. b, j, q, and r with tsukki maybe? 😳 also congrats on 200 followers!! 🤍 - @tsukisemi
a/n. thanks bby!! oo yes tsukki hehe! have a good day/night! <3
Tumblr media
► now playing...
Tumblr media
b - best friend (what would they be like as a best friend? how would the friendship start?)
↳ the friendship would start by you being friends with yamaguchi or being in the same class as them. he would act cold at first, but then he would start to notice how cute you are and he would try to avoid you to push those feelings away. spoiler alert, it doesn’t work. he wants to be around you so much he just lets it slip that he likes you! oops!
j - jealousy (how jealous do they get? what do they do when they’re jealous?)
↳ oh my god...he gets so jealous. if you’re around yamaguchi it’s perfectly fine. if you’re around kageyama and hinata however...he will literally grab your wrist and drag you outside (possibly to make out with you)
q - quizzes (how much would they remember about you? do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
↳ he has such a good memory! of course, he hates how vulnerable he sounds at first when he memorizes little details about you, but if you praise him for how good his memory is he melts even more than he already has. he wants you to be happy with him 🥺
r - remember (what is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
↳ he has so many favourite moments, but his ultimate favourite would probably be when he first opened up about his trust issues and issues with his brother. he saw how invested you were in making him more comfortable around you, and for that he’s forever grateful.

Surprise? Iranian Contemporary Art Leads Market
A rule of thumb: Work by any artist you have ever heard of is probably quite expensive and likely out of your price range. The search for good and not astronomically priced original artwork may lead some prospective collectors to art colleges’ senior shows, to sidewalk art fairs and flea markets, to out-of-the-way auctions or art galleries, to the work of artists at the second tier of some major movement or to hunt through decades-old reviews of artists who seemingly have dropped off the radar but might be primed for a comeback. It might also take you to work by artists in or from foreign countries. The “globalization” of the art market has produced a large supply of new work by artists in China, India, Africa, South America and the Middle East. In many cases, the number of new artists has far outstripped the volume of new collectors in these countries, creating the opportunity for reasonable prices until the collectors catch up.
Let’s focus on the Middle East, particularly Iran, one of the most populous countries in the region and the one that produces by far the largest number of artists. While much of the world views Iran in terms of its nuclear ambitions, its undeclared sponsorship of terrorist organizations and its home-grown dissident movement, the art world is seeing the recent emergence of a scores of Iranian visual artists on the international scene whose prices are expected to rise considerably over the next five to 10 years. Theirs is not an art of jihadic propaganda – no portraits of mullahs and ayatollahs, no pictures of conquering soldiers (Iran is not North Korea after all) – but an art, produced by Iranians, both living in Iran and in other countries, which reflects many of the same interests and concerns of artists in the West and elsewhere. In short, it is artwork that is competing increasingly for attention on the world stage.
Thirty years ago, the term “Iranian student” was synonymous with hostage-taker, and selling weapons surreptitiously to “moderates” in the Iranian government got the Reagan Administration in trouble. However, since the disputed presidential elections in June of 2009 the rest of the world has seen a forward-looking middle class and a freedom-seeking youth culture that was always there but hidden by the official rhetoric. These artists may be putting their nation’s best foot forward.
“The Iranian public, especially artists, is very connected with the rest of the world through traveling and particularly through the Internet,” said video artist Shoja Azari, who lives in Manhattan. “Iranians are the greatest number of bloggers in the world. The uprising that took place last June after the elections in Iran was a FaceBook and Twitter revolution.” That view was seconded by Farbod Dowlatshahi, an Iranian retired oil refinery builder and art collector (1,891 and counting paintings, sculptures, installations and videos) currently living in Dubai, who noted that “for 30 years, the only message that came out of Iran was negative. Because of the current political situation, the only positive message coming out of Iran is the young people. The younger artists are promoting a very positive future.”
Signs of the growing interest in contemporary Iranian art are unmistakable. In the summer of 2009, the Chelsea Art Museum in New York City exhibited 210 artworks (paintings, sculptures, photography, video and installation pieces) by 56 contemporary Iranian Artists in a show called “Iran Inside Out.” Also last summer, a show of artwork by young contemporary artists in Tehran were featured at London’s Asia House and, in 2008, the Missoula Art Museum in Montana held an exhibition of contemporary photography from Iran (“Persian Visions”). A year earlier, a U.S. State Department-sponsored exhibit of younger Iranian artists, titled “Wishes and Dreams,” toured nine U.S. cities.
Individual artists have also made an impression. The work of conceptual artist Mahmoud Bakhshi Moakhar (b. 1977), who won last year’s inaugural Magic of Persia prize – awarded annually to an emerging Iranian artist by the London-based foundation Magic of Persia – is being exhibited currently at the Saatchi Gallery in London. Y.Z. Kami, who was born in Tehran in 1956 and currently lives in the U.S., had his work featured at the Istanbul Biennial (2005), Museum of Modern Art (2006) and the Venice Biennale (2007). With works already in the collections of the Whitney Museum, the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum, he is represented by the Gagosian Gallery in Manhattan, which is as A-list as an artist can get. Shirin Neshat, a filmmaker and photographer born in 1957 in Qasvin and living in New York City with her husband Shoja Azari, has had her work acquired by the Tate Gallery in London and the Guggenheim and the Museum of Modern Art in New York. She won the international award at the 1999 Venice Biennale for her video work and the Silver Lion in 2009 at the Venice Film Festival for her film “Women without Men.” She has been represented by New York’s Barbara Gladstone Gallery since 2000. Back in 2000, Neshat’s still images sold for $ 2,000-3,000 but have reached $ 200,000 at the secondary market, according to one of the gallery’s directors, Max Falkenstein.
Many other Iranian artists have earned plaudits and enthusiastic buyers but continue to be represented by art galleries that feature contemporary Middle Eastern art, such as LTMH Gallery in New York City (www.ltmhgallery.com), as well as Rose Issa Projects (www.roseissa.com), Waterhouse & Dodd (www.waterhousedodd.com), Berardi and Sagharchi Projects (www.artnet.com/gallery/425718123/berardi-and-sagharchi-projects-ltd.html) and Osborne Samuel Gallery (www.osbornesamuel.com) in London.
The fourth annual art fair, Art Dubai, took place this past March, featuring 70 galleries from 30 countries and a variety of art exhibits. Dubai opened its first contemporary art museum in 2009 (Tehran’s Museum of Contemporary Art opened in 1977), and the Guggenheim is expected to open its Abu Dhabi branch in 2012.
Perhaps nothing, however, has demonstrated the desirability of Iranian and other Middle Eastern contemporary art more than the auctions that have taken place in Dubai and Qatar. Christie’s was the first international auction house on the scene, holding its first sale in Dubai in 2006, followed by Sotheby’s (in Doha, Qatar) and Phillips de Pury (in London) in 2009, and these have become twice-annual events. “This is the wealthiest area in the world,” said Lina Lazaar, a contemporary art specialist at Sotheby’s who arranges the auction house’s sales. “When the collecting spirit and habit has matured, you can expect prices to jump.”
And there lies the opportunity for buyers right now. Ordinarily, one wouldn’t want to get into a bidding war with people of unimaginable wealth, but many of the richest people in the Middle East are not yet collectors of the contemporary artists in their midst. “Traditionally, Iranians have bought carpets as investment,” said Mamak Nourbakhsh, owner of Tehran’s Gallery Mamak. “Today we see many rich Iranians buying artwork and in rather large numbers. Indeed, this has already led to higher prices for the works of many artists and has affected the art market here in general.”
For the past three years, London’s Waterhouse & Dodd Gallery has arranged an annual survey of contemporary Middle Eastern contemporary art in its gallery, as well as created mini-shows in its booths at art fairs in Dubai and Abu Dhabi, in order to spur greater interest in collecting this art. At present, owner Ray Waterhouse claimed, the greatest potential for growth in buying “is still in the Middle East. We have sold many photographs and oils up to a value of $ 100,000 in the West, but above that price the collectors tend to be Middle Eastern buyers in the Middle East or living in the West.” Becoming a patron of the arts has developed considerable cachet among the rich in this part of the world, for it is “the desire of locals to collect and to be seen collecting.” He noted that he has given talks in Kuwait, Abu Dhabi and Dubai on how to build a collection, and one of those talks was to the crown princess of Abu Dhabi (“and 23 princesses in her family”).
Lazaar noted that Middle Eastern collectors have looked to Western institutions, such as the auction houses, and collectors to signal which of their artists are of greatest value and importance. “The auction houses have filtered the information and reduced it to two sales a year,” she said. “Because no institutions did this type of job until a few years ago, we’re doing a lot of the curating job that a museum would do.” She added that Iranian and other Middle Eastern art galleries have used the auction houses’ catalogues as a way to educate their buyers, because of the critical essays in them. Back home, the University of London also made a purchase of 200 catalogues from one sale for one of its Middle Eastern art courses. Prices for works by contemporary Iranian artists have risen sharply in the past decade. Leila Taghinia-Milani Heller, an Iranian art gallery owner in Manhattan, noted that prices for Shoja Azari’s work has risen from $ 15,000 in 2007 to “upwards of $ 40,000” now, while Detroit-based Shiva Ahmadi’s paintings were priced as low as $ 800 in 2004 and now reach $ 18,000. Rose Issa, an Iranian gallery owner in London, noted that “in 2002, paintings by Farhad Moshiri sold for £1,000 – today they sell for one hundred times this initial price. Photographs by Shadi Ghadirian that were purchased in 2000 for £100 now run into the tens of thousands, as do the large panels by Chant Avedissian. Similarly, the young Lebanese artist Ayman Baalbaki’s prices have tripled in the last three years. Investors would rarely achieve such returns on the stock market.” Farbod Dowlatshahi stated that when he began collecting the paintings of Charles Hossein Zenderoudi in 2006, the prices (“ridiculously low”) were €10,000; the most recent work he purchased by the artist, in 2007, was for €500,000. A painting by another artist he has collected in depth, Rokni Haerizadeh, cost $ 7,000 in 2006, far less than the $ 75,000 he spent this past March at Art Dubai.
With these auctions, price records are being set regularly: In October 2009 at Sotheby’s sale in Doha, Y.Z. Kami’s painting “Blue Dome I” earned £73,250, a record for the artist, beating the previous record of £39,650; Ramin Haerizadeh’s painting “Election is Sh…t!” earned £12,500, a new record surpassing the old one of £8,125; Farhad Ahrarnia’s mixed media on canvas “The Flesh of Words” brought £15,000, bypassing the previous record of £5,000. The auctions certainly are showing the potential. In May of 2009, at the height of the worldwide recession, Christie’s sale in Dubai resulted in many lots matching and exceeding estimates, including Charles Hossein Zenderoudi’s painting “Wav + Wav + VE” ($ 206,500, estimate $ 150,000-200,000), Sohrab Sepehri’s untitled painting from his “Tree” series ($ 182,500, estimate $ 150,000-200,000), an untitled painting by Mohammed Ehsai ($ 152,500, estimate $ 80,000-120,000), Abolghassem Saidi’s triptych painting “Trees” ($ 146,500, estimate $ 80,000-110,000), Mohammed Ehsai’s painting “A Bunch of Daffodils” ($ 140,500, estimate $ 120,000-180,000) and Afshin Pirhashemi’s photography-based painting from his “X Series” ($ 122,500, estimate $ 40,000-60,000). Saidi’s $ 146,500 set an auction record for the artist.
Although prices are increasing, there still remains a long way to go before they top off. Lazaar stated that, although Sotheby’s will continue to hold its semi-annual Arab and Iranian Art sales, the auction house plans to incorporate the work of some of the top Middle Eastern artists into its regular contemporary art sales, an acknowledgment that these artists are no longer of regional interest primarily.
Having Iranian artists names mentioned in the same breath as other internationally known contemporary artists in the U.S., Europe and elsewhere is the goal of the galleries and auction houses, and that appears to be the path on which the art market is moving. Ali Y Khadra, the Dubai-based publisher of the art publication Arab Magazine, for instance, noted that his sizeable collection includes pieces by contemporary Western artists, such as “Sylvie Fleurie, Julian Opie, Aaron Young, Anselm Reyle, Jeff Koons and Karl Lagerfeld, to name a few.” However, “around 30 percent of my art collection consists of contemporary Iranian artworks. It mostly includes paintings, but I also have sculptures, photographs and videos. The collection comprises works by Parviz Tanavoli, the Haerizadeh brothers, Farhad Ahrania, Reza Derakshani, Reza Aramesh, Nicky Nodjoumi, Sadegh Tirafkan, Fereydoun Ave, Farideh Lashai and many others.”

Scientists across the US are scrambling to save government research in ‘Data Rescue’ events
Groups are downloading and archiving government data out of fear the Trump administration might delete it.
Some sites have already undergone changes.
A Congressional caucus and the New York Attorney General's office are also starting to address the issue.
Laptops in hand, roughly 150 people descended on an NYU building over the weekend to spend their Saturday downloading data.
Amid pizza boxes stacked next to a variety of 2-liter soda bottles, volunteers — mostly programmers, software developers, system administrators, scientists, and librarians by day — made their way through a list of government websites, flagging them to be preserved and downloading the data sets they contained.
The 8-hour event, called Data Rescue NYC, is the latest in a series of similar gatherings organized by a group called the Environmental Data and Governance Initiative (EDGI). The organization is attempting to download and archive data generated by government agencies like the EPA and NOAA that they believe is at risk of being taken down by the Trump administration. EDGI is also working to save versions of webpages and monitor sites for changes to wording about topics like climate change.
By the end of the day on February 4, the New York volunteers had archived over 5,000 websites and downloaded nearly 100 gigabytes worth of data sets.
The downloading efforts have only been underway for a few months — EDGI formed after Trump’s election — but the work is already yielding results. The group’s monitoring work has revealed that descriptions of the negative environmental impacts of coal, as well as graphs showing the carbon dioxide emissions levels associated with different energy sources, are gone from the EIA website. On the EPA’s site, references to the US commitment to UN climate negotiations have been deleted, and phrasing has been changed on a variety of pages to emphasize “adapting” to climate issues, rather than mitigating the problem by addressing emissions.
EDGI has also found that reports detailing the progress made on President Obama’s Climate Action Plan have disappeared from the State Department’s website. The plan itself was briefly taken down and then put back up.
“We feel like the administration has been called on a couple things they’ve tried to take down, and they’ve backtracked on a few things,” says Jerome Whitington, an anthropology professor at NYU who is also a member of EDGI and helped plan the Data Rescue event. “Basically they know they’re being watched.”
Within 24 hours of registration opening for the New York Data Rescue day, all 200 slots were full, Whitington says. A similar event held in Ann Arbor, Michigan on January 27 attracted 350 volunteers. Another is planned at MIT on February 18.
The issue has gained so much traction among the scientific community, in fact, that the Congressional Transparency Caucus is now trying to figure out how to support data preservation efforts — or even how to create government archives to keep this problem from arising in the future.
“We can't just capture everything at the end of an administration,” Congressman Mike Quigley, who co-chairs the bipartisan caucus and represents Illinois’s 5th district, tells Business Insider. “It needs to happen on an ongoing basis so that you're not waiting until the end and then — heaven forbid.”
Quigley says the need to archive data gathered by government agencies — beyond just environmental findings — and make it accessible to the public is an important priority. He and Darrell Issa, the caucus' other co-chair, held a briefing about the issue last week. Quigley has also been working to compel the Congressional Research Service to make its reports public since early 2016, and now hopes to help groups like EDGI coordinate and even get funding for their efforts.
“The federal government is the largest scientific institution in the country. We engage in research across every scale, from botany to nuclear energy and everything in between — critical information for how we base our decisions that’s owned by the American people,” he says. “We base our policies on the best information we have. If you can't determine what the truth is, then we are lost because the world is an increasingly complicated place and it's difficult to make those decisions.”
Beyond being used to inform policy decisions and scientific research, environmental data collected by the government is often cited in legal cases, so a movement has emerged to preserve it for those purposes as well.
On January 24, plaintiffs in a landmark climate lawsuit filed a legal request for preservation of all electronically stored information related to government knowledge of climate change and its effects. The case, which was brought by 21 young people between ages 9 and 20, alleges that because the federal government knew the risks of climate change but has done little to address its causes, it violated future generations’ rights to life, liberty, and property.
“We are concerned about how deep the scrubbing effort will go,” plaintiff attorney Julia Olson said in a statement at the time. “Destroying evidence is illegal and we just put these new U.S. Defendants and the Industry Defendants on notice that they are barred from doing so."
The New York Attorney General’s office is also worried about what a lack of available information could mean for their current and future cases. Amy Spitalnick, the office’s press secretary, says the Attorney General’s team has been downloading data, too.
“We’ve been working to preserve information from the federal government’s databases, such as scientific info compiled under prior administrations on issues like climate change,” she says. “That info is vital to our legal work protecting New Yorkers.”
At the Data Rescue event, volunteers were divided into different groups. Most worked on saving pages (based on a list EDGI had created beforehand), while others downloaded data that couldn’t be captured by the web crawler. Programmers in a separate room worked on developing software that will be able to watch websites and create alerts when there are changes. In another space, a group of archivists were working to keep everything organized, and discussing ways to eventually get the downloaded information onto a new, non-governmental, publicly accessible platform. University librarians started a conversation about how libraries can help with the project.
“It’s definitely a powerful counterpoint to the administration’s line and the movement in the House of Representatives to suppress the EPA right now,” Whitington says. “It definitely seems like we’re proving that Americans of all different stripes really care about this stuff.”
Even so, he says, compared to the profusion of environmental data that’s out there, the amount EDGI members and volunteers have downloaded so far is just a drop in the bucket. Smaller follow-up work groups, where local volunteers can meet for a few hours in the evening, are already being planned.
Mike Quigley agrees that compiling all the government’s data into one archive or platform, even if just on one topic, is an immensely difficult task — for a group of volunteers or even for the government itself.
“It's a little daunting, especially considering that the administration is determined to keep us busy with the tweet of the day,” he says. “Right now I'm just worried about them shutting the switch off on things and doing ‘delete, delete.’”

a/n. yes of course !! the name bubs is making me so happy wiehiwhf

► now shuffling...
Tumblr media
o - open (when would they start revealing things about themselves? do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)
↳ he would probably start opening up a little later, but he’s not so worried about it. relationships are supposed to be relaxing, so why worry you with his anxiety? he doesn’t feel the need to worry you, so he tells you real quick, making sure you have enough time to tell him about yourself if you want.
q - quizzes (how much would they remember about you? do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
↳ he remembers everything and he’s not ashamed about it. he wonders why anyone would feel ashamed to remember things about the person they love?
r - remember (what is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
↳ when he first asked you out. he was out jogging and he couldn’t stop thinking about you and your supportiveness towards him and the team and your cute face and- oh. he’s at your house. it’s now or never. 9 pm, he let all his feelings pour out as his eyes are facing the ground, clenching shut as he waits for you to tell him off. except, he receives something warm on his cheek.
t - try (how much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
↳ a lot of effort!!!! he’s a homebody so i believe he would rather stay close to home to avoid any anxiety-inducing situations. he loves buying you stuff even if it’s not for a special occasion.
u - ugly (what would be some bad habits of theirs?)
↳ he forgets to help himself. he’s so focused on helping pick bokuto back up that he forgets he needs someone to be there for him. this cycle goes on and on until he just self-destructs, pushing people away. even bokuto.
y = yuck (what are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)
↳ i believe he’s open to being with anyone, crazy or shy, but he absolutely does not like someone who’s solely dependent on the assurance of others.
Tumblr media
o - open (when would they start revealing things about themselves? do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)
↳ i think he would start talking about things right away. probably even before the relationship starts. he trusts you with his whole being <3
q - quizzes (how much would they remember about you? do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
↳ he remembers a lot. like a lot a lot. remember that time back in junior high when you said something funny about cats? you don’t? kuroo remembers.
r - remember (what is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
↳ you had promised him that he would pass his test, and he did. you also promised that you would give him as many kisses as his score said. he got 97% so, naturally, you gave him ninety-seven kisses. some of them melted into each other, while others were simple pecks that made his heart race just as much as the makeout sessions ;)
t - try (how much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
↳ he would try to impress you LOL. he’d act like it’s a competition. kuroo, honey, a competition against who?? seriously, he’d try to take you to the most exciting dates, he would buy you expensive gifts, and he just keeps setting the bar higher each passing day.
u - ugly (what would be some bad habits of theirs?)
↳ he begins to shut down occasionally. he’s naturally shy since his childhood, so when he feels his new personality slipping and he reverts to his old ways, he begins to beat himself up for not being stronger.
y = yuck (what are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)
↳ girls with short hair 😌 IM JUST KIDDING IHSUIUHEH he doesn’t really like when people are show-offish. he believes you need to be humble. he just doesn’t understand why people feel the need to boast about things.
Tumblr media
o - open (when would they start revealing things about themselves? do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)
↳ he waits and waits. for a super long time. it’s excruciating to him because he’s begging himself to let you know exactly what people think and always have thought about him. that he’s a monstrosity; a human devoid of normal emotions. he’ll let it all spill out, whilst letting the tears flow freely.
q - quizzes (how much would they remember about you? do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
↳ he literally remembers the weirdest things. not even major things like what your cat’s name is, but weird things like what you named a worm you found on the street when you were five.
r - remember (what is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
↳ tying back to letter o; once he looked up to see if you were now disgusted by him, he was dumbfounded by how quickly you rushed to defend him. you were an angel to him, always making him feel as if he were floating. you saw past his differences, letting him into your life. you wrapped your rant up by telling him you loved him.
t - try (how much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
↳ HE DOESN’T EVEN HAVE TO TRY 🥺 bby is so excited to finally be able to go on all the fun dates he’s always dreamt of. he loves buying you clothes and pulling you out of your comfort zone, while making sure you’re not uncomfortable. you like those boyfriend jeans??? he wants to see you in them. he must buy.
u - ugly (what would be some bad habits of theirs?)
↳ (this is NOT an ugly trait to have!!) he has PTSD. from the teasing, the bullying, the name-calling. he has those days where he feels off and he knows he’s being rude, but he can’t help it. he’s bottling everything up and it’s on the verge of spilling into something terrifying. he’ll yell at people to leave him be, he’ll scream that he wants to be normal. will he show his friends what he’s really like? or will he push you away and assure you that yes, from the very beginning, he was a monster.
y = yuck (what are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)
↳ he cannot handle people who don’t know when to stop the joke!! the insult was funny at first, but now it’s just downright bullying. stop the teasing! it’s going way too far and tendou knows.

Tumblr media
i already did g here!
i - i love you (how fast do they say the l-word?)
↳ he says it so fast!! he just wants you to know how much he loves you and wants to be with you!!
k - kisses (what are their kisses like? where do they like to kiss you? where do they like to be kissed?)
↳ super energetic kisses! he loves kissing you on the lips and he won’t hesitate to do so if you’re in public. he loves being kissed on his jawline and neck <3
s - security (how protective are they? how would they protect you? how would they like to be protected?)
↳ he’s not super protective because he knows you’re fully capable of defending yourself, and if you can’t, you just need a little push in the right direction and he’s willing to do that for you!! he’d defend you using compliments, and it just fuels his ego when you do the same! (cue akaashi rolling his eyes)
Tumblr media
a - affection (how affectionate are they? how do they show affection?)
↳ he’s okay with affection, but enjoys it more behind closed doors. he’s not opposed to kissing in public though. his favourite way of showing affection would have to be kissing your face. he gives you a quick peck on the cheek every time the two of you part ways.
t - try (how much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
↳ he actually tries really hard !! he wants you to be happy with him so he always makes sure to take notes of which foods / gifts / places you do and don’t like so he can make dates and anniversaries perfect!!
y = yuck (what are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)
↳ he doesn’t like someone with an ego, which is really funny because he’s friends with oikawa. however, oikawa is an exception, since he knows how to deal with his inferiority complex and low self-esteem. it would be a different story if someone was full of themselves just because.

► now playing...
Tumblr media
a - affection (how affectionate are they? how do they show affection?)
↳ doesn’t even care if the two of you are making out in public. or so you think. he’ll smirk at you and anyone around, but as soon as he’s alone he needs an ice pack for his extremely red face. he won’t stop thinking about it. kithes are his favourite <3
b - best friend (what would they be like as a best friend? how would the friendship start?)
↳ honestly, yamamoto was so desperate for anyone cute to be the manager for nekoma’s volleyball club that he begged asked you. enter kuroo, who smacks yamamoto’s head, telling him off. he turns to you and he recognizes you from class. but, yamamoto was right; you ARE cute. huh. he’ll dote on you <3
c - cuddles (do they like to cuddle? how would they cuddle?)
↳ uhm… yes??? he’ll trap you in between his legs and let out his hyena laugh when you try to escape.
d - domestic (do they want to settle down? how are they at cooking and cleaning?)
↳ YES HE WANTS TO YES YES. he’s AMAZING at both. secretly loves baking too <3
e - ending (if they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?)
↳ he wants to hold on. he wants to show you how much he loves you, how much he cares and how badly he wants this to work out. he knows his pathetic begging isn’t changing your mind, so he self-destructs. he lashes out, ending it right then and there. he runs, hoping you don’t see the tears.
f - fiance(e) (how do they feel about commitment? how quick would they want to get married?)
↳ literally might propose to you at your graduation from college. he’s always passing by the jeweler, marveling at the tiny rings that hold the most important meanings. he wants to buy one so bad.
g - gentle (how gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?)
↳ he LOVES teasing you and the reactions you give him? priceless. BUT! he is extremely caring about your wellbeing so he’s always going to turn serious if you ask him to stop. it breaks his heart that he didn’t realize you were feeling down, but he makes it up with food, kisses, and cuddles. in that order.
h - hugs (do they like hugs? how often do they do it? what are their hugs like?)
↳ he LOVES hugs. super tight ones to be specific. he’s super cheesy and such a dork. he loves squeezing you and rocking from side to side and (idk if this makes sense but????) he loves leaning over so you’re leaning back and dipping you down (LMAOAJFOA THIS SOUNDS SO WEIRD)
i - i love you (how fast do they say the l-word?)
↳ he’s so nervous aw. he probably says it two to three months in. he’s so excited but so nervous he’s had to hold himself back from saying it like five times.
j - jealousy (how jealous do they get? what do they do when they’re jealous?)
↳ he doesn’t get jealous, he just becomes passive-aggressive towards someone who’s flirting with you.
k - kisses (what are their kisses like? where do they like to kiss you? where do they like to be kissed?)
↳ excited kisses!!! he also loves teasing you so he pulls back each time you go in to kiss him, showing you his signature smirk. he also bites your lips a lot LOL. he loves kissing you wherever you feel the best, and he becomes so soft when you kiss his hands.
l - little ones (how are they around children?)
↳ SO GOOD AROUND CHILDREN!! makes you wanna have/adopt some, huh? 🤔
m - morning (how are mornings spent with them?)
↳ he looks the same whenever he wakes up, and you tease him for this, earning a pillow to your face. he laughs at YOUR bedhead. how do you like them apples?
n - night (how are nights spent with them?)
↳ horror movies!! face masks!!! baking??? yes baking. he loves staying up late so he’ll do anything fun you recommend.
o - open (when would they start revealing things about themselves? do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?)
p - patience (how easily angered are they?)
↳ not angered easily. like i said before, passive-aggressiveness is his thing!!
q - quizzes (how much would they remember about you? do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?)
r - remember (what is their favorite moment in your relationship?)
s - security (how protective are they? how would they protect you? how would they like to be protected?)
↳ so protective. he’d act like he did in that one scene where he shook daichi’s hand. super passive-aggressive. likes to use intimidation techniques on anyone flirting with you. he swoons whenever you do the same.
t - try (how much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?)
u - ugly (what would be some bad habits of theirs?)
v - vanity (how concerned are they with their looks?)
↳ pshh.. he’s not concerned. okay yes he is. but also no. but he swears if one more person calls him emo-
w - whole (would they feel incomplete without you?)
↳ whenever something reminds him of you, he starts sobbing uncontrollably. it gets better and easier over time, but he still isn’t okay. why weren’t you two meant for each other? would you take him back? why didn’t god let your relationship happen? you were perfect, and still are, but not for him apparently.
x - xtra (a random headcanon for them)
↳ he’s never ever touched anyone like that. he has no idea how to please someone, so… oops :D
y = yuck (what are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?)
z - zzz (what is a sleep habit of theirs?)
↳ he needs a silk pillowcase. seriously. he’s given up on his hair already but he hates when it tangles so he sleeps with a silk pillow covering <3
