Arcane Odyssey is probably one of the best games I've played tbh, like it's not even finished and I'm so hyped for the story and everything Anyway, here's my Gravy Mage, Takoda. It's not 100% accurate to how she looks in-game but creative liberties ᕕ( ᐛ )ᕗ

TYPE 1 DIABETIC PRIDE FLAG
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Flags: Type 1 Diabetic with diabetes circle symbol | Ditto without symbols
T1D: Type 1 diabetes is a serious condition where your blood glucose (sugar) level is too high because your body can’t make a hormone called insulin. This happens because your body attacks the cells in your pancreas that make the insulin, meaning you can’t produce any at all.

Hey, how many canon T1 diabetic characters do you know about?
I kinda wanted to challenge myself to make a character in art everyday with visual equitment, symbols maybe, and anything else I can think of.
That sounds like a great idea! Let me know how it goes please :D
So here are the ones I know from media I have personally read/watched:
Alec Holland from Swamp Thing: Twin Branches by Maggie Stiefvater, a DC comic book. Specified as T1D.
Blue Broen from The Truth According to Blue by Eve Yohalem, a middle grade adventure novel. (I'm only a few pages in but T1D seems well done.)
Brian (and Rufus) from Rufus Comes Home by Kim Gosselin, a children's book featuring Rufus the Diabetic Bear! (I still have mine on a shelf--along with Ruby! Although I renamed her Rosetta :P put pods on 'em and everything.)
Cassie Salazar from Purple Hearts, a 2022 Netflix Original AND a romance novel by Tess Wakefield (which I have NOT read). Specified as T1D.
Hansel (played by Jeremy Renner) from the movie Hansel & Gretel: Witchhunters. He has an inaccurate, anachronistic form of diabetes referred to as ‘sugar sickness’ but it’s one of my favorite movies. Besides, the movie also has an automatic machine arrow-gun. Realistic it is not. Fun monster movie, it is. I want to write a medical fix-it fic SO bad but I don't know when.
Mackenzie Nolan from Let Me List the Ways by Sarah White, a YA contemporary romance. Specified as T1D.
Sal Vidon from Sal and Gabi Break the Universe by Carlos Hernandez, a Rick Riordan presents novel. Specified as T1D.
Stevie Hart from Lucky Few by Kathryn Ormsbee, a YA contemporary novel. Specified as T1D (but not until over 100 pages in :/ sorry I got personal beef with the book's rep but I saw a few people who liked it so... GREAT homeschooling rep tho)
Ones I have been reliably informed have T1D (or, you know, as close as we get) but have not personally read/watched:
Ezekiel from Agnes at the End of the World, a YA cult/post-apoc novel by Kelly McWilliams. Not sure if it's specified.
Captain Lantus from The Adventures of Captain Lantus, a children's book. Specified as T1D.
Kyle Broflovski and Scott Malkinson from the show South Park. I don't believe it's specified, and from what I've heard, SP makes fun of literally everything, but I know they've got a lot of fanfic in the ao3 diabetes tag!
Lucy Szabo from Sweetblood, a YA novel by Pete Hautman. Not sure if it's specified.
Dare Chase from The Girls Are Never Gone by Sarah Glenn Marsh, a YA horror fantasy novel. Not sure if it's specified.
Stacey Frick and one unnamed girl from Pixar's Turning Red movie. Both wear visible insulin pumps.
Stacey McGill from The Baby-Sitters Club, a middle grade series by Anne M Martin and a Netflix Original show. Specified as T1D.
Scott from Zebrafish by Sharon Emerson, a middle grade book. Not sure if it's specified.
Diabetes in Fiction is definitely worth a look. Their website sorts by both T1D or T2D and also by genre.
There are more lists here, but I haven't been able to verify them in any way yet:
a brief list and review of movies with T1D from DBL-diabetes
a brief list and review of shows with T1D from DBL-diabetes
An article from Healthline talking rep from both movies and shows
a rec list of kids books with T1D from the T1D Living blog
A list of children's books with T1D made by Disney and Lilly
A Goodreads list Romance Novels with Main Characters who have Diabetes
Another Goodreads list Fiction Books with Type 1 Diabetes
Yet another Goodreads list YA Books Featuring Type One Diabetes
Someone's pretty comprehensive Goodreads shelf of books that are supposed to have T1D
And another, smaller Goodreads shelf of T1D in Fiction
This was...probably way more than you need for your project, but I hope you find plenty of inspiration! (And new faves :D) I'm so excited to see what you come up with!

i should probably put bruce info here since i don't have a muse bio page yet (lmao lol i really need to code together a neat bio page)
right now my vibe is i'm sort of blending a lot of batman unburied, reeves stuff, and the few comics i actually like
i still adhere to chinese american bruce because i think it's interesting. the alienation, the complex intersections of race and religion and culture, all of which he tries to reject (be less of a person, be more of a symbol)
the way i handle bruce's playboy persona later in life is that it's a mask he's made because it is so oppositional to the persona of batman. it's something he can play at, a thing he's adapted to match his purposes, but
i am projecting type 1 diabetic stuff onto bruce. there's reasons for this. namely: 1.) thomas, a trauma surgeon, confronted with the kind of thing you literally cannot fix via medical intervention. 2.) if you're insane and know that your whole body is a big ball of scar tissue, an adrenaline port can also be an insulin port. he 100% will hit muscle to make insulin work faster 3.) i think it's funny as a fellow damaged pancreas haver. look, my dude's blood sugar is running high all the time. he's irritable. he's mad. shock of the bat finding a t1d kid having a bad one and knowing how to administer glucagon like a pro.
i am enjoying the new detective comics run! i like leaning into a gotham that is both Gothic and Alive. i will lean into this as well. think disco elysium shivers
he is a weird little car guy. but he's also got an english degree as part of the refusal to be a business boy for a long time. this explains how he monologues so aggressively. the guy is autistic if you couldn't tell

DESN3730 Branded storytelling / Design for campaigns
Project: A branded transmedia campaign (a minimum of three media platforms) with a pitch and campaign design.
Tumblr media
As this project was to design a campaign, first I needed to decide on the audience it would be put towards. I decided on a niche/smaller community, but one which I knew about extensively myself= the Type One Diabetes (T1D) community. Next, I felt I needed to identify a specific problem/aspect within the community and medical area which could be helped by a product or campaign I came up with. It was easy to nail down the troubles and problems with the typical T1D lifestyle, as I could relate it to myself, friends and family members who are also T1Ds.
Tumblr media
I created a customer mood board to help capture the 'overall' nature of T1D, how people live, what they look like, things they may see or hear typically, how they feel (physically, emotionally and mentally). From here i tried to further nail down a specific direction by highlighting what I wanted by brand/campaign to say to its audience (Understanding, Compassion, Healing, Helpful, Supportive).
Tumblr media
I created by first client/persona, and was further directed to look at the emotional impact T1D has on those diagnosed, and what tools or services are already available in helping this.
Tumblr media
From then, a rough transmedia plan was made to help get down some ideas which I thought would be solid to use/build off of later. The key values of the brand and persona were also listed, as to help in focusing the product plan and visual direction.
The transmedia plan was re-evaluated because I had thought of some better ideas which fit the concept better, and were more 'do-able' in the allotted time space.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
I started to develop a brand/logo as I was fully invested in the app concept now. This logo development first started by researching what and if there was an official logo or representative symbol for 'diabetes' in general. This led me to the blue circle- the official sign representing diabetes.
Tumblr media
Colours were brought in, as was type, and I had a solid 3 different logo choices and styles of choose from.
Tumblr media
After a while, this was the final style guide I had come up with. I also created 2 sets of secondary logos (one for the app cover and interface design), the other for product and additional branding.
Tumblr media
I created a second persona, as I felt it was better to have 2, instead of just 1, to help in showing the reach of the app use and it's range within the indented audience.
Tumblr media
The final media channels and their content are as follows:
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Overall, I enjoyed this project. At the start, it was very challenging and slightly overwhelming thinking about what to choose or where to focus and what area(s) I could target. It felt good, though, to focus on an area I felt comfortable in speaking about, and researching on, as the research I read could easily be understand right away by me. I also felt like I had a stronger connection with the proposed branding/campaign outcomes as I knew their purpose, knew how they could interact with/reach the intended audience, and knew why it could be successful.

My latest #tattoo — For the longest time, I’d see the symbols on the bottom on other people’s #t1d #tattoos and I’d wonder what they meant. I was starting to think they were some universal symbols meaning #diabetes Then I finally learned that they mean “I am greater than my highs and lows.” Damn if that didn’t hit home hard for me. I’ve been through countless highs and lows in my life thus far, most literally as it pertains to my #bloodsugar I wish I had fewer of them in my life, and I’m doing what I can to make that happen. But no matter what, I know I’m more than the peaks and valleys of my diabetes and my life. That’s why this tattoo means so much to me. Thank you, @chriscolorstheworld , for another fantastic job! I know I always come with the obscure ones, but you always hit them out of the park! #acmeink #acmeinktattoo #tat #t1dtattoo #tatted #tattedup #tattooart #tattooedgirls #type1diabetes #beyondtype1 #t1dwarrior #t1dlife #t1dlookslikeme (at ACME INK TATTOO) https://www.instagram.com/p/CKT0lWWnu9l/?igshid=10h2hqxlwfcab

Divabetic FB community member, Maria Cristina R. N. just sent me this message: "This is my "cake-symbol" of T1D and T2D, the light-blue circle that gets together all of us and all the efforts and battles we have to fight every every every day of our life. I thought that St.Valentino's Day was the right day to share all the love we all T1D have for ourselves and for the others even if so far from us! Greetings from Italy!"
