I haven't seen anyone mention it yet but I'm screaming about it in my head

The last of us episode 8 spoilers

Okay so the scene where Ellie is in the cage, and her and David are taking, right before Ellie breaks his finger. They have the little moment of Ellie's hand going beside David's, then David's on top of Ellie's, and then Ellie's on top of David's.

And right as his moves over hers, he's saying something along the lines of "I can take care of you". And it all clocks for Ellie. And she just goes "oh"

AND EVEN IN THAT LITTLE BASICALLY UNDER THE BREATH OH. you can hear the realization. That's the moment it all clocks that David doesn't want a friend. He wants her. Not despite her being a kid but because shes a kid.

And she's so smart about it, because she plays into it for a second to get the upper hand. She puts her other hand on his and leans in a bit more, and that's when she snaps his finger and goes for the keys.

Ellie was an animal trapped in a cage basically this whole episode but she was also calculating, she stayed away from him until she knew she could attempt an escape. And her angrily screaming "Ellie's the name of the little girl that broke your fucking finger", the venom in the words. The anger in her face, was so much more powerful than the game.

Bella Ramsey deserves all the awards, they're fucking phenomenal at their job and I can't believe I was ever wary about them being cast because I'm blown out of the fucking water with their acting.

Something I feel really isn't acknowledged enough is that theres a canon disabled character in house of ashes.

And they don't turn it into "oh no I'm disabled I'm useless/a burden in the situation :(" like a lot of media does. No, Eric just casually readjusts his prosthetic in the beginning and near the end of the game, but he's still as capable and badass as the rest
