#GenovaMedioevale #ottaviosemino #centrurionebracelli #Spinola #gioandreaansaldo #centro storico #GiovanniAntonioParacca #GioAndreaAnsaldo #NicolòSpinola #palazzideirolli #genova #rollidays #liguria #igersgenova #italy #architecture #rolli #art #beniculturali30 #archilovers #travel #architettura #lamialiguria #palace #ilsecoloxix #centrostoricogenova #genovaturismo #italia (presso Via San Luca) https://www.instagram.com/p/CqN7XN-IprH/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=

Yesterday I attended a lecture called “Stop Saving the Planet!:A 21st-Century Environmentalist Manifesto” by Jenny Price. I really wanted to attend this lecture because it could count as an “other” event and in one of my other design classes I am doing research on climate change. This lecture was the perfect way to kill two birds with one stone. The main points I want to share about from this lecture is that it first started off with a sort of tribute too the tribes that this land originally belonged to before they were forcefully kicked out. Another point Price mentioned was that environmentalism is mostly about your virtues. She also said that the definition of being human is to change the environment in order to live in it. Which I totally agree with. One of my most favorite part of the lecture was every time she talked about a news article with Trump’s face on it she would immediately show the next slide with a nice landscape on it so we wouldn't have to stare at his face. That was very amusing and thoughtful of her. Overall this lecture gave me a lot too think about. It actually made me think of more questions then finding answers to the questions I had prior to this lecture.

World Homeopathy Day - Keep moving forward!
World Homeopathy Day – Keep moving forward!
Life is all about challenges and our learning to overcome these challenges. Being practitioners of the healing art, struggle is our second name, be it clinical, scientific, philosophical or social. Yes, its true. Thing may seem easy when we enter the system as a student. But as soon as we enter homeopathy as a professional, we are subjected to challenges of clinical and scientific realms. Its…

Application deadline: March 15, 2016 by 5:00 p.m.
IPRH has recognized outstanding humanities research in numerous ways since its inception. The IPRH Prizes for Research in the Humanities allow us to celebrate excellence in humanities scholarship, and we are pleased to solicit submissions and nominations for the 2015–16 academic year. These prizes recognize outstanding humanities research at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, with awards given at the undergraduate, graduate, and faculty levels. The awards will be presented at a reception on May 2, 2016.
Eligibility: The awards are open to all full-time Urbana campus students and tenured and tenure-track faculty.
Submission procedures: All submissions must be accompanied by a completed nomination form, which can be downloaded from the IPRH website. The submissions must contain NO references to the applicant’s name or other identifying details. Submissions that do not follow these guidelines will be disqualified from consideration.
Please email the submission and the nomination form as two separate attached pdf documents to [email protected]. Please note that scans of journals or book pages are not acceptable. Submissions should be in manuscript form, double-spaced, with all identifying details removed, and conform to the length limitations. For specific funding information and application guidelines for each application category, please consult the IPRH website.
Selection: The applications will be read by a selection committee comprised of members of the IPRH Advisory Committee, one or two invited members of the faculty, and the IPRH Director and Associate Director (both of whom serve on the committee in an ex officio capacity). Submissions will be judged in a blind review process; names and other identifying details must not be included in the essay itself. The essays will be evaluated on their scholarly merit, the intellectual rigor of the questions being posed, and the quality of the writing.
For a list of past winners visit the IPRH website.
Questions about these awards and the nomination procedures should be addressed to Nancy Castro at [email protected].

9/28 EMRG Event
You are warmly invited to join the Early Modern Reading Group (EMRG) for our first meeting of the semester: Monday, 28 September, 5:00PM in EB 104. For those unfamiliar with this IPRH-sponsored group, we meet monthly to discuss primary and secondary readings from the early modern archive—ranging from the medieval period to the long eighteenth century. Our core concern is uncovering the potential intertextualities of reading texts in sets—such as plays owned by a single company or sonnets grouped into cycles—in order to interrogate literary canonicity. This year we will focus on the popularity of sonnet cycles in England after Dante and Petrarch, and its relationship to what Guido Ruggiero calls “Rinascimento” or Renaissance poetry in Italy.
At this first meeting we plan to establish a schedule for the rest of the semester, decide what cycles to explore, and develop a list of secondary readings that might compliment them. These might include but are not limited to Sidney’s Astrophel and Stella, Spenser’s Amoretti, Daniel’s Delia, Drayton’s Idea’s Mirror, Greville’s Caelica, Shakespeare’s sonnets, Wroth’s Pamphilia and Amphilanthus, or even some contemporary versions such as Browning’s Sonnets from the Portuguese and Lovecraft’s Fungi from Yuggoth.
Whether you’d like to expand your reading, explore the early modern period, or consider new primary texts for teaching, we hope you’ll join us!

New IPRH Reading Group: EMRG
The Early Modern Reading Group (EMRG) is a new IPRH reading group. The inaugural meeting will be held next Thursday, August 28, at 4:00 pm in EB 104. No reading required for the first meeting.
Focusing on the early modern archive, the EMRG will read a generically-circumscribed set of texts curated to recreate their potential intertextualities and interrogate literary canonicity. The 2014-15 academic year will focus on the repertory of the Lord Admiral's Men. which includes canonical works such as Robert Greene's Friar Bacon and Friar Bungay and non-canonical works such as Robert Yarington's Two Lamentable Tragedies. Participants meet monthly to discuss one primary text and secondary readings, generating a conversation to result in a research symposium. Conversations will also focus upon the plays as performance texts.
More information, including the reading schedule, can be found on their website:http://publish.illinois.edu/erlymodrn
