Vida's perspective.

“And you came to that conclusion how, exactly?” Chubs stared at Liam, pushing the stupid new glasses up. “Based on the fact that she let you into the van instead of locking you out?”

“Exactly,” he replied. “I seem to recall someone trying to vote her out.”

“Yeah!” Ruby said. “Thanks a lot. Trying to dump me off on some random road...”

“Excuse me for trying to look out for the group!” Chubs huffed.

The Asian girl looks back at her notebook, silent and quiet as always. They all seem to lick her head like a useless puppy. She doesn't even try to say anything.

They must have done something bad to her, I want to think, but everything goes back to darkness.

We left him there. We forgot him there. I left him there. I forgot. SHE FORGOT. He didn't like the dark. She is forgetting him. It's like he doesn't even exist for them. She didn't even talk to me about it. SHE CHANGED HIM. They changed him. She changed him. I will never change him. I will never change Jude in my life. She continues to smile while I had to tell Cate.

And there she is, Ruby, smiling as if he never existed. She didn't even care to notice that I'm wearing the rest of the compass as a bracelet. She really forgot that detail. The detail that confirmed that.

I feel my muscles twist with the small noise rising in my ears. I don't want to freak out, but out of the corner of my eye I see my fork, still with pasta, starting to shake. I'm at my limit. And even my crazy blue powers know that, they know that I'm losing myself.

That silence.

I hate that silence.

Fellow Darkest minds Fans,

*spoiler ahead for the darkest minds movie and first tome*

I’ve almost finished reading the first volume of the serie and I’ve got only the part where Ruby erases herself from Liam’s memory left. And. I. Can’t. Bring. Myself. To. Read. It.

I’ve seen the movie about a month ago and during the end credits, I begged my mom to buy me the series. This book is the reason why I’ve been going to sleep at midnight for the past week or so.

I can’t believe how much this movie and book had an impact on me. The characters touched me so much in a way I only felt about few books series (such as Harry Potter, The Mortal Instruments and Vampire Academy). I fell in love with them and the writing is so fast that it makes you want to dive headfirst in the book. It’s truly awesome. Upon reading the book, I see that the movie was not perfect, but so important. (Book is always better than he movie but still!)

The movie had an inclusive cast, chemistry, action, romance, beautiful friendship portrayed and we have some scenes that are so much like the book when I read it I almost cried of joy.

I’m really disappointed that we won’t get another movie because I felt like it had so much potential for a second one!

I’m really really grateful I found this gem of a YA series and I’m so excited to read the others ! Even though I can’t bring myself to read the last pages because I’m already sensing my heartbreak 💔 Liam and Ruby are melting my heart and making me explode and I didn’t even finish the first book!

Now, that was my rant about the Darkest Minds, my newly found treasure.

I’m curious to know what the fans that read the books before the movie thought about the movie!

I've had CttK on my 'to read' list for a while -- you mentioned it in reply to a comment I left on one of your TW fic -- and now that I'm actually getting to it, it is the /exact story/ I've been craving for ages that I've been having some trouble articulating. (Queer-themed, college-focused non-romance? Not that I object to romance -- I both read and write it -- but I've been wanting something queer-themed where that wasn't the focus.) So, thanks for preemptively writing the story of my dreams.

Hi, and thank you so much!! I hope you continue to enjoy the story just as much as it goes on. As for romance... I am all about relationships, and how people fit together, and I do love romance, but I also love stories about all the other complicated versions of relationships, too. :)

If you read the Marked books, those will be a little more traditionally romance focused, but then, they’re all soulmark stories with their own twists on the concept. The Twinned books (of which CttK is the first) are definitely focused in on the different types of Talent, the politics of the world, and well... the things that are going on and found families. :) (Found Family may be one of my kryptonite tropes *sighs*).

I’m so glad you’re here and I hope you really enjoy CttK and all the folks in it!
