It occurs to me that @wcrkerbee​ would not be a bumble bee, but a little long-horned common solitary bee. They’re buzzy, bumbly, yellow and black with blue eyes! They’re commonly found around bits of dead wood and creek sides- and also can be somewhat communal with several bees living in the same embankment!

I also blame @sparkmender​ for getting me back on my buggo kick, since I really do love insects.  I have liked them since I was a twee wild-child, wandering about the woods like an idiot in bare feet and threadbare clothing.

Despite being in extreme poverty growing up, I had the benefit of also being semi-raised in the very much backwoods wilds of Mississippi, which means I got to see all kinds of interesting insects. Everything from the hand-sized garden spiders that made webs at face high, to the teeniest little leafhoppers that would jump on your pants when you walked through the tall grass. I saw wolf spiders of all kinds, dirt daubers, red wasps, hornets, click beetles, bess beetles, lady bugs, carpenter ants, fire ants,  yellow ants, sugar ants, and yellow jackets. 

I wasn’t very afraid of them, and enjoyed picking them up to see how they felt crawling on me. I loved our palm sized dragonflies, watching them dive after mosquitos, and then late at night- watching the bats come out to chase bugs as well. I loved finding big lunar moths on my trailer wall, the bigger atlas moths that would dwarf them. 

It’s something I miss terribly here in Texas, and look forward to moving to another place where there’s wetter weather, where more things thrive. I don’t hate the climate here, but- I think, in the end, it’s not for me.

Anyway, sorry! I went off on a tangent about bugs and things, and I’m sure this’ll get buried.
