Sooooo, anyone remember that Imaginary Friends AU I mentioned a while ago? Here are some doodles, as promised ^^ Also character designs because it’s fun :D (If you don’t remember, the basic gist is Sunny can see ghosts, Kel, Aubrey, Hero, and Basil have been ghosts for as long as he’s known them.)
The glowing items that some of the ghosts are holding are called Memories! You get them when you figure out you died. Before that, you’re more...ghostly. Not all there, both physically and mentally. Basil is the “oldest” ghost, followed by Aubrey, Kel, and then Hero...and lastly Mari, technically, but we already knew that.
Also, the girl in the pink is Sally, Mari and Sunny’s neighbor :)

Grief (in OMORI)
After unspeakable tragedy, the five friends left behind grieve differently.
A study of Sunny, Basil, Aubrey, Hero, and Kel's grief. Soul-Crushing Angst. Part Fanfiction; Part Analysis. Cross Posted to AO3.
(Warnings for Soul-Crushing Angst, Grief, Depression, Referenced Canonical Character Death, and Heavy Themes. Canon Typical OMORI warnings and MAJOR Omori Spoilers)
Sunny’s grief is quiet. He fades into shadowy corners watching his mother’s wailing with stormy eyes, but he doesn’t make a sound. He hasn’t spoken a word since Mari died—not that he talked much to begin with, but now there’s nothing he could even want to say. He can’t stand speaking to an empty room, waiting for that familiar laugh or the lilted, tinkly voice of his sister that would never come. He’d never hear her voice again, never hear her laugh, never hear the sounds of her piano playing.
The house is quiet without her. There’s no laughter. No music. No sound besides the violent sobbing of his mother. Silence has never been so deafening. He hides in the comfort of his mind where she’ll laugh and talk again, forever because the guilt of knowing why the world’s gone silent is too much for him to bear.
His father thinks him cold and unfeeling because he won’t talk—won’t wail and weep like his mother or his friends, but painful tears struggle free from the corners of his burning eyes. They catch in his eyelashes, trickle down his cheeks—pained but silent. He feels the loss of her like losing a part of himself. It’s more painful than he could ever have the words to explain, so he doesn’t even try. His mother says that talking about it might make him feel better, but he doesn’t feel he has the right to that anymore, not after what he’s done. He silenced Mari and the world along with her, so he silences himself.
(Continues Under the Cut)
*-*-*
Basil’s grief is destructive. It eats him alive from the inside until tears stream out of his bloodshot eyes like a faucet. He weeps unconsolably from the moment he gets up in the morning until he cries himself to sleep at night. He doesn’t think he will ever stop crying. He doesn’t think he deserves to.
Even thinking about Mari brings tears to his eyes to the point where he can’t even remember her—can’t even hold on to the good memories. The pages of his photo album are all colored out now as if that could somehow erase them. He doesn’t feel he deserves them anymore. He doesn’t deserve to remember her happy—to remember her as anything more than contorted, still, and lifeless at the bottom of those stairs or swinging limply in the wind from the limb of that tree outside.
It almost doesn’t feel real. A part of him still wakes up hoping it was all some horrible nightmare, but it wasn’t. It isn’t. Mari’s gone and playing a role in that means he doesn’t deserve to remember her. His grief will destroy him.
*-*-*
Aubrey’s grief is volatile—loud. She cries and screams as if the sounds of her wailing could somehow bring Mari back. But she knows that it won’t. Most days, she feels like she’s falling down a dark, bottomless pit without anything to catch her—without anything to hold onto. She can’t make sense of it—how something like this could happen. Why it would.
Her hands clinch into fists, throw things at walls of her room, pound into her pillow as she screams because she doesn’t have the words for the pain she’s feeling. Then, everything goes quiet, and she weeps.
The weight of a world without Mari is too heavy for her small, trembling shoulders. She’ll have to make them stronger.
*-*-*
Hero’s grief is overwhelming. It crushes him until he can’t breathe. He hasn’t been able to catch his breath since he heard she was gone. He feels like he’s drowning in pitch black darkness—dark water seeping into his nose and mouth if he tries to breathe, drowning out any cry for help he could possibly make. But he doesn’t make them. He doesn’t deserve to—not after he didn’t love her enough. If he had, maybe she’d still be here. The truth that she isn’t constricts and strangles like a chain around his heart, a crushing weight he’ll carry for the rest of his life. He crumbles under it.
Every time he thinks he’s finally stopped crying, the tears keep falling again. He can’t eat, can’t sleep, can’t do anything but stare blankly at the ceiling of his room, tortured by guilt, by “what ifs,” by questions of if there was anything he could have done, if there was any way he could have saved her. But he is too weak. He can’t even save himself.
He always believed the sun shined brighter whenever Mari smiled, but he knows that better now because losing her has completely snuffed it out. The world is dark now, and Hero drowns in it.
*-*-*
Kel’s grief is aching like the dulled pain of an old injury when it rains. There’s an empty space in his heart now and it pangs every time he finds himself turning to say something to her or wanting to show her something or tell her a story only to realize that she isn’t there and that she isn’t going to be there ever again.
He doesn’t cry as much as Hero or Aubrey or Basil, and he worries it isn’t enough—worries it means he didn’t care about her enough. But he knows he did. He had to because even if it doesn’t always bring tears to his eyes, something breaks a little in him every time he realizes he’ll never make her laugh or make her smile again.
He tries to think of what would make her happy, if there’s anything he could do to make her happy now. All he can think is that she wouldn’t want another person crying for her, so he tries his best to heal, to remember the good times, and to smile when he thinks of her, even if his smiles are a little bittersweet, a little empty now.
He worries that his friends don’t remember how to be anything but sad and grief-stricken. Worries he’ll never see his brother smile again, will never see Basil without bloodshot, weeping eyes, will never see Aubrey without gritted teeth and clinched fists as she blinks back tears, will never see Sunny again at all. Kel’s grief isn’t just losing Mari—it’s losing everyone. It’s watching them suffer without anything he can do to fix it. Left wondering if any of them will ever truly be happy again. Wondering if they even can be in world without Mari, even when he knows that’s what would make her happy.
He’s never felt so helpless, and maybe that’s what hurts worst of all.

For once I think I maybe have it too quiet lol, does get a bit louder near the end though so fair warning.
Three days in a row wooo! Still working on getting the last recording squared away so if you've enjoyed this so far, stay tune for the last recording soon(ish). As you can tell I am breaking away from some kind of canon but spoilers are still abound so listen with caution. Also (they'll be in the tags for sure but) Content warning for: Strong language and implied animal death (no sounds just spoken about).
Image below the cut as always!

(Warning: Extremely long ask involving a crossover. I understand if you don’t wish to answer this ask and I do not hold it against you lol.)
SCP 143-F (Omori/SCP crossover au)
Faraway town is a Euclid level scp that encompasses the many kilometer area’s of Faraway Town and its forest’s. It’s considered an SCP due to it not only having Headspace, (Which is accessed through sleeping or hallucinating or any other psychic stuff.) but also due to the place having a large population (80%) of anomalous groups/people. (Main ones are Nälkä, or as their often known Sarkics, the Church of The Broken God, or Mekhanites, and even non-humans such as the Bigfoot and a few sapient animals and objects.) Also a location of a Dr. Wondertainment factory, and a very nice Ambrose restaurant chain. Gino’s still exists, but they now sell infinite pizza boxes for free, getting much of their money through donations! :)
Also a few Hydrophobic dogs among other supernatural animals live in the town. Hector is one of those hydrophobic dogs.
Suzuki’s: A family of Nälkän’s, (Or the more popular term Sarkics, who are basically a religion who worship the flesh and a person named Grand Karcist Ion.) who live in Faraway town. The mom was always lived in Faraway town, and believes in the Proto-Sarkic faith, meanwhile the dad was originally from House Kurinuka, a sect of Neo-Sarkics, but left due to not liking the beliefs of extreme family obedience and casual sociopathy. They cultivate several trees that grow Human organs, and donate them to the towns hospital. The dad also still grows Bandai trees, but they’re made entirely out of flesh, bone, and a coral like substance sourced from those two. (Entirely his own.) They also cultivate some strains of fungus that can induce a dreamlike state, which is useful for travelling through Headspace.
Mewo: A telepathic, sapient cat, but otherwise, is very normal and doesn’t have many Sarkic mutations other than having tiny antlers she requested from Mari. Mewo is also legally a citizen in Faraway Town, and can vote. She often hangs out with the group, and often bring’s gifts to them in the form of pretty looking rocks or random junk she finds. Used to bring the corpses of dead, non-sapient animals, but stopped doing so due to her causing low-class containment breaches.
Mari Suzuki: A huge believer of Proto Sarkism, she is an extremely selfless person and will instantly drop whatever she’s currently doing to help out the residents of Faraway town and even some of the Foundation personnel who visit.  Her purple hair, (as well as Aubrey’s) is all natural, and was colored through Sarkic flesh crafting. She can also elongate her neck or bring our huge, venomous claws from her forearms. Her piano is made out of bones and chitin. She and Hero are also dating in this au, disregarding their group’s ideological and cultural differences for romantic love.
Sunny Suzuki: Isn’t really a huge believer of Sarkicism, but still practices the ritual’s. Has decided to give himself a bladed tail, catlike eyes, a third eye on his forehead, and has also grown a fluffy, warm-blooded living coat that symbiotically attaches to him like Scp 040-1A. He has a huge crush on Aubrey, and has gifted her several things, like a spiked bone club that can symbiotically attach to her nerve cells and give her super strength and regeneration, and a living Mr. Plant Egg plush that can do her chores and also cuddle with. (She is very happy with the gifts Sunny gives her.) Sunny visits Headspace a lot, and does so through the consumption of the family's cultivated fungi. He and Basil are also best friends, and he is 110% willing to defend him if some asshole trash talks him due to his parent’s being Foundation personnel.
Sunny does so by pranking the perpetrators, usually by creating an annoying, extremely loud but harmless infertile fly-like bio types that poop a lot of extremely foul excrement, and then releasing them in their house and property.
Rodriguez: A family of the Church of the Broken God (Or the Mekhane) this family is part of a community that, unlike other COBG communities, is relatively peaceful with the Nälkän (Sarkhic) community in Faraway town. The Rodriguez’s especially so, and are very good friends with the Suzuki’s. The mom is a Maxwellism (Basically modern, cyberpunk version of the church that believes that connecting their minds allows the rebuilding of their god) and the dad is part of the Cogwork Orthodoxy. (Steampunk version of the church that believes in mechanical augmentation)
Hector: Unlike Mewo, Hector is merely just a normal dog in intellect. However, they are a hydrophobic dog with a few mechanical augmentations. (Specifically, in his legs, allowing him to run super fast and jump very high.) Outside of sleeping on top of the hangout spots lake, Hector is otherwise just like his canon version.
Hero: Studying to become a doctor, he is very well versed in the internet, and can even interact with it through his mechanical enhancements. (To the point that he may have… caught a few glimpses of the Scp Foundations classified archives.) Speaking of, his mechanical enhancements include cybernetic eyes that can allow him to detect electric currents and sources of heat, robotic hands that allow him to connect to the internet, a few computer chips in his brain that allow him to do so, and a metallic skeleton that gives him super strength. He and Mari are a match made in Heaven, and his parents approve of his love for her. In fact, he and Mari are working together in making wetware computer chips for their friends, ones that will allow their friends to communicate with one another no matter how far away.
Kel: A happy go lucky boy, his mechanical augmentations are much greater than Hero. (Specifically, his limbs are all mechanized and robotic, his lower jaw is made of metal, He has a jetpack on his back allowing him to fly, and most of his organs are replaced with superior, robotic counterparts. Most of these augmentations were from himself.) He greatly enjoys tinkering with technology, and loves making tiny robots and other machines to share with his friends and loved ones. He and Sunny are basically like siblings, and they often enjoy pitting harmless fights with their miniature creations. (Machine vs Flesh)
He and Aubrey are huge frenemies, and their fights often end with Kel just… casually picking her up, her whining as he does so! Meanwhile, Kel and Basil absolutely love eachother, the former often gifting some tech that allows Basil to more easily garden, (For example, making tiny spider robots that eliminate pests and invasive fungi) and the latter embroidering flowers onto Kel’s mechanical parts, flower’s that Kel will do his absolute best to take care of.
Aubrey: Aubrey is a very interesting girl, having managed to somehow walk into Faraway town, managing to sneak through the Scp Foundations security and MTF units stationed there. When foundation personal found her, (malnourished, lots of bruises from both her getting there and from her original parents) and saw if she had any anomalous properties, (she didn’t) they decided to allow her to live in the town, and amnesticized her original parents so that they wouldn’t look for and abuse her once more. And now, she is lovingly cared for by Basil’s grandma, and regards Basil as her brother.
Aubrey is as headstrong as her canon counterpart, and is also very curious, often talking and hanging out with some of the anomalous people of Faraway. (Particularly the Suzuki’s and Rodriguez) Despite her young age, she is actually not very frightened by the Suzuki’s fleshcrafting traditions due to her original, abusive childhood, and is also very accepting of her situation. She also has a small crush on Sunny, thinking that he’s a very kind and interesting friend who listens to her frustrations. Her pink hair is also all natural and doesn’t need to be dyed, having been from Mari as a gift.
Basil: Born to two parents who are Foundation personnel, (scientists, specifically) they have given him to his grandma, in fear that he may have anomalous properties from studying Faraway town. (he doesn’t) Although relatively upset about his parents not caring for him, it is compensated by all of his best friends, particularly Sunny and his crush Kel. He spends his time growing flowers (Whether they be normal or anomalous ones) and photography. In fact, many foundation personnel get much of their information of Faraway town from Basil, and while his parents don’t visit anymore, he is good friends with other people from the foundation.
The anomalous friends also love giving him and Aubrey gifts. In Aubrey’s case, she has her bone club that symbiotically attaches to her, a living Mr. Plantegg that does her chores, permanent, natural pink hair, an electric hoverbike, and a miniature vending machine that gives her whatever drink she wants (Gifts from Sunny, Mari, Hero, and Kel respectively.) In Basil’s case, he was given many forms of gardening equipment from Kel, an electronic, lightweight tablet that allows him to take extremely high resolution pictures from Hero, a living flesh bonsai tree from Sunny, and a living bone flute from Mari.
Being normal people, (And in Basil’s case, a child of foundation personal) mean’s that they sometimes get bullied or harassed by a few jerks, but their friends and much of Faraway Town will always go out of their way to defend them.
Though I'm not familiar with any SCP stuff, I will say that this does sound cool :0 the relationships of the characters is fun as well! Plus it's cute to think that Aubrey and Basil tend to be the receivers of gifts.... their friends truly do care for them,,,,, :3c

Whoops! Welcome to Luck Swap, everyone ^^ Where Sunny is a little luckier, and Aubrey... is not.
The lake scene happens a lot sooner in this AU because the group isn’t in mourning (yet). The incident between Sunny and Mari just created some tension, with Sunny refusing to talk to anyone and Hero and Mari busy trying to settle things down. Meanwhile, Aubrey's on edge, afraid that her friend group might fall apart. So when Basil asks her to meet him at the lake (trying to get her help cleaning the photos), Aubrey jumps to conclusions and thus “off the deep end”, so to speak :)

I adore the character dynamic of “an AI and their Favorite Human.” That over the course of working together in their otherwise expected to be ordinary job the AI forms the kind of deep attachment to one of the humans that manifests as “if anything happens to this human in particular I will kill everyone in this room and then myself.” (and then the emperor. Yes in that order)
And this is excellent in both modes:
The human is exceptionally smart, kind, brave, and compassionate, in a way that causes the AI to come to respect them as the Best Human and someone that can be trusted
The human is an absolute dork ass loser and the AI points to them anyway and goes ”I want that one” “he wasn’t even one of the options—” “I want that one”
