[Black + White: Day 39]: Prepare to say goodbye to 2020 -------- 2020 had been a year. Quite a lot of ups and downs (election...COVID...HK...list goes on and on). Took a while to finally settle with a short-term goal and really sit down to work on it. Sorting old photos into albums, reading, learning new things, and to walk hand in hand with someone who is willing to journey with me. Caught up with old friends and write letters and have long chats. I really appreciate that some friends keep the same e-mail address. Come to think, if it were the old days, the moment you move to a new house (or they moving to a new place), it could also mean that you lost touch with an old friend as well. Second half of the year was much more productive. I think I still must thank Andres for this. I still think that conversation we had definitely got the wheels turning again. While I was sorting my old illustrations from Otago Uni and EGGS, it somehow pieced me back. I had always loved illustration and had been doing some from time to time, or when ever I had a moment to spare after work and school. Part of me wanna to pursue this dream but it was never strong enough to push it further. I guess sometimes being raised under different cultures makes me unique, but at the same time old traditional values holds me back. Which ever that is, I have decided to sprint in full speed and just give it a go. May 2021 be a great year and may there are more love and peace in this world. Rock on. Time to take a break from politics to tell you about one of my favorite projects that I'm involved in this year. In late November (11/23 - 11/29, 2020) I will be co-hosting Folktale Week again with a great group of lovely artists from around the world. It's that time of the year, time to celebrate the changing season by getting cozy with some great stories. That's right, @folktaleweek is just around the corner! Are you excited? I know we are! Let us know you are joining us by reposting this image or making your own!

We are releasing the prompts on October 26th, so you will have a month to discover folktales, work on art, or even write your own tales. And to help you get off to a great start, we are teaming up with @storycamp_disco, who will be release a special Folktale Week workbook filled with lots of insight and fun exercises! Proceeds will go to support @projectnightnight. Stay tuned for more info.

How it works: We will release the prompts on October 26th. Then on November 23rd, follow the prompts and share a piece of art each day. Interpret the prompts however you would like. Everyone is encouraged to join in the fun. Last year we were thrilled to see illustration, photography, paper craft, embroidery, cosplay and more! . Use the hashtags #Folktaleweek and #folktaleweek2020 to show your work and to interact with other artists. The challenge hosts will pull work from the hashtags to share in our stories!
