i found it really illuminating and i agree with all of it. and god as much as i understand reticence when black people are interracially dating (it is so hard) i also hate it when people dictate it and also to a degree that it makes it extremely uncomfortable for the person themselves. to me it really is about a sense of control particularly if you are a woman. constantly trying to pick someone’s life partner for them instead of letting them find out if it’s a) something they want or even want to do b) something they can handle and c) their experience. it can purely cultural as well. my mom is a black american but my father is nigerian and that was basically a sin. however my father’s siblings? the women who had to marry extremely quickly and had to be with nigerian men or at the very least african? divorced. because they had to clamor for love for approval, pop out babies, and look what that got them. i totally understand you and  your mother. and you’re right about all of it.

also totally agree about watching what people consume and not falling into those patterns. and when “bad” things are shown i do not understand why shows are so scared to show them as they are or not romanticize. a real issue to introduce when it comes to age gaps would be why it is frequent in the lgbtq+ community. that is a real thing because when you have to hide yourself of course you can be stuck in a state of arrested development and trying to re-establish times you may never have. that’s a geniuine fear and concern, it’s understandable even if i don’t particularly care for it, but it’s like for these writeres there’s no reason to look deeply or put that into their story. so why are they doing it? and what is the message here? uGH. and what ur mother said makes so much sense we are just constantly absorbing all these messages and culture absolutely aids to it and you’re right about the generations. and sometimes things stop and start but i genuinely think (and know) that for us to continue forward and not have the constant backwards taht means we have to push to get there and demand and that also means we have to make an effort to end the harm we then see on screen. rape culture dictates these shows. it relies on it. it is disgusting but rape culture is the norm, the norm is the oppression so we have to attack it otherwise it sticks and htat’s exactly why we see what we see.

and the unacceptability of gender fluidity is what keeps the genre SO INFLEXIBLE sincerely. it honestly just pulls so heavily from patriarchy and the roles in which we have to follow to uphold that structure. 

it’s really just not enough to show us things any more wihtout taking it into consideration. and like ive mentioned there’s soooooooooo much media that has a lot to say that embeds itself. there’s this thing my friend linked me to on re-examining queerness in korean cinema (much like my dad’s country; patriarchal, more “conservative, anti lgbtq+, reliant on capital. africa is different because of the blackness component but the structures aided by colonialism absolutely remain and continue and that’s how we see such similarities. thse countries are more “overt” in this output but still you know. america. sucks) because we are trying to re-evaluate what it means to be heard and seen. the different ways and sort of the message that a lot of us as lgbtq+ can feel. you know, how we can get a feeling on if a person has our same experience, how we kind of have to learn to identify that. not sure if this makes sense...

your mom sounds really cool. and i’m fucking sorry. so many men do that. i live with both my parents but even then i see this power imbalance i can’t stand and you know i would have believed it was normal if i wasnt able to learn aand had to build up thinking skills. there was one day that it hit me that there are parts of my parents relationship i abhor, that are imbalanced, that make me find my father disgusting and make me ashamed of my mother. i don’t want that to happen to me or my potential children. if i have a male partner for life, which i am sure i will because offffffff heteronormativity and homophobia and being half black american half nigerian, he cannot recreate that. i am optimistic on what people can do without needing such grand structures or the support of the elite etc you know? that’s how we know there’s good work that exists and people we can find that arent with the status quou!!! 

and who want a better world. we have to know we can rally that together. i think part of that is constant demanding of things to do better. there’s a rage against the machine song called settle for nothing and it’s about 0 compromise. there’s a famous quote i dont remember by who that’s basically like there’s an idea that there’s a limit to asking for dignity and what you deserve because when people realize they can live better lives they want to cultivate that more and more but that means a loss of control and a sharing of power from the top. nothing is ever enough if it can be better and we are allowed to demand it (or take it.) we deserve the world, we are being told that we’re asking fo rtoo much. are we? really? 

i was thinking about the children thing as well bc...lmao i was so tightly contorlled as a child and it really messed me up but at the same time, like you, i honestly do not want my children watching drivel. like even with youtube. a friend of mine said that what she thinks she will do is try and hammer home how fantastical these things are, they do not reflect reality, and to get them to understand the spectacle. at the same time i’m like does a child really need to watch these dumb tiktok stars or jake paul? but then im like i really dont want to control them. but like what if ur kid asks u to go to some like fucking BL concert or some shit like what do you say to that?!??! i have some feelings about how people treat age (i am thirty for complete transparency) and its ~nuanced~ but not really as nuanced as people think it is? these are my perspectives as a 30 year old survivor and educator. this is kind of rambly and doesnt have a conclusion, i just wanted to get it out of my head.

lets talk maturity like adults, especially those over the age of 21, have enough experience to know that their feelings and mindsets are vastly different than that of someone who is 15, 16, or even 17 or 18. i still remember what it felt like to be 12, i still remember what it felt like to be 15, and i still remember what it felt like to be 17, 20, 25...and honestly i wouldnt go back lmao. im MUCH more mature today than i was then.

the older you are the more life experience you have to know what is and isnt right. you learn how to deal with people simply because youve had more time to do so. in that sense, the older an adult is, the more of an ‘edge’ theyre going to have over a minor. so you can never have an equal relationship because you just know too much. 

on the other hand, i think theres this stigma against older people that goes beyond looking out for childrens well beings and goes right into ageism. i have this theory that most people have no idea what a 30 year old is supposed to look like. most people assume im in my early 20s for a bunch of reasons...either its my looks or my interests or whatever but i think there is this narrative that someone over the age of 30 must be married, popping out children, buying a house, working on their career, and definitely not doing silly things on the internet. 30 year olds are ‘serious.’ ‘mature.’ something that simply does not apply to me as a personality trait, but because time has passed i have to BECOME another person....i dont get that.

in my professional life i have a lot of contact with teenagers. i talk to my teenage students like theyre adults because i dont think theyre idiots. i feel like a lot of my colleagues tend to treat teens like zoo animals rather than taking their jobs seriously. educators are part of a childs education process. we help form who you are, whether we like it or not, so giving you age appropriate responsibilities (within reason, i also hate assigning lots of busywork homework) is part of our job. teens say dumb things because theyre teens but also i remember that once i had a fucking meltdown in english class when i was 14 because i got a B+ on a quiz and said i was going to work at burger king forever and my teacher actually reassured me in her own comedic way. so yeah, i remember being overdramatic and annoying too so i cant be critical of my students for that.

while i think the age dynamic between a teenager and an adult is something to take more seriously than some people online would like to, i also see a lot of full grown adults in their early 20s pretending that anyone over 30 is a corpse. it goes back to what i said about that narrative....30 is not the end of your life. in fact, i felt my life was just beginning once i turned 30. i spent most of my 20s in and out of mental hospitals and in treatment, learning how to function, and towards my late 20s i finally became a teacher and found that it was a fundamentally vital part of my recovery. but the ‘best years of my life’ aka my teen years and early 20s were all spent trapped in abusive relationships and processing trauma. now that im older, i feel i can finally start living.

maybe its because of my experiences but i really resent being told that im old just because im 30. im only five years older than some of these people who are like ‘dni if youre 30+!’.... like you are 25 years old there is no significant age gap or power differential between us??? do you think that once you turn 30 you stop liking anime and become some kind of sexually predatory liability towards....people in their mid to late 20s? 

the reason we talk about age is because adults, all adults, need to respect children and teens at their particular stage of development. i know teenagers hate being told theyre not fully mature yet but you arent fully mature yet. you arent adults. even if you were, you simply dont have that much life experience. its fine not to know everything. and there are people who know more than you who will try to use what they know against you. thats why discussion age dynamics is so important. because childhood developmental stages are a thing really even up until youre in your early 20s (but at that point it doesnt matter AS MUCH because once youre legally an adult you have more legal rights than you do as a child, as sad as that is).

i think a lot of this antagonism against people over 30 is that society generally values youth, which is pretty silly because society also gives children and teens little to no legal recourse. so there is this distinct antagonism there. youth is valuable perhaps BECAUSE of its capacity for exploitation. once youre older, you know better, and thus you cannot be so easily fooled. and thus, as a result, we all believe turning 30 means youre a dried up useless husk, because your buying power isnt as useful. your beauty (if you are a woman) is worthless because only barely legal teens are acceptable in a society that highly values youth....and we should maybe unpack that because thats highly uncomfortable isnt it? your reproductive capacity is worthless because biased scientists have told us that if you have a child over 40 you are GUARANTEED to produce DEFECTIVE CHILDREN!!!! its backed up by SCIENCE!!!! science says older women are useless and shouldnt have children!! even though we live in a world where genetic counseling exists and we can easily navigate those risks...but no, science says. 

the cult of youth is a cult of exploitation of the youth and one that devalues to the point of disposability of older people. and during the pandemic we are really starting to see just how little governments care about older people. in fact, its almost as if they are purposely killing them off...because they arent as important as the youth for some of the above mentioned reasons.

Q:     How old were you when you started playing football? And how were you discovered?

Kai:  „I started playing football as a 3 ½ or 4 year old kid at my club in Mariadorf back in the day. My youth club. I used to live right around the corner. Thats where I played my first years of football until I was 8 years old. Then the first clubs approached me. [Bayer] Leverkusen was one of them. But I transfered to Aachen – Alemannia Aachen. I dont know if it says something to you, but they used to be very good in the past. And with 12 years of age I came to Leverkusen.“

Q:     Rudi Völler praised you in an interview. He said you always stay calm. How do you manage to stay so calm when you’re kicking a penalty?

Kai:  „I dont know. Honestly I’m not really excited or nervous. I mean, we all play football to have fun. Because it is fun. Thats how I see it too. I try to fade out everything around me and yeah I just try to have fun on the pitch. And I think it’s always the best feeling if you score from a penalty, which is why I never try to put to much pressure on myself.“

Q:     What would your daily job be today, if you weren’t a football player?

Kai:  „Ahm, I think I would be a barber [laughs]. But only haircuts for men!“

Q:     How many hours of a day are you effectively dealing with football? Are you happy if you dont have to deal with football during your spare time? Or do you play too?

Kai:  „Hm, I think you are dealing with football 24/7. Because you are always interested how the other teams are playing. If you go on instagram you always get pictures of footballers or football games – or videos. Thats why I think it’s difficult do get away from football, even in your sparetime. But I think it’s always good for me if I can do something different in my spare time, instead of thinking about football. And usually friends and family are helping you forget about football once in awhile and to get different stuff in your head. But yeah… you cant really escape that topic completely. Except maybe during vacation. If you have a few days off, thats when you have the ability to live without football.“

Q:     With who among your teammates do you do the most stuff off the pitch?

Kai:  „Yeah, definately the most with Julian. Mitch joined this year and Sam. Thats our… well yeah, four-men squard which we are out. And those guys are the ones I am usually outside the most.“

Q:     Is there something that bothers you as a football player?

Kai:  „[pauses]…. Yeah, I mean what does „bother“ mean… Sure you have a different amount of pressure as a football player, as perhaps some normal worker. Sure a lot of people are talking about you. A lot of things are coming at you, even when you are young. Thats something you have to learn to deal with. Also suddently when fans start to throw insults at you, after two or three games you lost in a row. The media of course, builds alot of pressure. But I think we football players generally have almost only advantages. We made our hobby our daily job now. We can live our dream and thats why I think you only have advantages being a football player.“

Q:     You became B-junior champion in 2017. Are you still in contact with your teammates and what happened tot hem?

 Kai:  „I have daily contact with three or four of them. Back in the day it was Atakan [Akkaynak] and Rico [Grym]. We are still in touch. And those guys were my best friends since then. Sure, the team dissolves because everybody changes to different clubs. There are two or three of them which stayed here. Many went to foreign countries, for example Ata[kan] plays in the Netherlands at Willem II. Or Rico in Poland. Usually the contact disappears a bit. I think I’m still good friends with them and I try to stay in touch with them as good as I can.“

Q:    Do you ask for advice from experienced players?

Kai:  „Yeah sure. We have a lot of players that have played a lot of games. Players with experience. Especially the first two years it was really helpful to have someone that gave you tips. After awhile you can deal with that by yourself, after you play a lot of games too. But I think older players can help you, especially at the beginning of your career.“

Q:     What do you like to do the most during training? And where do you want to become better?

 Kai:  „I like to practice goal shoots. They are the most fun. I’m usually not a  player who likes to do stuff without the ball. I like to do stuff with the ball. And yes, there are still things I want to do better. My right foot for example and my liveliness on the pitch, so that you become quicker after the first meters. Yet, there are still things that you already good at, which you can improve. Thats why I always try to give my best during training sessions.“

Q:     Where do you like to go on vacation and that place would you love to visit?

 Kai:  „I love flying to sunny places. I love the beach, the ocean. Because I’m a guy who loves the sun and if its warm outside. I think the best vacation I had so far where the Maledives. And I usually try to travel alot when I have days off from football. I try to get away alot and see alot of cities and to discover other cultures. I dont know what my next destinations going to be, but I think I will find some nice spots in the future.“

Q:     Which one of your goals was the most important for you and your favorite?

Kai:  „The best goal…. was against, ehm Nuremberg. I havent scored the most insane goals yet though, but one or two nice ones where among them. But that one goal was the best for me. But I think every goal has its upsides – even if you just score from one meter distance. It’s always important for the team to score. Goals can decide games and thats why I’m happy with every goal I score.“

Q:     What is your favorite dish and what do you say about the team’s chef?

Kai:  „[laughs]… my favorite dish is Risotto with salmon. And I like the food we get here. Alex our chef, is doing a good job. And I think the right food is very important after training for a football player. Its good to have a lot of food to choose from and I think we can all be very happy with our chef here.“

Book of Matthew 5: 8-12

8. Blessed are the pure in heart:

The pure of heart are able to see God.  The pure of God are able to understand God.  The pure of heart are able to hear God's voice.  Throughout the Bible God's calls for spotless cattle to be sacrificed.  Throughout the Bible God calls his people to not worship other gods.  Through the Bible God calls his people to be morally up right and have a heart for his begotten son Yeshua.

God calls us to have Godly relationships and to remain virgins until marriage.  Through out the Bible, God chooses those who are "right for the job”.  Even though those chosen may not have been who the people would have thought God would have chosen.  Has anyone else wonder why this might be?

I think we can be pointed to Moses, Joshua, Mary, Ruth and many others. All these persons possessed certain characteristics that made them qualified for God's mission of their lives, while here on earth.  These persons although considered flawed by others; had a heart for God.  These persons were free enough from themselves to recieve Gods word and go out among the people.  These persons were “right” and pure in the eyes of God.  How amazing is that?  To be able to be seen as "right” in the eyes of our great creator.  I pray that we all achieve this level soon; if not today.  

Regarding moral and spotless, untainted and unaltered. I am being lead to voice how some have altered themselves from God intended state.  Look out today what do we see: false this, injected that, nip-tuck, replace what???? Now im am not speaking of medical necessities, and or repairs.  Healers are God workers.  Medical field saves God people to complete their mission or be given the choice to get right with God. I am being lead towards those who alter their appearance with a deceiving heart/mind.  If one is changing the fabric of their-self in order to create themself as an idol, then this is against God's plan. If one is presenting themselves to the world  a change that would suggest God “got it wrong”; then that is not in keeping with God's plan.   Examples: sex changes, implants, human blood intake, (specially, the new trend of using the blood of the young in order to be youthful and or prolong life) Im am not talking about blood transfusions.   Although I have be taught by my favorite Prophetess, Rosalind Solomon one should pray if any medical procedures are taking place. This goes into spiritual warfare which I am still learning. But here is a video link of hers for those who what to rid themselves of ancestors curses or curses that may exist from objects, blood, and of covenants with demonic forces.  I personally have done the prayer and exercises about 3’xs.  I can say me experience was amazing and up-lifting.

Back to God choosing those who he has recognized as pure.

God is all powerful.  God can reach anyone at anytime in their life. God is all knowing.  At any place in the person's life, God can find them.  People are not only saved duriing a 1 hr and 1/2 church service.  A person can give themselves and their life over to Christ in a bar, in a club, in a prison, in a car, during an assault; anytime anywhere. God is every where at all times.

We as Christ need to stop going against God's anointed.  This means Prophets, Seers, Wisemen, True Godly Church leaders......  Especially concerning God chosen.  This can mean our President, and those who God had deemed pure and placed in certain position to carry out his agenda for God's kingdom.    

Now I am going to be frank…(Hi, Im frank). And put it out there….I honestly dont not care nor does God hold on to someones past.  Once someone has been saved they are washed clean by the blood of Christ; Amen.  

So, if some are condemning others, "He who is without sin , cast the first stone.”  It doesn't matter what color the skin is, how one grew up, what they did tens years ago or even 5 minutes ago.  If someone repents with a humble heart and comes to God. Then that is it. That person is saved, redeemed and made a new. Does that mean God won't hold that person accountable for their sins, maybe yes maybe no....thats God's choice.

So let's support or fellow Christians. Let us unite as the people of God.  Just because someone is not what we had in mind, doesn't mean that person is not of God or being used by God for righteousness sake.  

And if I'm being completely honest; I was in the military for a while. I have heard more "locker room talk" during the course of a work day (by both men and women), far worse than what the President said.  I have witness acts, not just words that were terrible(by both men and women).  And whether something is said that is reckless by a men or a women; it is still reckless.

Being a woman doesn't not mean women can talk about the size , width, style of a men's penis and or sex acts; and it's any less wrong than if a man does.  Women can not asked to be treated fairly and paid failry and then cry “pussy gate” when women talk just as nasty.  I've said this and other women have said things. So women, “her who is without sins, cast the first stone.”

Having a certain dark skin color doesn't mean someone can not be racist. Racism is pure hate, in my opinion.  Every race and person is capable of being racists; not just those who are a lighter shade of light, lighter, then light.  I have, as I'm sure others have seen; racism exist within ones own culture toward ones own culture.

Is that pure of heart? No. Is that morally pure? No.   So please those who are thinking because someone is a darker color than another, that darker shade is not possibly a racist. Because, that is one of the biggest falsehoods ever thought of or allow to exist.

Blessed are the peacemakers (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/peace) Definition of peace 1 : a state of tranquility or quiet: such as b : a state of security or order within a community provided for by law or custom a breach of the peace 2 : freedom from disquieting or oppressive thoughts or emotions 3 : harmony in personal relations 4a : a state or period of mutual concord between governments b : a pact or agreement to end hostilities between those who have been at war or in a state of enmity 5 —used interjectionally to ask for silence or calm or as a greeting or farewell at peace)

Peacemakers shall be called people of God, YES!  

Now peacemakers, doesn't mean rolling other and playing dead. Peacemakers, does not mean looking the other way in order to avoid witnessing wrong doing. No, that is compliance, avoidance, and sometimes enabling the enemy or evil ones.  

Yes, I said it.  

If a person knows or find out someone is committing unspeakable attacks and or crimes and looks the other way; that is not  a peacemaker. If someone chooses to allow anything that is not of God into their life, to avoid conflict; that is not a peacemaker. If someone refuses to speak up for the meek, that is not a peacemaker.  

So who makes peace?  

Those who do God work, even though it may be difficult. Those who do God work, although it may not be the most popular "thing" to do. Those who help those that at a less advantage or unable to defend/take care of themselves. Those who speak the Go(o)d news of God.  

How can I say this?

Is there peace, in that child's heart, mind, and or body/soul, if I look the other way?   IS there peace, in that persons life, if I don't report a crime?   Is there peace, in the business, if I dont report stealing? Is there peace, for the child in the womb during a late term abortion? Is there peace, if I follow unlawful orders?

I think we can all say; No.  

Now, at a family dinner if an argument a-raises and we try to defuse the situation. Peacemaker. If ones chooses to not to say the most hurtful words possible. Peacemaker.   There are situations in which it is apporiate to steady ones self. Then there are other times of which the peacemaker, most be active.

Let me ask this?  

Are there many now ridding this world of evil?, trying to further God's agenda of peace?  I can think of one always in the news. (hint hint)

Are there others creating things that are not apart of God's agenda of peacemakers?  I can think of many.  (Remember the devil lies, deceives, creates hate, death and destruction.)

Another question: Which side to think is on the side of God and God is on their side? Pray about this question if ones is confused. God always answers those who seek him.

10. Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness’ sake. Definition of persecute (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/persecuted) transitive verb 1 : to harass or punish in a manner designed to injure, grieve, or afflict specifically : to cause to suffer because of belief 2 : to annoy with persistent or urgent approaches (such as attacks, pleas, or importunities) : PESTER

Definition of righteous (https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/righteousness) 1 : acting in accord with divine or moral law : free from guilt or sin 2a : morally right or justifiable a righteous decision b : arising from an outraged sense of justice or morality righteous indignation 3 slang : GENUINE, EXCELLENT

Let's say there is a situation.  And of this situation, one does not know what side is true and righteous. I believe this is where we can find the above listed can help.

There are so many examples we can think of I am sure, but let's stay with the God's agenda.  

Often times, us being children of God or in/during changing our lives around to get in alignment with God; can bring out the demonic forces that are within others.  Just saying "God bless you" to someone after they have sneezed, can send someone into a full demonic episode.  Sometimes, praying at an open restaurant before a meal. Sometimes, changing ourselves around by the way we live, how we speak, who we no longer associate with; can bring out those who are not for you. And those who most certainly are not for or of God. Those who with "hate on you" for evolving to Gods ways.  

When this happens my friends, those are the person we need to add to our prayer list.    So many are on the evil-ones frequency; it's so very sad and so very unbelievable at times.  Sadly, it may be persons who wouldn't ever think.  

I have asked God several times what should I do when someone is coming against me. And you know what God always say.s...Pray...Pray for them, if we can; pray with them.

This reminds me other night.  I'll write about this in more depth later, but basically "what had happened was"  demon was attacking me in my dream.  I began to sing Good Grace, by Hillsong.  I sang loud and proud.  I clapped my hands and praise our God.  The demon began to shake and I guess vibrate into dust?!  It was so shocking!!!!!  When This happened in my dream, I felt a deep understanding of how powerful our praise is not only to God, but as a tool to battle the evil ones.

 So friends blast that praise music!!!!

That being sad, if praise music is power to God and against the  evil ones; what music are we listening while at the gym, the club, in our car, on a ran, during a walk?  I am just saying.

boy oh boy oh BOY OH BOYYYYYYYY. well wlecome to the world of BL lmao especially as an adult with some obviously deep perspective just given your background. it is a fucking mess and it’s a hard mess to like but it pulls you in. i approach it like i do with soap operas since these are essentially telenovelas, you know? just like the drama at a billion. but the tricky part of that is like....what parts of it do we understand for critiquing? because so many of the shows are so bad at being like good pieces of things to look at just production wise and story wise. but i feel like these shows ask us to take them seriously, so why shouldn’t we take the content seriously? and this is being primarily peddled to young girls. 

i bring this up often but i read this thing about yaoi and the interest younger women/girls have in BL and its fascination with pederasty essentially. this component i think is key when we talk about who gets affected by these things the most. society in general is bad 4 girls bla bla we know lmao but in “more sexually conservative” societies it may be harder for these girls to feel safe even expressing normal emotions romantically and sexually and particularly with guys. some people hypothesized, and i think i agree with this hypothesis, that they can live through the casualness of BL. they don’t feel threatened because they can put themselves into the shoes of the other character. oftentimes, the more feminine or the younger. this was in conjunction with the age gap aspect (they say pederasty as well because there’s unethical age gaps that r gross and that is indeed what we would at least call a touch of sexual abuse if people dont feel like calling it an obsession with youth and power and uhhh young ppl and perhaps kids) where maybe girls could see themselves in these situations as the person being saved, loved, taken care of, and sadly also sexually active and penetrated. 

i think that’s just one aspect of it but i do think there’s validity in who gravitates towards it. i cannot imagine seeing this stuff and not getting enough information as a young kid, i sure as fuck know i didn’t!, and seeing these things and you look at it with 0 critique because you’re young and you may have no interest in it or you simply cannot understand what is wrong. no one is teaching you these things and these shows confirm it. and it is wild how intrinsic patriarchy is to BL although in its existence it also can’t be in line with patriarchy given the nature of two [cis] men!

it begs the question about the replacement aspect. is it just so girls can put themselves in these characters shoes? if so then that means we believe that gender is so interchangeable within our relationships and interactions and that doesn’t seem right. there’s more to lgbtq+ than just existing; it’s finding ways to communicate, finding a family, safety, your people, being a free person. there’s a lot to gain and a lot a lot to lose. and a gay man is also not a woman because those are also two distinct experiences.  especially in societies that have a more hidden aspect to sexuality (idk how to word this bc the BL industry would NEVER survive in america but in a way there’s a more “progressive” look at homosexuality but it’s still fucked up because we live in a Society, you know? at the same time look at what we are doing to trans kids. literally waging war so it’s bonkers how we all collectively have some real progress happening but at the same time not at all. the concept of ‘ladyboys’ and the frequency we see trans people in thai shows is wild and something that we absolutely do not see here in the US. still, none of these groups feel safe or are getting better material conditions in either place. we just show the ways we can try and tolerate oppression witout eliminating it imo)

to me it is clear: it’s money. which most things exist to make money so. but also who is the audience for these shows? and they have to market towards them. all that said all hope is not lost there are some decent shows. it’s just like regular media on TV though where it’s so fucking saturated as an industry that it’s literally sifting through garbage. and there are some days when you can handle the trash and others where it really fucking hurts to watch the violence, the rape, the manipulation, the violations, the stupid messaging. i have never seen more people trying to do mental gymnastics and seeing if things were “technically rape” than in teh BL fandom and that is so fucking sad.

i came into these shows at 28 with almost 0 clue of what as media BL was like esp as media that countries can use as soft power with the revenue. but i realize like...i’m 29 now and so many people don’t have a sizeable, though not huge, amount of life experience. and i wonder for people on the internet who are usually searching for something if they spend so much time on it like what a 15 year old girl thinks. what a 20 year old girl thinks. 

it is incredibly problematic and so awful but there’s also some rewards. if you haven’t i would definitely watch i told sunsset about you which i don’t think i’m going to finish and i doubt i’ll watch the second installment (watch this be a lie) but when i say some fucking impeccable storytelling and art? phew. now that is a fucking piece of media that works. it takes from moonlight heavily and you can see like...the artistic dedication is there and the story makes its world and sets up its stakes extremely well. 

i think because this is marketed towards much younger people too they know they dont have to try as hard. but they SHOULD because then you can have a fucking masterpiece like that. i think even this prolific gay thai filmmaker (who is like solidly against the government) who is so respected (and who i like a lot! if u wanna know i can tell u lmao but the films are very uhhhhhhhh “artsy”) would like i told sunset about you. i wish more people had budget like that and also just cared about the stories. it’s the fucking magic of art to figure out what you can do but there is very little incentive honestly. idk i am very pessimistic. there are days when it’s really a great pick me up and distraction but it is never a place i would love for to feel seen or heard but i’m more of the mind of i never trust the mainstream until they prove me wrong ;)
