If I had a nickel for every Beauty and the Beast fan fiction I’ve read where Gaston has a weird beef with Froufrou, I would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot but it’s weird that it happened twice, right?

Got any post curse BATB 2017 characters adopting cats?
You know, I did have this headcanon that during the curse there were stray cats that sometimes wandered into the castle looking for food or something, and they were either chased away by Froufrou (just because he’s a cushion-bench doesn’t mean he still doesn’t act and sound like a dog) or Chapeau would manage to find them before Froufrou (or much worse, the Beast).  Mrs. Potts and Cuisinier would find some way to feed the poor little ones–“They’ve been out in the snow; they’re probably freezing to death,” Mrs. Potts fretted–before they would send them on their way.
This lasts for years.  Every stray cat in the area just knew about this castle with the strange teapots and hatracks that would help them from time to time.
Then the curse breaks.
And the cats are too scared to come near the castle because suddenly the whole village has come over, and there are loud celebrations and singing and dancing…and it lasts for weeks. It takes months before everything starts to settle down.
And suddenly, one peaceful day…cats storm the castle.
And Chapeau, Mrs. Potts, and Cuisinier immediately know what’s up…but everyone else freaks out.  Froufrou begins chasing several of them, sending the entire castle into panic mode, because now there are hungry cats everywhere.
Not to mention Cadenza, who now defines panic mode because Garderobe’s allergic to cats.
No one ever did remember how they got everything under control…but after about an hour of searching the castle and getting every last cat into the kitchens to be fed, they all come together and wonder what the heck they’re going to do with all these cats.
Lumiere’s all for turning the castle into one big cat hotel, but it’s not only Cogsworth that vetoes that immediately (nearly everyone has a reason why that’s a bad idea, even Plumette).
That is, all except….for Belle.
She has an idea, just like she always does.
Now, it has been confirmed that Belle turns the library into a school for the young children that don’t know how to read.
Wouldn’t it be nice, she says, if the children could have some cats to play with and feed?  It would add an extra level of fun to the whole experience.  That way, only a few cats would come in at a time, but most of them could still be outside.  Works for everyone!
Except for Garderobe, who is, in fact, still allergic to cats.
So whenever the Italians are visiting, the cats can’t come inside or into the gardens.  Period.
(but then again, they’re never allowed in the gardens because they’ll mess it up…)
Oh, and Mrs. Potts does adopt one of them.  Because Chip and Jean both took an incredible liking to it.
