It's funny how in Knives Out they specifically establish why any of the other characters would've heard of Benoit Blanc (someone wrote a New Yorker article about a case he solved) but in Glass Onion it's just taken for granted that of course he's a world-famous celebrity who everyone's heard of. The Knives Out case got a lot of coverage, I guess.

I sometimes wonder about American Halloween...
It seems to have always been a uniquely American thing -- the way we celebrate it, in America, I mean -- doesn't seem to have parallels in other countries. Even going back to the mid-1800s (when it seems to have started).
And it's ebbed and flowed even in my own lifetime. When I was a kid, it was little more than an excuse for an in-class party with cupcakes in elementary school (the under-12 ages), and trick-or-treating after dinner. Cutting a pair of eye holes out of a sheet and throwing it over your head was a perfectly acceptable costume.
Now, it's on a par with America's over-the-top Christmas (A neighbor across the cul-de-sac from me has a giant jack-o-lantern light setup on their roof). And I can't remember the turning point of when it became so big.
And I wonder what the trigger was. Could it have been (as with so much else in this country) 9/11?
Not that I mind. I like the spoopy, and the whimsy. But I do wonder.

Given the Leverage crew are pretty much always on comms during jobs, there are loads of moments we see only one or two people in, but everyone else must hear.
Like in The Experimental Job, Eliot’s “I can’t forget” speech is heard by everyone, and I want to know what they think about that. In the same job, do they all hear Parker and Hardison’s argument (or have they taken their comms out for the evening)?
In The Rundown Job, Eliot must have heard Harsison’s “I can’t lose you” speech to Parker, and he probably smiled to himself as he handcuffed unconscious bad guy to a chair because *them*.
Does everyone get to hear “Two good ol’ boys” being sung???
Also, though, the comms must have been out of range or out entirely for much of The Big Bang Job for no one else to hear the pool scene and gunfight.
(Redemption musings on this below the cut)
Importantly on this stream of musing, does everyone hear Eliot telling Sophie that he will never be redeemed, and what does Parker think about this? And also that he sounded proud of all of them being redeemed and 😭
We know they had comms in for the date night so Eliot must have heard Parker and Hardison’s conversation about him leaving and been ☹️
And Parker’s in a tree watching in the walk in the woods job - did she think what we all thought, that Eliot was about to kiss Paul? 😂

I know it's a cop out but what if at the end of One Piece they find Laugh Tale and the treasure in a locked chest around a sea of gold and jewels. After shenanigans they manage to open it.
Cut to a pov shot from inside the chest with all the Straw Hats looking down into it with awe and confusion for a solid beat and Luffy just laughs.
"Sorry to keep you all waiting!"
It's you. It's us. We're the one piece. Being King of the Pirates, freest of them all, means getting to finally see the audience for themselves.
What fucking cheese lmao, I doubt it'd be that after this long but the mental image is pretty sweet ngl

i know there are strong feelings this, but i actually quite like how book!snape movie!snape are different
i think the best adaptations always bring a different perspective or are a different take on the original material, and while the hp movies are by no means any where near the category of best adaptations (nice costumes and good memes tho) since harry and his friends don't lie, cheat or steal (or use torture curses) anyway near as much as they do in the books, why can't movie!snape be a subtler, more mature man? (one might be related to the other actually...) after all the meaner mess of a man still exists in the books so we still have both!

okay so i've generally tried to use gods plural when using exclamations that reference (the traditionally Christian) god but what if. instead of saying oh my god (which even without the capital the christian god is still assumed) or oh my gods / oh gods (for the more overt "i recognize more than one god as being gods" but still comes across as annoying based around how some people who worship pantheons act) i instead said 'oh My god" which to people who dont think about that shit would just come across as internet weird capitalization in strange places but to people wo actually Get It it would be clear that i am referring to a personal god, of my own invention, who belongs to nobody else

Fool
“Are you an idiot? Have you learned nothing from your life before the Flood?!” Remia hissed, her fist once again connecting with the cold metal of Zero’s armor. “You nearly died and for what? For some strangers you’ve only just met? They fed you and suddenly their food is equal to your life? Worth more than your life?!”
Zero didn’t respond as Remia continued punching at her chest, her knuckles wet with blood.
“You gave up. I felt it—I felt how you just accepted death and didn’t even attempt to fight while you lay there in the snow!” Another punch accented her words. “You said it yourself that death in this world is final so how could you be reckless? So selfish?!”
Lifting her hand just as Remia was about to punch her again, Zero caught her bloodied fist. “Why are you upset?” She asked while the young woman tried to pull away, her anger flaring that much more. “I don’t see what I did wrong. As the others already pointed out, I helped save those soldiers.”
Remia raised her other hand to try and push Zero back and free herself only for the memoriate to grab her wrist, locking her in place. Her uncovered eye narrowed as Zero studied her. Tried to understand why she was so angry. To place a name to the foreign emotion swirling behind the ivory of her eye.
“I made the mistake once before of getting too close to someone who had already given up on themselves…” Remia whispered lowly. “Don’t you dare make me look like a fool for a second time.”
I've had this idea swirling about in my mind since we went on the field trip to Garlemald with Zero and I have no regrets. I can just imagine how hurt Remia would feel after all of this because even though her memories of Yotsuyu are a blur at best, her emotions tied to their history would still pack one hell of a punch. 100% she's projecting onto Zero out of raw fear she'll lose the second person she's ever dared get close to. But of course, in true Remia fashion, she refuses to acknowledge that she genuinely cares about Zero and instead defaults to blaming her for causing this whole mess. Bless Zero for having the patience of a saint while dealing with the trainwreck that is Remia lmaO also the fact that remia was punching zero to cause herself pain rather than actually try and hurt her is so sad like why did i make my oc have this much trauma holy hell

Random thought of the day: since the Rainbow Dragon Cave is so high up on Youkai Mountain, it's probably very unlikely that Momoyo's managed to dig down far enough to penetrate the Underworld. But suppose she did, and suppose she didn't bother to tell anyone about it. Any vengeful spirits that went exploring enough might find a new avenue to escape from and Momoyo could cause a small crisis by sheer accident.
Honestly it's too bad that it is so unlikely.

Reading The Song of Roland and y'know it's nice to read an Ancient, Respected Classic that's just. Trash. A jingoistic action movie. The 11th century equivalent of 300, a historical war depicted in a wildly inaccurate and propagandistic way as an excuse for buff macho warriors to face off against poorly-researched stereotypes of foreign enemies and then kill them in spectacularly violent and improbable ways. You want depth? Nuance? Timeless themes that still speak to the common human experience nearly a thousand years later? Fuck you. You'll take Charlemagne's nephew cutting a Saracen in half with his sword and you'll like it.

Things "The Little Mermaid" taught me as a small kid who grew up afab:
-Find a guy with a dog, they're clearly the best guys out there
-Learn to sing really well to get the cutest boy
-Don't let my dad find out who I'm in love with lest he be destroyed
-Let the royal servants of my crush dote on me when I'm found washed up on the shore; that dress is the cutest
-Electric eels are the absolute worst
-Horses are very large and I'm now afraid of carriages
-Seagulls make great friends to crash a wedding with
-Learning how to steer a ship will help me defeat evil by stabbing a giant sea monster with the pointy bit up front

Things that are causing me to have some trouble starting BG3:
Choice overload.
Not being sure that a character I start will work out.
Needing more Skillz.
I think I have an answer for the first run-through. Githyanky Rogue or possibly Bard. Githyanki special ability gives me a whole set of proficiencies that can be changed every day. And, Rogue is Rogue.
I might be able to make that work, and it won't be the first time I've come up with a conception after a build. I usually play spellcasters first, but the paralysis is getting ridiculous.
And take whichever of the two classes I didn't take in the first place later.

Still just a "sideways" fan of One Piece, but that doesn't stop me from coming up with Wacky!theories
For those who missed my earlier posts about this: I call myself a sideways fan, because I have no plans to read the manga, or watch the anime, but I've still acquired an interest in the story, and enjoy eavesdropping on more committed fans' theories and analysis.
Anyway: Even though I'm just a sideways fan, I have an idea about what the One Piece might actually be ... I'll put it behind the "Keep Reading."
Okay, so what we "know" (What Eiichiro Oda has said or hinted): 1. It's an actual thing, and not a metaphor or state of mind (aka "the friends we made along the way"), and 2. It's utterly ridiculous, and when you discover it, you'll burst out laughing (at least, that's what Gol D. Roger did)
And what we have come to expect from his writing: that there are parallels between characters and story arcs.
Therefore: I think the "One Piece" is the "All Blue," or the One Piece will be found at the center of the All Blue, or something like that.
