For the Tommy writing prompts, I have 2, sorta. So my Tommy head cannon and Tommy childhood thoughts is that he grew up with a physically abusive father and an emotionally abusive mother (much like Jim Street from SWAT) that he doesn't really talk to but still call him all of the time which occasionally effects him at work but not often (like every once in a whole he'll be a sick to a teammate which is usually unlike him).

When Evan tells him about his family, and all of the baggage and the drama, and how much better things are now, Tommy nods and smiles. He's happy that people can grow and relationships can be repaired. He's proof of that.

But his parents, he can't forgive them. And he won't.

He screens his calls.

He never picks up the numbers he recognizes as theirs.

He never picks up the numbers he doesn't recognize.

He avoids talking about his own parents or his own family as much as he can.

The only person who knows the truth is his best friend and work wife, the one who put up with his shit from Day One. And she's the one who covers for him. Talks up some bullshit excuse for why he isn't his typical self, whether it's a bad dream or bad tacos.

"Why don't just change your number?" Olivia asks him one afternoon.

Tommy shrugs. They're terrible parents and quite frankly, terrible people. But they're still his parents.

Olivia sighs, but instead of taking half of the uneaten sandwich on Tommy's plate, she adds another half a sandwich from her plate. "Eat. You haven't had your lunch. And I know you can pack it in."

Tommy looks at his plate with his disinterest. Which is odd because he loves Evan's Monte Cristos.

Normally, this would pass with time and Tommy would revert back to himself. Olivia has to trust that. But this time, she has an ace up her sleeve.

"Talk to Evan. He's been asking about you. Says he thinks something's off but he doesn't know what."

Tommy looks up some his plate with a questionning look. She simply shakes her head.

"I'll tell him." There is a pause. "Thanks for having my back."

This time, Olivia just nods. And finally, Tommy gets himself to eat.

just think it's after the lightning strike, the buckleys have gone back to pennsylvania and he saw how they are now with jee and how ready they were to accept maddie and chim having another baby and they weren't like that for him when he was a child and he goes to bobby and he just breaks down because why were they only like that with him when he got hurt

The negativity is making me not want to read 911 right now. Like I have a few authors that I will still read cause they aren't spreading hate, but other than that, I'm staying away. I've unsubscribed from a couple of people cause they were doing bashing fics, and that wasn't what I wanted. My main ones are you, spots, hoodiebuck, monsterrae, and lozerdiaz for now. If you have any recommendations of authors I could read, I'd appreciate it. I just joined the fandom in August.

I can definitely understand where you’re coming from and why you may be pulling back from reading. Totally respect that.

It’s sad though, because it discourages writers (not including myself since you kindly continue to read my stuff) who are not spreading negativity but aren’t getting read because people are pulling back.

This isn’t me telling you what to do though - if you feel like you need to pull back, then definitely do. Your wellbeing is important. Don't let anyone try and tell you otherwise.

I get not wanting to read bashing fics either - I do try and avoid them for the most part, personally. But I will say that if people want to write and post bashing fics, that's totally fine as well, because it's their right (not that I'm saying you are implying people cannot). I myself have posted a Diaz parents bashing fic myself, and will fully support Buckley parent bashing. I just hope those people are tagging appropriately so people like yourself can avoid bashing stories when searching for new stories to read and want to avoid that.

This negativity and toxicity that has been growing lately is one of the sad sides of fandom. Unfortunately, we will never escape it. We learn to shift and adjust who we follow, what we read, and who we support so that we can curate our own happy experience. Not that I think there is a reason for being so negative or toxic. (Honestly, why can people not ship multiple ships??? Jeez.)

But anyways...I'm sorry that you are struggling to find enjoyment in reading. Because as I've said many times before, there is so many wonderful ideas being created for us to enjoy.

The authors you've mentioned are all ones I also read frequently (although there are a few of their stories I haven't read because of the pairing, but that's MY choice to not read and no shame to them - because newsflash to the haters- you do NOT have to read every single story, especially if you don't like it), so well done on your choices.

I think they are all lovely people on Tumblr and are wonderful authors with amazing ideas. I probably have more I could recommend too, but I did try to stick with more active people. And there are some authors on this list who are leaning heavily towards BuckTommy while others are still going strong with Buddie, so there's a mixture for people's interest in pairings. (I want to mention @hippolotamus & @lemonzestywrites as well -both of whom are working on amazing stuff but have life in the way and are currently unable to be super active with their writing but go read stuff they've posted on their A03 and support them, pelase. And also special special shout out to my lovely @actualalligator because how can I NOT mention Al?) And a few more A03 authors who I'm not certain of their Tumblr are: allisonRW96, justhockey, fleetinghearts, bccalling These are authors who I have been subscribed to since essentially the beginning of my entrance into the fandom and they have never disappointed me with their works.

I'm more than happy to make a post recommending some of the amazing stories I've been indulging in lately too. But this post is plenty long enough as is haha

@ hit the floor anon i've tried posting your ask twice, but tumblr isn't cooperating, so here we go first of all - same wavelength. thank you. "antis" rejecting the possibility of a buck/tommy kiss in episode six are building it up to be some Big Thing as if onlookers are gonna start clapping or audibly GASP because they had no idea Buck was attracted to men, too and then start gossiping amongst themselves. but that's not how i see it all. given what we know about the plot, given what else is supposed to be going on (chimney in the hospital), the more likely scenario (IMO) is that buck kisses tommy in front of a select group of family and friends because yes, tommy does find chimney and does get him the medical attention he needs, but the reactions will be mostly in the facial expressions - confused and/or amused depending on who we're looking at - because Now Is Not the Time. (I think this is where some of the catastrophizing comes in, tbh. I've seen people talk about Tommy "saving the day" so Madney can get married and I'm like...we all saw that promo, right? Something's wrong with Chim. He's not getting transported to the wedding venue when he clearly needs a doctor first. *That's* probably where Tommy crosses paths with the others.) ngl, I find this whole idea that a second kiss is supposed to take away the attention from another couple laughable just because the entire point of buck realizing he's bi later in life has been for it NOT to be treated like a huge shock, and when you remove homophobia from the equation (sorry, buckley parents haters)...the actual reaction is already set up to be much more subdued than the fandom is expecting.

Feelin' Good (Could Be Better) || Buddie || 10/10 Chapters || 24.6k words

Hi, I just realized I never made a post for the full work since I completed this a month or two back, so I thought I'd give it a little post!

SUMMARY

The Buckley parents unexpectedly visit, turning Buck's already shaky mental status from precarious to impossibly worse. Buck joins Maddie, Chimney, and his parents for a dreadful dinner. We take a little look into Buck's childhood through a series of flashbacks. And Buck is super fine thanks for asking, he'll just bake about it. And think about kissing Eddie, obviously. There's a family barbecue in attempt to keep the Buckley's on their best behavior. It doesn't really work. SNIPPET

Before he has a chance to make an attempt at opening the door, it flies open to reveal May, who stares at their offerings in disbelief and bewilderment. “How many more people are coming?” May asks, dazed. “We’re the last ones,” Eddie replies, amused. May takes the cookies off his hands and follows them to the kitchen. “Good Lord, Buck,” Athena exclaims, torn between horror and amusement. “He bakes when he’s anxious.” Eddie offers. “Maybe next time, just book an extra therapy session.” May teases. Buck, who is standing by the sink, grabs the hose attachment and sprays her with it, earning a shrieking laugh. “Don’t even try me, Grant,” Buck threatens. “You’re cleaning that up,” Athena informs Buck, who is already grabbing a towel to soak the water up from the floor. “I’ll tell Bobby you two made it inside.” Athena hesitates. “Everyone is already here. And your sister is babysitting your parents.” Buck nods, smoothing down his shirt. “Right.” Chimney darts inside, holding onto his glass for dear life, looking like a man in desperate need of a buoy. “Booze?” He blurts at Athena, who gestures towards the fridge. “That bad?” Eddie asks in amusement. "Oh, thank God, you’re here. It's almost your turn for babysitting duty.” “I agreed to no such thing. I plan on avoiding my parents until we all sit down for dinner.” Buck replies. Chimney opens the fridge, brandishing gold tequila at him. “Either of you in?” “Definitely,” Buck says, joining him. He grabs three disposable shot glasses from the drink area and hands them to Chimney. “I’m the potential getaway driver, so I’ll be drinking a beer early on at most.” “That’s genius. If you escape, please take me with you.” Chimney pleads, he fills all three shot glasses, and pushes two of them towards Buck. “You can have Eddie’s.” They cheers, tapping the shots on the counter before swallowing down the sharp, cheap tequila. He throws the second one back and shivers. Chimney glances at Eddie while grabbing three beers from the fridge. “Ready to meet your in-laws?” Buck feels himself flush at Chimney’s implication, but Eddie simply rolls his eyes, unphased. He cracks open the beer that Chimney hands him, “Come on, let's go rip the band-aid off.” Eddie offers. He sets a warm, grounding hand on Buck’s shoulder, steering him to the patio doors. Chimney leads the charge.

Above is a small offering of fluff to appease you. I'm sorry, there is a lot of angst ahead.

This is basically just a fic about how much I hate the Buckley parents and yes I made them even worse, you're welcome! I went Hater school so I would have the tools to properly hate Margaret and Phillip Buckley.
