so, there's not all too much i can really say if i ever do anything, since most of the things i've thought about are pretty plot-relevant. i can try to put a couple things

so, he still dies but he's not quite as, well, helpful. he kinda fell into a slump sine he worked so hard on everything with the band and, in his lifetime they weren't really all too popular. so he's been in some piece of tech, a computer still, and thinks things over.

oh, he's been almost erased from company history, not in like a gaster way though, more like the company blacks out any images of his face

i'll make him a little bio once i have enough n decide if i'll actually make a story of this or kinda just release little tidbits little-by-little. what i could tell you is the songs in the playlist i had added because of sonny's involvement in the story though

i have a few little sketches of his (concept) design so here, have a concept (not great quality screenshots)

as for ocs, yeah. that's perfectly alright. band-ify your little guys if you want! basically the only guideline is that they can't have an instrument that someone else in the band has (though, a guitar or different type of drum are both alright) and kinda have a rock-esc aesthetic to them OH! and tag me! i'd love to see them!

My brother is gay (he's 28) so I'm used to hanging out with him and his friendship circle. We live in Manchester. All of these guys except one have buzzcuts or very short hair and dress in a stereotypically masculine way. Only one has longish hair and none of them wear rings or nail varnish. I fully believe you! Again, i think some of you are misunderstanding the topic of conversation. I know that there are different subcultures of queer culture. Not every gay man has long hair and wear hotpants. But the general public does harbour some queer stereotypes that are yes, very outdated and many times untrue, but it still doesn't change the fact that these old stereotypes still exists in the general public. The more feminine looking and acting gay men are more easily clocked as gay, both by the general public and by the queer community. So these old stereotypes also still exists within the queer community. That's why Harry gets so many queerbaiter accusations from his own community when presenting a more straight looking image, because they go by old stereotypes. It's just how things are currently. In order to rid ourselves of and challenge these old stereotypes, more straight passing gay men needs to come out, and they need to get attention and exposure in the mainstream media.

i’ve been reading your analysis/rewatch notes about nana and they are really insightful and helped me understand hachi’s actions a lot more. also they are really funny. I reread the manga and honestly i do think ai yazawa did plan to have a romance story that was about nana and hachi being actually romantic partners in the end (maybe it’s just my head cannon idk). if ai yazawa did come back from hiatus and continued nana how would you like it to end?

i really appreciate this though. i'm glad that you could find my notes funny and helpful in better understanding hachi's actions!! :) i regret never finishing my note series. i really enjoyed writing them and loved getting comments from people sharing their own thoughts on any given episode.

all that aside,

a part of me agrees with you that the romance between hachi and nana was intentional. so much so I would argue that they have canonical romantic feelings toward each other. they explicitly describe how they feel as something like true love, something like falling in love for the first time, etc etc. they're also narrating to each other. all these years into the future, and they are still centered in each other's lives. i guess my thing is...i think ai yazawa intended for nana and hachi's ending to be with them together, but i'm not sure it was intended to be read as queer. romantic, sure, but in a platonic way.

the likelihood of nana ever getting finished is low, but if ai yazawa were to come back from hiatus one day, i think it would end with hachi and nana reuniting and potentially living together again. I don't see hachi being with nobu or takumi and i don't see nana ending up with yasu either. nana and hachi pick each other and learn how to properly depend on one another. thats what I think ai yazawa planned.

and i think that would be an ending that satisfies both of their arcs. hachi is meant to learn that maintaining some independence doesn't have to mean being alone and/or lonely. and that the person she can depend on for this need doesn't have to be a man or romantic partner. basically, reuniting with nana is hachi's journey to depending on others in a societally unconventional way, which requires some level of confidence and independence she didn't have at the beginning of the series. nana is meant to finally let herself depend on others and in the process open herself up to love and vulnerability. to realize that despite her disappearance, despite hachi having children now, she still waited for her to come back. to learn to depend on and to be depended on is not only a risk but something fulfilling.

on the question of how the reunion would actually go down...i don't really have too many opinions. would I rather nana finally come back to everyone on her own or for hachi to find her? i'm not really sure. i really don't know which one i would consider better- i think there's an argument for both. i think the manga was pointing in the direction of hachi being the one to cross that bridge though.

maybe ai yazawa WOULD pair off nana and yasu idk. i've personally never really liked them that much together and i don't think nana actually loved him. not like she loved hachi. but i admit i see that being a possibility in ai yazawa's vision. hachi ending up with nobu or takumi? not so much. i truly, genuinely, believe hachi was intended to be a single mother who at least gets to reunite with her old homoerotic bestie in the end.

in conclusion... i don't really care that much whether or not nana and hachi are girlfriends by the end or simply galpals. i just want them to end up together and not date any of the men. it will all be lesbianism to me either way. however, i think the main reason i feel this way is because i don't think we'll ever get an ending lmao. they absolutely end up as girlfriends in MY vision.

i'm not sure, to be honest! in the beginning it was just a funny thing isolated to the ddvd au, but i'd be lying if i hadn't gotten genuinely attached to their relationship... though, in relation to what i've said before - it wouldn't be happening any time soon after jtta ends. potentially i could sprinkle in some moments in that post-jtta thing i keep mentioning?

re: solphisto! again, even if they were to end up together, it'd be post-jtta, and a lot of the steps would more likely take place in private - in any case, any ik-centric writing wouldn't focus much on romance, so it'd be in the background

for the record, this is going to be the case for belpheroth as well! so i guess it's more just a matter of whether people want to see the pairings - since their appearances aren't going to affect the main jtta plotline, and won't significantly affect the plan for that bonus, i'm at liberty to do whatever. then again, when the time comes, i might decide they're too cute and add them regardless of how anyone feels. that's the power of authorship, baby!

i might conduct a poll once jtta's finished about it? the brothers poll got more votes than i expected, so it might be a decent metric (then again, i don't know how many of those votes came from jtta readers and how many were just general obey me players, so perhaps not)

I feel like sexuality and gender is pretty much on the back Back burner for Kuron. Like i do think he had few flings with people and aliens all genders but it wasnt anything serious. Just a way to fooling around and have fun and pass time for everyone involved. I feel like with everything going on both these things werent the priority for him to examine. And according to Kuron they really arent even that important! People are so weird and obsessed about romance and sex when they arent even that big of a deal and Kuron is pretty sure people are making shit up like "falling in love at first sight" and "people actually feel hot and bothered when they see a hot person" like this is just made up, this all has to be made up or exaggeration, right? (In which Kuron is aro-spec and sex positive ace and doesnt have a hint of self awareness or reflection to realize this until years later)

As for gender, this too is at back burner. But he is a guy, but he is also not a guy, but also not not a guy. Like he's chill with being identified as male but is also just really disconnected with masculanity or even gender as a concept that both his assigned one or any other one neither feel right nor wrong but just. Is. (I maybe projecting here a bit)

But yeah he would explore it, later on though. Cause like again lot of shit is going on.

Night 2 in a row of not being able to sleep because my pelvis hurts too fucking much. I took ibuprofen before bed, but it didn't do shit, much like it didn't do shit for me throughout all of yesterday. So sick of there always being something that hurts bad enough to disrupt my sleep.

#pain #chronic pain #pretty sure it's endometriosis but no doctor will ever entertain that idea #i had one tell me i have a bunch of cysts after an ultrasound. but when i asked what i can do about that she literally just shrugged #she said something like 'having a half dozen dime-sized cysts isn't cause for concern' #like. ok. but what if that's what's causing the pain? #I've known several people with ovarian cysts who get them removed and suddenly have no pain #but because it's a fEmALe RePrOdUcTiVe SyStEm issue doctors never fucking listen #and i don't have insurance so it's not like i can go pester every obgyn in the area until one listens to me #but I'm looking into booking shit through the health department because it's like $50 without insurance #planned parenthood also does checkups for cheap/free but it always gets burnt down as soon as it reopens so... #like they just rebuilt this summer and are already closed due to severe damage done to the building -_- #i just want to go one day without being in a stupid amount of pain. is that so much to ask? #if it's not my back it's a headache. if it's not a headache it's my knees. if it's not my knees it's my pelvis. #it's no way to live. #and the answer i get time and time again is 'get more active and take ibuprofen for the pain ' #cool. great. I'm extremely active. i run like 2 miles a day and move a lot at work. which I'm not supposed to because of my disability. #i take so much ibuprofen that I'll probably have some organ failure from it later #I'm doing what you said doc. when's it work? how many years of 'being more active' until it ends? #I'm literally not supposed to exert myself in any way because it can make my brain problem worse. yet it's what everyone says will cure it #and sure. running will sometimes make the lower back pain go away. but that's just pain from sitting in a chair weird. #the actual pain never ceases. laying down is the only thing that helps that. #and then I'll get the pelvic pain and nothing eases that. not pain meds. not heat. not laying or standing in certain ways. nothing. #so here i am at 7:30am on my day off trying not to scream because I've been up since about 4am doing anything i can to ease the pain
