I’m a Joel Miller apologist and Idc. They were going to have to KILL Ellie in order to extract the cordyceps from her brain. You see him literally say this out-loud to Marlene. They weren’t even sure that they could even create a cure. If he didn’t kill all those people, they would have come for Ellie. Even the guy that was surrendering, had to die because Joel couldn’t risk there being any witnesses.

Yes, his decision has consequences (I don’t want to talk about that) but if he was given the choice, I don’t think he would have changed what he did. He protected her. That’s literally been his only goal.

Am I in shambles right now? YES because so much happened in the short period of time. The giraffe and Joel trying to cheer Ellie up with her favorite things. The way he talked about Sarah and how her and Ellie would get along??

What if I said my love for the last of us and Joel miller in general isn’t JUST because it’s the best thing to ever exist and I love the story but it stems from the fact I don’t have a father anymore and when he was in my life he was a TERRIBLE PERSON and I crave a dad and I wish I had a dad who would sacrifice the possibility for a better world if it meant I could stay alive and I view Joel as my father figure.

I think the thing that gets me the most re: if a vaccine would work in tlou is that even if they DID get one, and it DID work, how are we sure that the literal fascists government in play won’t monetize/gatekeep it?

we already have issues with health care and medicine being kept from people who need it, we’re shown fedra keeps supplies/food/other necessities from survivors. we’re shown that the fireflies are on their last legs, with no outward reach. how the hell would they be able to distribute a vaccine with their limited resources without fedra taking over?

the desperation of finally having a lead into a cure blinded a lot of perception. idk it’s like.. even if it worked and the infected were wiped out, there’s worst things out there than infected

A good reason why I’m deeply concerned for whoever plays Abby in TLOU season 2 is because Joel is played by Pedro Pascal.

So I’m terrified for her because it’s likely that she’d get the same hate as Laura Bailey did back then, if not more.

Funny how Nolan North and Scott Shepherd did not receive this level of hate, but rather, praise for how well they portrayed that pedo character….
