I am so painfully tired, which has translated alternatingly into feelings of both rage and despair this week. It is going to be a long next four weeks.

Anyway, I’ve said before that I love Hitsugaya best when he is being as boring as possible, and this week I really got to luxuriate in that, because in this part of Hinamori’s chapter she is basically letting Hitsugaya talk at her about all of the things that annoyed him about the captain’s meeting just got back from, including:

And what is more gloriously entertaining than thinking about ghost FEMA and uh idk ghost NAFTA? Well, thinking about ghost budget archives, obviously, which is what they spend the NEXT part of the scene doing. Hinamori is a Real One.

Something I’m working out now is how I want to describe the budget annotations. My vision for why these budget sheets are annoying (besides being written by some yahoo 10th captain emeritus from several hundred years ago) is that the language they’re written in is super old school, even by shinigami standards.

I’m basing the way they’re written off of kanbun, which is a way of annotating Classical Chinese, and back in the day was used for poetry translations but also reports, newspapers, etc. as a way of condensing writing. I’m trying not to get too in the weeds about that, because the point is creative verisimilitude, not historical accuracy; this is a GHOST BUDGET SHEET. I just want the shriveled old budgets to be written in a way that is frustratingly not the norm now, for misery’s sake. But I need to decide how I’ll describe that in a way that 1) is true to Hinamori’s POV, since she knows what she’s looking at (mostly) and doesn’t need to belabor the point, but 2) makes enough sense to the audience to not derail anything.

As far as verisimilitude goes, part of me is sitting here refuting my own budget sheet headcanon like "this idea doesn’t work because THEY DEFINITELY STILL WRITE GOTEI REPORTS LIKE THAT. The reports never modernized!" Because, really, why would they? The arguments I can think of in favor of my desires are 1) The SC is written in modern Japanese, 2) I don’t think you can T9 kanbun on a flip phone, Hitsugaya, and 3) they only have *six years* to learn how to be shinigami, how much time are they going to waste teaching these illiterate fucks how to read and write in TWO different forms? (Counterargument: Joe Shinigami has infinite time between grunt work and seated report-writing work to learn kanbun if he wants that sweet promotion.)

Bearing in mind that all this writing system talk is right before Hitsugaya and Hinamori talk about statistical modeling and the way research-based duty release works in the Gotei, so any description of *the history of writing systems in Soul Society* is not entering into this tabula rasa, and there’s already a bunch of off-hand, in-the-weeds Work Talk weighting the scale, LOL.

In any case, Hinamori and Hitsugaya are on the brink of running out of math to talk about, at which point they will have no choice but to talk about feelings. (As though all the math wasn’t also about feelings).

Thoughts on the 8th ep of Hypmic Rhyme Anima. Spoilers beware

Love that every time its a MTC centric episode im so busy that i can’t watch it the day it airs

I like how the beginning of the episode kinda mirrors the events in MTC’s story in ARB

hey hypmic you wanna try making it Less obvious who the culprit is? like damn you’re just giving away secrets like its candy. First Ramuda, the Ruikawa and now these two assholes. Might wanna keep your cards close before you spoil the ending of the anime oh wait they already did that nvm :p

Samatoki please have some sense of self preservation and ask what its about before accepting something. but I guess it also speaks to how trusting he is of those he lets close to him which also explains a bit more as to why he hates Ichirou’s guts

Love that Jyuto is actually choking the information out of someone and Samatoki is actually gathering intelligence and creating boards out of it. Most people expect the opposite from their characters and it such a great dynamic

I find it hilarious that Rio uses older computers but that brings up the question of “How far into the future really is hypmic?” bc those computers look to be from early 2000′s which would be A N C I E N T and completely unusable for hacking come a time when WWIII happens

Iris on a bike has no rights looking as hot as she does. The vehicle CGI is really nice too and so is her character model on top of the bike. Loving how Iris completely owns the two cops

The MTC love here is jsut. through the roof i can die happy now that i’ve seen Samatoki aggressively caring for his teammates animated and voiced. like, please. just. help. I can.t/ MTC care so much for each other I would hug them all and tell them good work, you can finally go rest now uughghghgh MTC guys. MTC

I find it hilarious that Saburo would pose as a game dev from dubai which yknow doesn’t make any sense if you think about it. but whatever it just makes me laugh at how easy it is to fake a lot about yourself because yeah! it is easy!

The whole conversation about cops and good cops seems a bit off considering ACAB but considering Japan who has largely swept both BLM and ACAB under the rug it isn’t surprising. That isn’t to say that Japan doesn’t care, its just that these movements aren’t on the spotlight so topics like these don’t carry as much weight

The kurosawa-esque b&w screens are a nice touch to the song as well as the MC Name drops and hypnosis speaker drops. Idk about Rio’s 2DIE4 reference though since it doesn’t really rhyme nor does it add much to the rap itself

The song itself is pretty nice but it isn’t a bop like Fallin’ was. It has a different more gritty feel to it that i don’t hate but isn’t my style

Of course Iruma pulls this situation into his favor, its so typical of him.

Rio didn’t speak much here and took a general backseat to everything. I wonder if it was because during the time of recording this episode, Rio’s VA, Kamio Shinichiro, went down with The Virus (you know the one) so he couldn’t record much. Who knows but best boy. just let me hear best boy’s voice please

Ramuda’s phone vibrate actively annoys me oh my god it makes my skin crawl

If Ramuda’s sleeping on the couch then that really does confirm that Ramuda lives in his studio. Not surprising considering everything we know about Ramuda but at the same time, please get like a futon or smth sleeping on a couch will only hurt your back

Ramuda just busting in is fun

but im not sure how to feel about two divisions shoved into one. like this is basically telling us who is the important divisions, Ikebukuro and Shinjuku. Obviously BB are the protagonists of the series what with the staff coming out to even say that Ichirou is the hero, and if you know what happens then you know why Shinjuku is also highlighted which. also gives away the ending of the anime. again. I’m just glad that the team decided to stick with the irl results bc if they didn’t, they’d have a lot of angry fans

Back to my main point tho, this just. pisses me off. I love FP and MTC and to see them sidelined like this doesn’t feel fair. they deserve full eps to themselves bc if I’m being honest, these two teams have some of the best inter team dynamics out of the current cast. I understand that budget issues and episode constraints exist but this is just kinda frustrating that my main division has been tossed aside and the team that gets the most overall development gets thrown away too

Im not surprised that they cheated because gambling anime is about who can outcheat the other and the mind games played. thats the thrill of gambling series is the psychological factors in it

Ramuda emulating Gentaro’s speech is cute

no speaker summon sequence? thats slightly disappointing but whatever. the anime is really doing FP dirty by cutting a lot of corners with their episodes

I never noticed that Ramuda and Gentaro hold their mics in their left hand while Dice holds it with his right. neat detail

I love how even in a battle FP still keeps their preppy attitude

Gentaro looks so awkward to the little sway and kick thing in the song lolol

This is probably one of the songs that I like the least. Jackpost is a very Dice song and not really fitting for either Ramuda and Genaro. I think i’d like it more if it was a dice solo or dice centric but the emphasis was pretty cleanly spread so that makes it pretty hard to enjoy

Oh hell yeah FP meshing as a team is just, so cute. Though that foreshadowing with Ramuda and his candy is just. wow

Yup they kept the og brackets so I think the anime’s going to stick with the IRL results. Which means that any tension they try and build won’t work for ppl who are already familiar with the series but I hope they don’t take that fact as an excuse to slack off

Day 3- 16/12/18

The sister prepared us noodles for breakfast, it was really healthy and not greasy like noodles I always had in my country. No wonder I couldn’t really see any obese people in Vietnam. Everyone is skinny and most of the girls are really petite.

Taught three kids to speak English with their course materials after breakfast. They were actually good and making an effort. I was shook that they were learning cm square to km square conversion already for Maths in elementary school because back in my country we only learn advance conversion calculations during high school. But their English progression is quite slow compared to other subjects. I thank the person whoever created google translate because we were actually communicating through it. The kids were so playful, they were teasing me as Malaysia lost the football match against Vietnam yesterday. Khang took my phone to take videos of his friends playing. It was hilarious. Childhood is honestly the best years.

I took a nap after teaching and went to our dining place (a gazebo) to write my diary and the kids served me lunch. I was fed real good. There were pork, beef meatballs, quail eggs and potatoes served with rice.

My job is quite relaxing. I took nap again after lunch because the weather is so hot at that hour *and yes, my lazy arse just wants to stick on the bed*. Here’s a pap of dinner as CRAVING SATISFIED YASSSS, it is bánh mì (bagutte with pork+beef+chicken slices+cucumbers+carrots+radish+tomatoes+oregano..). It’s similar to subway sandwiches but the price is way cheaper and it is just LIT, they even gave us pepsi and fruits. I was fed like a happy pig.

Talked with some kids after dinner, and watched some of them dancing as preparation for Christmas where Deepika & Geta is teaching them bollywood dances. The kids were speaking their own languages and the younger kids can’t really read Vietnamese yet, so they were just shouting and laughing with me. idk. They took my phone for selfie, it was hilarious cause they were like posing like models.

Some were watching TV shows and some are just jumping like a bunny everywhere.

The kids are very discipline, I’m happy how the sister made a wonderful system for them. They wash their own dishes after every meal and wash their own clothes by hand. They will prepare their utensils for the next meal after they finish each meal.

Everything here was better than my expectations, the sisters are really nice :) The food is good ( I thought I’ll only be eating vegan meals everyday, the accommodation even has air-con, and the wi-fi is decent here. The data is unlimited too. The only downside of this place is that is an isolated area, so there’s really no where to go and nothing to do in here unless we take a grab and travel 10mins more. And if there’s another thing that I don’t understand is that they use joss sticks to worship in a catholic church? Maybe it’s similar to candles? ? ? Uhm yea, I really don’t get it.

On a second note, I can’t wait to celebrate Christmas already in this church.

MY B.A.P PARTY BABY- WARSAW BOOM EXPERIENCE

So... this is gonna be a lot but I can honestly say this is one of those things in my life that I’ll treasure always and never forget.

Leggo~!!

My journey for this one actually doesn’t start on the day of the concert, let’s jump back to the 5th of May, shall we? Funnily enough I’m not actually from Warsaw, or Poland for that matter. Nope, ya girl flew herself out all the way over the waters from the UK with my wonderful fellow BABY buds, Shaza & Sandy! Me and these girls have only met twice now (Sandy @ LOE once and Shaza I’ve known mutually for a couple of years now) and when I heard they were going I kinda thought “What the heck” and got myself a couple of plane tickets, a B.A.P FUN ticket and grabbed my passport. Friday was kinda a write-off for me, truly, by the time we’d arrived at our hotel I was pretty knackered. All that travelling, even if it was a short journey, made me sleepy. However, before I shoot over to the main event of my trip I gotta tell you guys about my hotel room. Aight, so we stayed in a pretty fancy place, not gonna lie, the staff were all super friendly and my room was honestly so nice. But the SHOWER thoooo. Okay so Idk if this is a normality in Poland, but my shower was in the middle of my room. No lie that thing was just smack bang in the middle. And it was perfectly aligned so my lazy ass could watch TV, look out onto Poland all whilst scrubbing my hair and humming along to B.A.P on my phone. If I miss anything about that room it’s my goddamn center shower.

Now. Saturday though. I decided I was going to stay at the venue the entire day again, like I did for LOE. My lovelies were going sightseeing for the day so I made my way to Progresja, got my queue number and tickets for Hi-Touch & entrance and so began the long wait~ I met so many people that day. Holy heck. So firstly I made friends with these three ladies in the queue for wristbands, who had just come over from the concert in Frankfurt. We kept bumping into each other throughout the day, in queue and even after the show. A girl also came up to me, whom I’d never met, but she said she remembered me from London because of my Red Hair. Honestly I love that I have this signature hair colour. Not only does it make me feel wonderful it also makes me memorably and I find that super sweet. Thant, who I also met at LOE, found me later on in the day and it was super nice to chill with him for a bit in the sun.

Then. Something really amazing happened. We had heard B.A.P arrive and start rehearsal but about 10 minutes in, the music stopped and suddenly they’ve come out onto the balcony to see us! Some of the fans had prepared a flash mob and came together for B.A.P to see. We all were chanting and waving to them. Youngjae was wearing a blue suit and damn did he work that, Yoo for President. Junhong also looked like a model, as always, and all of the boys kept smiling and waving at us, they clapped all the people dancing and then went back inside to continue rehearsals.

Soon enough, we’re all in our relevant queue systems ready to go into the venue. Progresja is actually a really nice place. It’s a club turned concert hall and it was just the right size for my smol butt to see even though I didn’t have any kind of early entry. I ended up near some really super lit fans; honestly these girlies really made me shout and dance and props to them for being so hyped up even before anything had happened!

So, shall we move onto the concert?

DJ B.Shoo opened up for B.A.P, he had a 10 minute set and honestly, I’ve never known a DJ to hype a crowd like he did. He didn’t play solely kpop but a mix of western songs and he really knew what he was doing to make us jump and scream. Serious props to my guy, he’s super talented and I’m glad he got this platform to show his stuff.

Then the countdown started for B.A.P. They. Rocked. It. I never remember every single song but let me break it down for y’all. The boys were on fire that night, it shows how much they loved seeing us. They did a multitude of songs from most of the eras. I finally got to see Dancing in the Rain Live, I’ve always had a soft spot for it and seeing it really made me let go and have fun! That’s My Jam, Do What I Feel(!!!) really got the crowd going, over to the sexiness of Fermanta and I Guess I Need You, to the likes of Skydive, One Shot and Wake Me Up, it was so lovely to see Yongguk especially getting the love and I’ve never heard a crowd shout so passionately for a member like that. Carnival era has always been lucky for me; Feel So Good, Be Happy and Carnival were all really fun and got us all dancing so energetically, B.A.P always know how to keep us on our toes. We also got their solo’s that night and hoh boy lemme tell you. Jongup’s was ace. I really love his song and couldn’t wait for Shaza to hear it, he’s improved so much over the years and it’s really great to see him getting his shine. Now speaking of Shine... Zelo’s solo. I’d held off as much as I could to hear it and it did not disappoint. Zelo has created a song, entirely in English, purely of his own colour. Zelo wasn’t molded from B.A.P as a vocal. He was and still is an amazing rapper. However you can tell he loves to sing, in a vocal sense and it works for him. Truly he has a lovely voice and to see him produce such a beautiful song... I’m so proud. Really I am. We then got Daehyun’s solo ft. Zelo and though I am the loyalist of Zelo stans, I think Dae’s is my fave. It’s really interesting and the way it grows to it’s peak is amazingly well produced, Daehyun’s voice mixed with Zelo’s quick fire rap really makes this song for me. Unfortunately, JaeJae didn’t have his vocal- I’m unsure if it’s a mix of him having his fan event pick, or if it was because he was pretty unwell that night but regardless he kept it going for so long and really did his best for us. The boys ended up coming out for two encores and all the confetti reminded me of London, but as always it was all over too soon.

And then after a wait where I met two lovely Spanish girls (I was helping them understand what was happening, where we needed to be, and basically just translating for them), B.A.P Hi-Touch happened. I’m just gonna bullet point each member as clearly as I can remember...

The order was Yongguk, Zelo, Daehyun, Jongup, Himchan & then Youngjae.

Yongguk- Okay so putting our wonderful leader first was a lot for my heart to take but I tried my best. The girl in front of me tripped a little and he was so attentive to make sure she was okay. It was really sweet to see. So she had her hi-touch and moved along and then I got to see him. Yongguk stared to my hand as I grabbed his, and I saw his eyes flicker further up my arm, and he got this really big smile on his face. For those of you who don’t know, I have a Matoki tattoo on the inside of my lower arm and I’m not saying he saw it and smiled, I’m saying he saw it and glowed. We then made eye contact again and I said thank you for being so strong and gave his hand a squeeze. He nodded with his super gummy smile and I moved along.

Zelo- Ayooooo it’s ya girl’s bias. So, I do this thing at hi-touch where I don’t just ‘clap’ their hands, I go for a full grab and squeeze their hands. Now me and Zelo, our hands freakin’ smacked together because he gives real strong hi-touches. So I’m there just squeezing his hand kinda tight and I’m telling him thank you, and how proud of him I am. And he’s staring at me with those big ol’ contact filled eyes with his hugely buff arms and honestly I coulda fainted. He was so hyped and happy and just seemed super enthusiastic about seeing us. He really made me feel honestly special and loved ^^

Daehyun- Obviously after Zelo, I’m practically shining at this point and I knew my smile was pretty big, but it was nothing compared to Daehyuns. He looked so happy! I gave his hand such a squeeze (and yes, just like I remembered his hand was so soft! ) and even though he was leaning over the barrier with his hood up nothing could dampen that smile. We both kinda said thank you in unison and he said it in almost a singsong tone, even after a full concert he was still so hyped up.

Jongup- Honestly Jongup & Daehyun were very similar... They had the same kinda vibe about them even though they express themselves so differently. Again, I gave Jongup’s hand a squeeze and thanked him for coming. He had his little bunny smile going on and even though he seemed so shy he still quietly thanked me. I’m always so surprised when I see Jongup of just how small he is, but equally he’s got such a presence about him.

Himchan- Okay... So... this one was a little awkward XDD Basically I went in for a full hand grab but it was just as Himmie was bringing his hand down for a second so I kinda grabbed his hand at the completely wrong angle. But it was fine! I still gave it a small squeeze, making sure my nails didn’t dig into his hand at all, because of the angle. Himmie was a lot different to last year, this time around he seemed a lot more tired. Which is totally understandable, but he was still very attentive to us, making sure to thank each and every person. He’s always stunning when I meet him. Seriously his features, I always notice something new whenever I see him.

Youngjae- Bear in mind that our JaeJae wasn’t feeling especially well he was still trying his best when I got to him. I think he was trying not to get anyone sick but as I didn’t know at the time, I still grabbed his hand fully and gave it a small tap. I could tell he was pretty tired so I tried to give him a Daehyun worthy smile and gave him a really encouraging thank you. He gave me a pretty smile back and a little head nod and I moved along. I ended up walking backwards just to get one last look at these precious boys before I got out the door.

And that was that, we’re pretty sure our uber to the hotel was actually right next to B.A.P’s van rushing off to the airport for most of the trip back, but that’s neither here nor there (as there’s no way we’ll know for sure if it was them). It just seems likely seeing as their sound van was right in front of this tinted windowed van... Anyways! The next day, me and Shaza & Sandy went sightseeing in Poland and it was a really lovely comedown from the hype of the previous night. Warsaw really is so relaxed and chill and they do the nicest foods and damn do I miss it. I’m so glad I had this experience and even through the stress of it all, I don’t regret it for the world. B.A.P really are special to me, to my tiny munchkin butt, and to see them for the second time a year later after my first concert with them was freakin’ wonderful. Whenever I get to see my boys, the experience is always so much more than just a concert. It’s seeing my idols do what they love on stage, it’s meeting my idols, it’s getting to know new people and seeing good friends, it’s going to a different country on a spontaneous whim of ‘I wanna’. I love these six boys and I’ll cherish them for life!
