Anime Gasp Noises (Sleeping Realm Theory Debunk)Pg. 310

I need to think more original titles lol DISCLAIMER: Even though that I am making a debunk in this specific page, I need to state quickly that I do not hate the people who made the sleeping realm theory, nor the Sorikus fan (because I know that someone out there is gonna use that as an example of me hating them) but you don’t like SRT debunks or anyone that talk somewhat negative to the theory overall, I recommended you not reading this, but your choice is not my choice. Also if I made a mistake or miss a detail or two, please tell me. Anyway moving on, after readying @bluerosesburnblue and their recent SRT discussion, I am motivated to do one as well, more specifically the “Fist clenching” part (which I think that either blue or @pmiller1 talk about this before and if that true, then I apologize.) without further ado, let begin; first thing first, I need to put the shot of Yinsid conversation about the “heroes”

Now before they posted these screenshot, they stated that not only that Nomura purposely put in here to draw the player attention, thus makes you focus on it. but they also say and I quote (or rather screenshot);

Where I don’t think that is a case, remember, Yinsid stated that there is (supposedly) some keyblade wielders that use the keyblade to defend the lights or rather conquer it. And we all know that Sora had always been protecting the lights, but doesn’t that mean that they (the writers) saying that Riku wants to conquer the lights? Now I know that they haven’t straight out stated word for word that Riku wants to conquer the light, but the fact that they say whenever Riku clenching his fist it most often had to do with Sora and they purposely put these screenshot in, I think they’re implying that the “heroes” Yinsid was talking about is Sora and Riku, where that can’t be true, because the closest thing that Riku was close to “conquering the light” was Kairi from KH1, other than that, there hasn’t been any proof that Riku was to take the light, the one who DO want to take the light was Xehanort. if that not the case, then Yinsid basically explain both Sora and Riku future that one of them will defend the light while one wants to take it, meaning that Sora and Riku will have to fight against each other soon. what I do think that Riku is clenching his fist is because he knows that the “heroes” that Yinsid was talking about was both Master Eraqus and Xehanort and the fact that Xehanort, the same man who separated Aqua, Ventus, and Terra, and basically the one who created Ansem and Xemnas was once called a hero. moving on to the La Cite des Cloches screenshots;

Now this one is an interesting part, even though I haven’t seen The Hunchback of Notre Dame (The names of the movies where the world take place) I do know that Quasimodo is a “unique” person who many people stated that he was a monster or ugly thus was sned in the tower order by the Judge, but saved a women from that Judged, where I can get the morel from the movie “Don’t judge a book by its cover.” Even though I agree that Riku was most thinking about sora at those moments even when he said to Quasi that a friend should accept him, no matter what. but the whole “wall built around the hearts” sound kinda familiar;

Remember, Riku gave up his light so that he can use that darkness to help Diz to revive Sora, but the fact that he was walking away from Sora and Kairi without telling them, (mostly sora) the truth, Riku can relate to Quasi so much, which is the reason why Riku had a hard time to say “I was speaking from personal experiences” And I think that Kairi and Sora helped Riku and because of that, he already knows what to say to Quasi. plus, the fact that the Captain was to tell that he still has those wall locked inside could bring parrel to Riku dialog in KH2 and DDD;

(plus the fact that DDD take place after KH2 should speak volume) So I think that Riku clenching his fist, isn’t about Sora, but rather the thing he regrets causing to Sora and Riku, and the fact that he hasn’t at all don’t dislike the darkness, but rather the one who uses it (thus explained why Riku still uses any dark related magic in DDD and in KH3) and I think Riku doesn’t want the same regret he felt happened to anyone else, thus Quasi. And I think Riku still have those regret until the end of DDD. Onward to the Symphony of Sorcery;

Yes, I know that both YMX and Riku is talking about Sora of course, but before all of that, YMX knowledge that Riku was suppose to have the Kingdom key until it's now Soras’ Keyblade. I believe that he said this, just so Riku can get mad, since we all know that Riku has been jealous of Sora, thinking that he(Riku) was always better than him(Sora), and the reason YMX does this, so he expected Riku to use the darkness, and this proves my point, when YMX said this;

which also explain why they went after to Sora, not to Riku since Sora isn’t immune to darkness. YMX want Riku to use his rage to summon the darkness, but Riku acknowledge that, but still, want to change for the better. And finally, the last time Riku Clenches his fist in DDD

I think that in this part, its the same thing as YMX, in YMX cases, he want Riku to use the darkness to get back what is rightfully his, aka the Kingdom Key, and for Ansem cases, and the way Riku said that its almost like he want Riku to use the darkness to save Sora, kinda like he did to Sora with Xemnas in KH3 when Sora want to bring Roxas back. I would talk about the KH3 one, but I think many people had already debunked those, plus I kinda tired-out from the rest of the point, I talk about; (seriously, took me 11pm to 2am to finish this lol) also (and Sorry if I’m being a dick) isn’t it a bit funny that before they posted the DDD screenshot, they stated;

but after they finish posted DDD screenshot, they THEN say;

basically, debunk their whole “Whenever Riku clenched his fist, its mostly about Sora” headcanon Plus, to make matter worse, they forgot to mention the last time we’ll see Riku clenched his fist (until Re:Mind come out)

But of course, that just my opinion/headcanon/thoughts I hope you have a good day and thank you for reading!

Can I go on about my SoNami feelings? Bc SoRiku at least has had more emotional pay off throughout the series instead of being teased around for centuries. When Namine rewrites Sora's memories in CoM, even tho it's said Namine inserted herself in Kairi's place, based off cutscenes & the manga, Namine didnt just copy-paste herself as Kairi. She wrote fake memories featuring her as herself, quiet, drawing & everything. So I like to think Sora's emotions towards her werent JUST bc she [1/2]

[2/2] “took Kairi’s place .” Again, Namine wrote herself in his memories as herself, no one else even if she herself says she’s a shadow of Kairi. Sora felt those emotions for what he saw in those memories, which was Namine. Also, based off the fake memories shown in the CoM manga I hc that Namine’s actually pretty funny but she doesnt share her jokes & just laughs to herself or maybe whispers then to Riku sometimes. & since her new body belonged to repliRiku, I hc that [jk cont.]

[3/2 lol sorry] that assuming the replica vessel is the same from CoM, it’s an older model & so Namine travels back & forther between Destiny Islands & Radiant Garden for check ups and maintanence since the vessels from CoM arent supposedly perfected. [Now I’m done]

I am ALWAYS here to talk about SoNami, so by all means, please feel free to drop by and rant to your heart’s content. It’s my second favorite Sora ship, and….technically I guess my third favorite Namine ship, lol (a polyship with Xion and Olette is my first choice for her XD), and tbhhh I don’t get to talk about it nearly as much as I would like to, let alone see fanwork for them. :// And you’re right in that SoRiku at least had pretty much the entire series to spotlight their relationship, even if I’m salty that KH3 brushed them and Riku to the side. XP But yeah, that is absolutely nothing compared to the ocean of salt I feel at the fact that SoNami didn’t get the emotional payoff promised to us at the end of CoM. :////

And I’ve always maintained that Sora’s feelings for Namine are not the feelings that he has for Kairi, and I don’t even fucking care what you believe those feelings are, they’re still different. If you want to read a really fantastic meta on this subject, I’d recommend this one. I’ll…warn you, I guess, that it’s fairly critical of the way that Kairi has been written in the series (the meta covers KH1, CoM, and KH2); these criticisms are pretty valid to me, as they’re much the same as the ones I have, but fair warning if that’s not your cup of tea.

The short version tho is that, no, I don’t believe that Namine just pasted herself over the top of Kairi. The first time that Sora “remembers” Namine, he shouts out to the others that, “There was another girl! […] Besides Kairi and Riku, there was one other girl I was friends with!” [emphasis mine] And later, the most important of the fake memories that Namine gave Sora, the one with their promise, happened during the meteor shower, which canonically happened the night Kairi arrived on the Islands….meaning that memory was taking place before Kairi was even there and before Sora had ever met her (if anything, if Namine is indeed using real and existing memories as the base for the fake memories, that would mean that she’s actually overwriting Sora’s memories of Riku, not Kairi). And all of this is without even mentioning the oh so crucial fact of the plot: during CoM, after the point that Sora forgot Kairi, all of his memories of her were immediately sucked into Xion, and are now physically inside of her mind and are making up her entire being. Therefore: how the fuck can Namine be using those memories if they’re not even physically there anymore?! And that was why there was a whole big to-do in Days, bc those memories were now inaccessible to Sora.

And this is rapidly becoming its own meta and not a short version, so I’ll stop. The point is, I will never believe that Namine just took over Kairi’s place in Sora’s heart. His feelings towards both girls, whatever you believe them to be, are separate and different.

As to the rest…..idk, I don’t think so. Repliku 2.0 was made by Vexen recently during his undercover stint in the Real Org XIII, and even if we assume (tho I haven’t seen anything in the game canon to suggest this) that he’d originally created that vessel before Axel killed him, he still had time to perfect it to work right. Personally, rather than think about Namine needing to hang around with the scientist squad (and especially not Ansem, bc he was an abusive dick to her, and I’m still going to hate him for that until I actually see him apologize to her face (and to Roxas as well)), I’d rather headcanon her as getting to join the sea salt ice cream brigade, getting a hug, and Xion and Olette (and Kairi, now that she’s alive again) taking her shopping so that she doesn’t have to keep wearing that one goddamn dress. (bc srsly…..literally everyone else gets new clothes, but not her?? wtf. why’d Namine get shafted in this too??)

Do you think they’ll put Riku with xion? I hope not its pretty obvious Riku loves sora to make him go with a girl would makes no sense. I also don’t understand why it is said that Riku likes Kairi in novels something about that really gets to me. I also hope sokai doesn’t get confirmed i worry what’ll happen to Riku after it. I love Riku and don’t want him to suffer. Any of this happens I’ll be don’t with this series. What are your thoughts on this?

If I had a dime for every time I thought & stressed over this, I’d be a billionaire, dear anon.

I wish I had the same convictions that @blowingoffsteam2 has on this topic, but I’m generally cynical and pessimistic. I think if you want more of a literary analysis on this, they are your best bet but as for my opinions… I have like, two warring factions going on in my mind at any given moment.

In KH1 & KH2 (I’m using these two bc, they are what most people have played), it was implied that Sora & Kairi would be the Canon Ship, and that Roxas & Namine would by their Nobody counterpart ship. By that logic, with all our Main Girls TM taken, yeah, that would leave poor Riku with Xion. (And you know, it would be kind of funny if this was how it ended up, because Xion was “Kairi” – but she was also SORA. She literally has Sora’s face at one point like…. pfft I guess Riku would get “who” he wants after all.)

And like, if this is how things end up I will probably drown in my own tears. Like you anon, I would probably disown the “canon” and just stick to my fandom guns. It’s not that I would suddenly hate the games or something, but as a fanfic writer I’m perfectly happy to ignore canon to create a version I think is right lol.

My BIGGEST worry, is that if Sokaî was confirmed and they go home to the islands… I’m not sure Riku would stay. Riku wanted to leave the islands for adventure, for strength to protect what matters, and because he felt left out between sokaî in KH1. If sokaî goes home… Well, there’s no adventure on the islands, he wouldn’t need strength to protect Sora anymore, and sokaî romance means he’s third wheel. I feel like maybe he’d become a permanent keyblade master and serve Mickey & Yen Sid. Which he would be good at, albeit miserable without Sora. Maybe this theory is over-simplifying Riku’s motivations, but I dunno this is what I’m constantly thinking about.

The other “canon” possibility I see is maybe sokaî, namîku, and rokushî. Again, this would break my heart, but at the very least Namine and Riku have spoken more than a couple sentences to each other (and they actually worked together to wake up Sora) so I would feel less awful maybe. And we know that Roxas and Xion were actually close.

At this point I’m just hoping they leave all romance open-ended. Every time Nomura opens his mouth lately I’ve been biting my nails with his talk about friends growing apart. Frankly, I don’t think squeenix has the guts to have Riku admit his feelings, or to make any LGBT+ ship canon.

Sorry this is a lot, and negative lol. But thank you for the question anon! I share your worries, but I think we just gotta like… hold hands and pray x,D and past any ships being canonized, I’m pretty sure we are gonna get some soriku content just in that they are essentially working together toward the same goal.

Okay so we have the Kingdom of Light and the Kingdom of Darkness, housing the princes Sora and Riku, respectively. In their Palaces of Dawn and Dusk they’re basically learning how to become kings and rule over their kingdoms in the future, all that jazz. Being royalty directly connected to the light and the darkness they both have special abilities, and can sort of control the light/dark. Sora obviously has better control during the day, and Riku during the night. They gather power from the sun and the moon, which also lead them to be called the Solar and Lunar princes!

The Palace of Dusk and the Palace of Dawn are about within an hour’s journey from each other on foot. If you stand in one of the palaces you can see the other palace within eyeshot out the window on the horizon. So basically they’re pretty close to each other, as they’re supposed to be–both of them come together and rest on the edge of twilight, linking the world together with both light and darkness. Due to this Sora and Riku practically grew up together. They’re not friends, not really, more like casual acquaintances. The reason for this is that even though they are linked together, they’re discouraged from associating with people from the other kingdom. Riku’s father in particular is super strict and highly dislikes it when Riku mingles with people from the Kingdom of Light, and tries to keep him secluded on their own side of the border. Sora’s parents, being more lenient, don’t really care whether Sora associates himself with people from the Kingdom of Darkness, instead they just warn him that those people are prone to falling into darkness and doing bad things (which is a mistake and a very awful stereotype that unfortunately Sora believes in from a young age, along with the goading of several of the palace employees). Of course Sora and Riku run into each other during events that their respective kingdoms hold, like balls and festivals, but they sorta rub each other the wrong way. When they were younger they got along better but were quickly discouraged from seeing each other due to their parents’ influence.

The Kingdom of Light and the Kingdom of Darkness are balanced precariously with each other, and there have indeed been wars in the past, leading to the corruption of both light and darkness and therefore the collapse of both Kingdoms and the world itself, so it’s not very wise;; Thusly the two princes are told not to associate with each other in fear that they’ll develop a negative relationship and start a war in the future. Yikes. So yeah the entire history of both kingdoms have sort of been like this. A…tense friendship that is maintained by holding events and diplomatic meetings, all that boring stuff.

Of course, all of this changes :3c

It starts out with Riku’s rebellious teenage phase, duh. He wanders out farther from the palace grounds every day, wanting to know more of the territory of his kingdom, and also have sparring practice and places to study outside of the palace. Eventually he starts wondering closer to Sora’s territory, leading to them interacting more often. Sora is very wary of Riku at first, and Riku disregards his father’s complaints about talking to Sora. At this point Riku’s being influenced by his father so he…sorta acts like a major asshole, you know, how he is in KH 1–arrogant, rude, and mercilessly teasing. So naturally Sora becomes very annoyed with him, and Riku comes to enjoy teasing him on an almost daily basis. No matter how far Sora strays from the previous day’s area he somehow manages to run into Riku anyway (because they’re drawn to each other hrrk). They fight sometimes, just sparring matches that start out as a competition and eventually evolve into something more fun, and they start to become less like acquaintances and more like friends. It’s at this point in time that Riku starts developing feelings for Sora, unbeknownst to both of them, and Sora’s sort of become used to Riku’s prickly attitude lol.

Over time, as the pressure upon Riku grows more and more, he starts getting more stressed, and Sora notices. They fight more often, Riku taking out his stress on Sora, who gets upset. After not seeing Sora for a week or two (due to Sora deliberately avoiding him–and Sora can SEE him at the border from the window in his room), Riku finally realizes that holy shit he’s in love with Sora. And he MISSES him. A lot. It’s this realization that brings him to his senses–he works harder with studying and going through all of the proper training to become a king, and even his father is impressed.

Soon enough he does meet with Sora again, and apologizes. Sora immediately notices that something is different about Riku, from the way he doesn’t tease him as harshly and just the way he LOOKS at him, like Sora’s the most magnificent creature he’s ever laid eyes on. Riku treats him more kindly and softly, and Sora honestly can’t say he minds it, wondering if he’s finally cracked Riku’s outer shell to show the real softie he is on the inside lol

The days continue like this, with them meeting, and during this time Kairi comes to visit! She’s Sora’s childhood friend and she has a big thing for him, meaning competition for Riku. She notices how much Sora has changed since the last time she’s seen him, and wonders what’s going on. Sora doesn’t really mention his meetings with Riku, still feeling that unease and guilt with associating with someone from the Kingdom of Darkness–and their prince, no less!

Riku starts suggesting they meet up elsewhere, since doing it at the border is too open and they could be spied on. Riku takes Sora to a secret place near the border–there’s a huge cliff with beautiful flowers and trees and you can see the sunset and the sky so nicely from there, and the ocean that just stretches on for miles and miles. It becomes a very special place to them, with a lot of meaning, and soon enough Riku cracks and spills his feelings for Sora. Sora is beyond shocked and isn’t sure what to think…he believes he might like Riku but he isn’t entirely sure? Riku tells him it’s fine if he doesn’t feel the same way, he just wanted to tell him.

The next night Sora goes to the secret place and Riku is surprised to see him there, thinking that he wouldn’t come back after his sudden confession. Sora says that Riku’s his best friend no matter what happens between them, and admits that he might have feelings for Riku too. Riku is super jazzed about that and kisses Sora :’) And Sora’s sitting there like “Okay yup I’m sure now without a shadow of doubt that I’m in love with Riku” like that kiss just sealed the deal. And so they start having these secret rendezvous every night, meeting in their secret place while avoiding the watching eyes of their retainers (Sora’s are Axel, Zexion and Demyx, and Riku’s are Larxene, Marluxia and Vexen). Kairi starts to notice Sora’s withdrawal from her and how he spends more time daydreaming and sneaking off than hanging out with her. She’s disappointed and worried because it’s almost Sora’s 18th birthday, which means he has to start looking for a bride, and she’s really kinda hoping he’ll propose to her? Since it seemed like he had a thing for her (he did, briefly, and then Riku happened whoops). Sora starts to fall behind in his studies, moreso than usual, because he keeps meeting Riku in secret (I’m sorry I’m such a SUCKER for that forbidden love rendezvous trope hhhfh), and eventually everyone in the castle is keeping an eye on him. Riku, on the other hand, has always been skilled at juggling different things, and while he’s more tired than usual he keeps up with his duties just fine. Sooner or later Sora sorta slips up about Riku to Kairi, and he hurriedly tells her to keep it secret. She doesn’t know anything about their deeper relationship, just that they’re friends, but she starts becoming suspicious about the true nature of their meetings.

The Palace of Dusk announces their yearly ball, and so both princes are swept up in preparations for it. Riku and Sora have to stop meeting for a while, since Riku is far too busy to sneak away, and promises he’ll see Sora at the ball. Sora has to practice dancing with Kairi, who asks him about what’s been going on with him, and he brushes her off. Kairi gets upset and Sora apologizes, saying that there’s a lot on his mind.

And then!! The night of the ball arrives!

Sora and Kairi arrive together and everyone immediately starts talking about them as if they’re wed, and Sora gets uncomfortable. He looks around for Riku, since it’s been a couple weeks since they’ve met in person, and Kairi picks up on the latest gossip. Sora runs back into Kairi and asks if she’s heard anything about where Riku is, and Kairi tells him that he’s about to enter and introduce his guest of honor. Sora’s like huh what and Kairi is shocked, like didn’t you hear, Sora? Riku got engaged to a girl named Namine and he’s formally introducing her tonight!

And in that moment, everything falls apart for Sora. He FLIPS OUT and starts bombarding Kairi with questions, Kairi’s like “Didn’t he tell you?” and Sora’s like “No, no he didn’t tell me anything!” And he’s about to cry because it can’t be true, right? Riku said he loved him, not some random girl. That sense of betrayal makes him look like he’s gonna pass out, and finally, Riku shows up with Namine in tow. She’s super pretty and Kairi comments on this several times lol. Riku takes a moment to announce that yes, Namine is his fiancee and they’re going to get married next summer. Sora can’t hear anymore of that and leaves, absolutely devastated. Riku sees him go and immediately chases after–but Kairi notices…

Riku finds Sora in the black rose garden, hiding in some bushes and crying his eyes out. Riku approaches him and Sora gets super pissed and starts hitting him, saying things like I trusted you and how could you do this did you think it was fun to play with my emotions like that and I never want to see you again. Riku has to get him to calm down before explaining that he HAD to announce that, since it’s an arranged marriage his father set up. Riku tells him that he’d never willingly marry somebody else if it wasn’t Sora, and that he’d do anything to break it off with Namine and be with Sora instead, because he doesn’t love Namine, “Do you really think I’d ever leave you for someone else? Moron.” Sora starts crying out of pure relief and Riku kisses him to soothe him further, promising that he he only loves Sora and wants to always be with him.

Unfortunately for the two of them, Kairi had followed Riku out into the garden and witnessed the entire thing…oops!

Kairi admits that she suspected they were together all along. Riku stands in front of Sora, protecting him, and announces that he’ll never give Sora up, not even to her, and that he’ll do anything to make sure she doesn’t get in the way (because Sora’s told him about her before and Riku’s always kinda feared that Sora would leave him for Kairi instead, so there’s a lot of jealousy there). Kairi accepts this and announces she’s leaving. Sora apologizes and Kairi says it’s fine, just that she’ll need time to recover from a broken heart and that she’ll support him and Riku, no matter what, since she’s seen how much they really love each other.

After Kairi leaves Riku admits he has to go back into the ballroom since he left Namine waiting. Sora gets upset and Riku says that while he doesn’t want to marry her he does have a duty to her and she’s a kind person, and she doesn’t deserve to get ditched at a ball that’s practically dedicated to her. Sora asks Riku to meet him at their secret place and Riku agrees. He goes back inside and makes up an excuse as to how he’s feeling ill and is retiring early. Namine agrees and he escorts her to bed before escaping the castle to see Sora.

Riku meets up with Sora and Sora asks him for a dance, since they obviously couldn’t dance together at the ball. As they dance Sora asks Riku what he’s going to do, he’s not really going to let himself be married to Namine right? Riku says he’ll do everything in his power not to be, but he doesn’t really have a choice. Understandably Sora gets upset and is like, “Do you not want to fight for me at all?” And Riku gets upset too and tells Sora it’s difficult, especially since his dad is coordinating and greenlighting the marriage, and that his father isn’t the same person he used to be since Riku’s mother died. Breaking off the marriage will definitely NOT go well and may just make the whole thing worse, so Riku says he’s going to think of a different way to get out of it. This is enough for Sora and then they spend the rest of the evening together.

The next few months fly by; Kairi’s returned home for the time being, needing some time to herself after being rejected, the wedding plans come on full force and Riku and Sora continue to meet in secret. Kairi comes back eventually, wanting to reconcile with Sora and explain her feelings properly. Everything seems okay as it can be until Riku comes to the meeting place late one night, looking super pale, and tells Sora that his father has pushed the wedding date forward, so that it’s going to take place in a couple weeks instead of a couple months. Sora freaks out, saying “You can’t get married to her, Riku!” and Riku’s like I know, I know. Then, a brilliant idea hits him—

“Let’s run away.”

Sora’s like what and Riku’s like yeah just think about it, we can escape from everything, from our duties, our parents, my stupid marriage, and we can be together without having to sneak around like this. Riku asks Sora to come with him and Sora hesitates, thinking about his family and Kairi, and Riku gets angry. “Do they really mean more to you than I do?” And Sora’s like no of course not but I have a duty to my kingdom, to protect and provide, and I can’t just leave my parents and Kairi like that and blah blah blah. Riku gets more upset and says he doesn’t have a choice in the matter like Sora does, and that he’ll leave with or without Sora, because no matter what he’s not getting married to a person he doesn’t love (showing the real dedication he has to Sora). This in turn makes Sora upset and they fight about it ;m;

Over the next few days Sora agonizes about leaving, while his tutors and parents crack down on him about his poor work ethic and how he’s fallen so far behind. Kairi tries to lend her support, since Sora told her what’s going on (not about running away but about the wedding date). Sora lashes out at her, saying that she wants Riku to get married to Namine so she can have Sora all to herself. Kairi gets MEGA PISSED and tells Sora if that’s how he thinks, then maybe he doesn’t know her at all and their friendship is built on a lie. All around him are negative things and when it gets to the point where he can’t walk around without someone monitoring him and making sure he’s getting his work done he decides yeah, screw this Riku’s worth running from everything I’ve ever known. He goes to their secret place and is shocked to see Riku there, who says he comes here even when Sora isn’t able to, because it calms him. Sora tells Riku that yes, he does want to run away, and Riku’s like omg good great that’s amazing I love you let’s leave tonight! Sora’s surprised by the abruptness of their departure and Riku says he already has everything ready to go–his mind’s been made up from the start. Sora gets defensive and is like “So you were just planning on going just like that?” And Riku tells him he was going to say goodbye and offer Sora to join him either way, but now he doesn’t have to since Sora came to him first :’) Riku’s like “Let’s go!” and Sora feels bad for not saying goodbye, not that he really could anyway, and the two of them set off.

They try to get as far as possible before crashing for the night, knowing it won’t be too long before they’re found missing and are followed. The next morning Riku buys them cheaper clothing since they. Have palace clothing on and it’s easy to tell they’re from a very high social standing and stick out like a sore thumb. And then their journey begins! They’re not really sure where they’re headed, just somewhere far away.

Meanwhile the palace inhabitants have noticed that their princes have gone missing. Sora’s parents send out Axel to search for Sora, and Kairi decides to join them. Even though she’s still angry at Sora for his comment and that he ran away, she understands what he’s going through. Riku’s father is absolutely furious at his son for running off right before his wedding, but he can’t spare any of his workers to search for Riku, since they’re all too busy rearranging the wedding plans. Namine finds out that Axel’s been sent to search for the boys and asks if she can join the party. And so, Axel, Namine and Kairi set off in pursuit!

Over the next few weeks Sora and Riku are exposed to a lot of culture and marvel at the things they see, not being able to believe how wonderful the outside world is in comparison to their palaces. They meet and help a lot of people along the way, making an impact wherever they go, and this is how Axel and the others are able to track them, due to their influence. After doubling back to a town and hearing that people are looking for them, Sora and Riku realize they’re being tracked and try to come up with a plan to shake the others off their trail. Eventually they make a deal with a wyvern rider, who agrees to take them to a chain of islands in the south, back the way they came. They take the long way, skirting around the palaces, and land in the south.

Axel and the others lose Sora and Riku’s trail. Frustrated, they search for a way to track them down easier. They hear about this guy who’s famous for catching criminals and is a brilliant tracker. So, they meet up with him and tell them the situation without giving away that Riku and Sora are princes of the kingdoms. That person they meet up with? It’s Roxas! Roxas agrees to help them, being sort of a vigilante and poor, having nothing better to do. Along the road Roxas bonds a lot with Axel and develops a strange fascination for Sora after hearing about him from both Roxas and Kairi, who speak of him fondly and in a good light. Roxas wonders what Sora’s like and begins to wonder if Riku manipulated him into running away with him (not knowing that they’re in love, which only Kairi knows and Namine is beginning to suspect). Roxas plans to rescue Sora from Riku, no matter what the cost.

Sora and Riku end up on Destiny Islands. They see a tinier island in the distance (the play island) and hear that nobody ever goes there since there’s an old house that’s supposedly haunted. Riku’s like “Well I guess that’s where we’re staying” and they head over to inspect the island. Of course the house isn’t haunted, just creepy since it’s abandoned, and despite Sora’s protests Riku’s like “We’re gonna live here now.”

Over the next few weeks they work on rebuilding the house with what materials they can find and bringing over stuff from the mainland with the money Riku took from the palace. They make a home for themselves there and become closely acquainted with members from the village. Sora remarks how different it is, not having to study or have sparring matches or lessons with tutors or anything! They spend many days there, bonding and becoming closer than ever before now that they can be with each other all the time. Riku loves that he doesn’t have to sneak out to see Sora, or hide his love for Sora from anyone else. Sooner or later Sora brings up the topic of Riku’s marriage again, pointing out that they can’t hide forever. It will be awhile before anyone finds them, but they will be found eventually, and forced to go back. Riku realizes that getting out of his marriage isn’t as easy as running away. And then…

He decides to propose to Sora. Like, right there. He says that if he’s married to Sora he can’t get married to Namine. Sora teases him like “So you’re only marrying me to get out of another marriage?” And Riku’s like no it’s because I love you more than anyone else in the world and you’re the only person I ever want to be with and spend the rest of my life with, and Sora falls for it, the sap lol

Riku complains since it isn’t traditional and he doesn’t have anything to give Sora, but then he’s like WAIT WAIT I DO and he gives Sora a ring he’s worn for a long time; it’s an heirloom passed down in his kingdom for generations and it once belonged to his mother before she died. Sora starts crying out of happiness and says he doesn’t have anything as extravagant but gives Riku an earring that belonged to his grandmother. Sora says he isn’t suited for earrings, explaining why he never wore it but says it looks really good on Riku. And that’s how they get their jewelry from each other :’)

Riku plans for their wedding to be as soon as possible, and only a small affair. Sora agrees and they get caught up in pre-marital love, of course~

Thanks to Roxas’ BRILLIANT tracking skills they manage to find out where Sora and Riku have gone, now it’s just a matter of getting there. They could sail or they could fly, but either way it would take a while. Roxas’ desire to meet Sora increases, as well as his fondness for Axel and vice versa. Namine and Kairi also bond a lot, talking about their boys lol.

Two days before Riku and Sora’s wedding, they run into a strange man in town, dressed in all black. They think nothing of it until later that night, when the man shows up on their island and kidnaps Riku. Sora is absolutely devastated, unable to do anything to save Riku, who is dragged into a dark portal against his will. Right after Riku is taken away Axel and co. show up to find Sora in a heap on the sand. Kairi runs over to him and he says brokenly, “They took him. They took him, Kairi. They took Riku away.” He’s just so distraught he doesn’t even ask them how they got there or how they found him, poor baby

Sora takes everyone to his house and explains the situation, in full detail–starting off with claiming Riku and telling Namine that Riku can’t marry her, to which she responds with that she suspected that for a while and understands. Roxas is skeptical but mostly he’s just happy he finally got to meet Sora, who is a literal ray of sunshine (despite the circumstances). Sora says he’s going to find Riku, no matter how long it takes. (He also makes up with Kairi, who’s already forgiven him for what he said to her before.)

Roxas points out that the guy in the black hood might belong to an Organization he was once a part of, and bitterly recounts his experiences with them. All they want is power, so they must have found out that Riku was on the islands, was the prince, and that he had dark powers so that’s why they took him. Kairi, Namine and Axel agree to team up with Sora to find Riku, saying that their mission isn’t complete until they bring both of them home. Roxas says he’ll join them, and the others are like “Oh you don’t have to, you’ve already done enough by helping us find Sora” and Roxas is like “No, it’s the same for me, my mission won’t be complete until we find Riku too, I said I’d help you find both of them” and Sora thanks him. Roxas dies a little on the inside from that hehehe

Over the next few weeks the five of them try to gather information about the Organization and their whereabouts. Sora gets increasingly frustrated and lashes out at everyone, but they take it all in stride, knowing how much he’s worrying for Riku. Surprisingly out of all of them Roxas manages to get through to him the most, and the two of them bond a lot.

Meanwhile, Riku is being held in the Organization’s HQ, and the poor thing is just getting the shit beaten out of him ;m; The Organization’s already done a lot of bad things, like cutting his hair and absorbing the dark energy inside of him, leaving him weak. They’re trying to destroy his will so they can have his body and use it as a puppet, but Riku’s unblinding faith for Sora makes it so that he never gives in, believing that Sora will come to rescue him. But will it be in time…? The Organization reveals that their intended target was Sora, finding that the light inside of him is pure and raw, and that it holds greater power. However Riku is proving to be a worthy candidate as well, for the darkness inside of him is twisted, coming from before he met Sora. It’s been softened by Sora’s light but deep inside are his feelings from the past, which are all…bad ;m; Riku’s prepared to accept whatever they do to him, because he’s grateful he was taken instead of Sora.

Sora tells the others he’s going solo, since it’s taking too long to find Riku. The others protest but Sora’s made up his mind, telling them he’s going alone. They split up and promise to keep in touch through letters and let each other know about any info on the Organization if they can.

It’s here when Sora goes into fucking badass mode. But it’s also…quite terrifying.

While normally Sora would be merciful in interrogating people, now he’s ruthless and isn’t afraid to hurt others to find Riku. He carries around a light sword, being able to summon it with his abilities, and uses that as a weapon to intimidate people as well as to fight. This is “I ain’t taking any of your shit” Sora lol. He is gonna find his boyfriend no matter what the consequences.

I haven’t fully gotten this part thought out yet, but eventually Sora does manage to locate the Organization’s HQ, and with Axel and co.’s help they storm the building and rescue Riku. The Organization are put under arrest by the kingdom, yadda yadda yadda.

Unfortunately Riku is extremely weak and sick from being abused and malnourished for so long, and Sora knows that the only way he’ll get better is if he gets professionally treated back at the Palace of Dusk…which means they’ll have to return home. Resigned to his fate, Sora makes the trip back with everyone, while spending nights sleeping with Riku and soaking up all the time he can get. He mourns the loss of Riku’s long hair but he also likes it short haha. Both of them struggle with nightmares as they have ever since they got separated, but it’s easier now that they’re back together and can help each other cope.

Finally, after being away from home for over a year, Riku and Sora return home.

Riku is put into care at the Palace of Dusk, while Sora’s parents are overjoyed at his return. Sora eventually confesses his feelings for Riku to his mother, who is fully supportive. His dad is a little less so, because of the whole “Kingdom of Darkness are all bad people” thing, but Sora manages to convince him otherwise. His parents are like “Ohhh so that’s why you never ended up proposing to Kairi” like they expected him to lol

Also, Roxas has been invited into the Palace of Dawn, and Sora’s parents absolutely adore him. Roxas is unused to all of the attention and luxury, and finds comfort in talking with Axel about it. Roxas is invited to stay for as long as he likes and he decides to stick around, at least to see what happens with Sora and Riku’s relationship. (And boy howdy Axel is very pleased about that.)

Back at the Palace of Dusk, Riku is recovering. He has a long talk with Namine about how he can’t get married to her, and they discuss the topic of marriage and people they love. Namine agrees to dissolve the marriage, after speaking to Riku’s father.

Riku manages to meet up with Sora and tells him that his father has put the marriage back on once he fully recovers. Sora’s like “What the fuck how can he do that you were gone for a year and badly hurt?! Can’t he give you more time JFC” and Riku’s like I’m going to talk to him about breaking the engagement, “I won’t run away. Not this time”

The time finally comes to confront Riku’s father. Riku’s comforted in the fact that he doesn’t have to do it alone, since Namine comes with him. Unfortunately his father doesn’t take the idea well, and he and Riku get into a screaming match. Riku storms out while his father orders him to be confined to his room, and he angrily hisses at Namine that he won’t throw away a years’ worth of marriage plans just because his son is a (insert horrible gay slur here). Namine gets pissed that Riku’s dad called him that and slaps him before escaping to the Kingdom of Light to stay with Kairi and Sora.

Sora waits for Riku for several nights at their secret place, not that there’s any need since the whole palace knows he’s in love with Riku lol. Riku doesn’t show up and Sora realizes he’s being shut in, so he sneaks over to the Palace of Dusk and climbs in through Riku’s window lmfao

Riku is overjoyed to see Sora but tells him to leave since he’s constantly being checked up on by his retainers. Sora manages to hide from Marluxia, but when Larxene enters and starts bad mouthing Riku and Sora, Sora gets pissed and pops up from his hiding place to yell at her. Larxene finds the situation hilarious and agrees to keep the fact that Sora’s there a secret by bribing Riku pffft

The next morning she finds them in bed together and starts making fun of them, while telling Sora to hurry up and head home before he’s found. Sora is sad to leave Riku but he’s like “Your dad can’t keep you locked up in here forever” and Riku’s like “Oh trust me, he can, he’s an expert at holding grudges” so Sora tells him he’ll bring his parents over to talk about it properly.

Aaaand uh yeah that’s how far I’ve gotten with writing the AU and stuff :0 Of course there’s a lot of things further down the line, like why Riku’s dad is so adamant about Riku marrying Namine, that sorta of stuff~ Eventually Sora and Riku do get their happy ending and get married and build a palace for the both of them to live on right smack in between their territories on the border called the Palace of Twilight, Axel and Roxas get together, Namine and Kairi get together, it’s all a very gay and fun time
