i just wanted to pop in and say it's so refreshing to see another person that likes other ships in the big four (even if they're worthy of their own criticisms) but hates gr//via. most people in the fandom either hate all four or ship all four due to status quo and it's tiring to be forced to be either all in or all out since our thoughts about these things can be complex.

I wholeheartedly feel you, Anon! I also find it refreshing to know there are other people like you who don't stick with the group-think or status quo and decide for themselves which ships you'll like or dislike.

I agree with you; it does seem to be the case that many fans are either all-in for the Big Four or are totally opposed. Maybe they have good reasons, but it does turn out a lot of the time that they're shipping (or not shipping) certain things just for solidarity and not because they've analyzed why they feel this way or that about a pair.

I've heard many a horror story on how Big Four shippers will come for the throats of Gralu, Grayza, or Gratsu shippers just on the basis that Gray, according to their Big Four policy, "belongs to juvia". (Nasty).

It's pretty disheartening and disgusting to witness that behavior. If they have real criticisms, then be our guest, please do elaborate. But most of the time when they start attacking people who don't ship the Big Four, it's purely based off of emotion and loyalty to gr///vians, or to other Big Four shippers depending on the situation.

You put it so wonderfully, Anon: "Our thoughts about these things can be complex." We are all complex individuals, with different preferences and biases and opinions, so we should never let a group bigger than ourselves decide things for us, especially if that group is calling for toxic behavior. In the end, shipping wars are just not worth being a nasty human being to someone else and trying to force them to change their mind.
