was writing down some lore notes about kneve & wynnie in LA, especially when they're middle aged/elderly uhmmm here
they finally get a nice little house in one of the neighborhoods in southern LA by the time theyre older adults and move out of their broken & cramped apartment! yay!
wynnie retires at around the age of 68 (circa 1963). she then volunteers at an old folks home for a couple days of the week to do something with her time.
kneve's nightclub singing, band, & recording gigs dry up by the time she's 45 (circa 1937), so she begins doing seamstress and laundering work for all the women in her neighborhood/apartment complex for some cash, and also finds a job at a hotel lobby as a desk woman. with the great depression and everything work was hard to find for her for awhile, but wynnie's nursing job was pretty steady, with a few pay cuts, of course.
just because kneve stops doing musician work in nightclubs doesn't mean she doesn't love a party, however. whenever she has some extra cash to spare for a drink or two (so not 24/7...) she'll drop by her old stomping grounds to see the fresh faces getting a taste of the LA nightlife.
kneve eventually is able to reconnect with her brother and sister, as well as her nieces and nephews. kneve's niece, lola reyes-roach and her kids, helps take care of her, as well as her "best friend and lifelong companion", wynnifred, of course, in their old age during the 1970's when they are both in their 80s and need some help around the house.
eventually, kneve passes on of complications from bone cancer in 1979 at the age of 87. wynnifred lives to the age of 97, eventually passing peacefully in her sleep of old age. lola discovered her the next day. wynnifred sat with kneve as she passed on in her room at an orange county hospital.
